Nucor Corporation (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NUE#NYSE">NUE</a>) shares are trading higher Wednesday after the company issued earnings guidance for the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/06/n45992383/nucor-announces-guidance-for-the-second-quarter-of-2025-earnings">second quarter of 2025</a>.
What To Know: The steelmaker said on Wednesday that it expects earnings to come in between $2.55 and $2.65 per share for the quarter ending July 5. That forecast is up sharply from the 67 cents per share it reported in the first quarter of 2025 and just below earnings of $2.68 per share reported in the same quarter last year.
The expected increase in earnings spans all three of Nucor's business segments. The biggest gains are projected in the steel mills segment, where average selling prices are up at sheet and plate mills. Steel products are expected to improve on higher volumes and lower costs, and raw materials earnings are also expected to rise.
Nucor noted that it has repurchased about 1.8 million shares during the second quarter at an average price of $111.89. The company said it has now returned approximately $755 million to shareholders through buybacks and dividends so far in 2025.
Nucor plans to release its full second-quarter results after the market closes on July 28, which will be accompanied by a conference call the next morning.

Nucor Stock Rises After Steelmaker Issues Q2 Guidance

Darden Restaurants Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DRI#NYSE">DRI</a>) shares are trading <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/DRI/analyst-ratings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">slightly lower on Wednesday.</a>
The company will release its&nbsp;fourth-quarter financial results before the market opens on&nbsp;Friday, June 20.

Truist card data indicates Olive Garden&#8217;s same-store sales rose 6.5% in the quarter, topping the 4.5% consensus and likely exceeding investor expectations.
The firm is likely to reaffirm its long-term goal of 10%–15% total shareholder return, with more focus on new store openings than margin expansion, Bartlett notes.
The analyst has raised its fourth quarter same-store sales (SSS) estimate to +4.5% and EPS forecast to $3.02, up from +3.7% and $2.93, both above the consensus of +3.6% and $2.96.
Bartlett projects restaurant-level margins at 22.8%, a 60bps year-over-year increase and ahead of the 22.7% consensus.
For FY26, the blended SSS forecast is raised to +3.8% and EPS to $11.05, from +3.5% and $10.92, respectively.
Olive Garden&#8217;s sales trends appear to be benefiting from delivery growth, aided by recent advertising.
A significant SSS beat is expected for Olive Garden in the fourth quarter, while LongHorn is likely to deliver results in line with expectations, both showing strong momentum heading into the first quarter of fiscal year 2026.
Oppenheimer: Bittner maintains a bullish view on Darden Restaurants heading into the June 20 results, citing continued earnings upside into fiscal year 2026 despite the stock&#8217;s year-to-date outperformance and its now-elevated 21x P/E multiple.
The analyst&#8217;s confidence is based on proprietary analysis of key sales drivers like Olive Garden delivery and a solid EBIT margin setup, and while he expects the initial fiscal year 2026 EPS guidance to be conservative, it should still frame consensus estimates around $10.77.
Bittner sees Olive Garden, which makes up ~43% of sales, as the biggest swing factor in Darden&#8217;s model, with delivery growth and stronger marketing likely to drive SSS above the Street&#8217;s +3.3% fiscal year 2026 estimate.
The analyst also considers the Street&#8217;s assumptions for LongHorn (+3.5%) and Fine Dining (+1.5%) as reasonable base cases given current trends.
DRI Price Action: Darden shares are trading lower by 0.93% to $222.62 at publication on Wednesday.

What To Know: The plan involves a prepackaged Chapter 11 filing that would allow Wolfspeed to quickly reduce its debt burden while continuing operations.
According to <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-06-18/wolfspeed-close-to-bankruptcy-deal-with-lenders-including-apollo">Bloomberg</a>, Wolfspeed would enter bankruptcy long enough to reduce debt. This structure, intended to minimize time in court and legal costs, would also provide a rare recovery for shareholders, who may retain up to 5% equity under the proposed deal. Most bankruptcies result in shareholders being wiped out entirely.
Wolfspeed has faced financial and operational struggles for years, particularly with production issues at its silicon carbide wafer facility, critical for supplying chips used in electric vehicles and industrial electronics. In May, the company disclosed it had hired restructuring advisers and warned that bankruptcy was one option on the table.
Wolfspeed and Apollo declined to comment on the report.

What's Going On With Wolfspeed Shares Today?

