Inflation has also eased, allowing the Federal Reserve to slow down its rate changes, said the analyst.
However, the analyst warned that the cost of living, including high rent and basic expenses, continues to pressure consumers.
Consumer confidence has remained lower than pre-pandemic levels, and many restaurants are working to improve traffic by offering greater value in response to inflation concerns.
Commodity inflation, excluding coffee, has shown signs of normalization and December 2024 saw a year-on-year increase of around 16%, mainly driven by coffee prices, asserted the analyst.
Restaurants are expecting mid-single-digit inflation in 2025, assuming current prices hold and the industry is hoping for a more stable cost environment that can support margins amidst uncertain sales projections, added the analyst.
The analyst expressed concern about labor costs and said while wage inflation has slowed from the peaks seen during 2021 and 2022, December 2024 saw a year-on-year wage increase of 10.3%.
In menu pricing, restaurants are easing the aggressive price hikes seen in recent years and overall, the industry is moving towards smaller price increases as commodity and labor inflation stabilizes, said the analyst.

Wedbush analyst Nick Setyan maintained a Neutral rating for Starbucks but reduced the price target to $95, citing limited near-term visibility on revenue and earnings. Setyan highlighted CEO Brian Niccol&#8217;s focus on reducing wait times to under four minutes while maintaining the coffeehouse experience as a critical improvement. The company plans to eliminate alternative dairy upcharges, impacting U.S. margins by 1%, and will reduce promotional offers, prioritizing marketing efforts and store remodels.

With the latest push in valuation, Dogecoin passed the valuation of some well-known global companies.

What's Next: The cryptocurrency sector has been enjoying a surge in valuation and interest since the 2024 election with Dogecoin far from the only cryptocurrency trading higher.
Bitcoin hit several new all-time highs on Monday and is currently trading over $87,000.
Dogecoin hit a one-year high of $0.3278 on Monday and currently trades at $0.3251. While the cryptocurrency is up over 100% in the last seven days, Dogecoin trades below its all-time high which was previously set back in May 2021.
Dogecoin's current all-time high stands at $0.7376, a level reached on the same day Elon Musk appeared on an episode of "Saturday Night Live" and gave the meme crypto several shout-outs.
Musk's call to be in charge of the Department of Government Efficiency, or D.O.G.E. under President-elect Donald Trump has increased attention on Dogecoin.

Shares of Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/YUM#NYSE">YUM</a>) tanked in early trading on Wednesday, after the company reported <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/11/41755711/dow-jumps-400-points-yum-brands-posts-downbeat-earnings">downbeat third-quarter earnings</a>.
The company reported its results amid an <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings">exciting earnings season</a>. Here are some key analyst takeaways.
TD Cowen On Yum! Brands
<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings/analyst/58b05502b85e93000174c0ed/andrew-charles">Analyst Andrew Charles</a> maintained a Hold rating and price target of $145.
Management said that Taco Bell momentum had continued into the fourth quarter, driven in part by Cheesy Street Chalupas, the relaunch of the Cheeze-It platform and the $7 Luxe Craving Box, Charles said in a note. He raised the segment's same-store sales estimate for the quarter from 3% to 4%.
Yum! Brands guided to 4.5%-5% net restaurant development in 2024, versus consensus of 5%, attributing the lower guidance to "temporarily high closures in the Middle East impacted regions," the analyst stated. He added, however, that "net openings have been slowing across key development regions."

KeyBanc Capital Markets On Yum! Brands
<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings/analyst/58e64302b85e9300014c97e6/eric-gonzalez">Analyst Eric Gonzalez</a> reaffirmed a Sector Weight rating on the stock.
The company's consolidated global same-store sales declined by 2%, missing market expectations, Gonzalez said. Taco Bell recorded 4% same-store sales growth, outperforming consensus of 3.1%, while same-store sales at both KFC and Pizza Hut declined by 4% each, more steeply than expected, he added.
"For KFC and Pizza Hut, the combination of ongoing geopolitical headwinds in various markets (e.g., Middle East, Indonesia, and Malaysia), macro pressure in China, and increasing value competition in the brands&#8217; respective categories led to the SSS shortfall in the quarter," the analyst wrote. Store closures could accelerate in the fourth quarter, mainly due to tensions in the Middle East, he further stated.
YUM Price Action: Shares of Yum! Brands were down 1.2% to $132.99 at the time of publication on Wednesday.

