Bank of America Securities (BofA) analysts conducted a grocery price study in Las Vegas, comparing April 2025 in-store <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">prices with those from a year earlier</a>.
They found average prices were up 2% year-over-year (and 23% higher than in 2019), with eggs driving much of the increase, excluding them, prices rose just 1%.
Year-over-year, price hikes were the largest at Kroger Company (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KR#NYSE">KR</a>) and smallest at Dollar Tree, Inc.&#8217;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DLTR#NASDAQ">DLTR</a>) Family Dollar and Amazon.com, Inc.&#8217;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>) Whole Foods Market.

Over six years, the biggest increases were seen at Sprouts Farmers Market, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SFM#NASDAQ">SFM</a>) and Dollar General Corporation (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DG#NYSE">DG</a>), and the smallest at Whole Foods Market and Walmart Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WMT#NYSE">WMT</a>).
Analysts compared year-over-year trends and price positioning relative to Walmart using like-for-like item baskets, finding Walmart maintained the lowest grocery prices across all retailers except Dollar Tree.
At Dollar Tree, $1.25 items were 16% cheaper than Walmart, while multiprice items, mainly frozen and refrigerated, were 2% more expensive.
This apart, BofA Securities analysts visited a Dollar General Market store with produce in Las Vegas and observed that produce prices were 16% higher than Walmart&#8217;s, up from a 14% gap last year.
Across Vegas retailers, they found average grocery prices had risen 2% year-over-year, or 1% excluding eggs, led by an 8% increase in dairy, while center store prices were slightly down by 1%.
Egg prices rose sharply (30%–70%) at nearly all retailers except SFM, where prices were flat, a trend similar to BofA&#8217;s Dallas study in February.
Compared to 2019, prices in Vegas were up 23% on average, with the biggest 6-year increases at Sprouts Farmers Market and Dollar General (both +32%), and the smallest at Whole Foods Market (+11%) and Walmart (+16%).

Magnitude 5.1 Earthquake Reported In Iran

Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller may have just handed <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/etfs">ETF investors </a>a mid-summer plot twist. 
In a Friday interview with CNBC, Waller said the U.S. central bank could start cutting interest rates as early as July, a stark pivot after six straight months of holding the line.
The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is set to meet on July 29–30, and while a rate cut is far from guaranteed, Waller's comments have given markets, and particularly rate-sensitive ETFs, fresh fuel for speculation.
"We could do this as early as July," said Waller, who noted that inflation and GDP are now hovering near the Fed's long-run targets. He also estimated that the current benchmark rate is about 1.25 to 1.5 percentage points above the "neutral" level.
That's Fed-speak for: we might have over-tightened, and it could be time to ease up.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">But Wait, The Fed's Still Divided</h2>
Despite <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/macro-economic-events/25/06/45714800/feds-christopher-waller-signals-caution-on-rate-cut-amid-tariff-driven-inflation-risks">Waller's optimism</a>, not everyone at the Fed is reaching for the rate-cut button. At the most recent policy meeting, seven Fed officials indicated they expect no cuts this year, according to Bloomberg. Others are sticking to the expectation of two cuts before year-end, a classic case of monetary policy déjà vu.
Then there's the geopolitical wildcard: Waller cautioned that any rate easing would come with caveats, especially if shocks, like Middle East escalations, reignite inflation.
That means inflation hedge ETFs like the iShares TIPS Bond ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TIP#NYSE">TIP</a>) or broad commodity funds like Invesco DB Commodity Index Tracking Fund (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DBC#NYSE">DBC</a>) may still be worth holding in a diversified strategy.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Trump Factor: A Political Sideshow?</h2>
President Donald Trump, who remains a vocal critic of the Fed, has been hammering the central bank to cut rates, suggesting it would help reduce ballooning interest costs on the government's debt. The Treasury has already shelled out $776 billion in interest payments over the past eight months, more than what the U.S. spent on defense.
But Waller didn't mince words: the Fed doesn't exist to make the government&#8217;s debt cheaper.
"Our mandate from Congress tells us to worry about unemployment and price stability," Waller said. "It does not tell us to provide cheap financing to the US government."
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bottom Line</h2>
Waller's comments suggest that the Fed is growing increasingly comfortable with the idea of normalizing rates, or at least dipping a toe into the water. For ETF investors, that opens the door to rebalancing toward sectors poised to benefit from falling rates, even as the inflation story continues to lurk in the background.

