According to The Oregonian, AheadComputing represents one of the most ambitious spinouts, combining advanced design experience with startup agility.
Vice president of AheadComputing&#8217;s design verification Alon Mahl said the hands-on startup environment allows engineering leaders to accelerate timelines and make immediate decisions without layers of corporate oversight. The Oregonian says that the team is already seeking larger office space in Washington County to accommodate growth and additional equipment needs.

According to The Oregonian, AheadComputing joins a small group of Oregon-based chip startups led by Intel alumni, including Ampere Computing, which was recently acquired by SoftBank for $6.5 billion while retaining its Portland office footprint.
Portland State University professor Christof Teuscher, an expert in microprocessor architecture, said the startup is taking a high-risk, high-reward approach. While RISC-V has traditionally been used in academic and embedded contexts, The Oregonian says that Teuscher expressed skepticism about its ability to succeed in high-performance commercial environments.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Listener's Dilemma: Still Working at 76</h2>
A listener named Janet wrote in with a common concern: She recently turned 76 and was told that as long as she's working full-time, she doesn't need to start RMDs. She's now considering retirement and wants to know what to do next.
Orman's answer depends on the type of retirement account Janet has.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Key Difference: Employer Plans vs. IRAs</h2>
According to Orman, the rules vary depending on whether your retirement savings are in an employer-sponsored plan or an <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/money/how-to-open-an-ira">Individual Retirement Account</a>.
"If you&#8217;re working and the RMDs are from your employer&#8217;s plan, your 401K, 403 or [thrift savings plan], you do not have to start taking them at 73," Orman explained. These employer-sponsored accounts are exempt from RMDs until you retire — as long as you&#8217;re still employed by the company that sponsors the plan.
But the rule doesn't apply to IRAs.
"However, if you have any IRAs or you only have IRAs or whatever it may be, then that doesn&#8217;t apply," Orman said. "So if you have an SEP IRA, a simple IRA, and any of that, you have to take RMDs from the IRAs even if you are working full time."
So if Janet has money in an IRA and hasn't been taking her RMDs, she may already be behind.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Missed an RMD? Here's What To Do</h2>
Missing an RMD doesn't automatically result in a steep penalty, but you'll want to act quickly. Orman suggests taking the missed distribution right away and working with a CPA to file the appropriate forms with the IRS.
"The IRS may waive the penalties entirely if she can show reasonable cause," she said. But timing and documentation matter, so professional help is recommended.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Can You Still Contribute While Taking RMDs?</h2>
Another question came up on the podcast: If you're still working and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/25/03/44083449/does-a-younger-spouse-change-your-rmds-or-retirement-withdrawals">taking RMDs</a>, can you also contribute to a retirement account?
The answer is yes — if you have earned income, you can still contribute to certain accounts. For example, if you're self-employed, you can contribute to a SEP IRA even while taking RMDs. In fact, you may be able to contribute a sizable amount and get a tax deduction.
However, Orman cautioned that just because you can contribute doesn't mean you should. "You might be better off just paying the taxes now and then investing that money in an individual brokerage account," she said, especially if you expect higher tax rates in retirement.

This trend was notably observed in December 2017&nbsp;when Bitcoin hit nearly $20,000&nbsp;for the first time.

Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>), the leading cryptocurrency globally, has recorded a 656% surge in its ongoing cycle.
As per data analytics company Glassnode, Bitcoin saw a rise of 1,076% from 2015 to 2018, a gain of 1,007% from 2018 to 2022, and in the current cycle that commenced in 2022, Bitcoin has already ascended 656%.

What Happened: The enforcement of the Alien Registration Act commenced in April. As per the report <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/06/14/trump-administration-alien-registration-act-00403535">by</a> Politico, the majority&nbsp;of those charged were already&nbsp;in jail and undergoing deportation proceedings.
The law, established in 1940, was a response to public concerns about the loyalty of immigrants to the U.S. Non-compliance with the registration requirement is a &#8220;petty offense&#8221; attracting a maximum penalty&nbsp;of six months imprisonment or&nbsp;a $1,000 fine. 
The revival of this law by the Trump administration could place undocumented immigrants in a precarious situation. If they register, they are required to provide detailed&nbsp;information to the federal government, including their method and time of entry into the country. 
However,&nbsp;knowingly refusing to register is&nbsp;also a crime, punishable by&nbsp;arrest or prosecution.

