Analysts sought to brush aside concerns of a bear market, stating that it's not as much of a concern and that it is likely a rotational behavior.
"Statistically, this type of action is extreme and typically comes at the end of a bear market in a waterfall sell-off and not right after an all-time high. A simple reflexive rebound to the 20-day moving average would wipe out half the decline," said Ivan Martchev, investment strategist at Navellier &amp; Associates.
Martchev pointed to a drastic decline in VIX, also known as the fear gauge index, which fell nearly 10% and 11.72% in two sessions last week.
He added that the chances of the S&amp;P 500 making an all-time high in the second quarter this year are "better than ever," but this is contingent on President Donald Trump registering a few trade war wins.
Ryan Detrick, chief market strategist at Carson Group, brushed aside bearish concerns, too.
He pointed to the sharp 34% decline in the S&amp;P 500 five years ago on this day due to the COVID-19-related shutdowns.
"The S&amp;P 500 was up nearly 200% (total return) earlier this year off those lows. Remember that the next time you hear some scary headlines," he said.

The CNN Money Fear and Greed index showed some improvement in the overall market sentiment, while the index remained in the &#8220;Extreme Fear&#8221; zone on Friday.
U.S. stocks settled higher on Friday, with the S&amp;P 500 recording slight gains during the session. The broad-market S&amp;P 500 also reported gains last week after recording losses for four straight weeks. The Nasdaq gained 0.2%, while the Dow added 1.2% during the week.
FedEx Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FDX#NYSE">FDX</a>) shares dipped more than 6% on Friday after the company's third-quarter adjusted EPS results missed analysts&#8217; expectations. Shares of Nike Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NKE#NYSE">NKE</a>) fell more than 5% on Friday after the company reported third-quarter financial results.
Shares of Micron Technology Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MU#NASDAQ">MU</a>) fell around 8% Friday after the company reported second-quarter financial results.
Most sectors on the S&amp;P 500 closed on a negative note, with materials, real estate, and utilities stocks recording losses on Friday. However, communication services and consumer discretionary stocks bucked the overall market trend, closing the session higher.
The Dow Jones closed higher by around 32 points to 41,985.35 on Friday. The S&amp;P 500 rose 0.08% to 5,667.56, while the Nasdaq Composite climbed 0.52% at 17,784.05 during Friday's session.

What is CNN Business Fear &amp; Greed Index?
At a current reading of 22.6, the index remained in the &#8220;Extreme Fear&#8221; zone on Friday, versus a prior reading of 22.2.
The Fear &amp; Greed Index is a measure of the current market sentiment. It is based on the premise that higher fear exerts pressure on stock prices, while higher greed has the opposite effect. The index is calculated based on seven equal-weighted indicators. The index ranges from 0 to 100, where 0 represents maximum fear and 100 signals maximum greediness.

S&P 500 Ends 4-Week Losing Streak: Investor Fear Eases Slightly, But Greed Index Remains In 'Extreme Fear' Zone

On Friday, JPMorgan analyst Christopher Horvers reiterated the Neutral rating on Academy Sports and Outdoors, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ASO#NASDAQ">ASO</a>), <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/ASO/analyst-ratings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">raising the price forecast to $54 from $52.</a>
Yesterday, the firm reported fourth-quarter adjusted earnings per share of $1.96,&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/03/44421964/academy-sports-beats-q4-eps-estimates-comparable-sales-dip-3" rel="noreferrer noopener">beating the street view of $1.83</a>.&nbsp;Quarterly sales of $1.676 billion (down 6.6% year over year) missed the analyst consensus estimate of $1.677 billion by a hairline.
The analyst notes that Academy Sports has made progress in improving new store site selection for the second half of 2024, following underwhelming performance when it initially started its unit growth story in 2022.

Academy Sports is also expanding its Nike, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NKE#NYSE">NKE</a>) product assortment to 145 of its 300+ locations, as well as on its website, starting this April, aiming to compete with Dick&#8217;s Sporting Goods Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DKS#NYSE">DKS</a>) for brand access.
However, Horvers points out that the macroeconomic environment presents challenges for Academy Sports, particularly compared to competitors like Dick&#8217;s Sporting, due to its higher exposure to lower-income consumers.
Despite this, the analyst remains neutral on Academy Sports, acknowledging its attractive valuation but expressing &#8220;uncertainty&#8221; about how much growth the company can achieve given the current market conditions.
The analyst models 1Q/FY25 comps of -3.5%/flat, respectively.

JP Morgan analyst Matthew Boss maintains Nike (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NKE#NYSE">NKE</a>) with a Neutral and lowers the price target from $73 to $64.

