AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMC#NYSE">AMC</a>) stock is spinning its wheels on Thursday despite a strong move in shares of retail darling GameStop Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GME#NYSE">GME</a>). The two often trade in sympathy, but the retail crowd may have found shinier toys <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/holiday-sales">this holiday season</a>.
What To Know: Meme stock trader&nbsp;Keith Gill,&nbsp;also known as&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/roaring-kitty" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">&#8220;Roaring Kitty,&#8221;</a>&nbsp;posted an <a href="https://x.com/TheRoaringKitty/status/1871933930963693706">image</a> of a wrapped gift in traditional Christmas colors Wednesday while markets were closed for the holiday. 
GameStop shares were up more than 5% at last check on the heels of the Roaring Kitty post, per <a href="http://pro.benzinga.com">Benzinga Pro</a>. 
Other so-called meme stocks were also getting a lift, including Koss Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KOSS#NASDAQ">KOSS</a>) and BlackBerry Ltd (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BB#NYSE">BB</a>). But AMC was trading flat to down after jumping briefly at the open. 
AMC is considered one of the original meme stocks alongside GameStop. The stock has maintained cult-like support from a group of retail traders who call themselves apes since the meme stock craze of 2021. 
AMC CEO Adam Aron has leaned into the support from retail traders. He <a href="https://x.com/CEOAdam/status/1871919103780548802">reposted</a> multiple X posts on Wednesday featuring images of apes watching movies at AMC theaters.

Imax Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IMAX#NYSE">IMAX</a>) CEO Rich Gelfond also provided strong commentary on recent box office strength in an interview on CNBC&#8217;s &#8220;Squawk On The Street&#8221; Thursday morning. 
&#8220;The great thing about this time of year is every day is like a weekend &#8230; so a lot of momentum at the end of the year,&#8221; Gelfond said.
He noted that box office demand has been &#8220;really terrific&#8221; since Thanksgiving and suggested that a lot of families were visiting theaters on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
All of this seems to bode well for AMC, yet the stock is struggling to gain any momentum on Thursday. Instead, traders appear to guess Roaring Kitty&#8217;s next move.
Gill took a position in Chewy Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CHWY#NYSE">CHWY</a>) stock earlier this year and telegraphed the move by posting a picture of a dog on X before disclosing a 6.6% stake in the pet retailer a few days later. He <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/10/41614177/roaring-kitty-puts-chewy-stock-in-the-litter-box-gamestop-shares-move-higher-after-hours">dumped</a> his entire position in September.
Meme stocks began heating up again in early December after Gill&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/social-media/24/12/42349100/gamestop-rockets-as-roaring-kitty-returns-to-x-what-does-his-tweet-signal-ahead-of-q3-earnings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">posted an image</a>&nbsp;of a TIME magazine cover featuring a blank computer screen and a video player paused at the 1:09 mark of a 4:20-long video. His only other post since is the image of a present posted on Wednesday. 
There is a lot of speculation about what Roaring Kitty could be planning. One of the most popular guesses across Reddit&#8217;s r/WallStreetBets and Stocktwits appears to be a bet on Tilray Brands Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TLRY#NASDAQ">TLRY</a>). Tilray fits into the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/420">420 theme</a> and is due to report earnings before the market opens on Jan. 9, according to <a href="http://pro.benzinga.com">Benzinga Pro</a>. Tilray was up about 4% at last check.
GameStop shares are up about 5% over the past month and are up more than 46% over the past three months. AMC shares, on the other hand, are down about 18% over the past month and are down about 8% over a three-month period.

Quantum Computing, BlackBerry And Lucid Group Are Among Top Mid Cap Gainers Last Week (December 16-20): Are The Others In Your Portfolio?

BlackBerry Ltd (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BB#NYSE">BB</a>) stock surged upwards on Friday. The company reported <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/12/42606549/blackberry-beats-q3-earnings-estimates-but-soft-guidance-keeps-shares-in-check" rel="noreferrer noopener">third-quarter results</a> after the market closed on Thursday.
BlackBerry reported quarterly revenue of $143.00 million, missing the analyst consensus estimate of $161.49 million. The adjusted EPS was $0.02, beating analyst&nbsp;estimates.

BlackBerry expects fourth-quarter revenue of $126.00 million &#8211; $135.00 million, versus estimates of $150.08 million. It expects adjusted EPS of $(0.01) &#8211; $0.01. Analysts rerated the stock after the quarterly print.
RBC Capital analyst Paul Treiber reiterated BlackBerry with a Sector Perform and a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/BB/analyst-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">$3.25&nbsp;price target</a>.
BlackBerry&#8217;s third quarter marks its first quarter of financials without Cylance. The quarter exceeded Treiber&#8217;s estimates, though fourth-quarter guidance was short of his expectations.
Excluding Cylance (discontinued operations), third-quarter revenue was $143 million (-7% year-on-year), above Treiber&#8217;s estimated $128 million. All three revenue lines exceeded the analyst&#8217;s expectations: IoT ($62 million versus RBC and consensus at $58 million and $59 million), Secure Communications ($74 million versus RBC at $66 million), and Licensing ($7 million versus RBC and consensus at $4 million). Due to higher revenue, adjusted EBITDA was $35 million, above RBC at $13 million.
The fourth-quarter revenue guidance short of RBC. It calls for $126 million &#8211; $135 million in revenue, below RBC&#8217;s estimate of $138 million. The shortfall stems from Secure Communications ($62 million &#8211; $66 million versus RBC at $71 million). IoT guidance for $60 million &#8211; $65 million bracketed RBC estimate ($64 million). The mid-point of adjusted EBITDA guidance for $10 million &#8211; $20 million missed the RBC estimate of $19 million.
BlackBerry is now profitable and operating cash flow positive. However, Treiber noted that the valuation will likely remain discounted below that of peers pending improved IoT growth (fourth-quarter guidance calls for IoT revenue to be down 5% year-on-year at the mid-point).
BlackBerry is trading at a discounted valuation of 3.0 times NTM Enterprise Value/Sales.
Treiber noted that BlackBerry&#8217;s valuation will likely remain discounted, pending strengthening IoT growth and realizing improved profitability. The price target includes the $120 million cash proceeds from the sale of Cylance and values Secure Communications at 6.0 times calendar 2025 Enterprise Value/EBITDA (unchanged) and the IoT business at 6.1 times calendar 2025 Enterprise Value/ Sales (unchanged).
Price Action: BB stock is up 23.5% at $3.679 at last check Friday.

