The Bristol Myers Squibb Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BMY#NYSE">BMY</a>) and Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PFE#NYSE">PFE</a>) alliance announced a new direct-to-patient option for purchasing Eliquis (apixaban) via the alliance&#8217;s patient resource, Eliquis 360 <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/health-care">Support, on Thursday.</a>
Eliquis is a blood-thinning medication that reduces blood clotting and prevents strokes.
In May 2024, Pfizer said it is&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/05/38595739/pfizer-prospects-garner-mixed-sentiment-from-analysts-finally-the-pivot-investors-h" rel="noreferrer noopener">looking to build</a> on the success of its&nbsp;COVID-19&nbsp;vaccine rollout by introducing a direct-to-consumer medicines platform under the brand "Pfizer for All."&nbsp;
In August 2024, Pfizer introduced&nbsp;the PfizerForAll&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/insights/options/25/03/44202700/pfizers-options-a-look-at-what-the-big-money-is-thinking" rel="noreferrer noopener">digital platform in collaboration</a> with UpScriptHealth, Alto Pharmacy, and Instacart.
The move, as reflected in a recent trademark application, aims to provide medical information, mail-order pharmacy services, and telehealth <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/top-stories/24/05/38798101/pfizer-follows-eli-lillys-footsteps-to-sell-medicines-directly-to-patients" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">services to US patients</a>.
The offering provides an opportunity for uninsured, underinsured, or self-pay patients to lower their <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/07/b46462973/bristol-myers-squibb-and-pfizer-announce-direct-to-patient-eliquis-apixaban-option" rel="noreferrer noopener">out-of-pocket costs</a>.
Beginning Sept. 8, eligible U.S. patients with an Eliquis prescription may purchase the medicine directly through Eliquis 360 Support. They will pay a discounted rate of more than 40% less than the current list price.
The program will provide direct shipping to patients across all 50 states and Puerto Rico, offering an additional, simplified option for accessing Eliquis and full transparency into the associated costs.

With more than 15 million Americans having been prescribed Eliquis since its launch, the medicine has resulted in an estimated $3 billion in total healthcare cost savings and avoidance, including hospitalization and extended rehabilitation needs, for every 100,000 patients treated.
The Wall Street Journal was the first to <a target="_blank" href="http://www.wsj.com/health/pharma/bristol-myers-and-pfizer-to-offer-blockbuster-blood-thinner-at-discount-3c0513ef" rel="noreferrer noopener">report</a> the update.
The report, citing a source, stated that the Bristol-Pfizer partnership opted to launch direct sales of Eliquis following discussions with the Trump administration about making the drug more affordable.
Eliquis, which normally costs $606 for a 30-day supply, will now be sold directly to patients for a reduced cash price of $346 per month.
In the past, drugmakers didn't sell their medicines straight to consumers. Instead, they used middlemen called wholesalers to distribute the drugs and depended on insurance companies to cover most of the costs.
In January 2024, drugmaker Eli Lilly And Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LLY#NYSE">LLY</a>) became the first to launch a new website allowing patients to get a prescription for weight loss <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/biotech/24/01/36495250/eli-lilly-launches-website-to-help-patients-with-home-delivery-options-for-weight-loss-medicines" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">through a telehealth provider</a>.
LillyDirect&nbsp;offers disease management resources, including access to independent healthcare providers, tailored support, and direct home delivery of select Lilly medicines through third-party pharmacy dispensing services.
In March 2025, in a letter addressed to UpScriptHealth CEO Peter Ax, senators expressed concern about the financial relationship between Pfizer and UpScriptHealth, given its potential implications for the federal <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/biotech/25/03/44311862/pfizers-direct-to-consumer-model-faces-scrutiny-from-us-senators" rel="noreferrer noopener">Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS)</a>.
The letter states that the PfizerForAll program, funded by the drugmaker, appears to be designed to direct patients toward specific drugs, which could lead to unnecessary prescriptions and higher costs for federal healthcare programs.
The letter notes that pharmaceutical companies, including Pfizer, spend approximately $6 billion annually on Direct-to-consumer (DTC) advertising.
Price Action: PFE stock is down 0.08% at $24.59, and BMY stock is up 1.51% at $47.88 at the last check on Thursday.