What Happened: The Pentagon Pizza Report, a social media account that keeps tabs on&nbsp;real-time foot traffic at pizza&nbsp;shops in the vicinity of the Pentagon, suggested that officials were working late hours at the government building, potentially hinting at an impending conflict. 
The account reported increased activity at four local pizza outlets hours before Israel launched Operation Rising Lion.
The report states that the strikes occurred late Thursday evening. The account kept posting updates about the nearest and second-nearest Domino&#8217;s to the Pentagon before and after the airstrikes.&nbsp;

As gold teases all-time highs, peaking at <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/guidance/25/06/45928561/gold-biggest-boom-in-decades-and-investors-are-still-missing-out">$3,446 an ounce on Friday</a> and logging its best half-year rise in more than 40 year, investors are scrambling into ETFs to join the party. Yet as several gold ETFs have tracked the metal&#8217;s rocket-like run, a more fundamental question is rising to the surface: Are these ETFs designed for the type of crisis driving gold&#8217;s rise?
That is, can your gold ETF really save you when it counts?
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">When Safe-Haven Investing Gets Technical</h2>
Gold&#8217;s rally this year has been fueled by a powerful combination of Middle East tensions, U.S. fiscal instability, and weakening dollar. But in the midst of all the macro upheaval, investors in ETFs might be overlooking an important nuance: the structural strength of their gold holdings.
On the surface, highly traded ETFs such as the SPDR Gold Shares (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLD#NYSE">GLD</a>), iShares Gold Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IAU#NYSE">IAU</a>), abrdn Physical Gold Shares ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SGOL#NYSE">SGOL</a>), and SPDR Gold MiniShares Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLDM#NYSE">GLDM</a>) appear to be identical. They all aim to track the price of gold, have low expense ratios, and are traded with lots of liquidity. However, beneath the surface, the distinctions might prove fatal in an actual crisis situation.
Consider storage, for instance. GLD holds much of its gold in the <a href="https://www.spdrgoldshares.com/media/GLD/file/GLD-8K-Nov30-2022.pdf?">vaults </a>of HSBC in London, subject to UK law. SGOL <a href="https://www.onegold.com/etfs/sgol?">holds </a>its bullion in Zurich and London, and IAU has <a href="https://www.ishares.com/us/literature/prospectus/p-ishares-gold-trust-prospectus-12-31.pdf?">vaults </a>in New York, Toronto, and London. During times of peace, this is a small asterisk. During wartime, or during sanctions, sovereign freezes, or bank disruptions, geography of the vault can be the weak spot or secret advantage of an ETF.
Also, not all ETFs have the same redemption rights. GLD permits large institutions to trade shares for real bullion, but individual investors can&#8217;t. SGOL has more transparency in auditing and bar listings, and while GLDM is less expensive, it&#8217;s less accommodating in redemption and verification.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Liquidity Vs. Ownership</h2>
And then there&#8217;s the derivative problem. Certain &#8220;gold&#8221; ETFs don&#8217;t own any physical gold at all, opting for futures or swap contracts instead, subjecting investors to counterparty risk, particularly in times of market stress. Invesco DB Precious Metals Fund (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DBP#NYSE">DBP</a>) and ProShares Ultra Gold (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UGL#NYSE">UGL</a>) are examples of such speculative funds, constructed more for short-term tactical use than long-term crisis protection.
To investors leveraging gold as a hedge against monetary breakdown, this makes all the difference. A futures-backed gold ETF can track price beautifully, until liquidity evaporates or the roll cost is unsustainable.
Global central banks are voting with their vaults. They've bought over 1,000 tonnes of gold in the last year, according to the World Gold Council, cited in a Bloomberg <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-06-03/gold-market-s-record-breaking-rally-powered-by-central-bank-buying?sref=TBDibEcD">report</a>, and now hold bullion equivalent to 18% of outstanding U.S. public debt—up from 13% a decade ago.
That&#8217;s had a long shadow over Treasuries and the dollar, and might drive more institutional money into physical gold exposure. If it does, ETFs that stockpile actual bullion, not promises to deliver bullion, might be the next best thing.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Know Your Gold</h2>
As gold charges toward $3,500, and possibly even $4,000 by mid-2026, according to Goldman <a href="https://www.cnbctv18.com/market/commodities/gold-prices-today-down-two-factors-may-hold-it-up-19605598.htm">projections</a>, ETF investors need to peer past the shiny charts.
Price is only part of the equation. In a time of geopolitical uncertainty, structural transparency, redemption rights, and vault geography may be what distinguishes gold ETFs that glitter from those that merely shine.

