Israeli Strikes Kill 9 Iranian Scientists, Continuing Mossad's Decade-Long Targeting of Nuclear Program

Following <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/25/06/45911791/boeing-dreamliner-carrying-over-200-passengers-crashes-shortly-after-takeoff-near-indias-ahmedabad-b">Thursday's fatal plane crash</a> in the Indian city of Ahmedabad, when a Boeing Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BA#NYSE">BA</a>) 787 Dreamliner aircraft, operated by Air India with 242 passengers onboard, crashed moments after takeoff, the aircraft manufacturer's troubled past has once again come to the surface.
Multiple Incidents, Three Whistleblowers And Prosecution Avoided
Serious questions about the company's safety and quality practices have been raised in the past following incidents with the 787 Dreamliner's Lithium-ion batteries, as well as three separate whistleblowers coming out to express serious concerns about the aircraft's manufacturing.
Amid the challenges, the company recently<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/legal/25/05/45481977/boeing-may-reportedly-once-again-dodge-prosecution-over-737-max-crashes-victims-families-slam-dojs-potential-agreement-as-backroom-deal-dressed-up-as-a-legal-proceeding"> avoided prosecution </a>by agreeing to pay over $1.1 billion in a deal over two fatal air crashes in 2018 and 2019 that led to the deaths of over 346 people. The decision has angered the victims' families.&nbsp;
The non-prosecution agreement involves the aircraft company investing $455 million in compliance and safety programs, as well as compensating the victims' families with over $444.5 million.
The trial was originally set to begin on June 23, but Boeing struck a deal that involved pleading guilty to misleading the FAA. The company had previously also avoided prosecution in 2021 when it was deferred after Boeing paid over $2.5 billion.
Jeju Air disaster, Faulty Bathroom Latches
In two separate incidents, a Boeing 737-800 aircraft operated by South Korea's <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/24/12/42716905/boeing-in-spotlight-after-fatal-737-800-crash-in-south-korea-stock-declined-28-amid-deepening-2024-challenges">Jeju Air crashed</a>. The crash led to over 179 lives lost from the 181 passengers onboard the aircraft, while the Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ALK#NYSE">ALK</a>) <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/24/01/36523143/im-going-to-die-passengers-experience-15-minute-nightmare-during-alaska-airs-harrowing-emergency">Flight 1282 </a>experienced a sudden loss of cabin pressure, forcing an emergency landing, as well as resulting in over 65 737 MAX 9 aircraft being grounded.
However, the woes didn't stop there as the FAA also proposed an airworthiness report after a passenger was stuck in a lavatory of a Boeing aircraft mid-flight due to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/44811150/faulty-bathroom-latches-could-cost-boeing-34-million-following-faa-directive">a faulty bathroom latch</a>. The repairs could reportedly cost Boeing $3.4 million and affect thousands of aircraft in its fleet.
Despite such issues, the FAA has recently allowed Boeing to continue <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/travel/25/05/45692905/faa-extends-program-allowing-boeing-to-conduct-inspections-on-agencys-behalf">inspections and approve repairs</a> on the agency's behalf.
Space ambitions proving difficult to realize
In addition to being a key figure in the aircraft manufacturing sector, Boeing is also a major player in the space exploration industry. The company's flagship rocket, the Starliner, was touted to be Boeing's answer to Elon Musk's SpaceX. However, fast forward to today, the Starliner has had its share of issues.
A <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/space/25/06/45827130/nasa-delays-boeing-starliner-flight-to-2026-amid-ongoing-technical-challenges">failed test in 2024</a> left two astronauts stranded aboard the International Space Station for over 9 months and the vehicle is yet to be certified for human transport. Besides this, the company's progress in its development is slower than anticipated, much to the dismay of<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/25/06/45855902/why-jeff-bezos-might-emerge-as-the-biggest-winner-in-the-trump-musk-feud"> NASA and Pentagon officials</a>.
Aftermath Of The fatal Ahmedabad crash
Following the disaster, Boeing CEO Kelly Otberg said that "a Boeing team stands ready to support the investigation led by India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau."