The news comes after Tesla reported a&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/asia/25/07/46289899/tesla-china-sales-plunge-over-75-in-first-week-of-july-despite-strong-q2-deliveries" rel="noreferrer noopener">75% plunge in sales</a> in China during the first week of July as the company recorded<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/07/46409821/tesla-rebounds-in-china-with-12-3k-weekly-registrations-highest-2nd-week-ever" rel="noreferrer noopener"> 5,010 insured registrations.</a>
Bloomberg reports, citing data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's <a target="_blank" href="https://www.miit.gov.cn/datainfo/cpgg/art/2025/art_4efe58701e4b4d3da9d1ff4b0ad9951f.html" rel="noreferrer noopener">website</a>, that the vehicle will be about 150 centimeters (5.9 inches) longer than the existing Model Y.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Analyst Opinion</h2>
Goldman Sachs analyst&nbsp;Mark Delaney&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/TSLA/analyst-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">reiterated a Hold</a> rating on Tesla and set a price forecast of $285 on Thursday.
Delaney&nbsp;expressed optimism about Tesla's Model YL, a new variant of the Model Y, which will likely boost the company's position in the three-row SUV market.
Announced on July 16, the Model YL is about 7 inches longer and 1.5-2 inches taller than the current Model Y, which should make it a more viable option for families needing a three-row SUV, per the analyst.
He noted that the Model Y currently offers a third row, but its limited space makes it suitable mainly for children.
In contrast, the Model YL will likely feature six seats and is positioned to compete effectively in the SUV market in the U.S., Europe, and China, Delaney&nbsp;noted.
While Tesla has not disclosed the exact price for the Model YL, reports suggest it will be priced around 400K Chinese yuan ($37,000), as per the analyst. For context, he noted that the U.S. Model Y starts at approximately $45,000, while the Model X starts at $90,000.
The pricing of the Model YL puts it in direct competition with other three-row SUVs in the market, like the Toyota (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TM#NYSE">TM</a>) Highlander and the Ford (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/F#NYSE">F</a>) Explorer, which both start around $40,000 in the U.S. Tesla's new offering could attract customers who want a larger vehicle without stepping up to the more expensive Model X, Delaney&nbsp;said.
The analyst noted that Tesla will likely deliver 30,000 units of the Model YL in 2025, with an anticipated 175,000 units in 2026 and 375,000 units in 2027.
He writes that the company's overall delivery projections for 2025, 2026, and 2027 are 1.594 million, 1.865 million, and 2.15 million, respectively. Delaney&nbsp;noted this new model will help Tesla to capture the three-row SUV segment better, especially as the company seeks to expand its market share in the U.S. and Europe, where the mid-sized SUV market accounted for 19% of total vehicle units in the U.S. last year.
As per the analyst, Tesla's focus on creating a more differentiated product with the Model YL contrasts with initial investor expectations, which leaned toward a cost-reduced or slightly smaller version of the Model Y.
The announcement has already positively impacted Tesla's stock, with the shares rising 3.5% on July 16, outperforming the flat S&amp;P 500, he noted. Delaney said that this release is a strategic step to address growing demand in key regions, including the U.S., where SUVs dominate vehicle sales. Additionally, the analyst added that Tesla is expected to launch a lower-cost variant of the Model Y or 3 this year, which could further enhance its competitive edge.
Delaney projected fiscal 2025 revenue of $89.64 billion and EPS of $1.00.
Price Action:&nbsp;TSLA stock was down 0.94% at $318.66 at the last check Thursday.

What To Know: On Tuesday, Rivian confirmed it will establish an East Coast headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. The new office, set to open in late 2025, will serve as a complement to Rivian's $5 billion manufacturing facility under construction in Social Circle, Georgia. The Atlanta headquarters is expected to employ around 100 people by the end of next year, with the workforce growing to about 500 as operations ramp up.
Rivian also recently broke ground on a new service center in Laval, Québec, in partnership with Montoni Group. The center, aimed at improving after-sales service in the Canadian market, will be built by local partners and is part of Rivian's broader North American expansion strategy.
Rivian, earlier this week, also announced a<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/07/46425563/tesla-rival-rivians-custom-google-maps-is-here"> new in-car navigation system </a>developed in collaboration with Google, integrating Google Maps' Auto SDK. The system aims to enhance the EV driving experience with better route planning, energy monitoring and smart charging features. Rivian said its revamped Energy app now offers more detailed tracking of energy consumption and charging behavior. A Smart Charging feature will roll out later this month and bidirectional charging is planned for 2025.
<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/07/46385263/tesla-rival-rivian-could-lose-a-major-revenue-stream-due-to-a">Despite these developments</a>, Rivian continues to face broader industry pressures. The company reaffirmed its full-year delivery guidance of 40,000 to 46,000 vehicles after reporting 10,661 deliveries in the second quarter. However, policy changes under former President Donald Trump's administration could impact a key revenue source. New legislation may weaken Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards, reducing demand for Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) credits that Rivian sells to traditional automakers. In 2024, Rivian reportedly generated $325 million from ZEV credit sales.
Year-to-date, Rivian shares remain down about 4%, trailing the Nasdaq Composite's 8% gain. The stock showed strength Tuesday as investors responded positively to the company's ongoing efforts to expand its footprint and enhance product offerings, even amid regulatory and market headwinds.

