The Xi Jinping administration&#8217;s Ministry of Commerce has warned against the U.S. using tariffs to coerce other countries into restricting economic and trade cooperation with China.
What Happened: According to a recent <a href="https://www.mofcom.gov.cn/xwfb/xwfyrth/art/2025/art_3277f51446f143eda489a1bd5de6f72f.html">release</a> by the ministry, its spokesperson told reporters that President Donald Trump&#8216;s administration is &#8220;promoting hegemonic politics and implementing unilateral bullying in the economic and trade fields.&#8221;
&#8220;It should be pointed out in particular that China firmly opposes any party reaching a deal at the expense of China&#8217;s interests,&#8221; the spokesperson said, according to a translated version of the statement.
If the trading partners try to isolate Beijing, &#8220;China will never accept it and will resolutely take countermeasures in a reciprocal manner.&#8221;
The press release also stated that China is willing to strengthen solidarity and coordination with all parties, work together to resist unilateral bullying, safeguard its rights and interests, and defend international fairness and justice.

Price Action: As of Thursday&#8217;s close, the S&amp;P 500 index was down 14.1% from its all-time high of 6,147.43 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was 13.15% below its 52-week high, whereas the Nasdaq 100 index was 17.84% lower than its previous record.
The SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) and Invesco QQQ Trust ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>), which track the S&amp;P 500 index and Nasdaq 100 index, respectively, ended on a mixed note on Thursday. The SPY was up 0.14% to $526.41, while the QQQ declined 0.018% to $444.10, according to <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga Pro</a> data.
On Monday, the futures of Dow Jones, S&amp;P 500, and the Nasdaq 100 indices were down 0.70% at the time of writing.

SpaceX announced it will launch its Dragon Cargo Capsule to the International Space Station (ISS) from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida via its Falcon 9 Rocket on Monday, April 21, 4:15 AM EDT.
What Happened: As part of a resupply mission, Elon Musk's company will launch an uncrewed Dragon Cargo Capsule to the ISS aboard the Falcon 9 Rocket. The mission, dubbed the CRS-32 (Commercial Resupply Mission), is the Dragon Capsule's 32nd launch as part of NASA's resupply contract with SpaceX.

The company has shared that an alternate launch window dated Tuesday, April 22, at 3:53 AM is available for the mission, should there be any delays on Monday. SpaceX says the flight will last about 28 hours, after which the capsule will &#8220;autonomously dock&#8221; to the ISS.
SpaceX says the Falcon 9 Rocket will land at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station after separation from the capsule post-launch.
NASA revealed that in addition to essential supplies for the crew aboard the ISS, the capsule will also carry two atomic clocks and an advanced air quality monitoring system that could aid astronauts in future Moon and Mars exploratory missions.
Why It Matters: News of the launch comes in as SpaceX is making moves in the space exploration sector, having recently emerged as a ‘frontrunner' for key <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/44861620/spacex-palantir-frontrunners-in-bid-that-could-build-donald-trumps-golden-dome-report">Pentagon defense contracts</a>.

Memecoins followed Bitcoin's (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) Sunday evening breakout, with Fartcoin again spearheading the sector-wide rally.
What happened: The Solana (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/sol/usd">SOL</a>)-based cryptocurrency spiked 4.67% over the previous day, becoming the biggest gainer among the top ten meme coins by market capitalization.
The silly-sounding coin has risen 111% in the last month, defying the tariff-induced bearishness in the broader cryptocurrency market.
Interestingly, a whale who had suffered big losses on previous FARTCOIN transactions and was holding unrealized losses flipped the script, selling around $2.47 million worth of memecoin for a $127,000 profit, according to Lookonchain.

Among individuals Bukele suggested being released from Venezuela were activist lawyer Rocío San Miguel and journalist Roland Carreño, actions against whom have drawn <a href="https://www.amnesty.org/en/petition/free-the-wrongly-imprisoned-in-venezuela/">criticism</a> from groups like Amnesty International. Bukele also mentioned&nbsp;nearly 50 detained citizens of&nbsp;other nationalities, including Americans, Germans, and Dominicans, among others.
Venezuela&#8217;s Attorney General, Tarek William Saab, criticized Bukele&#8217;s proposal and accused El Salvador of &#8220;arbitrarily&#8221; detaining Venezuelans in a state of &#8220;enforced disappearance in a concentration camp,&#8221; according to Venezuela&#8217;s news network Globovisión. 
He also sought to know what offenses the detainees were charged with, if they had access to legal recourse, and if they had been permitted to speak to anybody since their detention.

Why It Matters: This proposal comes amid escalating tensions over the deportation of individuals accused of committing violent crimes by the Donald Trump administration. 
Notably, in response to requests from lawyers for the American Civil Liberties Union, the U.S. Supreme Court temporarily stopped the deportation of a group of Venezuelan migrants on Saturday, according to Reuters.

According to Amnesty International, El Salvador's prison system is&nbsp;<a href="https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2023/12/el-salvador-policies-practices-legislation-violate-human-rights/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">notorious</a>&nbsp;for widespread human rights violations, violence, and overcrowding.