Fed Rate Cuts To Come 'As Early As July'? Dovish Turn Sparks ETF Rebound Hopes

Evolent Health shares are trading higher after the company reiterated its Q2 adjusted EBITDA and Fiscal Adjusted EBITDA.

BofA Securities analyst Andrew Obin <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/industrials-sector" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">hosted investor meetings</a> at the Paris Air Show with Honeywell International (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HON#NASDAQ">HON</a>), Eaton Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ETN#NYSE">ETN</a>), Parker-Hannifin Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PH#NYSE">PH</a>), Ametek Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AME#NYSE">AME</a>), and ITT Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ITT#NYSE">ITT</a>).
All the companies the analyst met with were bullish on increased defense momentum, particularly in Europe.
He said companies were broadly constructive on the cycle from both an original equipment ramp standpoint and sustained aftermarket momentum, with many citing a boost from retrofits, modifications, and upgrades (RMU).

Obin said that conversations focused on sources of outgrowth and margin expansion (on margin, particularly for Parker-Hannifin and Eaton).
According to the analyst, original equipment pricing is clearly a lever for certain companies, including Eaton and ITT.
Obin maintained Buy ratings on Honeywell, Parker-Hannifin, Eaton Corp, Ametek and ITT.
Honeywell: Obin noted that the industry outlook supports Honeywell&#8217;s medium-term target for mid-to-high single-digit aerospace industry growth. 
The analyst noted that the aftermarket is the key area to enable outgrowth relative to the market. The company is sticking with its framework on margins (e.g., long-term 29% aerospace margins) but being conservative near-term. Investors are prioritizing growth over margins, as per Obin.
Eaton Corp.: The analyst&#8217;s meeting with Eaton focused on the company&#8217;s margin expansion targets, accelerating military spending and sources of commercial outgrowth. 
Volume leverage and original equipment (OE) pricing are likely the key enablers to reach 27% aerospace margins by 2030E (versus 23% in 2024), Obin said. 
The company has expanded its aerospace portfolio from historical hydraulics and fuel systems with recent acquisitions, and the recent Ultra deal adds more complementary technologies and increases military exposure, he noted.
Parker-Hannifin: Obin noted after the meeting that Parker-Hannifin is confident in its margin trajectory into fiscal 2026 and beyond and that aerospace should continue to be a source of outperformance versus the market and peers. 
In the near term, macro seems stable without an inflection or deterioration in the industrial environment, as per the analyst. On the margin, he noted that the M&amp;A environment remains tight with challenging valuations.
Ametek: Obin noted that Ametek is very bullish on increased military spending in Europe and may add capacity in Eastern Europe in the long term (more brownfield than greenfield facilities). It has a relatively balanced portfolio between aftermarket and OE. 
The analyst said the defense part of the business has grown faster in recent years on a relative basis. By end market, he estimated roughly 60% of the company is defense, 10% business and general aviation, and air transport. Obin noted that Ametek is well-positioned to capitalize on increased defense budgets. He was impressed by the company&#8217;s flexible business model, which gives unit leaders control over their P&amp;Ls, as demonstrated in his meeting.
ITT: Obin noted OE is a larger portion of ITT&#8217;s business. The business is split between interior (e.g., hydraulics for seats) and control surfaces as the two main pieces, as per the analyst. He said the control surfaces are more comparable to Parker-Hannifin and Eaton&#8217;s businesses. 
Obin added that interior demand is driven by the refresh cycle, and control surface demand is driven by flight hours. He said the company is very bullish on military spending. 
On Commercial OE, ITT is slowly seeing Boeing orders return after a period of destocking and expects more regularity in the third or fourth quarter, the analyst said.
Obin said that the aero business is getting increased capital within ITT (e.g., the recent kSaria acquisition). The analyst noted that once the price increases roll through, this should yield a fairly immediate impact on Boeing&#8217;s business price or margins, which are $10 million per quarter. ITT expects price increases to be a large margin driver in the future for this segment, he said. Obin added that ITT continues to demonstrate the class&#8217;s best culture and operating system.
Price Actions: Honeywell stock was trading lower by 0.36% to $221.08, Eaton stock is down 0.87% at $331.95, Parker-Hannifin stock is down 0.17% at $651.15, Ametek was down 0.56% at $176.76, and ITT stock was down 0.36% at $150.12 on Friday at publication.

