Ascendis Pharma Announced FDA Acceptance For Priority Review Of New Drug Application For TransCon CNP For Children With Achondroplasia And Set Prescription Drug User Fee Act Goal Date Of Nov. 30, 2025 To Complete Review.

Sanofi SA (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SNY#NASDAQ">SNY</a>) on Monday agreed to acquire Blueprint Medicines Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BPMC#NASDAQ">BPMC</a>).
The acquisition includes a rare immunology disease medicine, Ayvakit/Ayvakyt (avapritinib), approved in the U.S. and the EU, and a promising advanced and <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/health-care" rel="noreferrer noopener">early-stage immunology pipeline</a>.
Ayvakit/Ayvakyt is the only approved medicine for advanced and indolent systemic mastocytosis (ASM &amp; ISM), a rare immunology disease, which is characterized by the accumulation and activation of aberrant mast cells in bone marrow, skin, the gastrointestinal tract, and other organs.
The acquisition will also include elenestinib, a next-generation medicine for SM, and BLU-808, a highly selective and potent oral wild-type KIT inhibitor with the potential for immunology diseases.

Sanofi will pay&nbsp;$129.00&nbsp;per share in cash, representing an equity value of <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/06/n45714358/sanofi-to-acquire-blueprint-medicines-expanding-portfolio-in-rare-immunological-disease-and-adding" rel="noreferrer noopener">approximately&nbsp;$9.1 billion</a>.
Blueprint shareholders will also receive one contingent value right (CVR), which entitles the holder to two potential milestone payments of&nbsp;$2&nbsp;and&nbsp;$4&nbsp;per CVR to achieve future development and regulatory milestones for BLU-808.
The total equity value of the transaction, including potential CVR payments, represents approximately&nbsp;$9.5 billion&nbsp;on a fully diluted basis.

Ayvakit achieved net revenues of&nbsp;$479 million&nbsp;in 2024 and nearly&nbsp;$150 million&nbsp;in Q1 2025, representing year-on-year growth of more than 60% over Q1 2024.
Sanofi currently expects to complete the acquisition in the third quarter of 2025. The acquisition will not significantly impact Sanofi&#8217;s financial guidance for 2025. It is immediately accretive to gross margin and accretive to business operating income and EPS after 2026.
In another development, Sanofi exercised its option to exclusively license Nurix Therapeutics, Inc.&#8217;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NRIX#NASDAQ">NRIX</a>) STAT6 program on Monday, including the drug development candidate NX-3911, an oral, highly selective STAT6 degrader.
STAT6 (signal transducer and activator of transcription 6) plays a central role in type 2 inflammation, which drives diseases such as atopic dermatitis and asthma.
Under its 2019 collaboration agreement, Nurix will receive a $15 million license extension fee from Sanofi, bringing the total amount received under this <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/06/g45717764/sanofi-exercises-license-extension-option-to-nurixs-stat6-program" rel="noreferrer noopener">collaboration to $127 million</a>.
Nurix is eligible for an additional $465 million in development, regulatory, and commercial milestones associated with the STAT6 program and potential future royalties and retains an option to co-develop and co-promote in the U.S.
Price Action: SNY stock is trading lower by 0.73% to $49.01, BPMC stock is trading higher by 26.8% to $128.50, and NRIX stock is trading lower by 0.28% to $10.60 during the premarket session at last check Monday.

Sanofi Expands Rare Immunology Portfolio With Blueprint Buyout

Buy now, pay later provider Klarna took another step toward a U.S. listing last week, <a href="https://www.klarna.com/international/press/klarna-accelerates-global-momentum-in-q1-2025-and-unlocks-large-gains-from/">reporting progress</a> on its transition into internally developed AI systems. AI-driven staff reductions of 700 contractors have generated "significant efficiency" according to the Swedish company, which now expects revenue per employee to reach $1 million, higher than the $575,000 reported last year.
Buy now, pay later payment processing services let retailers offer short-term installment loans at the time of purchase, allowing buyers to spread out payments. The loans are usually interest-free and without service charges, potentially encouraging customers to buy more than they can afford. Not surprisingly, these firms have come under investigation. Notably, the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority hit Klarna with <a href="https://www.fintechfutures.com/bnpl-payments/swedish-regulator-issues-klarna-with-administrative-fine-of-around-46m#:~:text=The%20regulator%20says%20it%20investigated,violation%20of%20several%20key%20rules%E2%80%9D.">$46 million in fines</a> in December after accusing it of money laundering in 2021 and 2022.

The company filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for an <a href="https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/2003292/000162828025012824/klarnagroupplcf-1.htm">IPO </a>in March, citing an American domicile in Columbus Ohio. It postponed plans after President Donald Trump announced tariffs on Europe in April and hasn't responded to the latest rejection by U.S. Federal courts. Klarna reported a 13% revenue increase to $710 million in the first quarter of 2025 but still hasn't said when it will proceed with the offering.&nbsp;
The BNPL business model works by charging fees to merchants, like card processors. There may also be flat transaction fees and late fees for missed payments. The second issue could upend the industry after a recent <a href="https://www.bankrate.com/loans/personal-loans/buy-now-pay-later-survey/">Bankrate survey</a> reported that about "half of buy now, pay later users have experienced issues like overspending and missing payments." While these companies depend on late fees, high incidence rates may attract the attention of regulators.&nbsp;

Almost one-third of Americans have used BNPL, according to the survey. Klarna captured 9% of the report&#8217;s market share while <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/PYPL">PayPal</a> (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PYPL#NYSE">PYPL</a>) led the pack with 15%. Half of customers reported "issues related to service." Of those, 24% mentioned "overspending," 16% "missed payments" and 15% "regretting a purchase." Gen Z users reported the highest rate of these issues, across all generations. It also revealed "consistent use across all income levels," which is surprising, given the greater financial struggles of the lower classes.
The survey highlights a consumer base increasingly burdened by inflation and stubbornly high credit card rates. Bankrate Senior Industry Analyst Ted Rossman summed up the findings, noting that "BNPL can be a good deal if you use it responsibly. It provides access to credit and can help users smooth out their cash flow. But sometimes it can lead to overspending, and you would have been better off waiting until you could pay for the item up front."

It's hard to predict Klarna's success as a publicly traded company, given the moral hazards of this business model and financial challenges imposed by a potential trade war. However, things look brighter on the regulatory front because the Trump administration is pulling back on oversight, similar to its first term, scheduling budget reductions in consumer and banking regulations.&nbsp;
For now, it's best to just follow the money. Q1 2025 marked Klarna's fourth consecutive profitable quarter. It also reported an impressive 100 million active consumers while merchant growth surged 27%. Those are impressive numbers for this rapidly growing financial services startup.

The analyst highlights the company&#8217;s pipeline, which can potentially strengthen its relative position. Sustained top-line growth should support outsized adjusted EBITDA results and yield meaningful upside over the next several years.

Roman adds the potential upside from consumer-related adoption and strong P&amp;L leverage, which should continue through the balance of 2025.

The CGM market is still mainly a two-player race between Abbott Laboratories (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ABT#NYSE">ABT</a>) and DexCom, Roman says.
However, the pump market is becoming more crowded, with more companies entering and customer needs changing. Hence, Goldman Sachs reiterated Abbott as a Buy and Tandem Diabetes Care, Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TNDM#NASDAQ">TNDM</a>) as Neutral.