JP Morgan Maintains Neutral on Nike, Lowers Price Target to $64

Nike Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NKE#NYSE">NKE</a>) analysts provide a cautious tone for the apparel company's turnaround and short-term growth after the company's third-quarter financial results.
The Nike Analysts:

<li>Stifel analyst Jim Duffy maintained a Hold rating on Nike with a $75 price target.</li>
<li>Goldman Sachs analyst Brooke Roach maintained a Buy rating and lowered the price target from $90 to $88.</li>
<li>Needham analyst Tom Nikic maintained a Buy rating and lowered the price target from $80 to $75.</li>
<li>Telsey analyst Cristina Fernandez maintained a Market Perform rating with a $80 price target.</li>
<li>Oppenheimer analyst Brian Nagel maintained an Outperform rating with a $120 price target.</li>
</ul>
Stifel on NKE: Nike's return to growth could be several quarters away, Duffy said in a new investor note.
"Strategically, the marketplace cleanup is on track, though we expect a return to healthy growth to take several quarters before positive revenue inflection," Duffy said.
The analyst said China remains a challenge for Nike.
While Nike has a "market-leading position," Duffy said the company is in the "middle innings" of a cleanup with no upside at current levels.
"At the current multiple, we believe a return to growth and margin improvement is discounted in shares suggesting risk/reward largely in balance at current levels."
Goldman Sachs on NKE: The apparel company's strategy is on track, Roach said in a new investor note.
"We believe today's results provided fodder for both bulls and bears in the quarter, and thus expect the stock to remain heavily debated going forward," Roach said.
The analyst said Nike is "early in its turnaround journey."
Roach said management's commentary showed pressure on the company to develop new products, reposition the Nike digital marketplace, clean up inventory, and reset its wholesale business.
"We continue to believe that NKE's strategic actions are the appropriate moves to reset Nike to return to future growth."
Needham on NKE: The apparel company's strategy of "win now" could be working, but a return to growth is moving later and later, Nikic said in a new investor note.
"We continue to have confidence in CEO Elliott Hill, but it will take time for the bull thesis to play out," Nikic said.
One of the analyst's key concerns is inventory with Nike saying it was working with retailers to take back unsold inventory to make room for new products. This could lead to a large headwind in the fourth quarter before things get better in fiscal 2026.
The analyst said gross margins are seeing big pressure in the near-term and could decline further in the fourth quarter.
"This one-time darling of investors has clearly been off its game in recent years, but we believe that the worst may nearly be over."
Nikic said Nike could be a "compelling story stock" in 2025 if the stock finds a bottom.
Telsey on NKE: Third quarter results were better than expected but were offset by weak guidance and management commentary, Fernandez said in a new investor note.
"We believe Nike is making the right moves by cleaning up inventory, rebalancing the product portfolio by increasing newness and reducing the focus on classic franchises, and strengthening relationships with wholesale partners, but the brand is still several quarters away from reaching stabilization," Fernandez said.
The analyst said management commentary suggests more profit headwinds and struggles ahead.
Nike sales in Greater China were down 15% year-over-year in constant currency in the quarter. The analyst said China's macroeconomic environment remains challenging and Nike is seeing more competition.
Oppenheimer on NKE: A recovery for the apparel company is "taking shape," Nagel said in a new investor note.
The analyst said the third-quarter results were better than expected.
"While results at NKE continue to track weak, we believe that underlying trends at the company are starting to improve and set up for a potentially meaningful rebound, in coming quarters," Nagel said.
NKE Price Action: Nike stock is down 5.3% to $68.04 on Friday, hitting new 52-week lows of $65.17 earlier in the day's trading session. Nike stock is down 9.4% year-to-date in 2025 and down 34% over the last year.

(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MU#NASDAQ">MU</a>) fell sharply in today's pre-market trading following <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/03/44425486/micron-q2-earnings-revenue-beat-data-center-sales-triple-eps-beat-strong-guidance-shares-jump">second-quarter results</a>.
Micron reported second-quarter revenue of $8.05 billion, beating the consensus estimate of $7.89 billion. Total revenue was up from $5.82 billion on a year-over-year basis. The company reported second-quarter adjusted earnings of $1.56 per share, beating analyst estimates of $1.42 per share, according to Benzinga Pro.
Micron expects third-quarter revenue of $8.8 billion, plus or minus $200 million, versus estimates of $8.49 billion. The company anticipates third-quarter adjusted earnings of $1.57 per share, plus or minus 10 cents per share, versus estimates of $1.47 per share.
Micron shares fell 2.6% to $100.28 in the pre-market trading session.