While they earn $60,000 a year, their coworker, &#8220;John,&#8221; makes $115,000. The two work at a large tech company, and the disparity sparked a flood of advice and opinion on <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/Salary/comments/1l6vjfc/discovered_a_huge_pay_gap_what_now/">Reddit</a>.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Merger, A Staffing Agency And Two Very Different Paychecks</h2>
The original poster explained that they lead two teams—including one that the poster built from scratch—while John is just a member of one. They have been at the company for two years; John has been there for three. The key difference is that John came from a startup that was <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/tech/25/05/45602719/openais-acquisition-of-jony-ives-startup-poses-threat-to-apples-dominance">acquired by the tech giant</a>, keeping his original salary intact. The poster, on the other hand, was hired post-merger through a staffing agency.

&#8220;He was hired as part of a startup that was bought by this tech company,&#8221; OP wrote. &#8220;As such, his higher pay carried over after the merge. I was hired after the merge through a staffing agency.&#8221;
OP later updated the post to add: &#8220;I found out today that the company is trying very hard to find a reason to get rid of John, which is at least partially because he makes so much. Maybe our pay difference was for the best lol!&#8221;
This revelation added a surprising twist to the situation. While OP may be underpaid, John&#8217;s inflated salary appears to have made him a target. If they think someone is overpaid and replaceable, some start building a case to get rid of them.

&#8220;Apply to another job and get an offer. Use that offer to negotiate higher pay at your current job. Then—maybe—take the new job, it might be time to move in a new direction,&#8221; one commenter advised. Another added, &#8220;There is no maybe. Take the new job.&#8221;
Many echoed the same idea: internal raises tend to be small, and significant jumps usually <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/management/25/06/45793441/vincent-chan-reveals-the-top-financial-mistake-people-make-64-of-job-hoppers-say-switching-jobs-actually-leveled-up-their-career-faster">come by switching employers</a>.
Others cautioned that bringing up John&#8217;s name directly in negotiations would be a mistake. &#8220;Try to negotiate a raise and don&#8217;t bring John up in any way, shape or form,&#8221; someone warned. &#8220;You now know how high the ceiling is and they don&#8217;t know that you know. Use that to your advantage.&#8221;

Many highlighted how hiring timing and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/06/45851993/mr-wonderful-kevin-oleary-says-he-was-once-told-by-a-ceo-to-shut-up-and-that-leveled-up-his-negotiation-skills-fellow-shark-mark-cuban-also-fle">negotiation skills</a> play a bigger role than job performance. John kept a premium salary due to his previous startup role, while OP started at the lower end because of agency involvement and timing.
&#8220;60k in tech is low, and that has nothing to do with the &#8216;pay gap,&#8217; it&#8217;s just low, period,&#8221; one compensation expert wrote. &#8220;You should be looking and interviewing, and the same would be true if you didn&#8217;t have a better-paid colleague.&#8221;
Some speculated that John's days may be numbered. &#8220;If they had someone that they thought was capable of doing John&#8217;s job for $60k, they would fire John today and hire that person,&#8221; a person foreshadowed what could happen before the post was updated.
The overwhelming consensus is not to count on your company to fix pay discrepancies. Use market research, get external offers, and be willing to leave.

What Happened: According to <a href="https://www.mass.gov/doc/data-breach-report-2025/download">filings</a> with the Massachusetts state government, the banks disclosed data breaches that have put customers&#8217;&nbsp;accounts and personal information at&nbsp;risk. 
Chase revealed that&nbsp;at least four customers in&nbsp;the state were affected by multiple breaches.

The caller explained that her son planned to move back home for the summer while completing an internship. "No way. There's consequences to being a butt," Ramsey said. "He doesn&#8217;t get to live there rent-free if he doesn&#8217;t pay a bill because it&#8217;s your responsibility when it&#8217;s not."
The mom said her son believes the parents should cover the entire bill since he's still on their health plan. But Ramsey and his co-host Ken Coleman weren't having it.
"You&#8217;re not going to move in here until you pay that bill," Ramsey continued. "I&#8217;ll let you live here rent-free to get a good start, not for being an entitled brat."
Coleman got especially fired up when the mom mentioned that she was planning to play the clip of the call to her son. Talking directly to him, he said, "Dude, you need a reality check. You ought to be apologizing to your parents and groveling all over yourself in gratitude for all they&#8217;ve done for you," he said. "You went to a place that I told you not to. You&#8217;ve got a $700 problem. It&#8217;s not Mom and I&#8217;s problem."&nbsp;

"The real question at hand, Yvonne: how is title to this house held?" Orman asked.&nbsp;
She then explained that if the home is owned jointly with the right of survivorship and the mother passes away first, the father would automatically inherit the entire house — no matter what the mother's will or trust says.

