DocuSign To Replace MDU Resources In S&P MidCap 400, Effective Prior To Opening Of Trading On October 11

MDU Resources Group, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MDU#NYSE">MDU</a>) announced today that its board of directors has approved the previously announced spinoff of the company's wholly owned construction services subsidiary, Everus Construction Group, through a pro rata distribution of all the outstanding shares of Everus common stock.
Everus common stock is expected to be distributed at 11:59 p.m. EDT Oct. 31, 2024, to MDU Resources stockholders of record as of 5 p.m. EDT on Oct. 21, 2024, the record date for the distribution. The distribution is subject to the satisfaction or waiver of certain conditions, including the Securities and Exchange Commission declaring the Registration Statement on Form 10 for Everus to be effective.

BofA Securities analyst Ross Fowler reinstated coverage on four US utilities in the Great Plains.
The analyst reinstated the Buy rating at Evergy, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/EVRG#NASDAQ">EVRG</a>) and MDU Resources Group, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MDU#NYSE">MDU</a>).
Meanwhile, Fowler reinstated the Neutral rating on OGE Energy Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/OGE#NYSE">OGE</a>) and Underperform rating on Black Hills Corporation (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BKH#NYSE">BKH</a>).
EVRG: The analyst reinstated Buy rating with a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/evrg/analyst-ratings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">price target at $66</a>. The analyst says that despite trading at a 10% discount compared to peers on a 2026E P/E basis, the improving Kansas regulatory environment, which supports higher rate base growth, appears undervalued.
The analyst estimates FY24, FY25 and FY26E EPS at $3.86, $4.09 and $4.30, respectively, all above consensus.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Fowler writes that consensus EPS estimates for FY26 and FY27 remain largely unchanged despite the benefits from House Bill 2527.
MDU: The analyst reinstated Buy rating with a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/mdu/analyst-ratings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">price target of $28</a>. Fowler believes the current 15% discount to the electric utility peer group is unjustified, considering MDU&#8217;s ongoing transition to a pure-play regulated utility and pipeline operator, along with its projected 6-8% EPS growth rate through the planning period.
Although the company&#8217;s multi-jurisdictional presence may lead to some delays in recovery, the analyst expects sustained support for earned ROEs at the electric utility, driven by a strong pipeline of data center customer connections in areas experiencing transmission congestion.

OGE: The analyst <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/oge/analyst-ratings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">reinstated Neutral rating with a $40 price target</a>. While the analyst values OGE&#8217;s execution and growth potential from data center and crypto-mining load, the challenging regulatory environment in Oklahoma and significant capital investments needed for resource adequacy present risks.
Fowler expects EPS estimates of $2.14, $2.28, and $2.43 for FY24, FY25, and FY26, respectively, in line with consensus estimates.
BKH: The analyst <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/bkh/analyst-ratings">reinstated Underperform rating with a $59 price target</a>. The analyst says that BKH&#8217;s electric utility operations are poised for growth with rising residential, commercial, and data center load, which currently contributes 5% to EPS and is expected to exceed 10% by 2028.
Fowler expects rate base expansion opportunities in South Dakota and Colorado to support a 7%+ CAGR. However, $1.6 billion in debt maturities from 2023 to 2028, with a 3.03% average interest rate, could create a ~$0.50 EPS headwind, exacerbating risks given BKH&#8217;s already low 4-6% target EPS CAGR, adds the analyst.
Fowler anticipates EPS estimates of $3.88, $4.13, and $4.35 for FY24, FY25, and FY26, below the consensus estimates of $3.92, $4.14, and $4.40, respectively.

Evergy, MDU Set For Growth But Black Hills Faces EPS Headwinds, Says BofA Analyst

Fund manager Matthew Tuttle made waves in the ETF space for his unique funds that offer ways for investors to get leveraged exposure or <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/01/36500461/exclusive-the-man-who-shorts-cathie-wood-and-jim-cramer-filed-for-new-bitcoin-etfs-why-lev">bet against well-known financial figures</a> like Jim Cramer and Cathie Wood.
Tuttle is back with a new fund that gives investors a way to invest in companies that are not meeting ESG (environmental, social, and governance) requirements.
What Happened: Tuttle Capital Management launched the ETF Opportunities Trust Tuttle Capital Shareholders First Index ETF (BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ESGX#BATS">ESGX</a>), a new ETF that gives investors<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/esg/23/09/34288808/want-to-bet-against-woke-companies-theres-an-etf-for-that"> a way to invest </a>in companies that "focus on profits, not politics or trendy activisms of the moment."
"ESGX allows investors to choose a portfolio of companies that follow the comment sense notion that companies that focus on profits are better for investors than companies that don't," a press release for the fund reads.
The ETF follows the AJN Shareholders First Index, which tracks a portfolio of U.S. companies that meet the requirement of focusing on profits and ignoring politics and "trendy activisms of the moment."
"Too many companies today put ESG and DEI politics first and their shareholders' profits last," Tuttle Capital CEO Matthew Tuttle said. "ESG has become a way for liberal executives and large investors to enact social changes that they can't pass at the ballot box."
Tuttle said CEOs can be pressured to "cave to the trendy politics of the moment," and often times this is not in the best interest of shareholders.
"That's why we launched ESGX – to put shareholders and profits first."
Tuttle added that investors had limited options of ways to invest in companies that put profits ahead of politics before the ETF launched.

Self Defense ETF Also Launches: Tuttle Capital also launched the Spinnaker ETF Series Tuttle Capital Self Defense Index ETF (BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GUNZ#BATS">GUNZ</a>) Tuesday.
The fund invests in companies that are engaged in self-defense, with a belief that the United States is becoming less safe.
The ETF invests in companies that manufacture, service, supply and distribute personal and law enforcement defense equipment and protection services. The fund tracks the AJN Self Defense U.S. Equity Index.
"Americans feel less safe and feel there is more crime in the country now than last year. Many Americans are taking self defense into their own hands," Tuttle said.
Tuttle added that shares of gun manufacturers have also risen after the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
"Gun sales have rebounded after nearly three years of continuous decline and firearms manufacturers world wide have seen their stock surge after the terrorist attack on Israel and the Trump assassination attempt."
