The contrasting pricing strategies highlight how major retailers are navigating the uncertainty around tariffs and adjusting their pricing in response.
Amazon struggles to profit from these items due to high shipping costs, vendor consultant Corey Thomas told the publication, while Walmart can absorb losses since in-store shoppers often buy higher-margin products.
The e-commerce giant, however, has refuted the Journal&#8217;s findings, stating that the products analyzed do not accurately represent the overall pricing of the company. &#8220;We&nbsp;have not seen the average&nbsp;prices of products offered in&nbsp;our store change up or&nbsp;down appreciably,&#8221; Amazon said in a statement.
Manufacturers of several products that saw price hikes on Amazon said they had not increased their retail prices. However, net income decreased 7.7% to $131.1 million, primarily due to an unfavorable change in pre-tax net realized and unrealized losses associated with the company&#8217;s investment in DPC&nbsp;Dash&nbsp;Ltd, as well as a higher effective tax rate.
The company&#8217;s board declared a quarterly dividend of $1.74 per share to be paid on September 30. During the quarter, Domino&#8217;s repurchased and retired 315,696 shares of common stock for $150 million, with $614.3 million remaining in its share repurchase authorization.