BlackBerry shares are trading higher following Q3 financial results.

U.S. stocks were higher, with the Dow Jones index gaining over 300 points on Friday.
Shares of Mission Produce, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AVO#NASDAQ">AVO</a>) rose sharply during today's session after the company reported <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/12/42605747/mission-produce-shares-grow-after-strong-q4-results-details">better-than-expected fourth-quarter sales results.</a>
Mission Produce reported quarterly earnings of 28 cents per share and quarterly revenue of $354.4 million, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $220.4 million.
Mission Produce shares jumped 22.3% to $15.07 on Friday.

U.S. stock futures declined on Friday, ahead of the &#8220;Triple Witching&#8221; hour, which is expected to see the expiry of about $6.6 trillion options, for the quarter.
This comes after the market fell on Wednesday after the Federal Reserve&#8217;s hawkish cut and ended mixed on Thursday. In Friday&#8217;s premarket, all four major indices were trading lower.
The 10-year and two-year Treasury notes yielded 4.55% and 4.28%, respectively. The probability of having no change in the interest rates for the upcoming Jan. 31, 2025 decision was at 89.3%, according <a href="https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html">to</a> CME Group&#8217;s FedWatch tool.
Investors will receive another critical economic data point on Friday with the release of the November personal consumption expenditures (PCE) inflation index. This release follows other inflation indicators that suggest price increases accelerated in November.

In premarket trading on Friday, the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) was down 1.16% to $579.30&nbsp;and the Invesco QQQ Trust ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>) fell 1.23% to $507.83, according to <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga Pro data</a>.
Cues From The Last Session
The S&amp;P 500 ended the day essentially unchanged after giving up earlier gains. The Nasdaq 100 fell 0.5%, fluctuating between small gains and losses throughout the session.
However, Dow Jones ended marginally higher, breaking its 10-day losing streak.
Most sectors on the S&amp;P 500 closed on a negative note, with materials, real estate, and energy stocks recording the biggest losses on Thursday. However, utilities and financials stocks bucked the overall market trend, closing the session higher.
Thursday&#8217;s economic data showed a revision upward in one of the Fed&#8217;s preferred inflation measures to 2.2%.
As Fed Chair Jerome Powell has indicated that further easing would require additional progress on inflation, market participants will now focus on the final significant economic data point of the year: November&#8217;s personal consumption expenditures, due out on Friday.

Insights From Analysts
The &#8220;Triple Witching&#8221; hour is a quarterly event that occurs during the final hour of trade on the third Friday of March, June, September, and December. During this period, contracts for stock index futures, stock index options, and stock options all expire at the same time.
According to the Chairman and Founder of Navellier &amp; Associates, Louis Navellier, &#8220;The timing of buying the dip is complicated by options expiration tomorrow and Christmas next week, but a recovery by the end of the year would not surprise anyone.&#8221;
He also said, &#8220;In my opinion, the stock and bond market reactions to the FOMC Statement, dot plot, and Fed Chairman Powell's press conference were grossly overdone and eviscerated all the stock market gains since the Presidential election.&#8221;
According to him, both France and Germany are in the midst of a political crisis and are "headless" until new leadership emerges. &#8220;As a result, I am expecting up to four Fed rate cuts in 2025 as collapsing interest rates in the eurozone also cause U.S. Treasury yields to decline,&#8221; he said.
However, Tom Lee, managing partner and head of research at Fundstrat Global Advisors, thinks <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/24/12/42608297/tom-lee-explains-why-fewer-cuts-in-2025-could-boost-the-market-urges-investors-to-buy-the-dip-amid-recent-volatility#:~:text=What%20Happened%3A%20%E2%80%9CThe%20fewer%20cuts,on%20Thursday%2C%20according%20to%20Fundstrat.&amp;text=%2C%20suffering%20its%20steepest%20one%2Dday%20decline%20since%20September%202022">fewer cuts are better for the economy</a>.
"The fewer cuts [the Fed does] in 2025, it actually is better for this bull market because it provides a lot of future ammunition to protect the economy," he said.
"I know yesterday's (Wednesday&#8217;s) pullback was really painful, but to us, the fundamentals supporting stocks are intact.&#8221;
Carson Research&#8217;s vice president and global macro strategist, Sonu Varghese called 2024 a &#8220;strong&#8221; year for U.S. stocks, even with the recent pullback.
&#8220;The fallout from the Fed meeting wiped out post-election gains across large swaths of the market, including value stocks and mid-cap and small-cap stocks, though looking back over the entire year, almost every major category is up double-digits so far, across style (value – core – growth) and capitalization (large – mid &#8211; small). For comparison the MSCI All-Cap World ex US Net Index is up just 7.2% year to date. That should tell you how strong of a year 2024 has been for US stocks, even with the recent pullback,&#8221; Varghese said in a note.

This is a 100 percent increase over earnings of $0.01 per share from the same period last year.
