In the high-stakes race to shape America's next-gen missile shield, Wall Street's <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/05/45149289/golden-dome-fever-lockheed-raytheon-northrop-brace-for-a-missile-defense-windfall">"Golden Dome" trio</a> &#8211; Northrop Grumman Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NOC#NYSE">NOC</a>), Lockheed Martin Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LMT#NYSE">LMT</a>) and RTX Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RTX#NYSE">RTX</a>) &#8211; are all chasing glory.
While the Pentagon's checkbook opens wide for Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), only one stock is quietly preparing for a technical breakout that could catch the Street off guard.
Forget who's winning the contract battle &#8211; when it comes to the charts, Northrop Grumman is the one preparing for liftoff.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Northrop Grumman (NOC): The Bearish Chart That's Hiding A Bullish Surprise</h2>

On the surface, NOC looks anything but ready to rally. This month, it's down over 10%, trading below its five, 20, 50 and 200-day simple moving averages (SMAs) &#8211; a textbook bearish picture.
Its MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence) is negative at 4.60, and the Relative Strength Index (RSI) is 42.92, drifting in weak territory.
But here's the twist: NOC's 50-day SMA is just a hair below the 200-day SMA ($494.29 vs. 496.11). One solid up week and we could see a Golden Cross, the bullish technical pattern where the 50-day SMA overtakes the 200-day &#8211; often seen as a launchpad for momentum traders.
So while NOC looks bruised, it might just be the classic case of last to fall, first to fly.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lockheed Martin (LMT): Strong, But Not Strong Enough</h2>

Lockheed's role in the Dome is rock solid &#8211; THAAD, PAC-3, and command systems are all in its orbit. Its stock is technically bullish, with the price above the eight, 20 and 50-day SMAs and a MACD of 3.93 confirming positive momentum. RSI? A comfortable 55.22.
LMT's 200-day SMA is still far above at $511.65, while the stock trades at $473.16. In other words, this bird's flying &#8211; but not close to a Golden Cross.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">RTX Corp (RTX): Already Crossed, Already Priced In</h2>

RTX is the strongest performer by far: up 23% over the past year and trading above all major SMAs, including the 200-day (now at $122.82). RSI is 56.48 and MACD is 0.46 &#8211; both bullish signals.
But here's the kicker: RTX&#8217;s bullish move indicates that optimism regarding the company could be already priced in. The excitement? In the rearview mirror. For traders hunting the next big technical signal, RTX might be yesterday's headline.
The Pentagon's budget may favor all three Golden Dome names &#8211; but when it comes to technical fireworks, Northrop Grumman is the one to watch. A Golden Cross is right around the corner. If momentum shifts, this underdog could suddenly look a lot less grounded.
So while RTX coasts and Lockheed cruises, NOC is quietly loading for launch.

'Trump Administration Proposes Cutting $6 Billion From NASA's Budget'- Bloomberg

With Washington sharpening <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/defense">its defense focus</a>, JPMorgan analyst Seth Seifman says investors shouldn't sleep on the potential scale of the so-called "Golden Dome.&#8221; A Donald Trump-era vision that could redefine America's missile shield from the ground to space.
While still nebulous in detail, the initiative is gaining real fiscal teeth: about 17% of the proposed $150 billion defense reconciliation bill is aimed at Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), with much of the anticipated growth likely landing in the pockets of familiar defense primes.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lockheed Designs, Raytheon Builds, Northrop Connects</h2>
Lockheed Martin Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LMT#NYSE">LMT</a>), Raytheon or Rtx Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RTX#NYSE">RTX</a>) and Northrop Grumman Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NOC#NYSE">NOC</a>) are all angling for central roles in the architecture, says Seifman.
<ul>
<li>Lockheed expects the Golden Dome to fall into three buckets and it&#8217;s positioning itself as a top architect:
<ul>
<li>ground systems like THAAD and PAC-3, </li>
<li>space-based tracking, and </li>
<li>an overarching command-and-control web</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Meanwhile, Raytheon says it has all the "building blocks" for the program. It is touting proven systems like Patriot, NASAMS and next-gen radars.</li>
<li>And Northrop, never one to miss a classified memo, is pushing to embed its IBCS system deep into the Dome&#8217;s core.</li>
</ul>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Space Race Heats Up Above The Dome</h2>
But the real intrigue might be above the clouds. Seifman notes that while missile defense budgets typically exclude space, the surveillance backbone depends heavily on advanced satellites. That's where the stakes rise &#8211; and so do the challengers. 
Reuters recently reported that a consortium including <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/spacex">SpaceX</a>, Palantir Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PLTR#NASDAQ">PLTR</a>) and Anduril is targeting the space layer of the Dome, where funding is set to balloon.
Also quietly gearing up is L3Harris Technologies Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LHX#NYSE">LHX</a>), which has scored awards across all tracking layer tranches and sees its satellite bets paying off big.

