NXP Semiconductors NV (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NXPI#NASDAQ">NXPI</a>) showcased its new S32R47 imaging radar processors in 16 nm FinFET technology on Thursday.
The third generation of imaging radar processors delivers up to twice the processing power of the previous generation.
With NXP&#8217;s mmWave radar transceivers, power management, and in-vehicle networking solutions, the S32R47 family meets functional safety ASIL ISO 26262 ASIL B(D) requirements.

According to Yole Intelligence&#8217;s Status of the Radar Industry 2024 report, by 2029, approximately 40% of vehicles entering the road will be passenger cars with driving automation Level 2+(L2+)/ Level 3 (L3), with an increasing number of vehicles with Level 4 (L4).
Imaging radar leverages richer point cloud data for more detailed modeling of the environment. This is a key enabler for AI-based perception systems, which allow for assisted and autonomous driving in the most challenging environmental conditions, such as complex urban scenarios.
The S32R47 integrates a high-performance multi-core radar processing system, allowing denser point cloud output and enhanced algorithms that enable next-generation ADAS systems. This results in better separability of objects, improved detection reliability, and more accurate classification of objects such as vulnerable road users or lost cargo.
In April, NXP reported <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/management/25/04/45053723/nxp-semiconductors-reports-q1-earnings-very-uncertain-operating-environment-tied-to-tariffs-ceo-transition-shares-fall" rel="noreferrer noopener">first-quarter results</a>. The company reported first-quarter revenue of $2.84 billion, down 9%, in line with analyst&nbsp;estimates. The company reported first-quarter adjusted earnings of $2.64 per share, beating analyst estimates of $2.58.
NXP expects second-quarter revenue of $2.8 billion to $3 billion versus estimates of $2.87 billion. The company sees second-quarter adjusted earnings of $2.46 to $2.86 per share versus estimates of $2.65.
"NXP's&nbsp;first-quarter&nbsp;results and&nbsp;guidance&nbsp;for the&nbsp;second quarter&nbsp;underpin a cautious optimism that NXP continues to effectively navigate through a challenging set of market conditions. We are operating in a very uncertain environment influenced by tariffs with volatile direct and indirect effects," said&nbsp;Kurt Sievers, president and CEO of NXP.
"Considering these external factors, we are redoubling our efforts to manage what is in our direct control, enabling NXP to drive solid profitability and earnings," Sievers added.
Price Action: NXPI stock is trading up 0.97% to $188.69 at the last check on Thursday.

Bank of America analysts examined how heavily U.S. fund managers are <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/semiconductors">invested in semiconductor</a> and electronic design automation stocks in the S&amp;P 500.
Based on data from the end of April, the relative weighting of semiconductor stocks are 0.90x — down considerably year-to-date (1.01x in December 2024). 
Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) maintains the broadest ownership. Roughly 73% of fund managers own the stock. Positions grew consistently throughout the past year (+67bps Q/Q, +518bps Y/Y).

Within semiconductors, the survey found:

<li>Broadcom Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AVGO#NASDAQ">AVGO</a>), Applied Materials, Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMAT#NASDAQ">AMAT</a>), and Texas Instruments Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TXN#NASDAQ">TXN</a>) made up 29% to 65% of fund manager ownership. </li>
<li>Skyworks Solutions, Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SWKS#NASDAQ">SWKS</a>) remained the least-owned semi stock with ownership of 3%-4% across all active manager funds.</li>
<li>The most significant expansions in ownership Q/Q were in Broadcom, Intel Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/INTC#NASDAQ">INTC</a>), KLA Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KLAC#NASDAQ">KLAC</a>), Nvidia, and Synopsys, Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SNPS#NASDAQ">SNPS</a>).</li>

<ul>
<li>Nvidia, Broadcom, Applied Materials, Tesax Instruments, Lam Research had the largest percentage of holdings by active fund managers for Russell 1000 stocks.</li>
<li>At the median, Russell 1000 semis were held by 7.4% of active fund managers, about 400bps below overall tech. </li>
<li>Overall, semiconductors were generally underweight (at 0.47x) relative to the Russell 1000 index, similar to all of tech (0.63x). </li>
<li>Marvell Technology, Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MRVL#NASDAQ">MRVL</a>), GlobalFoundries Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GFS#NASDAQ">GFS</a>), Broadcom, Micron, KLA Corp had the highest weightings.</li>

U.S. stock futures declined Wednesday morning, even as major indexes closed higher on Tuesday, with the S&amp;P 500 and Dow Jones logging their sixth consecutive day of gains — marking their longest winning streak in months.
<a href="https://benzinga.com/25/04/45059191/donald-trump-will-reduce-impact-on-us-auto-industry-by-alleviating-some-auto-tarrifs-report">Easing of the auto tariffs</a> helped the markets with a fresh dose of optimism going into a jam-packed earnings week, with several heavy-hitters, including 4 of the &#8220;Magnificent 7&#8221; companies, set to release their quarterly results over this week. 
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump hinted that trade negotiations with India were &#8220;coming along great,&#8221; and that the administration was <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/04/29/trump-india-trade-deal-bessent-south-korea-japan.html">close to announcing a deal</a>, further adding to the optimism, according to a report by CNBC.
Investors on Wednesday will be closely watching the earnings of tech giants, Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>), Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>), Qualcomm Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QCOM#NASDAQ">QCOM</a>), and KLA Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KLAC#NASDAQ">KLAC</a>), which should set the tone for the rest of this week.
U.S. 10-Year Treasuries are at 4.16%, while the 2-Year Treasuries are at 3.66%. The CME Group's FedWatch&nbsp;<a href="https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">tool</a>&nbsp;shows the markets pricing a 92.4% likelihood of interest rates remaining unchanged during the FOMC meeting that is scheduled to take place the first week of May, which marks an increase from 91.1% on Tuesday.

