Jim Cramer Likes Reddit Very Much, Calls Accenture A 'Great Buy'

Helen of Troy Limited (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/hele#NASDAQ">HELE</a>) posted second-quarter fiscal 2025 results, wherein both the top and bottom lines declined year over year. However, both metrics beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate.
During the quarter, management advanced its long-term strategies by strengthening the core business and reshaping the growth portfolio. Despite ongoing macroeconomic challenges, the company achieved early success with its &#39;Reset and Revitalize&#39; initiative, driven by stronger brand fundamentals, refined marketing and innovation efforts and expanded distribution.
<h2>HELE&#39;s Q2 in Detail</h2>
Adjusted earnings of $1.21 per share surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.08, delivering a positive surprise of around 12%. However, the bottom line declined 30.5% year over year due to reduced adjusted operating income and higher tax rates. These were somewhat countered by lower interest expenses and shares outstanding.

Consolidated net sales of $474.2 million came ahead of the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $457 million. However, the metric fell 3.5% from the year-ago quarter&#39;s tally. This downtick was caused by reduced sales of hair appliances, humidifiers and air purifiers in the Beauty &amp; Wellness unit. This was partly compensated by growth in the home and insulated beverageware categories in the Home &amp; Outdoor segment. The decline in net sales was also partly mitigated by international expansion and increased sales of fans and thermometers within the Beauty &amp; Wellness category.
The consolidated gross profit margin contracted 110 basis points (bps) to 45.6% due to less favorable product and customer mixes within the Home &amp; Outdoor unit, partly made up by reduced commodity and product costs resulting from Project Pegasus initiatives.
The consolidated SG&amp;A ratio increased 140 basis points (bps) to 37.9%. The rise in such costs was due to increased spending on marketing, partly offset by reduced personnel costs.
The adjusted operating income declined 25.5% to $46.4 million, with the adjusted operating margin contracting 290 bps to 9.8%. Our model suggested an adjusted operating margin contraction of 360 bps.

<h2>HELE&#39;s Segmental Performance</h2>
Net sales in the Home &amp; Outdoor segment rose 0.8% to $241.9 million, fueled by greater insulated beverageware category sales and international sales. These were countered by weaker consumer demand, reduced replenishment orders from retail customers, and continued sluggishness in technical packs and related accessories.
Net sales in the Beauty &amp; Wellness segment declined 7.7% to $232.3 million. The decline was mainly caused by reduced sales of hair appliances stemming from softer consumer demand, changes in consumer spending habits and increased competition. Lower sales of humidifiers and air purifiers were due to lower orders from retail customers. There was also a decrease in water filtration product revenues due to the expiration of a licensing agreement. Nevertheless, these challenges were partly balanced by an increase in fan and thermometer sales. We expected Beauty &amp; Wellness net sales to decline 6.8% in the second quarter.
<h2>Other Details</h2>
Helen of Troy ended the quarter with cash and cash equivalents of $20.1 million and total short and long-term debt of $713.2 million. Net cash provided by operating activities for the first six months of fiscal 2025 was $69.9 million.&nbsp; The free cash flow for the same period was $55.9 million.
<h2>What to Expect From HELE in FY25?</h2>
For fiscal 2025, HELE anticipates consolidated net sales revenues to range between $1.885 billion and $1.935 billion, indicating a decline of 6% to 3.5% year over year. This sales outlook reflects ongoing concerns about persistent inflation and continued softness in consumer spending, particularly in certain discretionary product categories. The forecast also considers anticipated challenges in operational performance at the Tennessee distribution facility, along with heightened macroeconomic uncertainty. Management also anticipates a more competitive promotional environment and increased vigilance from retailers in managing their inventory levels.
In the Home &amp; Outdoor segment, net sales growth is now expected to range between a 2.3% decline and 1.4% growth compared to the earlier view of a 3-1% decline. The revised guidance includes shipping disruption impacts in the company&#39;s Tennessee distribution facility.
For the Beauty &amp; Wellness segment, net sales are projected to decline 9-7.5% now compared with an 8-5% decline expected before.
The company still envisions fiscal 2025 adjusted EPS to range from $7.00 to $7.50, indicating a decline of 15.8% to 21.4%. It expects adjusted EBITDA in the range of $287-$297 million, suggesting a fall of 11.8-14.6%. GAAP EPS is still expected between $4.69 and $5.45 in fiscal 2025.
The free cash flow is expected in the band of $180-$200 million now, down from the earlier view of $220-$240 million.
For the third quarter of fiscal 2025, the company expects sales to decline 1-4.5%. Management anticipates adjusted EPS to decline by 3-10% in the fiscal third quarter.

