NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) has taken the world by storm, becoming the first public company to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/07/46326271/nvidia-breaks-4-trillion-barrier-benzinga-poll-predicted-it-first">surpass the $4 trillion </a>market capitalization milestone.
A new poll asks whether Nvidia will also be the first to hit $5 trillion or will be beaten by one of the other tech giants.
What Happened: Nvidia has quickly climbed the ranks as one of the most valuable companies in the world, first reaching a $1 trillion market cap <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/05/32630114/nvidia-becomes-ninth-company-to-hit-1-trillion-market-cap-who-could-be-next-to-join-elusive-club">in May 2023 </a>and becoming the most valuable company less than two years later.
The semiconductor giant beat Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) to the punch for the latest milestone, which comes after Apple was previously the first U.S. publicly traded company to hit the $1 trillion, $2 trillion and $3 trillion market capitalization milestones.
Nvidia also beat Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>) to the milestone, which comes as the two companies have often traded places as the most valuable company in the world over the last year.
Benzinga recently polled readers to ask which of the three companies will hit the next milestone first.
"Which company will be the first to reach a $5 trillion market cap?" Benzinga asked.
The results on Benzinga's Instagram were:

Both polls produced similar results, with Nvidia receiving over 70% of the vote among Benzinga readers. Microsoft placed second in both polls, with Apple ranking third among the three companies.
Coming in second place overall was the option for "Company not listed here." It could be less than 12 months before a company is valued at $5 trillion or it could be years, which means that a company currently ranking under these three companies could have time to surge up the valuation rankings or a company not currently valued at $1 trillion could also make a move similar to Nvidia.

What's Next: While it may take years for a company to hit a value of $5 trillion, Benzinga readers were right in the last market capitalization poll.
In late June,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/long-ideas/25/07/46198021/nvidia-vs-microsoft-vs-apple-which-stock-reaches-4-trillion-first" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Benzinga polled its readers</a>&nbsp;to ask which of these three tech giants would reach the $4 trillion market cap first.
The results on Instagram were:

<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">President Donald Trump</a>'s latest salvo on trade policy has rattled markets, and auto giants like Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) and big tech like Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) may bear the brunt. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Apple's Mexican Lifeline Could Snap</h2>
Apple relies increasingly on Mexico for final assembly and component manufacturing, including parts for iPhones, MacBooks, and AirPods. While most of its core manufacturing is based in China, Apple has been actively diversifying its supply chain to mitigate geopolitical risk.
Ironically, these new tariffs could penalize the very diversification strategy that they aim to support. Higher import costs from Mexico could squeeze Apple's margins or force it to pass the costs on to consumers, which is never a good look in a competitive smartphone market.
The EU also represents a significant revenue pool for Apple, with Europe accounting for roughly 24% of total sales in recent quarters. Any retaliation from the bloc could complicate pricing, tax treatment, or even product approvals.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tesla's EU Exposure Makes It Especially Vulnerable</h2>
Tesla may be even more exposed. The company operates a gigafactory in Germany, and the EU is one of Tesla&#8217;s fastest-growing markets outside the U.S. If Trump's tariff policy triggers a trade war or reciprocal measures, Tesla could face hurdles both in exporting parts and in selling vehicles across borders. It's a tough blow just as the EV maker is trying to defend market share against BYD Co (OTCPK: BYDDF) (OTCPK: BYDDY) and legacy automakers.
Investors should pay close attention: while tariffs may not be imminent, the political narrative could impact capital flows and sentiment around multinationals with cross-border footprints.

U.S. stock futures were lower this morning, with the Dow futures falling around 100 points on Monday.
Shares of Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RARE#NASDAQ">RARE</a>) fell sharply in <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/RARE">pre-market trading</a>.
Ultragenyx received a Complete Response Letter from the FDA for UX111 AAV gene therapy to treat Sanfilippo Syndrome Type A (MPS IIIA).
Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical shares dipped 8% to $27.15 in the pre-market trading session.

Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical, Apple And Other Big Stocks Moving Lower In Monday's Pre-Market Session

<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/tsmc" rel="noreferrer noopener">Taiwanese contract chipmaker</a> Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSM#NYSE">TSM</a>) announced on Friday that Vanessa Lee, its head of materials management, has resigned for personal reasons. The company confirmed <a target="_blank" href="https://www.taipeitimes.com/News/biz/archives/2025/07/12/2003840144" rel="noreferrer noopener">to</a> the Taipei Times that the leadership change takes effect on Sunday.
Cliff Hou, Taiwan Semiconductor&#8217;s senior vice president and deputy co-COO, will immediately take over the materials management division, which has already been under his supervision.
Lee, who joined Taiwan Semiconductor in 2022, rose quickly, becoming vice president in August 2023. She developed systems to forecast supplier demand and monitor supply chain performance. Taiwan Semiconductor credited her with helping the company navigate supply chain disruptions during the 2020 pandemic.

Before joining Taiwan Semiconductor, Lee held senior supply chain roles at Alphabet (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) Google, Apple (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>), and Qualcomm (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QCOM#NASDAQ">QCOM</a>), gaining over a decade of experience in global sourcing and procurement.
Taiwan Semiconductor stock surged almost 17% year-to-date, topping the PHLX Semiconductor Index&#8217;s over 14% (whose components include Nvidia (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/nvda#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) and Taiwan Semiconductor. The company reported <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/07/46338109/tsmc-reports-solid-half-year-revenue-june-sees-monthly-decline" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">second-quarter 2025</a> revenue of 933.79 billion New Taiwan dollars (about $31.9 billion), up from 839.25 billion ($25.5 billion) New Taiwan dollars in the first quarter. This marks a 38.6% year-over-year increase, surpassing the company&#8217;s guidance of $28.4 billion to $29.2 billion issued in April.
Bloomberg analyst Charles Shum credited the strong results to surging AI-related demand from chipmakers like Nvidia and growing outsourcing orders from Intel (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/INTC#NASDAQ">INTC</a>). He noted that this momentum is helping offset weakness in the mobile and consumer electronics sectors, keeping Taiwan Semiconductor on track to achieve its 25% annual sales-growth target in U.S. dollars.
Shum added that operating margins may land near the lower end of guidance, around 47%, due to a weaker U.S. dollar.
Meanwhile, Taiwan Semiconductor is accelerating its U.S. expansion plans, reportedly shifting focus to American operations amid potential chip import tariffs from Washington.
Price Action:&nbsp;TSM stock is trading lower by 0.10% to $230.17 premarket at last check Monday.

Taiwan Semiconductor's Top Supply Chain Executive Exits

A Reddit user claims to have turned disaster into triumph after nearly blowing his mother&#8217;s $800,000 retirement account, before mounting a stellar recovery to a profit of $4 million in just 3 months, via aggressive options trading.

What Happened: On Reddit&#8217;s /r/WallStreetBets community on Saturday, a user with the name Solid-Sock-1794 described his 18-month-long trading journey using his mother&#8217;s retirement, which he says, &#8220;she was more than ok with.&#8221;
During this period, he claims to have significantly outperformed the markets by trading options contracts on high-volatility stocks such as Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>) (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>), Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>), and Hims &amp; Hers Health Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HIMS#NYSE">HIMS</a>). His strategy involved buying near or at-the-money call options with expirations two to five months down the line.
He says the expirations would ideally involve one earnings event in the window, while holding through the actual earnings days.