What Happened Last Week
While ETFs led the dance, overall market sentiment also <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/regulations/25/04/45022314/wall-street-recovers-dollar-steadies-as-trump-tempers-trade-fight-signals-support-for-powell-this-week-in-markets">received a much-needed dose of adrenaline</a>.
Markets regained their groove as investor anxiety over the U.S.–China trade war eased. The Trump administration signaled the possibility of tariff reductions, and China considered putting some levies on hold, according to reports. Never one to pass up a headline, President Donald Trump assured investors he had no intention of firing Fed Chair Jerome Powell, which eased concerns over central bank autonomy.
The S&amp;P 500 has clawed back almost 80% of its post-April 2 &#8220;Liberation Day&#8221; sell-off. Earlier sell-offs in Treasuries and the dollar also halted, as investors adopted a risk-on sentiment.
But beneath the surface, warning lights continue to flash:
U.S. private sector growth<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/regulations/25/04/44952395/us-business-activity-growth-slows-in-april-as-services-suffer-tariff-shock-markets-rally-as-trade-war-cools"> moderated to a 16-month low</a>. Consumer sentiment saw the worst three-month slump since the 1990 recession.
Inflation expectations jumped to levels not seen since &#8220;Eye of the Tiger&#8221; was the chart-topper.
In the stock world, ServiceNow (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NOW#NYSE">NOW</a>) posted a 20% weekly gain on robust earnings, and Northrop Grumman (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NOC#NYSE">NOC</a>) dropped 15% after scaling back its 2025 outlook. Tesla shares, meanwhile, had their largest weekly jump since November following Musk&#8217;s pledge to spend less time with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and focus more on making electric vehicles.
What&#8217;s Ahead
Action this week will be paramount, with high-profile earnings from Microsoft (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>), Meta (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>), Apple (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>), and Amazon (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>). In addition, look for a data dump: the initial peek at Q1 GDP, the Fed&#8217;s favored inflation gauge for March, and the April jobs report.
Markets may have flown high last week, but this week may be an entire different ball game.

UnitedHealth, T-Mobile And Fiserv Are Among Top 12 Large-Cap Losers Last Week (Apr 21-Apr 25): Are The Others In Your Portfolio?

Investor risk appetite rebounded over the week as the U.S. administration signaled a de-escalation in trade tensions with China. President Donald Trump also reassured markets that he has no intention of firing Federal <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/regulations/25/04/44977395/trump-backs-off-firing-powell-after-walmart-target-ceos-warn-him-of-empty-store-shelves">Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.</a>
Reports suggested China is considering suspending its 125% tariff <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/global/25/04/45004954/china-reportedly-begins-exempting-key-us-imports-from-tariffs-including-pharma-and-aerospace-parts">on select U.S. imports</a>, following indications that Washington may cut tariffs on Chinese goods. Trump hinted that negotiations with Beijing are ongoing, even as Chinese authorities denied any such talks were taking place.
The sell-off that had weighed on U.S. Treasuries and the dollar the previous weeks came to a halt, as investors found reassurance in the central bank's independence.
The S&amp;P 500 has now recouped nearly 80% of the losses suffered since the post–April 2 "Liberation Day" downturn.
Yet, recent business and consumer surveys paint a less optimistic picture. U.S. private sector growth slowed in April to its weakest pace in 16 months, according to flash <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/regulations/25/04/44952395/us-business-activity-growth-slows-in-april-as-services-suffer-tariff-shock-markets-rally-as-trade-war-cools">Purchasing Managers' Index data.</a> 
Business expectations for the year ahead have dropped to near-COVID-19 pandemic lows, while prices for goods and services rose at the fastest pace in over a year, particularly in manufacturing, where tariffs are playing a key role in driving costs higher.
Consumer sentiment also deteriorated sharply. The University of Michigan's gauge fell 8% this month, with expectations down 32% since January — the steepest three-month drop since the 1990 recession. One-year inflation expectations surged from 5% to 6.5%, the highest since 1981, while long-term inflation expectations rose from 4.1% to 4.4%.
Among individual stocks, ServiceNow Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NOW#NASDAQ">NOW</a>) led the S&amp;P 500 with a 20% weekly gain on strong earnings <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/44986106/servicenows-1q-reflects-no-material-signs-of-strain-from-tariff-related-macro-uncertainties-analysts-raise-price-targets">and upbeat forward guidance</a>. Palantir Rolls Out Tanks, Microsoft Builds Clouds - Who's Winning AI's Next Frontier?

What Happened: During Lockheed&#8217;s first quarter of 2025 earnings call on Tuesday, Taiclet said he has challenged his team to deliver &#8220;80% of 6th Gen capability at 50% of the cost&#8221; by applying technologies developed for its NGAD bid to the existing F-35 platform.
&#8220;We are moving forward and moving out on applying all the technologies that we developed for our NGAD bid onto our embedded base of F-35 and F-22,&#8221; Taiclet said, describing his vision as a &#8220;5th generation plus concept&#8221; for the F-35.
The aerospace giant <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/44922218/lockheed-martin-posts-strong-q1-says-maintained-2025-guidance-doesnt-include-tariff-impact">reported strong first-quarter results</a> with earnings per share of $7.28, beating analyst estimates by $0.97, and revenue of $17.96 billion, up 4.47% year-over-year.
Lockheed maintained its full-year guidance despite tariff challenges and the NGAD decision, projecting $73.75-74.75 billion in revenue and $27.00-27.30 in earnings per share. The company returned $1.5 billion to shareholders through dividends and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/44922218/lockheed-martin-posts-strong-q1-says-maintained-2025-guidance-doesnt-include-tariff-impact">share repurchases during the quarter</a>.

Despite these challenges, Taiclet emphasized the F-35&#8217;s continued importance. With approximately 1,100 aircraft already delivered and a projected global fleet exceeding 3,500, he positioned the F-35 as the &#8220;quarterback&#8221; in future air combat operations.
&#8220;We think we can get most of the way to 6th Gen at half the cost,&#8221; Taiclet said.

Price Action: Lockheed Martin stock closed at $462.08 on Tuesday, up 0.82% for the day. In pre-market trading, the stock was up an additional 0.85% at $466.00. Year to date, however, the stock is down 4.18%.
