What Happened: These new financial instruments are <a href="https://ir.cboe.com/news/news-details/2024/Cboe-to-Launch-the-First-Cash-Settled-Options-Product-Related-to-Spot-Bitcoin-Beginning-Monday-December-2/default.aspx">scheduled</a> for launch on Dec. 2 and will be based on the Cboe Bitcoin U.S. ETF Index, which tracks a selection of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/spot-bitcoin-etf">spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs)</a> listed in the United States.

Cboe To Launch First Cash-Settled Spot Bitcoin Index Options On December 2, Expanding Investor Access To Crypto Derivatives

Solana (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/sol/usd">SOL</a>) is up 10% on the day and closing in on its all-time high as new Solana spot ETF filings indicate <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/08/40470226/solana-etf-approval-in-2024-has-only-a-6-chance-a-snowballs-chance-in-hell-etf-analyst-say">continued institutional interest.</a>
What Happened: Eleanor Terrett of Fox Business on Thursday tweeted that the SEC is reportedly engaging with issuers interested in launching a Solana spot ETF, with progress being made on S-1 applications, citing <a href="https://x.com/EleanorTerrett/status/1859611713579999366">sources</a> familiar with the matter.
Issuers like <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/07/39598039/vanecks-solana-etf-proposal-dependent-on-trumps-presidential-win-matthew-sigel-confirms">VanEck</a>, 21Shares and Canary Funds have already filed S-1s, while Bitwise recently announced its intent to do so. 
Exchanges like <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/07/39679535/solana-jumps-5-5-as-cboe-files-application-with-sec-to-list-vaneck-21shares-spot-etfs">Cboe Global Markets</a> (BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CBOE#BATS">CBOE</a>) are expected to submit 19b4 filings on behalf of these issuers soon, a key step in seeking SEC approval to list these ETFs.
Once filed, the SEC has 240 days to approve or deny the products. However, the filing of the 19b4's does not guarantee an approval by the SEC.
While prior 19b4 filings for similar products were <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/08/40454074/solana-a-security-sec-concerns-reportedly-led-to-pause-in-etf-filing-process">withdrawn</a>, industry optimism is growing due to increased SEC engagement and the potential for a more <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/11/42098407/donald-trump-reportedly-eyeing-the-first-crypto-focused-role-in-the-white-house">pro-crypto regulatory stance </a>under the incoming administration. 
A decision on a Solana ETF could come as early as 2025 and be made by the successor of current SEC Chair Gary Gensler, who <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/regulations/24/11/42120607/gary-gensler-to-step-down-as-sec-chair-on-trumps-inauguration-day">announced his resignation</a> effective January 20, 2025.

Bedell expects continued volatility in equity markets, especially following the U.S. elections, which will likely increase demand for index <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/24/11/41869001/heres-how-trumps-policies-might-shape-the-markets-future" rel="noreferrer noopener">and volatility options and futures</a>.
Additionally, the analyst anticipates organic growth driven by ongoing product innovation and rising adoption of options, particularly with the upcoming launch of index options on Robinhood.
Also, the analyst projects stronger revenue growth to lead to positive operating leverage next year, allowing management to exceed its expectations for operating margin stability, as discussed on the recent third-quarter earnings call.
Notably, this month, the company reported third-quarter adjusted EPS of $2.22, which surpassed the $2.19 estimate, and sales of $532.0 million, beating <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/11/n41680696/cboe-global-markets-reports-results-for-third-quarter-2024" rel="noreferrer noopener">the expected $530.8 million</a>.

Overall, the analyst revised the forecasts for the company, now projecting 8% revenue growth in 2025 and 6% growth in 2026, up from the previous estimates of 6% and 3%, respectively.
Despite robust growth in index product revenue of 55% and 35% in 2022 and 2023, the analyst anticipates index revenue will still grow by at least 10% in 2025, even with challenging comparisons and high volume levels.

Despite the weak job figures, the unemployment rate held steady at 4.1%, indicating companies chose to retain workers rather than downsize.
The ISM Manufacturing PMI signaled contraction for the seventh consecutive month in October, with the index missing estimates.
Oil prices experienced a volatile session, initially spiking on reports of an imminent retaliatory attack by Iran on Israel before pulling back as those concerns faded. Gold edged down 0.1%.
Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) dipped 0.3%, slipping below the $70,000 mark.

