The spacecraft transported NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov to the ISS for their five-month science mission. They will return with the stranded Boeing astronauts.
The Crew Dragon has two vacant seats for Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, who will return to Earth in February. Initially planned for eight days, their mission was extended due to a malfunction of the Starliner capsule on Jun. 5.

Wilmore and Williams will now be coming back to Earth aboard the SpaceX Crew Dragon that was launched on Saturday. Nick Hague and Aleksandr Gorbunov will join them on the ISS for a mission that will last several months, with a return home scheduled for February at the earliest.
Both SpaceX and Boeing developed their spaceships as part of NASA&#8217;s Commercial Crew Program. However, SpaceX&#8217;s Crew Dragon, which cost $2.6 billion, was significantly cheaper and faster than Boeing&#8217;s Starliner, which received $4.2 billion from NASA. Despite facing technical issues and delays, Boeing has had to bear all additional expenses due to its fixed-price contract with NASA, resulting in a loss of about $1.6 billion on Starliner.

Safety investigators have recently issued urgent recommendations to Boeing Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BA#NYSE">BA</a>) and the Federal Aviation Administration following the discovery of a potential safety issue with the 737 Max jets. The issue pertains to the pedals used by pilots to steer the aircraft on runways, which can reportedly become jammed due to moisture leakage.
What Happened: The National Transportation Safety Board has discovered that moisture can seep into the rudder assembly and freeze, causing the pedals to jam.