As opposed to the past 20 years where it was just one tech giant,&#8221; Pearce said.
AheadComputing operates as a fabless semiconductor company, outsourcing chip fabrication to partners such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. This capital-efficient model allows the firm to focus resources on architectural innovation and design execution, The Oregonian reports.

Intel's long-standing position as Oregon's largest private employer is undergoing transition, with multiple senior engineers departing to build independent ventures. According to The Oregonian, AheadComputing represents one of the most ambitious spinouts, combining advanced design experience with startup agility.
Vice president of AheadComputing&#8217;s design verification Alon Mahl said the hands-on startup environment allows engineering leaders to accelerate timelines and make immediate decisions without layers of corporate oversight. The Oregonian says that the team is already seeking larger office space in Washington County to accommodate growth and additional equipment needs.

According to The Oregonian, AheadComputing joins a small group of Oregon-based chip startups led by Intel alumni, including Ampere Computing, which was recently acquired by SoftBank for $6.5 billion while retaining its Portland office footprint.
Portland State University professor Christof Teuscher, an expert in microprocessor architecture, said the startup is taking a high-risk, high-reward approach. While RISC-V has traditionally been used in academic and embedded contexts, The Oregonian says that Teuscher expressed skepticism about its ability to succeed in high-performance commercial environments.
According to The Oregonian, AheadComputing envisions its chips will eventually power PCs, laptops, and data centers, with possible clients including Google, Amazon (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>), and Samsung.

Chavez-DeRemer pointed out general improvements in the economy, saying, &#8220;We're certainly holding steady, and under the Trump administration, manufacturing jobs are still up over what the last administration, under Biden, had.&#8221; She emphasized ongoing efforts to expand the sector through construction and healthcare employment, alongside new manufacturing plants. Yet, she admitted, &#8220;It will take some time.&#8221;
Varney challenged Chavez-DeRemer repeatedly, pointing out the contradiction between the administration&#8217;s push to revive manufacturing and the actual job losses reported. Recent economic reports support this caution, highlighting the significant role manufacturing plays in the U.S. economy. As of late 2024, manufacturing contributed almost $3 trillion to the economy and supported millions of jobs directly and indirectly. Yet, despite these promising figures, the manufacturing sector continues to shed positions.

With automation and artificial intelligence rapidly <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/tech/25/05/45613320/ai-is-gutting-entry-level-jobs-and-gen-z-is-paying-the-price-warns-linkedins-aneesh-raman">transforming the job landscape</a>, Varney asked Chavez-DeRemer about predictions that AI could eliminate half of all entry-level white-collar jobs within five years. Chavez-DeRemer downplayed the threat, saying, &#8220;I believe that we're going to streamline and we're going to assist the American worker. Things are changing at a rapid pace, but AI is not going anywhere.&#8221;
She added that the administration is proactively training workers for this shift, dedicating 10% of apprenticeship grants to AI training.
For now, manufacturing in the U.S. faces significant headwinds, caught between political promises, economic pressures, and a rapidly evolving workforce landscape.

Israel&#8217;s airstrikes have caused considerable damage to Iran&#8217;s nuclear program. The full impact of these strikes is still being evaluated by experts. This situation poses a significant challenge for both the US and Israel as they deliberate on their next course of action.
What Happened: According to a report on Saturday, the airstrikes launched by Israel have resulted in significant damage to Iran&#8217;s nuclear facilities. However, experts are of the opinion that these strikes have not entirely wiped out the program. 
Rafael Mariano Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, revealed that while the surface facilities at Natanz, Iran&#8217;s primary nuclear-fuel site, were destroyed, the main underground halls where uranium enrichment occurs are still operational, <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-06-14/iran-s-nuclear-sites-hobbled-but-not-destroyed-experts-say?srnd=homepage-asia&amp;sref=TBDibEcD">reports</a> Bloomberg. 
In retaliation to the attacks, Iran targeted Israeli cities with hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones. The strikes also resulted in the death of nine top scientists who were instrumental to Iran&#8217;s nuclear aspirations. 
These developments have cast a shadow over the future of US-Iran talks that aim to limit Tehran&#8217;s nuclear activities in return for relief from sanctions.