The CNN Money Fear and Greed index showed an improvement in the overall market sentiment, but the index remained in the &#8220;Fear&#8221; zone on Tuesday.
U.S. stocks settled higher on Monday, with the Dow Jones index gaining more than 400 points as investors awaited the results of the U.S. presidential election. The Federal Reserve is also scheduled to announce its November rate decision on Thursday.
On the economic data front, the trade deficit in the U.S. increased to $84.4 billion in September, recording the highest level since April 2022, and above market estimates of a $84.1 billion gap, versus a revised $70.8 billion gap in August. The ISM services PMI rose to 56 in October, recording the highest reading since Aug. 2022.
Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/YUM#NYSE">YUM</a>) posted downbeat results for its third quarter. Shares of Vimeo Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/VMEO#NASDAQ">VMEO</a>) jumped around 45% on Tuesday after the company reported better-than-expected third-quarter financial results and issued fourth-quarter sales guidance above estimates.
All sectors on the S&amp;P 500 closed on a positive note, with consumer discretionary, industrials, and utilities stocks recording the biggest gains on Tuesday.
The Dow Jones closed higher by around 427 points to 42,221.88 on Tuesday. The S&amp;P 500 gained 1.23% to 5,782.76, while the Nasdaq Composite jumped 1.43% to close at 18,439.17 during Tuesday's session.
Investors are awaiting earnings results from CVS Health Corporation (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CVS#NYSE">CVS</a>), Johnson Controls International plc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JCI#NYSE">JCI</a>), and Qualcomm Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QCOM#NASDAQ">QCOM</a>) today.
What is CNN Business Fear &amp; Greed Index?
At a current reading of 43.5, the index remained in the &#8220;Fear&#8221; zone on Tuesday, versus a prior reading of 41.2.
The Fear &amp; Greed Index is a measure of the current market sentiment. It is based on the premise that higher fear exerts pressure on stock prices, while higher greed has the opposite effect. The index is calculated based on seven equal-weighted indicators. The index ranges from 0 to 100, where 0 represents maximum fear and 100 signals maximum greediness.

Dow, Nasdaq Jump Over 1% Ahead Of Election Results: Investor Sentiment Improves, But Greed Index Remains In 'Fear' Zone

Yum China Holdings Ltd.&nbsp;(NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/yumc#NYSE">YUMC</a>) announced on Monday it will boost its spending on repurchasing its shares and paying dividends, as it continued to deliver solid revenue and core operating profit growth of 5% and 18%, respectively, in the third quarter despite a challenging operating environment. It said the results demonstrated the effectiveness of its strategy and ability to outperform in a challenging and fluid environment.
Yum China also said it was further raising its cash allocation for share buybacks and dividends, often referred to by companies as &ldquo;returning value to shareholders,&rdquo; to $4.5 billion over the three years from 2024 to 2026 from a previous commitment of $3 billion.
The company has already spent nearly three times as much on shareholder returns in the first nine months of this year as it did in the same period last year, including over $1 billion in share repurchases and $187 million in quarterly dividends.
Yum China has continually repurchased its shares since it was spun off from its former parent,&nbsp;Yum Brands&nbsp;(NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/yum#NYSE">YUM</a>) in 2016. The company has grown rapidly since Yum opened its first KFC in Beijing in 1987, and it is now the country&rsquo;s largest restaurant operator.
While share buybacks provide value to shareholder by reducing the size of a company&rsquo;s outstanding shares, Yum China said it canceled its repurchased shares, which is more beneficial to shareholder than other treatment. Yum China has bought back more than 27 million shares this year, around 7% of its total shares outstanding. That has helped its earnings per share (EPS) to grow more quickly than actual profit growth, with its EPS up 33% in this year&rsquo;s third quarter, ahead of the 22% rise in its actual net profit for the period.
Yum China&rsquo;s cumulative shareholder returns have exceeded $4 billion since it first listed in the U.S. in 2016. It picked up the pace sharply after making a second listing in Hong Kong in 2020. Yum China&rsquo;s cash position remains healthy, with net cash of $3.1 billion at the end of September. &nbsp;
