U.S. Bancorp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/USB#NYSE">USB</a>) announced today that President Gunjan Kedia will become the company's chief executive officer at the conclusion of the organization's annual meeting of shareholders on April 15. Kedia also was elected to the company's Board of Directors. Current Chairman and CEO Andy Cecere will serve as executive chairman, continuing to lead the Board of Directors and supporting Kedia as she assumes her new role.

Goldman Sachs analyst Richard Ramsden reiterated the Neutral rating on U.S. Bancorp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/USB#NYSE">USB</a>), <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/USB/analyst-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">lowering the price forecast to $49.</a>
Last week, the company reported&nbsp;fourth quarter&nbsp;adjusted earnings per share of $1.07, beating the street view of $1.05.
Quarterly sales of $6.98 billion marginally missed the analyst <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/01/43028258/us-bancorp-beats-q4-eps-estimates-return-on-tangible-equity-hits-183-as-ceo-emphasizes-resilience-amid-challenges" rel="noreferrer noopener">consensus estimate of $6.996 billion</a>.
The analyst projects the company&#8217;s net interest income to grow 3% year-over-year in 2025, which is lower than peers due to limited upside from fixed asset repricing.
However, Ramsden sees an accelerated loan growth in the second half of 2025, potentially boosting&nbsp;&nbsp;net interest income.
U.S. Bancorp&#8217;s CET1 ratio stands at 10.6%, with an estimated adjusted ratio of 8.6%, above the regulatory minimum of 7.6%, but still below the 10% target for Category II banks, the analyst writes.

The company is expected to maintain a cautious approach to share buybacks, balancing capital distribution with the need for further capital build-up as it moves toward becoming a Category II bank by 2027.
The analyst&#8217;s 2025 and 2026 earnings per share (EPS) estimates remain largely unchanged, with a new 2027 EPS estimate of $5.35 and an unchanged P/E target of 11.5x for 2025.
However, Ramsden forecasts a few downside risks for the stock, which include slower revenue growth than forecast, lower cost savings from the integration of Union Bank, a greater increase in credit losses, and the risk of higher regulatory, IT, and compliance costs.
Price Action: USB shares are trading higher by 1.63% to $49.15 at last check Tuesday.

<h1 class="wp-block-heading">DA Davidson On US Bancorp</h1>
<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings/analyst/59072de6290fa70001f19989/peter-winter">Analyst Peter Winter</a> maintained a Buy rating and a price target of $60.
US Bancorp reported its fourth-quarter earnings at $1.01 <a>per share</a>, with core earnings of $1.07 per share surpassing consensus of $1.05 per share, Winter said in a note. The company's net interest income (NII) rose $11 million, or 0.3%, to $4.176 billion, in-line with expectations, he added.
US Bancorp has reported positive operating leverage (POL) of more than 0.5% only once since 2016, with the figure being negative in six of those years, the analyst stated. "However, USB has turned the corner," generating positive POL in the third and fourth quarters of 2024 and has guided to a 200+ basis points of POL for the first quarter and 2025, "led by 3% to 5% total revenue growth," he further wrote.

<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Keefe, Bruyette &amp; Woods On US Bancorp</h1>
Analyst David Konrad reiterated a Market Perform rating and price target of $58.
US Bancorp reported "a modest operating beat" for the fourth quarter, with NII of $4.2 billion in-line with expectations, Konrad said. Net interest margins came in at 2.71%, down sequentially by three basis points (bps) and below "our estimate of 2.73%," he added.
"NII growth for 2025 is embedded in the firm&#8217;s +3-5% net revenue guide, and assumes two rate cuts, and is expected to benefit from better asset mix, stabilization in NIBD mix shift, and fixed asset repricing," the analyst wrote. Although the company's 2025 guidance came in below Street expectations, the market reaction seems to be overdone, he further stated.
USB Price Action: Shares of US Bancorp had risen by 0.19% to $48.13 at the time of publication on Friday.