<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/etfs">Homebuilder ETFs</a> posted modest gains Wednesday after a slight uptick in housing starts, but the rally may prove short-lived. 
During Wednesday afternoon trading, both the iShares U.S. Home Construction ETF (BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ITB#BATS">ITB</a>) and the SPDR S&amp;P Homebuilders ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/XHB#NYSE">XHB</a>) gained over 1%. Markets are possibly applauding May&#8217;s 0.4% increase in single-family housing starts. However, a deeper look shows cracks forming:

<li><a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/housing-market">Building permits</a> fell 2.7%</li>
<li>Builder sentiment hit a 2.5-year low</li>
<li>And <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/money/mortgage-rates">mortgage rates</a> remain near 6.8%. </li>
</ul>
These warning signs suggest structural headwinds ahead, with ETFs potentially facing renewed pressure if <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/25/04/44885312/for-sale-but-no-takers-the-us-housing-markets-awkward-standoff">affordability doesn't improve</a> and new construction momentum stalls.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Homebuilder ETFs: Ride A Brief High?</h2>
Fewer building permits, a leading indicator of construction activity, and the lowest builder sentiment in two and a half years suggest a slowdown. 
While homebuilding starts indicate what&#8217;s currently being constructed, permits indicate what&#8217;s coming down the pike, and currently, what&#8217;s coming down the pike may be less.
ITB has heavy exposure to large U.S. homebuilders, including: D.R. Horton (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DHI#NYSE">DHI</a>), Lennar (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LEN#NYSE">LEN</a>), and PulteGroup (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PHM#NYSE">PHM</a>). This ETF is extremely sensitive to current housing trends, as it is still off about 8% year to date.
XHB, with a more diverse mix of housing stocks, ranging from builders to furnishing and materials suppliers, tracked the advances but still trails broader market indices.
Simply put: construction momentum is leveling off. A declining permit number generally translates into fewer future starts. And the ETFs have been losing steam quickly this year, with ITB down more than 13% and XHB down 9% this year so far.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Confidence Cracks And Cost Pressures</h2>
National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) says builder sentiment for June fell to its lowest level since late 2022, per Reuters. Close to 37% of builders said they had provided price discounts or buyer concessions, a sign of slowing demand. High mortgage rates, sitting at around 6.8%, are also stressing affordability and holding potential buyers at bay.
For ITB and XHB ETFs, that will happen at the expense of short-term pops being trumped by long-term structural headwinds, particularly if the Federal Reserve takes its time cutting rates and supply costs stay high.
Investors must be cautious. The three factors — falling permits, declining sentiment, and still-elevated borrowing costs —could make this 1% rally a head fake. 
Without a sustained fall in mortgage rates or an improvement in permitting, homebuilder ETFs will continue to be under pressure.

Lavoro Withdraws Previously Issued FY25 Financial Outlook, Citing Complexities Associated With EJ Plan

U.S. stocks were higher, with the Dow Jones index gaining around 150 points on Wednesday.
Shares of GMS Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GMS#NYSE">GMS</a>) rose sharply during Monday's session after the company reported <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/GMS/earnings">better-than-expected fourth-quarter financial results.</a>
Topping analyst estimates of $1.30 billion, the company announced quarterly net sales of $1.33 billion, a 5.6% decrease from a year ago. The specialty building products distributor's adjusted EPS of $1.29 was above the consensus of $1.11.
GMS shares climbed 9.9% to $80.51 on Wednesday.

<li>TMC the metals company Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TMC#NASDAQ">TMC</a>) gained 23.8% to $6.73.</li>
<li>Circle Internet Group (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CRCL#NYSE">CRCL</a>) jumped 20.2% to $179.24. The move higher appears directly linked to the U.S. Senate's passage of the GENIUS Act, a bill poised to establish clear regulations for the stablecoin industry.</li>
<li>Symbotic Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SYM#NASDAQ">SYM</a>) rose 19.5% to $37.22.</li>
<li>QXO, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QXO#NYSE">QXO</a>) climbed 16.4% to $23.45 after William Blair initiated coverage on the stock with an Outperform rating.</li>
<li>Oscar Health, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/OSCR#NYSE">OSCR</a>) gained 16.1% to $18.71.</li>
<li>Coinbase Global, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/COIN#NASDAQ">COIN</a>) climbed 16% to $294.92 after the company announced the launch of its Coinbase Payments stablecoin payments stack.</li>
<li>Genworth Financial, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GNW#NYSE">GNW</a>) gained 14% to $7.79 after Keefe, Bruyette &amp; Woods upgraded the stock from Market Perform to Outperform and raised its price target from $8.5 to $9.</li>
<li>Upstart Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UPST#NASDAQ">UPST</a>) rose 10.6% to $59.07.</li>
<li>Bausch Health Companies Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BHC#NYSE">BHC</a>) gained 8.4% to $6.21 after director John Paulson disclosed the purchase of stock.</li>
<li>Sandisk Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SNDK#NASDAQ">SNDK</a>) rose 6.6% to $47.03. B of A Securities analyst Wamsi Mohan initiated coverage on SanDisk with a Buy rating and announced a price target of $61.</li>