Cues From Last Session:
Almost all S&amp;P 500 sectors closed in the green on Tuesday, barring the energy sector, which was down 0.29%. The index was up 0.58%, marking its sixth-straight winning day, the longest streak since November of 2024. The Dow Jones was up 0.75%, and the Nasdaq Composite by 0.55%.
Visa Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/V#NYSE">V</a>), Coca-Cola Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KO#NYSE">KO</a>), and Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PFE#NYSE">PFE</a>) reported strong earnings, while Starbucks Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SBUX#NASDAQ">SBUX</a>) <a href="https://benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/04/45084597/starbucks-misses-q2-earnings-estimates-ceo-says-optimism-has-turned-into-confidence-i-see-more-opportunity-than-i-imagined">fell short of estimates</a> during its second quarter results on Tuesday.
Economic data was disappointing, with the S&amp;P Case-Shiller Home Price Index (20 Cities) up 4.5%, below estimates at 4.8%, followed by Consumer Confidence at 86.0, below the median forecast at 87.3, and finally, the Total Job Openings for March came in at 7.3 million, below the forecast at 7.5 million.
As of Tuesday, the Nasdaq 100 index was down 12.04% from its previous high of 22,222.61 points. The S&amp;P 500 index was 9.54% lower, as compared to the last record high of 6,147.43 points. On the other hand, Dow Jones was 10.08% down from its 52-week high of 45,073.63 points.
The Dow Jones index jumped 300 points or 0.75% to 40,527.62, whereas the S&amp;P 500 index surged 0.58% to 5,560.83. Nasdaq Composite ended 0.55% higher at 17,461.32, and the small-cap gauge, Russell 2000, also advanced 0.56% to 1,976.52.

What To Know: The company reported adjusted earnings per share of $2.64, beating analysts&#8217; estimate of $2.58. In addition, NXP reported sales of $2.83 billion, in line with analysts&#8217; estimate, but down 9% year-over-year.
NXP said it repurchased $303 million shares throughout the first quarter and paid $258 million in dividends. The company also announced that CEO Kurt Stievers will retire at the end of the year. Rafael Sotomayor&nbsp;will replace Stievers as CEO.
Outlook: The company sees second-quarter adjusted earnings per share from $2.46 to $2.86, versus analysts&#8217; estimate of $2.65. NXP expects sales from $2.80 billion to $3 billion, versus analysts&#8217; estimate of $2.87 billion.
&#8220;NXP&#8217;s&nbsp;first-quarter&nbsp;results and&nbsp;guidance&nbsp;for the&nbsp;second quarter&nbsp;underpin a cautious optimism that NXP continues to effectively navigate through a challenging set of market conditions. Things haven&#8217;t moved all that much on the trade and tariffs front, with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent merely stating on Monday that <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/45038824/treasury-secretary-scott-bessent-says-its-up-to-china-to-de-escalate-trade-tensions-india-to-be-the-first-trade-deal-to-be-signed">it was up to China</a> to &#8220;de-escalate&#8221; trade tensions. Bessent also hinted at a potential trade deal with India, saying that &#8220;it would be one of the first deals we would sign,&#8221; which investors will be watching closely.
This is set to be a packed earnings week for Wall Street, with four of the &#8220;Mag 7&#8243;— Microsoft&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>),&nbsp;Meta&nbsp;Platforms&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>),&nbsp;Apple&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>),&nbsp;and Amazon&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>), set to release their quarterly results over the next couple of days.

Sanmina posted upbeat results for its second quarter, but issued weak forecast for the third quarter. The company said it sees third-quarter adjusted earnings of $1.35 to $1.45 per share, versus market estimates of $1.53 per share. It also expects sales of $1.925 billion to $2.025 billion for the current quarter, versus market projections of $2.06 billion.</li>

Q1 Earnings: NXP reported first-quarter revenue of $2.84 billion, in line with analyst <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/earnings">estimates</a>, according to <a href="http://pro.benzinga.com">Benzinga Pro</a>. The company reported first-quarter adjusted earnings of $2.64 per share, beating analyst estimates of $2.58 per share.
Total revenue in the first quarter was down 9% on a year-over-year basis. The company said it generated $565 million in cash flow from operations, as well as free cash flow of $427 in the quarter.
&#8220;NXP delivered quarterly revenue of&nbsp;$2.84 billion, in-line with the midpoint of&nbsp;guidance. NXP&#8217;s&nbsp;first-quarter&nbsp;results and&nbsp;guidance&nbsp;for the&nbsp;second quarter&nbsp;underpin a cautious optimism that NXP continues to effectively navigate through a challenging set of market conditions,&#8221; said Kurt Sievers, president and CEO of NXP.
&#8220;We are operating in a very uncertain environment influenced by tariffs with volatile direct and indirect effects. Considering these external factors, we are redoubling our efforts to manage what is in our direct control, enabling NXP to drive solid profitability and earnings.&#8221;

Outlook: NXP expects second-quarter revenue of $2.8 billion to $3 billion versus estimates of $2.87 billion. The company sees second-quarter adjusted earnings in the range of $2.46 to $2.86 per share versus estimates of $2.65 per share.
The quarterly figures and second-quarter guidance appear to be largely in line with estimates. Cautious commentary from executives as well as a CEO transition appear to be weighing on shares after the bell. 
NXP announced that Sievers intends to retire at the end of 2025. The board has unanimously approved Rafael Sotomayor to succeed Sievers. Sotomayor will take over as president and CEO in October following a transition period.
NXP executives will further discuss the quarter on a call with analysts and investors Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. ET.