With the S&amp;P 500 Index meandering along at a 1.69% year-to-date return, you can't fault investors looking for some juice out of their portfolios at the mid-point of 2025.
One way to increase your portfolio&#8217;s profit potential is to look for undervalued stocks that aren't generating headlines or creating buzz on Reddit but are showing signs of popping in the second half of 2025.
Undervalued stocks are securities that trade below their assumed value.
That low price may be justified, as a low stock price doesn&#8217;t guarantee a future rebound if the underlying business doesn&#8217;t improve.
"Yet companies with strong net margins, low earnings multiples (relative to price), and clean balance sheets are more likely to be resilient and do well through downturns," said Dan Buckley, chief analyst at DayTrading.com
Buckley points to one underdog stock that made it big: Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMD#NASDAQ">AMD</a>).
"Look at Advanced Micro Devices, which for years was a distant second to Intel in the semiconductor industry," he said. "10 years ago, it commonly traded at around a market cap of only $3 billion, and now it's over $200 billion."
Buckley noted that AMD&#8217;s resurgence was driven by a strategic pivot under CEO Lisa Su. The company focused on high-performance computing and consistently delivered innovative, powerful chips that won significant market share.
"This turnaround shows how strong leadership and a clear, forward-looking strategy can transform an underperforming company into a market leader," Buckley said.

Brian Krawez, CFA and president of Scharf Investments, LLC, likes Centene (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CNC#NYSE">CNC</a>), a healthcare enterprise company.
"CNC is one of our favorite under-the-radar stocks," Krawez said. 
Centene is a health insurance managed care organization (MCO) focusing on the Medicaid, Medicare, and ACA Marketplace programs. Founded in 1984, Centene is the top player in Medicaid and Marketplace and now has 28 million members across the US.
"It collects premiums from the health plan sponsors and contracts with the providers to pay for care services that its members use," he noted.
Over the past 10 years, CNC has grown revenue by +26% CAGR and adjusted accordingly. EPS stands at plus-20% CAGR, driven by a steady Medicaid program expansion. "Recently, earnings growth has slowed due to post-COVID Medicaid redetermination and elevated member care utilization rates," Krawez added. "But as the states update the price reimbursement to reflect this increased member utilization level, we expect CNC to return to a more normalized margin."
Krawez believes that in the long haul, Medicaid will continue to grow at its historical rate of 5%-7 %, which would be good news for CNC shareholders. "It's the largest player in the space and should continue to leverage its scale and expertise in steering care to the most efficient place and grow earnings double-digits," he said. &#8220;In addition, management is a good capital allocator and has been aggressively buying back stock, signaling their confidence in the company's prospects."

Buckley's favorite underdog stock is the iconic fast-food chain, Wendy&#8217;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WEN#NASDAQ">WEN</a>).
"Wendy's has strong brand recognition, a quality P/E ratio (12x) in an otherwise relatively expensive market, and consistent dividend payments (around a 5% yield)," Buckley said. "Yet it's currently overshadowed by current market pressures."
Additionally, the company&#8217;s digital growth and international expansion represent "compelling long-term value" that the market might be underappreciating, he added. "Many consumers are also highly value-conscious, which can support Wendy&#8217;s growth as it competes on affordability." 
Pivoting to a more efficient digital operation should help Wendy&#8217;s, too.
"While the fast-food industry faces challenges with reduced foot traffic, Wendy&#8217;s focus on meal deals and growing its digital and delivery platforms caters directly to current consumer preferences for convenience and value," he added.

