Halliburton Company (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HAL#NYSE">HAL</a>) reported worse-than-expected third-quarter EPS and sales.
HAL reported a third-quarter revenue decline of 1.8% year-over-year to $5.697 billion, missing the consensus of $5.828 billion. Adjusted EPS was 73 cents, down from 79 cents a year ago and below the consensus of 75 cents.

<li>CommScope Holding Company, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/COMM#NASDAQ">COMM</a>) was down, falling 24% to $5.30 after the company reported worse-than-expected third-quarter financial results.</li>

European shares were higher today. The eurozone's STOXX 600 gained 0.94%, Germany's DAX gained 2.07% and France's CAC 40 rose 1.07%. Spain's IBEX 35 Index rose 1.01%, while London's FTSE 100 rose 0.04%.
The Bank of England cut its Bank Rate by 25bps to 4.75% at its recent meeting. Retail sales in the Eurozone rose 0.5% month-over-month in September versus a revised 1.1% gain in August. The HCOB Eurozone construction PMI climbed to 43.0 in October from 42.1 in the previous month.
The S&amp;P Global France construction PMI climbed to 42.2 in October from 37.9 in the prior month, while German construction PMI declined to 40.2 in October from 41.7 in the previous month.
Asia Pacific Markets
Asian markets closed mixed on Thursday, with Japan's Nikkei 225 falling 0.25%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gaining 2.02%, China's Shanghai Composite Index gaining 2.57% and India's BSE Sensex falling 1.04%.
China&#8217;s trade surplus widened to $95.27 billion in October from $56.13 billion in the year-ago period. Foreign exchange reserves in Singapore increased to SGD 507.6 billion in October from SGD 499.7 billion in the prior month.

<li>U.S. initial jobless claims rose by 3,000 from the previous week to 221,000 in the final week of October, in-line with market expectations.</li>
<li>U.S. nonfarm business sector labor productivity increased by 2.2% in the third quarter compared to a revised 2.1% gain in the prior three-month period.</li>
<li>Unit labor costs in the nonfarm business sector rose an annualized 1.9% during the third quarter compared to a revised 2.4% increase in the earlier period.</li>
<li>U.S. wholesale inventories fell by 0.2% month-over-month to $903.7 billion in September versus the preliminary reading of a 0.1% decline and compared to a 0.2% gain in the prior month.</li>
<li>U.S. natural-gas stocks rose by 69 billion cubic feet to 3.932 trillion cubic feet in the week ended Nov. 1.</li>

Gold Gains 1%; Halliburton Posts Weak Q3 Results

Halliburton Company (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HAL#NYSE">HAL</a>) shares are trading lower after the company reported <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/11/b41801890/halliburton-announces-third-quarter-2024-results" rel="noreferrer noopener">third-quarter results below the street expectations.</a>
HAL reported a third-quarter revenue decline of 1.8% year-over-year to $5.697 billion, missing the consensus of $5.828 billion.
Completion and Production revenue was $3.299 billion, down 5% YoY, and the operating income declined to $669 million, reflecting reduced U.S. pressure pumping and lower tool sales in North America and Europe, partially offset by gains in the Middle East.
Drilling and Evaluation revenue rose 3.5% YoY to $2.398 billion, with operating income at $406 million, supported by higher Latin American drilling, global software sales, and increased Middle East wireline activity, offset by declines in Europe, North America, and Latin America testing.
HAL&#8217;s North America revenue declined 8.5% YoY to $2.386 billion, impacted by reduced U.S. pressure pumping and Gulf hurricane disruptions, partially offset by higher U.S. artificial lift and Canadian/Gulf stimulation activity. International revenue was $3.3 billion, flat sequentially.
Operating income stood at $871 million (-16% YoY), with an operating margin of about 15.3%, down 258 bps YoY. Adjusted operating margin was 17.3%, down 54 bps.
Adjusted EPS was $0.73, down from $0.79 a year ago and <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings" rel="noreferrer noopener">below the consensus of $0.75.</a>
The company repurchased ~$200 million of its common stock during the quarter. Operating cash flow was $2.41 billion for the nine months ended September, and free cash flow was $1.542 billion. For the quarter, operating cash flow was $841 million, and FCF was $543 million.
&#8220;We experienced a $0.02 per share impact to our adjusted earnings from lost or delayed revenue due to the August cybersecurity event and storms in the Gulf of Mexico. Our full year expectations for free cash flow and cash return to shareholders remain unchanged, and we <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance">expect both to accelerate in the fourth quarter</a>,&#8221; commented Jeff Miller, Chairman, President and CEO.
&#8220;I see solid opportunities across business lines and geographies for Halliburton. As we execute on our strategy, we will target opportunities to deliver unique value, allocate capital to the highest return opportunities, and prioritize free cash flow generation and shareholder returns,&#8221; added Miller.
Price Action: HAL shares are down 4.44% at $29.15 at the last check Thursday.