<li>There are the important tells from the chart: 
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>The VUD indicator, the most sensitive measure of supply and demand in real time, did not turn orange even when the stock market was rapidly dropping.&nbsp; Orange indicates a net supply of stocks, and green indicates a net demand for stocks.</li>
<li>For the rest of the day, the VUD indicator stayed mostly green, indicating net demand for stocks.</li>
<li>The price action on the chart shows that subsequent to President Trump's denial, the market went higher compared to where it was when the news broke of President Trump's draft letter firing Fed Chair Powell.</li>
<li>The sum total of the foregoing is that overall, the prospect of Fed Chair Powell being fired and the Fed losing its independence did not concern the stock market.</li>
<li>If it was not for the extreme bullishness in the stock market right now and dominance of the momo crowd, the stock market would have continued to go down even after President Trump's denial.&nbsp; The reason is rather simple – in all developed countries, central banks are independent; only in the third world countries do presidents fire central bank chiefs and have central banks do presidents&#8217; bidding.&nbsp; Prudent investors should note a Fed Chair has never been fired in U.S. history.</li>

<li>In our analysis, here are the reasons behind the stock market's response: 
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>The momo crowd aggressively bought the dip.&nbsp; The momo crowd does not do deep analysis and does not understand the implications.&nbsp; The momo crowd simply has stars in their eyes and buys every time the stock market dips.</li>
<li>Smart money is split.&nbsp; Smart money recognizes President Trump firing Fed Chair Powell will be a big negative in the long term but in the short term a new Trump appointee will significantly lower interest rates and drive the stock market higher.</li>
<li>In our analysis, in the past, Fed Chair Powell enjoyed great support from both Republicans and Democrats.  However, now Powell is losing support from both Democrats and Republicans.  The reason is that Washington has now become a totally polarized place.  Powell tries to stay politically neutral although President Trump accuses him of being political and previously helping out President Biden.  In Washington, there is no place for a person who is trying to do a good job without being influenced by politics.</li>
<li>In our analysis, as damaging as it would be for the U.S. Federal Reserve to become similar to the central banks in third world countries, there is merit to President Trump's idea of a golden age.  As AI becomes more pervasive, the economy will become more efficient and as such lower interest rates may be in order.</li>

<li>TSM manufactures advanced AI chips for NVIDIA Corp (NVDA) and Advanced Micro Devices Inc (AMD).  TSM also manufactures chips for Apple Inc (AAPL) iPhones.</li>

<li>Initial jobless claims came at 221K vs. 230K consensus.&nbsp; This indicates that the jobs picture remains strong, at least for the time being.</li>
<li>Among important earnings, Netflix Inc (NFLX) and Interactive Brokers Group, Inc. (IBKR) will report earnings after the close.</li>
</ul>
<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Magnificent Seven Money Flows</h4>
In the early trade, money flows are positive in  Apple (AAPL), Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN), Meta Platforms Inc (META), Nvidia (NVDA), Microsoft Corp (MSFT), and Tesla (TSLA).
In the early trade, money flows are negative in Alphabet Inc Class C (GOOG).
In the early trade, money flows are positive in S&amp;P 500 ETF (SPY) and Invesco QQQ Trust Series 1 (QQQ).
<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Momo Crowd And Smart Money In Stocks</h4>
Investors can gain an edge by knowing money flows in SPY and QQQ.  Investors can get a bigger edge by knowing when smart money is buying stocks, gold, and oil.  The most popular ETF for gold is SPDR Gold Trust (GLD).  The most popular ETF for silver is iShares Silver Trust (SLV).  The most popular ETF for oil is United States Oil ETF (USO).

It is important for investors to look ahead and not in the rearview mirror.  Our proprietary Protection Band puts all of the data, all of the indicators, all of the news, all of the crosscurrents, all of the models, and all of the analysis in an analytical framework that is easily actionable by investors.
Consider continuing to hold good, very long term, existing positions. Based on individual risk preference, consider a protection band consisting of cash or Treasury bills or short-term tactical trades as well as short to medium term hedges and short term hedges. This is a good way to protect yourself and participate in the upside at the same time.
You can determine your protection bands by adding cash to hedges.&nbsp; The high band of the protection is appropriate for those who are older or conservative. It is worth reminding that you cannot take advantage of new upcoming opportunities if you are not holding enough cash.&nbsp; When adjusting hedge levels, consider adjusting partial stop quantities for stock positions (non ETF); consider using wider stops on remaining quantities and also allowing more room for high beta stocks.&nbsp; High beta stocks are the ones that move more than the market.
<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Traditional 60/40 Portfolio</h4>
Probability based risk reward adjusted for inflation does not favor long duration strategic bond allocation at this time.