US Bancorp Reports Q4 Earnings Beat, 'Has Turned The Corner,' Analysts Say

Wall Street paused for a breather on Thursday, following Wednesday's big rally sparked by a softer-than-predicted December inflation report that fueled speculation on the Federal Reserve delivering interest rate <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/25/01/43003047/stocks-rise-on-core-inflation-slowdown-banks-rally-after-strong-q4-earnings-treasury-yields-plummet">cuts during the year. </a>
By midday, stocks were little changed as attention shifted to the next major event: Donald Trump's inauguration as 47th U.S. president on Monday.
On the data front, December retail sales rose 0.4% from the previous month, a slower pace than November's 0.8% increase and below expectations of 0.6%. Jobless claims climbed by 16,000 to 217,000, slightly higher than <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/25/01/43027744/retail-sales-slow-jobless-claims-rise-is-us-consumer-loosing-steam">the projected 210,000. </a>

The weaker data sent Treasury yields lower, with the 10-year yield slipping four basis points to 4.61%, extending the previous day's 14-basis-point decline.
Falling yields helped gold climb 0.9% to $2,970 per ounce, reaching a two-month high as investors moved toward safe-haven assets. 
Semiconductor stocks stood out the best-performing industry, with the iShares Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SOXX#NASDAQ">SOXX</a>) gaining 1.8%. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSM#NYSE">TSM</a>) jumped more than 5% after delivering strong quarterly earnings, lifting the broader chip industry. Applied Materials Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMAT#NASDAQ">AMAT</a>) and ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ASML#NASDAQ">ASML</a>) advanced 7% and 6%, respectively.
Oil prices pulled back 2.6%, giving up part of Wednesday's 4% gain. Traders speculated that Trump's policies could ease sanctions on Russian energy exports as part of a broader effort to negotiate peace in Ukraine. 
Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) edged down 1% to $99,000, following a slight pullback across cryptocurrency markets.

Bank of New York Mellon Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BK#NYSE">BK</a>) posted EPS of $1.72, exceeding estimates by 10.3%, while revenue of $4.85 billion beat projections by 4.2%. The results were driven by robust pre-provision net revenue growth, up 9.5% year-over-year, fueled by NII growth of nearly 14%.
The bank achieved its medium-term targets of a 33% pre-tax margin and 23% return on tangible common equity (ROTCE), highlighting disciplined expense management. 
Shareholder returns were also strong, with $1.1 billion returned in the fourth quarter, including $750 million in buybacks.
Shares rallied by 5.7%, eyeing their highest one-day surge since July 2022.

U.S. Bancorp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/USB#NYSE">USB</a>) will release its fourth-quarter financial results before the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/USB/earnings">opening bell on Thursday, Jan. 16</a>.
Analysts expect the Minneapolis, Minnesota-based company to report quarterly earnings at $1.05 per share, up from 49 cents per share in the year-ago period. U.S. Bancorp projects quarterly revenue of $6.99 billion, compared to $6.73 billion a year earlier, according to data from <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga Pro</a>.
On Oct. 16, the company reported third-quarter adjusted earnings per share of $1.03, beating the analyst consensus estimate of 99 cents.
With the recent buzz around U.S. Bancorp, some investors may be eyeing potential gains from the company's dividends. As of now, U.S. Bancorp offers an annual dividend yield of 4.08%, which is a quarterly dividend amount of 50 cents per share ($2.00 a year).
To figure out how to earn $500 monthly from U.S. Bancorp, we start with the yearly target of $6,000 ($500 x 12 months).
Next, we take this amount and divide it by U.S. Bancorp's $2.00 dividend: $6,000 / $2.00 = 3,000 shares.
So, an investor would need to own approximately $147,180 worth of U.S. Bancorp, or 3,000 shares to generate a monthly dividend income of $500.

The dividend yield is calculated by dividing the annual dividend payment by the current stock price. As the stock price changes, the dividend yield will also change.
For example, if a stock pays an annual dividend of $2 and its current price is $50, its dividend yield would be 4%. However, if the stock price increases to $60, the dividend yield would decrease to 3.33% ($2/$60).
Conversely, if the stock price decreases to $40, the dividend yield would increase to 5% ($2/$40).
Further, the dividend payment itself can also change over time, which can also impact the dividend yield. If a company increases its dividend payment, the dividend yield will increase even if the stock price remains the same. Similarly, if a company decreases its dividend payment, the dividend yield will decrease.