This strategy, however, failed to stand the test of volatility in April, during what he refers to as &#8220;Tariff BS,&#8221; following which the account plummeted to $800,000. Since then, the account has made a strong 575% recovery, with an ending balance of $5.4 million.
The user credits this recovery to opportunistic scalps during sharp pullbacks, citing the example of Alphabet&#8217;s shares, following Apple Inc.&#8217;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) Congressional Testimony that suggested <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/05/45536887/this-is-the-first-time-in-two-decades-that-google-is-extremely-vulnerableperplexitys-ceo-breaks-down-search-giants-margin-trap">a decline in Google search</a> traffic on Safari for the very first time in history.
As of Friday, the user disclosed he's 85% in cash, with the remaining 15% allocated to QQQ or Nasdaq puts and UnitedHealth Group Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UNH#NYSE">UNH</a>) calls. 
Citing ongoing trade uncertainty involving the European Union and Canada, he summed up his outlook and strategy going forward with a signature WSB refrain: &#8220;TACO's gonna TACO.&#8221; 
Here, the user is referring to the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/05/45665026/trump-always-chickens-out-president-confronted-with-taco-trade-thesis-by-reporteras-markets-bet-hell-blink-again">&#8220;Trump Always Chickens Out&#8221; trade</a>, where traders make bets as soon as President Donald Trump issues fresh tariff threats, knowing fully well that he won&#8217;t follow through with them, something that&#8217;s repeated several times in recent months.

User Sensitive_Reveal_227 claimed to have acquired 303 shares in the health insurance provider after selling his house, and without informing his wife, in hopes of a recovery in the beaten-down stock, following the assassination of its former CEO, the abrupt exit of its new CEO, and speculations of a DOJ criminal investigation, which the company quickly denied.
The company&#8217;s shares have remained largely flat since then, with no recovery in sight, and still trading at over 50% below its all-time high in November 2024.
Price Action: Shares of UnitedHealth were up 1.53% on Friday, trading at $304.10, and are down 0.35% in after-hours trading.

Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>) has reportedly acquired PlayAI, an artificial intelligence startup focused on natural-sounding voice technology.
What Happened: While financial terms were not disclosed, the entire PlayAI team will join Meta this week and report to Johan Schalkwyk, another new joinee from voice AI firm Sesame AI, <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-07-11/meta-acquires-voice-ai-startup-playai-continuing-to-add-talent?sref=10lNAhZ9">reported</a> Bloomberg, citing an internal memo.
The PlayAI team's "work in creating natural voices, along with a platform for easy voice creation, is a great match for our work and road map, across AI Characters, Meta AI, Wearables and audio content creation," the memo read.

Apple Inc.&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) is in the midst of a significant management reshuffle. Despite the company&#8217;s biggest crisis in years, CEO&nbsp;Tim Cook&nbsp;remains firmly at the helm.
Bloomberg's&nbsp;Mark Gurman,&nbsp;in his&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2025-07-13/is-apple-going-to-replace-ceo-tim-cook-who-is-the-next-ceo-of-apple-ternus-md1mhrj4?srnd=undefined">latest&nbsp;</a>weekly "Power On&#8221; report revealed that, Jeff Williams, Tim Cook&#8216;s longtime deputy, has announced his retirement plans, leaving no clear successor in place. 
Despite this, there are no signs that Cook is planning to step down or is grooming a replacement. The board, which is largely made up of Cook loyalists, has not felt the need for a change in leadership.
Although Apple&#8217;s shares have fallen 16% this year, they have seen a surge of around 1,500% since Cook assumed the role of CEO in 2011. Despite current challenges, including AI missteps and&nbsp;an aging product lineup, the&nbsp;board continues to view Cook&nbsp;as the only person capable&nbsp;of guiding the company.
There is a growing recognition among Apple&#8217;s top decision-makers that changes are necessary. Services chief Eddy Cue has internally warned&nbsp;that Apple risks becoming the&nbsp;next BlackBerry or Nokia if&nbsp;it doesn&#8217;t adapt quickly.

Despite these changes, there is concern about&nbsp;the lack of a quick&nbsp;CEO replacement in case of&nbsp;an emergency. The most plausible successor remains hardware chief Ternus, who&nbsp;is about 15 years younger&nbsp;than Cook and has been with Apple for over 20 years.
The management reshuffle at Apple comes at a critical time for the tech giant. With several top executives nearing retirement, the company is facing its&nbsp;biggest leadership turnover in decades.&nbsp;This could potentially impact Apple&#8217;s strategic direction and its ability to innovate and compete in the rapidly evolving tech industry.

