Regarding the Japan trade deal, he pointed to comments from Japan's chief negotiator revealing that &#8220;only 1% of it will actually be invested in America&#8221; with the remaining 99% in the form of a loan. 
Referring to the $750 billion that the EU is going to spend on American energy, Elson says, &#8220;once again, not a deal. Nothing&#8217;s been signed,&#8221; before adding that Europe was already going to buy that energy due to the war in Ukraine and the resulting sanctions on Russia.
NYU Professor Scott Galloway, however, believes that this was a win for Trump, saying that &#8220;this is a good deal for the US and a bad deal for the EU.&#8221; He says, even if it&#8217;s a perceptual win, it is still a &#8220;lowercase win for the Trump administration.&#8221; 
Galloway, nonetheless, believes that the EU's agreement may have been more about optics than substance, saying, &#8220;I&#8217;d like to think that Trump said, &#8216;Give me a win here. Give me a great press release, and I'll continue to ship arms into Ukraine.'&#8221;

Leading economists believe the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/macro-economic-events/25/07/46651859/trumps-new-eu-trade-deal-labeled-bad-news-by-economists-as-dow-futures-spike-over-150-points">EU deal is &#8220;bad news&#8221;</a> for American consumers, since they will have to bear the burden of the 15% tariffs. 
However, other analysts and experts have called the deal good for the U.S. stock markets, saying that <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/07/46680436/trumps-eu-deal-good-for-us-markets-say-experts-meta-aapl-pltr-among-likely-winners-see-full-list">it removes uncertainties</a>, and at 15%, the tariffs are lower than what was feared earlier.

Fred Thiel, CEO of&nbsp;MARA Holdings Inc.&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MARA#NASDAQ">MARA</a>), expressed reservations Tuesday about the future success of the Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) treasury play popularized by Michael Saylor&#8217;s Strategy Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSTR#NASDAQ">MSTR</a>).
What Happened: During the company&#8217;s second-quarter earnings call, Thiel praised Saylor and his team for pioneering the Bitcoin treasury strategy, but voiced concerns about the risk of market saturation.
&#8220;You know, kudos to Michael and his team, for what they've done there. But any advantage in any market starts disappearing when you have lots of companies going after it,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They can't all be successful.&#8221;

&#8220;If Bitcoin, especially for the newer treasury companies, sees a decline, they may be challenged, and people may sell them the stock to get their money out,&#8221; he argued. &#8220;And I think, with as many companies doing this as there are, a certain percentage of them will likely fail. And so that will negatively impact the price of Bitcoin.&#8221;

What Happened: The deal would see LG supply batteries to Tesla from its U.S. production facility, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing an anonymous source familiar with the matter.
The LFP battery supply contract is expected to last approximately three years, from August 2027 to July 2030, according to the report, with an option to extend the deal for up to seven years.
Why It Matters: The supply contract arrives at a time when LG had warned that President Trump's tariffs would lead to a decline in <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/07/46627485/trump-tariffs-are-causing-decline-in-ev-battery-demand-says-tesla-general-motors-supplier-lg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">EV battery demand </a>in America. According to Uber's latest U.S. safety <a href="https://uber.app.box.com/s/lea3xzb70bp2wxe3k3dgk2ghcyr687x3?uclick_id=46d3f8fb-cc10-450b-ba9e-c60261262b20">report</a>, there were 36 physical assault fatalities and 2,717 reported sexual assaults across 1.8 billion trips during 2021 and 2022. While these incidents account for a small fraction of all trips, those incidents — combined with ongoing concerns about physical assault — have pushed Uber to expand its suite of safety features in recent years, including audio/video recording and verified rider badges.
