In the same post, he shared a video in which he elaborated further. "Loyalty schemes and point systems. Worthless, worthless," he said. "The inflation in points from airlines is absurd. Just look at what you got 12 months ago for what you get now."

O'Leary claims that loyalty points, which many consumers accumulate in hopes of earning <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/money/best-airline-credit-cards">free flights or other rewards</a>, have lost significant value over time. "People think, oh, I&#8217;m going to amass loyalty points. I&#8217;m going to fly to Hawaii. You find out that two years ago, it was 30,000 points. Now it&#8217;s 170,000 points. There&#8217;s nothing you can do about it."
Instead of hoarding points, O'Leary's strategy is to cash them out as soon as possible, taking advantage of any opportunity to spend them before their value drops further. He suggests using them for goods and services wherever possible, like on Amazon (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>), to avoid being caught in the cycle of point inflation.
"I sign up for every single loyalty program, every single one, any retailer, and I blow them out the second I get them," he said. "If you&#8217;re a sharp consumer, you can save about two and a half percent of your entire costs every month by just playing the game right."

This approach contrasts with the more traditional strategy of trying to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/24/06/39190507/is-maximizing-credit-card-rewards-worth-it">maximize credit card rewards</a> over time, which can be effective but requires financial discipline, strong credit, and careful organization.&nbsp;
For those who enjoy chasing points, the effort can pay off, but it also comes with risks. If you're not careful, you can end up carrying balances, paying high interest, or even hurting your credit score if you open too many accounts too quickly.
O'Leary also points out that for people earning a high income, chasing points might not be the best use of their time. Even if you manage to earn a million points in a year, that's only about $10,000 in value, which isn&#8217;t worth the hassle for everyone.

O'Leary's approach is simple: collect points but never hold onto them for long, as he believes &#8220;the game is rigged&#8221; against those who try to save up for larger rewards. "The most important thing to do with any loyalty program is to spend the points immediately. The second you get them, do not hold on to them."
For those who appreciate convenience, this strategy cuts down on the time spent managing multiple accounts, remembering payment dates, and tracking changing redemption rates. It's a straightforward approach that prioritizes immediate returns over long-term gains.

Cuban, who's never had a problem speaking his mind or calling out fellow billionaires, <a href="https://bsky.app/profile/mcuban.bsky.social/post/3loejyk5ktc2y">took to BlueSky on May 4</a> and dropped this gem:
"Given that most, if not all MAGA merch is made in China, I'll be really curious to see what happens to their pricing and availability."
That comment quickly gained traction—not just because it's Cuban, but because it pointed out a hilarious bit of irony. One BlueSky user jumped into the comments with a side-by-side photo: a MAGA cap with a "Made in China" tag next to a Biden hat proudly stamped "Made in USA."&nbsp;

Sure, some U.S. companies manufacture campaign merch domestically, but much of what floods e-commerce sites still comes from China.
Trump campaign's official website,<a href="https://www.trumpstore.com/product/classic-maga-hat/"> TrumpStore.com</a>, continues to state that its MAGA hats are "Proudly Made in USA." Federal Election Commission filings confirm that the campaign has consistently paid U.S.-based companies for the production and distribution of its hats.

While official campaign merchandise is domestically produced, a significant portion of MAGA-themed merchandise sold through third-party vendors, especially on online marketplaces, is manufactured overseas, including in China.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Back in 2020, <a href="https://abcnews4.com/news/local/where-is-maga-merchandise-made">WJLA-TV</a> in Washington, D.C. interviewed Rocky Granada, a vendor who sold Trump merchandise at over 60 rallies.&nbsp;
He proudly declared, "I work every day for Donald Trump. I live, eat, and drink for Donald Trump." But when asked about where the merchandise was made, he admitted, "Well, most of it is made in China, but we do have some stuff that's made in America." Holding up a scarf, he pointed out it was recycled cotton—one of the few American-made items he carried. Even some rally-goers were aware that their MAGA gear wasn't exactly boosting U.S. manufacturing.
On the same day as his MAGA merch post, Cuban reshared a <a href="https://x.com/mcuban/status/1919101808208654381">video clip of Trump on X</a> brushing off a question about helping small businesses deal with tariffs.&nbsp;

In the clip, when asked, "Are you considering tariff relief for small businesses?" Trump replied, "Why do you always mention, you know, a couple of little businesses. What about the car business? They're going to make a fortune."
Cuban didn't let that slide. He added his own response to the post, writing, "Should <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/25/05/45229642/major-economic-disaster-amid-trump-tariffs-american-small-business-owners-face-closures-price-hikes-and-losses">small businesses be ignored</a>? Or are big industries all that matter?"
As tariffs spark fresh uncertainty—and Trump has already paused most tariffs for 90 days except for those on China—the question now isn't just about macroeconomics. It's about whether the very slogan that fueled Trump's rise might become a casualty of his own trade war.