But many Redditors disagreed or at least explained why it's not as crazy as it sounds. One of the top comments framed it this way: "In 1995 the S&amp;P 500 market cap was ~$3T&#8230;&nbsp; Nvidia (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>), Microsoft (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>), and Apple (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) today are all individually larger than the entire S&amp;P 500 was in 1995. It's unfathomable."
Several investors pointed out that this kind of growth has happened before and could happen again because of inflation, global expansion and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/24/03/37594210/promising-signs-for-productivity">major leaps in productivity</a>.
&#8220;S&amp;P500 companies don't only sell in America," one added. "All the big U.S. companies are just getting started with their globalization," pointing to China and India and their <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/04/44851085/why-india-china-and-brazil-are-potential-safe-havens-for-investors">growing middle class</a>.&nbsp;
Another commenter chimed in: "Half the world&#8217;s population lives on $7 a day, so I would say there is room for plenty of growth even if population growth slows down."

Other Redditors were more skeptical. For example, one said that population growth, a major tailwind in the past, is slowing down significantly. "Returns will not be what they have been on a market-wide level," they argued. "Large companies finding increased markets via globalization will not be enough."
Another user took issue with the assumption that historical trends will keep repeating. "You are assuming that the tailwinds of interest rates, taxes, suppression of labor wages will continue to trend the same way," they wrote. "Any of those trends continuing to the point we have multiple companies&#8230; having wealth bigger than many countries combined, could result in the kind of social unrest preventing that growth."
Still, others offered a middle-ground take: yes, inflation will play a big role, and yes, some technological innovations might drive value, but don't expect a repeat of the past 30 years. "Past performance does not indicate future results," one person reminded.

Many pointed to advancements in AI, renewable energy, automation and healthcare as areas that could push corporate profits higher, even with slower consumer growth. "Humans are a dynamic, innovative species," one commenter said. "We may well find the world unrecognizable in 30 years."
Others focused on the U.S. dollar itself. "If you divide the S&amp;P 500 over the money supply, you get almost a constant," they argued. "It has never been true growth&#8230; just almost keeping purchasing power."
So, is the idea of a $900 trillion S&amp;P 500 absurd? Depends on who you ask. But most Redditors agreed on one thing: inflation will do a lot of the heavy lifting, and whether it's real growth or just more dollars chasing assets, the index might keep climbing.

A $900 Trillion S&P 500? Reddit Debates The Math Behind 10% Market Growth Rate For Another 30+ Years

If Elon Musk ever writes a self-help book, chapter one might be titled "Insult First, Pitch Later." Because when it comes to Warren Buffett, Musk has made one thing abundantly clear: he's not a fan of the whole "sit around and read reports" lifestyle — but he would like Buffett to write a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/25/05/45301579/elon-musk-says-we-didnt-come-up-with-the-name-tesla-bought-it-for-75k-after-sending-the-nicest-guy-to-camp-out-at-the-owners-doorstep">very big check to Tesla</a> (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>).
It all started in 2020 when Musk dropped by <a href="https://youtu.be/RcYjXbSJBN8?si=Ss_6KDL5Cpdm2PE2">"The Joe Rogan Experience"</a> and casually roasted Buffett's day job. "To be totally frank, I'm not his biggest fan," Musk said. "He does a lot of capital allocation. He reads a lot of annual reports of companies and all the accounting — and it's pretty boring, really."
Musk didn't stop there. In the same breath, he threw shade at the entire financial and legal profession, saying, "We should have fewer people doing law and fewer people doing finance, and more people making stuff."