Turner was grilled by both Democrats and Republicans about the agency&#8217;s plans to continue serving&nbsp;older, disabled, and low-income Americans,&nbsp;as well as those recovering from disasters or experiencing homelessness. 
Turner clarified,&nbsp;&#8220;The goal here is not&nbsp;to serve less Americans. The&nbsp;goal here is to serve&nbsp;Americans better.&#8221;
Rep. David Joyce (R-Ohio) questioned the agency&#8217;s ability to assist disaster victims if it slashes funding for the Community Development Block Grant — Disaster Recovery program. Turner assured Joyce that HUD &#8220;will not allow disaster recovery and those that need assistance in disaster recovery to be lost on us.&#8221;

Democratic lawmakers voiced their apprehensions about the proposed cuts to homelessness services, including the elimination of the Housing for Persons with AIDS program, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-wants-slash-housing-funds-in-half-even-republicans-questioning-2025-6">reports</a> Insider. Turner countered that the agency isn&#8217;t merely cutting funding but is &#8220;going to be more effective and more efficient.&#8221;
Despite the president&#8217;s budget proposal, the final decision on the federal budget rests with Congress.&nbsp;Government funding is set to&nbsp;expire in September.

Trump's Plan To Cut HUD Budget by Half Faces Bipartisan Criticism on Capitol Hill

Real estate has been touted as a valuable asset for building long-term wealth, but small business expert Codie Sanchez <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@realcodiesanchez/video/7514800857137925419?lang=en">shot down the asset class as overrated</a>.&nbsp;
She explained that you shouldn't have to invest $400,000 to earn $400 in monthly cash flow until you pay off the mortgage. Sure, you can make the argument that landlords can raise rent to increase cash flow, but expenses also go up. Furthermore, many parts of the U.S. are experiencing sluggish rent growth rates, which isn't good for new real estate investors.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Real Estate Is High-Risk For Low Cash Flow</h2>
After asking people if they like the idea of taking $400,000 worth of risk for $400 in monthly cash flow, she calls real estate a high-risk asset that produces low cash flow.&nbsp;
Sanchez recommends that people buy small businesses instead to boost their ROI with the same capital. She mentions that it's possible to earn $4,800 per month with a $400,000 investment once you set up the business and capitalize on growth opportunities.
The potential cash flow is higher for private equity than real estate if you know what you're doing. Sanchez has expertise in this field and regularly shares her insights with her audience.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Sweat Equity Has A Low Ceiling With Real Estate</h2>
Sweat equity refers to putting in additional effort to increase an asset's value. For instance, you can make upgrades to a property to enhance its value. It's a key distinction between real estate and stocks since there is no way to apply sweat equity to a publicly traded corporation that you don't work for.
However, Sanchez explained that the sweat equity for private equity is much higher than real estate. While sweat equity in real estate can boost your returns by 10% to 20%, Sanchez asserts that some small business owners can double, triple, or even quintuple their returns if they apply sweat equity.&nbsp;

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Real Estate Investing Has Been Normalized</h2>
Investors can accumulate a wide range of assets, but most of the focus revolves around stocks and real estate. Buying publicly traded corporations is easy, and you'll see real estate in any neighborhood. One asset is easily accessible, while you can see clear reminders of the other asset's value everywhere you go.
There are also a lot more financial experts who talk about stock and real estate investing than there are people like Sanchez who discuss buying small businesses. Part of the reason may be that buying a small business is more difficult in the beginning. You have to know how to grow and manage a business before you can get the type of ROI Sanchez mentions in her presentation.
However, the relative lack of awareness around buying small businesses creates an opportunity for investors in the industry. Fewer investors help people buy small businesses for lower prices. There isn't as much demand that can push prices higher, such as multiple bidders targeting the same company.&nbsp;
Although stocks and real estate remain the most popular assets, venturing outside of these popular routes can lead to much higher returns.
