Long before the conflict between President Donald Trump and Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) CEO Elon Musk erupted in full public view, ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood had shed light on the risks of clashing personalities.
Amidst the ongoing feud, which was sparked by <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/25/05/45635854/elon-musk-disappointed-with-trumps-big-beautiful-bill-says-it-undermines-the-work-that-the-doge-team-is-doing">Musk's criticism of Trump's "big, beautiful bill,"</a>  Wood has highlighted a more profound concern: the deep dependence of Musk's companies on government support.
What Happened: In a video posted to ARK Invest's YouTube channel on Friday, Wood said, "I think the way this is evolving is Elon, Tesla, and investors are beginning to understand more and more just how much the government has control here."
&#8220;Elon is involved in companies that are depending on the government,&#8221; she added, referring to Tesla, SpaceX, and Neuralink. These companies operate under federal oversight or reap benefits from public funding.
SpaceX holds $22 billion in <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/25/03/44452231/elon-musks-spacex-on-track-to-secure-billions-in-federal-contracts-under-trump-report">federal contracts</a>, according to company COO Gwynne Shotwell. Neuralink, meanwhile, is strictly regulated by the FDA.
Tesla, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/06/45830730/dan-ives-remains-bullish-on-tsla-stock-despite-trump-elon-musk-feud-expects-regulatory-framework-for-robotaxis">whose stock fell by 14% last week</a> as the feud escalated, would face hurdles in its robotaxi rollout in a hostile regulatory landscape. Trump has hinted at <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/politics/25/06/45828038/trump-vs-musk-trump-hints-at-canceling-musks-contracts-well-take-a-look-at-everything-hes-got-a-lot-of-money-heres-how-musk-responded">canceling contracts</a> in the wake of their feud.

Why It Matters: In 2024, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42260398/how-a-potential-fallout-between-elon-musk-and-trump-could-impact-tesla-and-spacex-cathie-wood-weighs-in">Wood was asked</a> how a falling out between Trump and Musk might impact companies like Tesla and SpaceX. She had acknowledged the potential risk of their strong personalities colliding with each other, but also highlighted their shared ambitions for the future of the country.
"Well I think that if you look at Elon Musk's companies, what they're doing is taking us into this new age, whether it's Tesla with autonomous mobility and robotaxis or SpaceX, really getting us to the moon again and then to Mars. I think these are things that President Trump wants," she said.
To manage tensions should they arise, Wood had recommended a long-term approach: "They have — they're going to keep their eye on the prize, which is really trying to use these technologies to transform not only transportation but I think in particular healthcare."
In the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/politics/25/06/45826692/trump-musk-feud-may-not-end-anytime-soon-as-president-says-he-has-no-plans-to-speak-to-the-tesla-ceo">current situation</a>, Wood observes that the feud may be part of a larger shift. "One of the hypotheses out there is that what has happened was partly — not entirely — orchestrated," she said.
"Clearly, there has been some brand damage to Tesla, which he readily admits, and I think he&#8217;s trying to disengage from the government and being associated with one party or the other."
Wood is still confident about Musk's ability to adapt. "He works really well under pressure," she said. "He creates a lot of that chaos and pressure himself."

U.S. stock futures were slightly higher this morning, with the Dow futures gaining around 0.1% <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/TSLA">points on Monday</a>.
Shares of Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) fell sharply in today's pre-market trading.
President Donald Trump issued a warning to Elon Musk, stating that there would be "serious consequences" if Musk chooses to financially back Democratic candidates against Republicans who support the GOP's budget bill.
Tesla shares dipped 2.9% to $286.96 in the pre-market trading session.

U.S. stock futures were flat on Monday after closing higher on Friday. Futures of major benchmark indices were mixed in premarket.
The S&amp;P 500 scaled the 6,000 points mark on Friday as Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) rebounded after tensions between Elon Musk and President Donald Trump <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/politics/25/06/45807968/trump-signals-truce-with-elon-musk-after-online-feud-its-going-very-well-never-done-better">cooled down</a> after a public spat on Thursday.
Friday&#8217;s <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/economic-data/25/06/45818251/trump-cheers-strong-jobs-data-renews-attack-on-feds-powell-rates-should-be-much-lower">jobs report</a> also saw the economy adding 139,000 jobs versus the expectation of 130,000 in May, cheering the equities.
The investors will be on the lookout for May&#8217;s inflation print, which will be announced later this week on Wednesday.
The 10-year Treasury bond yielded 4.48% and the two-year bond was at 4.01%. The CME Group's FedWatch <a href="https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html">tool</a>&#8216;s projections show markets pricing a 99.9% likelihood of the Federal Reserve keeping the current interest rates unchanged in its June meeting.

The SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) and Invesco QQQ Trust ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>), which track the S&amp;P 500 index and Nasdaq 100 index, respectively, were mixed in premarket on Monday. The SPY was up 0.11% at $599.78, while the QQQ declined 0.0038% to $529.90, according to <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga Pro</a> data.
Cues From Last Session:
All sectors on the S&amp;P 500 closed <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/06/45831332/sp-500-hits-6000-level-following-positive-jobs-data-investor-sentiment-improves-fear-index-remains-in-greed-zone">positively on Friday</a>, led by significant gains in consumer discretionary, energy, and communication services stocks.
However, not all individual companies fared as well. ABM Industries Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ABM#NYSE">ABM</a>) shares dropped over 9% after the company released its second-quarter results, and DocuSign Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DOCU#NASDAQ">DOCU</a>) stock plunged 19% following its first-quarter earnings report.
This market reaction followed the release of upbeat jobs data: <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/economic-data/25/06/45818251/trump-cheers-strong-jobs-data-renews-attack-on-feds-powell-rates-should-be-much-lower">nonfarm payrolls increased</a>, surpassing the consensus expectation in May. 
Additionally, average hourly earnings rose by 0.4% in May, marking the strongest monthly increase since January and exceeding the anticipated 0.3%. The U.S. unemployment rate remained steady at 4.2% for May.

He also reshared a post highlighting the strength of retail investor participation in the month of May.
The J.P. Morgan data highlighted in the post shows that retail investors bought $23 billion worth of securities in May, which was $17 billion less than March and April, but it aligned with the average monthly net imbalance for the year of $25 billion.
Despite a slowdown in retail buying in May, Detrick underscored the resilience of retail investors.

Brock Weimer, the investment strategist at Edward Jones, highlighted that the S&amp;P 500 is set to post earnings growth of nearly 13% in the first quarter, marking the third double-digit earnings growth in the past four quarters.
While earnings estimates have been revised lower for the quarters ahead, full-year estimates are still calling for earnings growth of around 9% for the S&amp;P 500.
&#8220;In our view, single-digit earnings growth is attainable in 2025, given the resilient economic backdrop, which should offer support to equity markets amid the uncertain policy environment,&#8221; he said.

Asian markets ended higher on Monday except Australia's ASX 200 index. Japan's Nikkei 225, India's S&amp;P BSE Sensex, South Korea's Kospi, China&#8217;s CSI 300, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng indices rose. European markets were mixed in early trade.

&#8220;A $4 trillion tax hike next year would devastate American businesses and families,&#8221; Scott said on X, adding that President Trump is committed to avoiding that with his proposed legislation, something that &#8220;300 leading economists agree.&#8221;
Massie, a long-time fiscal hawk isn&#8217;t buying it, and said that &#8220;the biggest tax will be when you must monetize the debt to pay for the BBB,&#8221; which essentially refers to the Federal Reserve stepping in to buy more U.S. Government debt when there isn&#8217;t enough demand for it in the market.

Massie then asks Bessent to advise the President on certain lesser-discussed portions of the bill, such as the potential removal of the $10,000 cap on state and local tax (SALT) deductions. &#8220;You should advise the President to remove the $300b SALT bribe to NY and CA millionaires," Massie said. &#8220;His 2017 TCJA (Tax Cuts and Jobs Act) didn't have it.&#8221;
This exchange highlights the growing divide within the GOP, particularly regarding the budget, inflation, deficit spending, and special interest carve-outs.