McCormick exited the quarter with cash and cash equivalents of $200.8 million, long-term debt of $3,343.1 million and total shareholders&#39; equity of $5,451 million. In the nine months ended Aug. 31, 2024, net cash provided by operating activities was $463.2 million.

The unequivocal belief is the gains could continue into the fourth quarter and beyond only if the economy can skirt a recession.
Each incoming economic data, including the job opening and manufacturing activity data due Tuesday, would offer evidence regarding the economy&#8217;s strength or lack thereof. This being the presidential election year, traders brace for more volatility at least until Nov. 5. The market may also have to contend with earnings as they begin to roll out in the second half of the month.

Wall Street experienced a subdued trading day on Thursday, as traders likely chose to remain on the sidelines in anticipation of Friday&#8217;s release of the Federal <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/24/06/39513292/feds-preferred-inflation-gauge-set-to-drop-to-38-month-low-this-could-provide-the">Reserve&#8217;s preferred inflation gauge.</a>
In regulatory news, U.S. banks successfully passed the Federal Reserve&#8217;s 2024 stress tests. The results demonstrated that all analyzed institutions could maintain minimum capital requirements even in the face of a severe economic shock. Notably, regional banks, as tracked by the SPDR S&amp;P Regional Banking ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KRE#NYSE">KRE</a>), performed relatively better overall compared to their larger counterparts. 
As of midday trading in New York, major indices showed marginal gains, with small caps outperforming large-cap indices. 
The semiconductor sector continued to face headwinds, with the iShares Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SOXX#NASDAQ">SOXX</a>) down 0.7%, eyeing its fifth negative session in the last six. Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) declined almost 2%.
Treasury yields moved lower, reflecting increased demand for bonds ahead of the key inflation report. The yield on the 10-year Treasury bond fell by 4 basis points to 4.29%, following an 8 basis-point increase on Wednesday. The iShares 20+ Year Treasury ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TLT#NASDAQ">TLT</a>) rose 0.5%.
In the commodities market, lower yields and a slightly weaker dollar spurred rebounds. Gold, tracked by the SPDR Gold Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLD#NYSE">GLD</a>), gained 1.2%, erasing Wednesday&#8217;s losses, while crude inched 0.7% higher. 
Cryptocurrencies also saw gains, with Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) up 1.3% and Solana (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/sol/usd">SOL</a>) surging over 8% following VanEck&#8217;s filing for <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/06/39528468/vaneck-files-solana-etf-application-sol-rallies-6">a Solana ETF application.</a>

Stocks Show Modest Gains Ahead Of Fed's Inflation Report; Chipmakers Struggle, While Gold And Bitcoin Rebound: What's Driving Markets Thursday?

Shares of McCormick &amp; Co Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MKC#NYSE">MKC</a>) are trading higher after the company reported better-than-expected second-quarter FY24 earnings.
The company reported a second-quarter FY24 sales decline of 1% year-on-year to $1.643 billion, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/06/n39520091/mccormick-reports-second-quarter-performance-reaffirms-2024-outlook-and-announces-2024-investor-da" rel="noreferrer noopener">beating the analyst consensus estimate of $1.637 billion.</a>
Flavor Solutions segment sales declined by 1%, reflecting a&nbsp;1%&nbsp;increase from pricing offset by a&nbsp;2%&nbsp;decline in volume and product mix as well as the strategic decision to divest its canning business.
Consumer segment sales decreased&nbsp;1%, with minimal currency impact, reflecting a&nbsp;1%&nbsp;decrease from pricing partially offset by modest volume growth.
Gross profit was $619.6 million, with the margin expanding 60 basis points Y/Y to 37.7%.
Adjusted operating margin expanded 20 basis points to 14.2%. Adjusted EPS of $0.69 <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings" rel="noreferrer noopener">beat the consensus estimate of $0.59</a>.
McCormick held $166.3 million in cash and equivalents as of May-end. The company generated an operating cash flow of $302 million in the quarter.
&#8220;The investments we made in our Consumer segment drove substantial sequential volume improvement in the second quarter, leading to volume growth, and we expect continued momentum for the second half of the year,&#8221; said President and CEO Brendan M. Foley.
Outlook Reaffirmed: McCormick sees FY24 sales growth of (2)% &#8211; 0%. The company expects an adjusted EPS of $2.80 &#8211; $2.85 versus an estimate of $2.87.
The company plans to host its Investor Day on&nbsp;October 22, 2024,&nbsp;in&nbsp;Hunt Valley, Maryland, and discuss its long-term strategy and financial&nbsp;outlook.
Price Action: MKC shares are trading higher by 3.81% at $70.25 in premarket at last check Thursday.