Chad Harmer, chief investment officer, founder, and financial planner at Harmer Wealth Management Corp. favors Eli Lilly (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LLY#NYSE">LLY</a>) as its underdog play in 2025.
"Major advancements in Eli's Obesity and Diabetes drugs like Mounjaro set the company up incredibly well for growth in the current market," Harmer said. "Moving forward, Eli is incredibly well-positioned to benefit from the aging population with Alzheimer&#8217;s therapies like Donanemab, bone health and osteoporosis treatments like Forteo, and an expanded pipeline in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, all conditions prevalent in older age groups."
Harmer says, like with all of the above stocks, investors have to tread cautiously when vetting underdog stocks.
"Watch out for the ‘Value Trap,&#8217;" he added. "Stocks that seem cheap or undervalued need to be carefully investigated to ensure business fundamentals, management, and growth projections remain strong."

3 'Underdog Stocks' For The Rest Of 2025

Couchbase shares are trading higher after the company announced it entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Haveli Investments. Also, multiple firms raised their respective price targets on the stock.

JP Morgan analyst Bill Peterson visited Lithium Americas Corp.&#8217;s (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LAC#NYSE">LAC</a>) Tech Center and Thacker Pass sites in Nevada earlier this week and met with <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/LAC/analyst-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">management and key project leaders</a>.
Peterson noted that construction is underway at the Tech Center and Thacker Pass sites, with mechanical completion targeted for late 2027 and full Phase 1 output expected within 6 to 12 months after that.
Monthly spending of $50 million–$70 million continues as Lithium Americas works through the loan process of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), which requires the company to use up its existing cash and funds from General Motors Company (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GM#NYSE">GM</a>) and Orion first, the analyst writes.

Parallel efforts are ongoing with the DOE, focusing on daily operations and getting ready for the first loan advance, still anticipated in the third quarter of 2025.
Bechtel and Sawtooth Mining workers were seen on-site continuing preparation work, and project team members noted a sharp uptick in activity since late last year.
Around 60% of detailed engineering is now complete, and concrete has been poured. Steel deliveries are expected in August, with installation set for late August or September, a key milestone.
The team remains focused on staying within budget and ramping Phase 1 while preserving flexibility for future phases. The Workforce Hub is also under construction and is expected to be ready for occupancy in the second half of 2025 to accommodate a worker increase from 300 to 1,000 by year-end.
Peterson added that access to power lines, highways, rail, and water through nearby towns helps reduce infrastructure costs and supports workforce retention.
He also viewed the planned locations for major facilities, including the sulfuric acid plant, carbonate plant, filtration, leaching and neutralization systems, and tailings area.
During the management meeting, the analyst noted discussions centered on lithium pricing and market trends, with the team expecting a supply deficit next year as weak prices delay new capacity.
Lithium Americas projects a temporary price peak of $40,000 per ton due to tightening supply, with a long-term price stabilizing around $20,000 per ton, enough to support future investments.
The offtake agreement with General Motors includes a floor price above current Chinese spot rates, ensuring profitability even after factoring in all-in costs like sustaining capex and debt repayments.
Management remains focused on executing Phase 1, while Phase 2 timing will depend on market conditions. For now, low-cost, low-risk steps are being taken to keep Phase 2 on track.
The General Motors partnership also offers flexibility to contract up to 12 years for Phase 2, supporting both financing and expansion efforts.
Price Action: LAC shares are trading lower by 3.02% to $2.57 at last check Friday.

On Friday, analyst Sami Corwin downgraded Sarepta from <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/SRPT/analyst-ratings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Outperform to Market Perform</a>.
Corwin said, &#8220;In addition, significant penetration of the non-ambulatory population was a key consideration of prior peak revenue estimates, and it is unlikely that penetration will be as robust in this subgroup in the future, in our opinion.&#8221;
Peak revenue estimates might decline further if other AAV gene therapies for Duchenne muscular dystrophy hit the market as soon as 2027. Notably, early clinical data suggests that some of these therapies — such as Solid Biosciences Inc&#8217;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SLDB#NASDAQ">SLDB</a>) SGT-003 — could have a safer profile, with fewer signs of liver-related side effects.
&#8220;While we continue to think that there will be strong interest among commercial ambulatory patients in Elevidys and that a higher share price is therefore justified based on our sum-of-the parts analysis, at this time, we think the reduction in peak revenue opportunity and growing number of uncertain variables will be a deterrent for investors,&#8221; William Blair wrote in the investor note on Friday.