After a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/economic-data/25/06/45812372/us-labor-markets-defies-tariff-concerns-as-nonfarm-payrolls-wages-top-expectations-in-may">steady May jobs report</a> that was released Friday, economists are at a crossroads about their view on the monetary policy. While some believe that the Federal Reserve should hold onto its &#8220;wait and see&#8221; stance, others affirm that the central bank can start cutting interest rates.
What Happened: While most economists were in consensus that the Federal Reserve should wait for the tariff implications to play out before cutting interest rates. Jamie Cox, the managing partner at Harris Financial Group, believed that the Fed should start cutting interest rates as soon as July.
&#8220;The labor market is strong, but cooling. I expect this report, with all its revisions, to bring the Fed back into cutting mode in July,&#8221; he said.
According to the data shared by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/economic-data/25/06/45812372/us-labor-markets-defies-tariff-concerns-as-nonfarm-payrolls-wages-top-expectations-in-may">nonfarm payrolls</a> rose by 139,000 in May, beating consensus expectations of 130,000. However, it was lower than its average monthly gain of 149,000 over the last 12 months.
However, Chris Zaccarelli, the CIO at Northlight Asset Management said, &#8220;The Fed should be reluctant to cut rates because the full effects of tariffs haven't impacted inflation numbers yet and the job market isn't deteriorating enough to force their hand, which is why we don't expect them to cut rates until the end of this year, if at all.&#8221;
And Jeffrey Roach, the chief economist at LPL Financial, said, &#8220;If payroll growth trudges on like this, the Fed will likely remain in &#8216;wait and see&#8217; mode.&#8221;

Why It Matters: Apart from nonfarm payrolls, the average hourly earnings rose 0.4% from a month ago and 3.9% from last year. Thus, the wages rose faster than inflation, giving workers some relief from inflation pressure.
The unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.2% and has been rangebound for the past year. The employed population stood at 59.7%, a decline from last month and still below the Jan 2020 level.
On Friday, senior economist Mohamed El-Erian said in an X post that the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/economic-data/25/06/45818251/trump-cheers-strong-jobs-data-renews-attack-on-feds-powell-rates-should-be-much-lower">central bank should wait</a> to cut the rates, given that &#8220;both May job creation and wage growth were higher than consensus forecasts.&#8221;

The CME Group's FedWatch <a href="https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html">tool</a>&#8216;s projections show markets pricing a 99.9% likelihood of the Federal Reserve keeping the current interest rates unchanged in its June meeting. However, the odds of a cut increased over 60% for the September, October, and December meetings.
The SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) and Invesco QQQ Trust ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>), which track the S&amp;P 500 index and Nasdaq 100 index, respectively, rose on Friday. The SPY was up 1.03% to $599.14, while the QQQ advanced 0.98% to $529.92, according to <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga Pro</a> data.

As Trump Flames Powell For Holding Back On Rate Cuts, Economists Divided On Fed's Approach

Qualcomm Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QCOM#NASDAQ">QCOM</a>) announced on Monday that it has <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/06/b45831588/qualcomm-to-acquire-alphawave-semi" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">agreed to acquire</a> semiconductor company Alphawave IP Group Plc for approximately $2.4 billion in cash.
The purchase price implies <a target="_blank" href="https://www.londonstockexchange.com/news-article/market-news/recommended-acquisition/17075345" rel="noreferrer noopener">183 pence per share</a> for Alphawave, implying close to a 96% premium to the price immediately before Qualcomm disclosed its interest in the company.
The acquisition of Alphawave Semi aims to further accelerate, and provide key assets for, Qualcomm&#8217;s expansion into data centers. Qualcomm Oryon CPU and Hexagon NPU processors are well positioned to meet the growing demand for high-performance, low-power computing, which is being driven by a rapid increase in AI inferencing and the transition to custom CPUs in data centers, the company said in a press release.