Later that year, Musk doubled down in a <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/25/style/elon-musk-maureen-dowd.html">New York Times interview</a> with Maureen Dowd during a round of "Confirm or Deny." When prompted with, "Warren Buffett is overrated," Musk didn't give a straight answer. Instead, he laughed and said, "Hahaha. Um, I think he has managed to create a great image for himself as a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/25/02/43496879/elon-musk-said-warren-buffett-managed-to-create-a-great-image-as-a-kindly-grandfather-but-thinks-thats-maybe-overstating-the-case">kindly grandfather, which is maybe overstating the case</a>."
Then came 2021, when Time named Musk its Person of the Year — and gave him another chance to repeat himself with more flair. "I'm not Warren Buffett's biggest fan, frankly," he <a href="https://youtu.be/PbVSZvC7UxY?si=nKLe8-6PVPNJMVkQ">said in the interview</a>. "He sits there and reads all these annual reports, which are super boring." Musk added, "Does anybody want that job? I think most people do not. I don't want that job."
Still, even while dragging Buffett's job description, Musk couldn't deny the value Buffett brings to the table. "He's not engaged in insane, conspicuous consumption. So you have to say, ‘Sure, he's got a high net worth, but he's doing a useful job for the economy, and he's very skilled at it and should probably keep doing it.'"

And just to make sure no one thought his criticism was new, Musk's Buffett commentary dates all the way back to Tesla's 2018 earnings call, when he mocked Buffett's investment philosophy around "moats" — the idea of protecting a company with a durable competitive edge. "First of all, I think moats are lame," Musk declared. "They're nice in a sort of quaint, vestigial way. But if your only defense against invading armies is a moat, you will not last long. What matters is the pace of innovation."
Buffett, of course, didn't take the bait. During the 2018 Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BRK#NYSE">BRK</a>, BRK.B)) shareholder meeting, he responded with Buffett-esque calm and candy-coated sarcasm: "Certainly you should be working on improving your own moat and defending your own moat all the time. And Elon may turn things upside down in some areas. I don't think he'd want to take us on in candy."
But fast forward a few years, and Musk — despite all the digs — wanted Buffett to do what he does best: invest. "He should take a position in Tesla. It's an obvious move," Musk <a href="https://x.com/elonmusk/status/1787325206677401672">posted on X last year</a>, replying to a user who suggested Berkshire Hathaway ditch its $135 billion Apple stake and go all-in on Tesla instead.

Timing-wise, the comment landed just after Berkshire's annual shareholder meeting, where Buffett revealed the company had trimmed its Apple (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) position by about 10%. For context, Buffett and the late Charlie Munger had long expressed skepticism toward the auto industry, calling it capital-intensive and brutally competitive. But they weren't completely closed off to EVs — Berkshire has held a stake in <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/startups/25/10/41120804/574616">Chinese EV giant BYD since 2008</a>.
Still, Musk seemed to carry a grudge — or at least a long memory. In a February 2022 X post, he <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/startups/25/02/43531005/elon-musk-recalls-a-lunch-where-charlie-munger-listed-all-the-reasons-tesla-would-fail-made-me-quite-sad-but-i-told-him-i-agreed">revisited a meeting with Munger over a decade ago</a>. "I was at a lunch with Munger in 2009 where he told the whole table all the ways Tesla would fail," Musk wrote. "Made me quite sad, but I told him I agreed with all those reasons and that we would probably die, but it was worth trying anyway."
So, to recap: Musk thinks Buffett's job is painfully boring, thinks Buffett's investment philosophy is outdated, isn't his "biggest fan" — but also really wants Buffett's backing. If nothing else, Musk has mastered the art of keeping his frenemies close… and maybe within investing range.

President Donald Trump reignited trade war concerns, announcing a 35% tariff on Canadian imports starting Aug. 1. He also proposed blanket tariffs of 15% to 20% on most other U.S. trading partners. Additionally, the administration unveiled 50% duties on copper and Brazilian goods, all set to kick in on the same day.
Trump also escalated his feud with the Federal Reserve. On Wednesday, he called for an aggressive three-percentage-point rate cut, arguing that each point costs the U.S. $360 billion annually in debt service.
The Fed remains cautious. Minutes from the June 17–18 FOMC meeting revealed that most officials expect to cut rates later this year. Still, Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee pushed back, saying debt costs shouldn&#8217;t drive monetary policy. He reiterated the central bank's dual mandate: price stability and full employment.
Airline stocks outperformed this week. Delta Air Lines Inc.
