Top 3 Financial Stocks That May Rocket Higher This Quarter

UBS Group AG (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UBS#NYSE">UBS</a>) shares are trading lower after it reported fourth-quarter 2024 sales of $11.6 billion. That&#8217;s up 7% year-over-year, beating <a href="https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20250203802726/en/UBS-reports-4Q24-net-profit-of-USD-0.8bn-and-FY24-net-profit-of-USD-5.1bn-proposes-USD-0.90-dividend-per-share-and-continuation-of-share-repurchases-continuing-to-invest-for-long-term-growth#:~:text=Net%20profit%20attributable%20to%20shareholders,diversity%20of%20our%20core%20businesses." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">the </a>consensus of $11.2 billion.
Underlying revenues upped 6% year-over-year to $11 billion, led by the performance of core businesses.
Underlying operating profit before tax reached&nbsp;$1.8 billion, a significant increase of 198% Y/Y in the quarter.
Global Wealth&nbsp;Management's&nbsp;net new assets for the&nbsp;quarter were&nbsp;$18 billion, with revenues rising 10% Y/Y to&nbsp;$6.1 billion.
The group posted a net profit attributable to shareholders of $770 million for the quarter. A year ago, the firm reported a loss of $279 million. EPS of 23 cents <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/earnings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">beat the consensus of 22 cents</a>.
CET1 capital ratio, a measure of bank liquidity, was&nbsp;14.3%, same as in year ago quarter.
UBS CEO Sergio P. Ermotti said the firm &#8220;captured growth in Global Wealth and Asset Management&#8221; and gained market share in investment banking. 
&#8220;With over 70 billion Swiss francs of loans granted or renewed, we continued to be a reliable partner for the Swiss economy,&#8221; he added.
The company achieved additional gross cost savings of $700 million in exit rate gross cost saves in the quarter, for a total of about $3.4 billion in FY24. 
Outlook:&nbsp;In the first quarter, UBS anticipates a low-to-mid single-digit sequential decline in Global Wealth Management&#8217;s net interest income (NII) and a ~10% drop in Personal &amp; Corporate Banking's NII (CHF).
The bank projects integration-related expenses of around ~$1.1 billion, while PPA accretion should contribute ~$0.5 billion to total revenues.
UBS says it is on track to reach ~$13 billion in gross cost savings <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance" rel="noreferrer noopener">by 2026 compared to FY22</a>.
The Swiss bank now expects integration-related expenses of total ~$14 billion by 2026.

UBS Reports Strong Q4 Profit Growth, Warns Of Interest Income Decline

President Donald Trump announced a wave of tariffs on Canada, China, and Mexico, though some have now been delayed, sparking mixed reactions in <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/02/43452717/nvidia-tsmc-drop-as-trump-hits-mexico-canada-and-china-with-tariffsbut-top-analyst-sees-only-limited-supply-chain-impact">the business world.</a>
Executives Weigh In: Tariffs increase costs for American importers, which can lead to higher prices for consumers. Industries such as perishable foods and automobiles could see disruptions as Trump&#8217;s tariffs take effect.
General Motors Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GM#NYSE">GM</a>) CEO Mary Barra reacted to the tariffs announcement last week, <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/news/gm-ceo-mary-barra-ive-talked-to-president-trump-about-tariffs-132651342.html">telling</a> Yahoo Finance that the Detroit-based company has already prepared for impending tariffs.

UBS Group AG (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UBS#NYSE">UBS</a>) CEO Sergio Ermotti <a href="https://x.com/business/status/1886735516520898930">told</a> Bloomberg that the tariffs could result in &#8220;spikes in volatility,&#8221; reiterating that &#8220;negative outcomes are not priced into the market.&#8221; Ermotti sees inflationary pressure as possibly impacting central bank policy.
The CEO of JPMorgan Chase &amp; Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JPM#NYSE">JPM</a>), Jamie Dimon, told CNBC that critics of Trump&#8217;s tariffs should &#8220;get over it.&#8221; Dimon said that the tariffs could help the United States with national security. Dimon was previously a critic of Trump&#8217;s tariffs during his first term.

Trump's Tariff Push Divides Executives: 'Negative Outcomes Are Not Priced Into' Markets

U.S. stock futures were mostly lower this morning, with the Dow futures falling around 100 points on Tuesday.
Shares of PayPal Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PYPL#NASDAQ">PYPL</a>) fell sharply in today's pre-market trading following <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/PYPL/earnings">fourth-quarter earnings</a>.
PayPal reported quarterly earnings of $1.19 per share which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $1.12 per share. The company reported quarterly sales of $8.366 billion which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $8.256 billion.
PayPal's board also authorized a $15 billion stock repurchase program.
PayPal shares fell 6.8% to $83.38 in the pre-market trading session.