The deal, subject to regulatory and shareholder approval, will likely close in the first quarter of 2026. Qualcomm held $13.85 billion in cash and equivalents as of <a href="https://investor.qualcomm.com/overview/default.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">March 31, 2025</a>.
In May, JP Morgan&nbsp;analyst Samik Chatterjee&nbsp;said Alphawave has higher <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/05/45624771/qualcomm-eyes-alphawave-to-power-ai-and-data-center-growth-analyst-sees-strategic-fit" rel="noreferrer noopener">strategic importance for</a> Qualcomm, which has recently more explicitly outlined its intent to pursue the data center market as another pillar of growth and diversification.
The analyst said Alphawave&#8217;s acquisition and capabilities regarding data center connectivity IP would complement its earlier acquisition of Nuvia and its capabilities for designing data center CPUs and AI inference chips based on custom ARM cores.
Chatterjee expects Alphawave&#8217;s breadth of capabilities to add to Qualcomm&#8217;s portfolio, positioning the company to benefit from tailwinds related to strong growth in Custom silicon and ASIC adoption within AI infrastructure and development in content about connectivity products within AI data centers.
He added that Alphawave&#8217;s immediate contribution to Qualcomm&#8217;s financial performance is unlikely material, but the company expects synergies from its entry into the broader data center TAM.
Price Action: QCOM stock is trading higher by 0.19% to $149.52 premarket at last check Monday.

Dog-themed cryptocurrency Dogecoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/doge/usd">DOGE</a>) may be encountering a corrective phase, but analysts were hopeful of significant upside in the ongoing cycle.
What Happened:&nbsp;Javon Marks, a widely followed chartist, shared their analysis of Dogecoin&#8217;s potential trajectory on Sunday. He stated, 
&#8220;Dogecoin, by its previous cycles,&nbsp;has a high likeliness to&nbsp;make a run to and&nbsp;above $2.28,&#8221; Marks projected. Should the prediction come true, it&#8217;d mean a whopping 12x upside from the current price.
The analyst said these&nbsp;levels act as the 1.618&nbsp;Fibonacci Level,&nbsp;which DOGE managed to hit and exceed in previous bull cycles,&nbsp;making the chances of it&nbsp;happening again this cycle a&nbsp;bit higher.
Fibonacci retracement is a technical analysis tool that uses ratios derived from the Fibonacci sequence to determine probable support and resistance levels. These are then used to predict reversals or continuations. Meanwhile, cryptocurrency trader Kamran Asghar noted DOGE&#8217;s &#8220;strong&#8221; structure within an ascending broadening wedge, setting a price target of as much as $3.8. 
The ascending broadening wedge is a bearish reversal pattern, as part of which price makes higher highs and higher lows before a downward breakout.

Steep home prices and high mortgage rates are leading Gen Z to find innovative ways to become homeowners. One popular strategy seems to be co-purchasing homes with siblings.
What Happened: According to Bank of America's 2025 Homebuyer Insights Report, 22% of Gen Z homeowners reported purchasing their home with a sibling in 2025.
According to a Fortune <a href="https://fortune.com/2025/06/07/housing-market-trend-gen-z-homebuying-siblings-extra-jobs-family-loans/">report</a>, the figure is up from 12% in 2024 and 4% in 2023. At the same time, 30% of Gen Z buyers said they took on a second job to fund their down payment, compared to 28% the previous year and 24% the year before that.
Co-purchasing homes outside of romantic partnerships is on the rise. Almost 15% of Americans have done so, according to a 2024 JW Surety Bonds survey. Gen Z's main source of support is family. 21% of future Gen Z buyers plan to depend on family loans, compared to 15% of overall respondents.

Why It Matters: <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/money/real-estate-forecast-for-the-next-10-years">Uncertainty in the housing market</a> has led <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/real-estate/25/06/45712505/75-of-homebuyers-are-waiting-for-lower-rates-report-finds">60% of current homeowners and would-be buyers to be unsure</a> if it is the right time to purchase. This is up from 57% in 2024 and 48% in 2023.
Despite challenges, BofA's head of consumer lending, Matt Vernon, said Gen Z is not waiting to take action: "They are finding creative ways to afford down payments and working hard to improve their financial futures."
The desire to own a home is still strong: "Even with the challenges they face, younger generations still understand the long-term value owning a home offers them," Vernon added.
U.S. Census Bureau data shows the homeownership rate for those under 35 fell to 36.3% in late 2024 but rose to 36.5% in early 2025. Redfin now reports home prices falling in 11 of the 50 largest metro areas, stating that the "<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/25/06/45814493/its-a-buyers-market-redfin-reports-there-are-34-more-sellers-in-the-market-than-buyers">balance of power</a> in the U.S. housing market has shifted toward buyers."
Even though Zillow is projecting a 1.9% decline in values by year's end, Gen Z is not waiting for perfect conditions.