Options Growth Among Retail Investors 'Absolutely Tremendous': Cboe Global President

"At Robinhood, our customers tier toward the younger side," Quirk said in a Friday interview, noting an average customer age in the low 30s.
Similarities exist between legacy trading firms and Robinhood, he said, but there are many differences that influence the latter&#8217;s product development.
"The technology and products we roll out cater to our customers."
On Robinhood, around 50% of the self-directed trading occurs on mobile, which means most of the trading is done on phones, Quirk said. 
With the growth of retirement accounts and more sophisticated traders joining Robinhood, Quirk said the company saw demand for web-based apps and platforms alongside mobile, which went into the company's new trading platform.
"We are attracting a lot of large customers from other brokerages."
Quirk emphasized the amount of effort Robinhood puts into researching customers to make better tools and products and also the effort made in education to make people feel comfortable switching their accounts over to Robinhood.
"Education is critical."
The HOOD Summit has helped show Quirk stories of investors changing their lives through Robinhood tools and investment platforms, he said. 
"Those stories make you motivated to continue to deliver for the customers."

Platform For Everything: Robinhood recently announced a partnership with Cboe Global Markets (BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CBOE#BATS">CBOE</a>) that will bring futures trading to customers, which Quirk said is one of the platform&#8217;s most-requested features. 
"It's a natural," Quirk said.
The tax advantages of futures and the fact they operate around the clock are some of the reasons they are in demand from Robinhood customers, he said. 
With its offerings of stocks, options, futures and cryptocurrency, Quirk highlighted the uniqueness of the Robinhood platform during his interview with Benzinga's Zunaid Suleman at the HOOD Summit in Miami. 
"We're the only place in U.S. where you can do it all."
Robinhood offers the ability to make recurring investments in any asset, including cryptocurrency, Quirk said. Recurring investments are where Robinhood users set the dollar amount of an investment to be made automatically on their behalf. 
"The No. 1 traded and most reoccurred investment is Bitcoin," he said, highlighting the leading cryptocurrency Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>).
Bitcoin has been Robinhood&#8217;s top recurring asset for years and it shows the platform has customers who are very passionate about cryptocurrency, the chief brokerage officer said.

EXCLUSIVE: Robinhood's Steve Quirk Says New Offerings Like Crypto, Futures Bring In Customers, Bitcoin Is 'No. 1' Recurring Investment (CORRECTED)

CBOE (BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CBOE#BATS">CBOE</a>) CEO Fred Tomczyk shared his excitement for upcoming product from Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HOOD#NASDAQ">HOOD</a>) and put an emphasis <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/retail-investors">on retail investors</a> during an exclusive interview Thursday with Benzinga.
Robinhood Growth: Since taking over the role of CEO of Cboe in September 2023, Tomczyk said not a lot has surprised him other than the impressive growth of Robinhood, a company that <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/fintech/24/10/41371235/robinhood-announces-futures-trading-index-options-trading">announced several new products Wednesday.</a>
It was the demand for technology and access to data and the growth of the retail trader that surprised him the most about the markets over the last year since stepping from the Cboe Board of Directors to the CEO role.
Cboe is the parent company of the Chicago Board Options Exchange and BATS Global Markets. The company announced Wednesday that Robinhood customers will soon be able to trade Cboe&#8217;s index options on the S&amp;P 500, Cboe Volatility, Russell 2000 and Mini S&amp;P 500 indexes. 
The Cboe CEO said he was aware of Robinhood, but was surprised by its market growth.
"I never realized they were growing so fast," Tomczyk said to Benzinga&#8217;s Zunaid Suleman. "That was an eye opener for me."
Robinhood unveiled index options, futures and the Robinhood Legend platform at the 2024 HOOD Summit, where Tomczyk spoke to Benzinga.
With the new products, Tomczyk said Robinhood is "trying to take that place as the innovator and disruptor," comparing the broker to broker of old that dominated the space.
"They're really moving into the active trader space."

Cboe CEO On Risk, Volatility: The Cboe CEO acknowledged that trading companies go through ups and downs and the importance of having products and services to help investors trade through any environment.
It&#8217;s important to be focused on the long term and the secular growth trends during constant ups and downs, he said. 
While many non-investors or new investors may think of options as a risky trade, Tomczyk reiterated their purpose.
"The roots of options are in risk management, not speculative," Tomczyk said. "It's a risk mitigation tool."
For options beginners, Tomczyk said it's important to know the differences between them and key terminology and to take education offered by brokerages. Tomczyk suggested investors could try paper money trading in options to try out strategies first.
What's Next For The Markets? Asked for an outlook on what is coming for the markets over the next 12 months, Tomczyk couldn't help but point to the importance of the 2024 election, as presidential elections often bring high volatility.
"I think this one's no different," Tomczyk said. "This one's unpredictable."
Investors will likely trade based on the uncertainty of the election and the questions about the geopolitical environment, which is why the VIX (Cboe Volatility Index) is rising, he said. 
For CBOE, Tomczyk said the focus over the next 12 months is focusing on investments in technology, investments on the retail side of products, innovation on derivatives and providing data and solutions to traders.
