What Happened: Xiaomi took to the Chinese social media platform Weibo to announce that it had received over 289,000 orders for its YU7 SUV on Thursday, after the company said it received over 200,000 orders in just 3 minutes.

The YU7 is available in three variants: Standard, Pro and Max. The SUV retails for around 253,500 RMB or approximately $35,000 for the standard variant. The range-topping Max variant comes in at around 329,900 RMB or over $46,000.

The base standard variant undercuts the Tesla Model Y, which was the best-selling SUV in China, by 10,000 RMB or $1,400. It offers a claimed range of 515 miles on a single charge. The Max variant offers AWD and a claimed range of 472 miles with NMC batteries.

Several Chinese manufacturers are unveiling new models. BYD Co. Ltd. (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BYDDY#OTC">BYDDY</a>) (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BYDDF#OTC">BYDDF</a>) also launched its <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/06/45855643/tesla-rival-byd-launches-15000-seal-06-sedan-as-chinas-ev-price-war-heats-up">Seal 06 EV sedan</a>, priced at over $15,000. The EV undercut Tesla's Model 3 by almost half.

But as she recently pointed out, life doesn't always stick to the plan.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">1. You May Not Work in Retirement — Even If You Want To</h2>
Many people imagine retirement as a mix of relaxation and part-time work to stay busy and bring in a little extra cash. In fact, <a href="https://www.ebri.org/docs/default-source/rcs/2024-rcs/2024-rcs-release-report.pdf">EBRI's 2024 Retirement Confidence Survey</a> shows that 75% of workers expect to earn money after they retire.
But in reality, only 30% of retirees actually do.
Orman says it's easy to overestimate how long you'll be able — or willing — to keep working. Health issues can show up unexpectedly, caregiving duties might fall in your lap, or you just might not be able to find the kind of work you expected.
What to do:
Try not to build your retirement plan around the idea that you'll still be earning income. Instead, Orman says to focus on saving more now, and make sure your retirement budget doesn't depend on a paycheck.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">2. You Might Retire Sooner Than Planned</h2>
A lot of people target 65 as their retirement age — right around the time they expect to claim Social Security. But according to the EBRI survey, the average retirement age is actually 62.
Even more eye-opening: More than half of retirees say they left work earlier than expected, and many didn't have a choice. Some were laid off. Others left due to health problems or to care for a loved one.
What to do:
Ask yourself, "What if I had to stop working next year?" If that thought makes you nervous, consider ways to build some breathing room — whether that's <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/management/25/06/46025926/she-spent-years-paying-off-300000-in-student-debt-now-that-its-gone-this-doctor-wants-to-quit-her-190000-job">paying off debt</a>, increasing your emergency fund, or simply saving more if you're able to. "If you're not sure about that, then now is when you still have some time to plan for the unexpected," Orman wrote.

A lot of workers say they plan to ease into retirement — maybe by cutting back their hours or working part-time for a while. But that's not how it goes for most people.
In fact, nearly 75% of retirees say their transition wasn't gradual at all. One day they were working, the next day they weren't.
What to do:
Even if you hope for a soft landing, make sure you're prepared for a more sudden shift. That includes thinking through both the financial and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/financial-advisors/25/06/46067643/an-investor-asks-do-most-people-not-invest-for-retirement-they-cant-understand-the-mentality-of-spending-every-paycheck-immediately">emotional sides of retirement</a> — how you'll spend your time, stay connected, and cover your expenses.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Planning for Life's Curveballs</h2>
Orman's advice is simple: Hope for the best, but plan for the unexpected. Retirement doesn't always follow the script, so it's smart to build a plan that can handle a few surprises.
"It is fantastic to make plans and to work toward those plans," Orman wrote. "But the best plans are stress-tested to make sure they have a high probability of success, no matter what curveballs come your way."

Constellation Brands Earnings Are Imminent; These Most Accurate Analysts Revise Forecasts Ahead Of Earnings Call

Alphabet Inc.'s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>) (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) Google has been dealt a legal blow in Japan as a court has ruled that the company infringed on patents held by Pantech, resulting in a ban on the sale of its Pixel 7 series smartphones.
What Happened: A Japanese court has ruled that Google violated a patent owned by Pantech, a South Korean phone maker, related to signal mapping technology in LTE networks, a core component of 4G communications, <a href="https://9to5google.com/2025/06/26/google-pixel-japan-sales-ban/">reported</a> 9To5Google, citing ET News.
As a result, Google is now prohibited from selling, displaying, transferring, or importing its Pixel 7 series devices in Japan. The court criticized Google's approach to the dispute, describing it as insincere.

Pantech, which has not released any new phones recently, is pursuing further sales bans for Google's Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 models, although it remains unclear whether these efforts will succeed.
Google did not immediately respond to <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga's</a> request for comments.
Why It&#8217;s Important: While the sales ban on Pixel 7 devices in Japan may not significantly impact Google's global operations, Japan has become a key market for the Pixel brand, the report said.
The Pixel 7 series, particularly the Pixel 7a, contributed to a surge in sales for Google in Japan in 2023.
According to Statcounter Global Stats, as of May 2025, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) dominated the mobile vendor market in Japan with a share of 62.46%.
Google held a distant second place with 5.81%, followed closely by Xiaomi (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/XIACF#OTC">XIACF</a>) at 5.72%. The &#8220;Unknown&#8221; category accounted for 5.66%, while Samsung Electronics Co. This infinite workday "starts early, mostly in email, and quickly swells to a focus-sapping flood of messages, meetings, and interruptions," the report says.&nbsp;
An average employee is online by six am, reviewing a fraction of the 117 emails they'll receive that day. By the time they're entering peak productivity hours, between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and again between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., they're knee-deep in meetings and receiving workflow interruptions every two minutes.&nbsp;
Things aren't winding down in the evening, either. Microsoft's data shows that there has been a 16% increase in meetings after 8 p.m. year-over-year. Additionally, the average employee receives 50+ teams messages outside of core work hours.

"AI can give us the leverage to redesign the rhythm of work, refocus our teams on new and differentiating work, and fix what has become a seemingly infinite workday. The question isn't whether work will change. It's whether we will," the report reads.
Outsourcing mundane tasks is a good place to start. "By deploying AI and agents to streamline low-value tasks—status meetings, routine reports, admin churn—leaders can reclaim time for what moves the business: deep work, fast decisions, and focused execution," the report says.
But it's "agent bosses" or "human agent teams" that are the real future of work, the report says. Many retirees don't realize there's a special rule for those who retire mid-year. This rule allows you to use a monthly earnings limit in your first year of retirement, instead of the full-year limit.

In this retiree's case, he earned only $900 from August through December — well under the monthly threshold. Under the special rule, he may still qualify to keep the benefits he received in those months.