This Could Be AMD's Biggest AI Win: MI400 Chips May Power Stargate

The European Central Bank (ECB) released its latest Economic Bulletin on Friday.
U.S.-based multinational companies (MNEs) play a significant role in the euro area economy. These companies either export directly from the U.S. or operate through their branches (affiliates) in the euro area.
The Bulletin <a href="https://www.ecb.europa.eu/press/economic-bulletin/html/eb202504.en.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">noted</a> that ongoing trade tensions — such as tariff increases or policy uncertainty — could impact their business.
These tensions might raise costs, disrupt internal company trade, or force changes in how companies handle taxes.

U.S. MNE affiliates in the euro area contribute more than 5% to the region&#8217;s total economic output, profits, and business spending and employ about 2% of the workforce; and the figures are higher in Ireland.
In early 2025, euro area exports rose sharply, largely due to companies rushing to ship goods before new U.S. tariffs took effect, the report highlights.
Exports outside the euro area grew by 4.9% in the first quarter, driven mainly by pharmaceutical products, especially from Ireland. Switzerland served as a key route, as did Germany, France and Italy.
The Wall Street Journal report emphasized Ireland&#8217;s pivotal role in transatlantic trade. Its appeal lies in a combination of skilled labor, familiarity with U.S. regulatory frameworks and favorable tax conditions. These factors have made it a hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing by U.S. firms, contributing heavily to the eurozone&#8217;s trade surplus.
While some last-minute exporting may continue, future export growth could slow due to rising tariffs, economic uncertainty, and the stronger euro.
On the import side, the stronger euro and shifts in trade caused by U.S.-China tensions are expected to lower prices.
Notably, over half of the modest 1.3% rise in imports was due to increased purchases from China.
The Wall Street Journal report <a href="https://www.wsj.com/economy/trade/almost-a-third-of-eurozones-u-s-trade-surplus-is-due-to-u-s-firms-says-ecb-319e3546" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">noted</a> that while such a move would shrink the eurozone economy, the central bank said the impact on jobs and income would likely be limited. These operations tend to be capital-intensive, generating high profits but relatively few jobs, and most profits flow back to the U.S.
Citing the ECB, the Wall Street Journal noted that in the long term, the eurozone could face reduced productivity if it loses the positive spillovers — such as technological and managerial know-how — that come from hosting foreign operations.

US Multinationals, Including Pharma Firms, Power Over 5% Of Eurozone Economy, ECB Says

Shares of AppLovin Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/APP#NASDAQ">APP</a>) are <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/movers/25/06/45940506/applovin-chewy-and-carvana-are-among-top-11-large-cap-losers-last-week-june-9-13-are-the-others-in-your-portfolio">down big Friday</a>. But they are close to a price level that may provide support and are oversold. This means they may be about to reverse and move higher.
We have made it our Stock of the Day because stocks at support that become oversold tend to rally.
The lower part of the chart is the Stochastics Indicator. It is a popular way to measure momentum.
If the blue line gets below the low horizontal red line, it indicates oversold conditions. As you can see, that's the case now. The last two times this happened were in March and April, and each time was a good buying opportunity.

Oversold means a stock has been pushed below its typical or usual trading range. When this happens, some traders will anticipate a reversion to the mean. This means a reversal and move higher.

These traders will come into the market as buyers. Their actions could put upward pressure on AppLovin.
The stock is also trading around a price that has been support. Sometimes a level that had been support can become so again because of regretful sellers.
They sold their shares at the support level, but when the price moved higher, they vowed to buy them back… if they could do so for the same prices they sold them for. So, when the stock returns to this level, their buying could create support again.
Sometimes support breaks and the trend lower continues. This is why many traders wait for a reversal to begin before they take a position.
They know they would not be buying at the lowest price, but they believe the odds will be in their favor if they wait for the reversal to start before getting in.
It is too soon to know whether AppLovin will reverse or break the support and continue lower.  But because of the oversold conditions, there is a chance that new buyers will come into the market and put a floor under the price.
They may even push it higher.
