While shares trade at all-time highs, the company has been consistently beating analyst estimates and showing strong results. Benzinga Bulls And Bears: AMD, Apple, Eli Lilly — And Wall Street Treads Water

Tech billionaire and Palantir Technologies co-founder Peter Thiel was one of the early believers in Bitcoin's (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) decentralized ethos and described the leading cryptocurrency as a &#8220;moderately big invention&#8221; not too long ago.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bitcoin&#8217;s Rise Compared To Internet Boom</h2>



During the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, which aired August 2024, Thiel dubbed the $2 trillion asset a "pretty big deal" that was "systematically underestimated" in its first 10-11 years.



"It went up smoothly for 10-11 years, didn&#8217;t get repriced all at once," he said. "We are in a world where nothing big ever happens and so we have no way of processing it when something pretty big happens."

Thiel, who also co-founded PayPal, compared the phenomenon to the Internet boom in the late 90's., stating, &#8220;Internet is really big. Bitcoin is moderately big."

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Is Bitcoin Still Underestimated?</h2>



A lot has changed for Bitcoin since Thiel made these observations.



Donald Trump's re-election and vocal support for Bitcoin spurred optimism and further capital inflows into the apex cryptocurrency. Earlier this year, Trump famously <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/crypto/cryptocurrency/25/06/46148904/donald-trump-says-bitcoin-takes-a-lot-of-pressure-off-the-dollar">said that BTC is helping relieve pressure</a> on the U.S. dollar and that it's "great" for the country.



Trump also <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/03/44183572/trump-establishes-strategic-bitcoin-reserve-funded-by-forfeited-assets-i-made-the-promise">signed an executive order</a> to establish a Bitcoin national reserve, funded&nbsp;with BTC seized by the&nbsp;federal government.



Significant progress has also been achieved on the legislative front, with <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/crypto/cryptocurrency/25/07/46484988/us-house-passes-crucial-crypto-bills-from-sec-chair-paul-atkins-to-coinbase-ceo-brian-armstrong-heres-how-everyone-reacted">key cryptocurrency bills</a>, aimed at establishing clear guidelines for the industry, passing in the Congress.



One would think Bitcoin is no longer "underestimated," as Thiel mentioned earlier.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Thiel&#8217;s Past Bets On Bitcoin</h2>



Thiel's venture capital firm, Founders Fund, has had a&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/02/37087400/peter-thiels-founders-fund-bets-big-on-bitcoin-and-ether-with-200m-investment-report#google_vignette" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">significant history with Bitcoin.</a> The fund made $1.8 billion through Bitcoin investments just before the market collapsed in 2022. It then purchased another $100 million in Bitcoin in 2023, when it was trading below $30,000.



Thiel, who still holds some Bitcoin, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/07/39569413/billionaire-peter-thiel-voices-skepticism-on-bitcoins-future-growth-im-not-sure-its-going-">expressed regret last year</a> for not purchasing more of the digital currency.

Elon Musk finished dead last in favorability in a recent Gallup poll asking Americans to assess 14 world figures.



What Happened:&nbsp;Musk&#8217;s approval ratings have taken a nosedive following his contentious tenure at the White House and the ensuing fallout with President Donald Trump. 



Musk&#8217;s actions have not only tarnished his personal image but have also triggered a substantial decline in Tesla&#8217;s sales and revenues.



The Gallup <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/693155/pope-leo-favorably-viewed-newsmakers.aspx">poll</a> showed that 61% of 1,000 randomly chosen American adults held a negative view of Musk. This follows Musk&#8217;s participation in the Department of Government Efficiency, his warnings about the difficulties under a Trump presidency, and his plans to revamp government agencies.



Before starting his White House work, Musk was viewed slightly more negatively than positively (43% favorable, 47% unfavorable). In the July poll, Musk&#8217;s favorable rating was 33% favorable, with 61% unfavorable &#8212; a 24-point downward swing.

The poll also shows a sharp drop in approval ratings for several current and former Trump administration figures, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and President Trump, signaling a turbulent run-up to next year's midterm elections.



The Gallup poll, conducted from July 7 to 21, revealed that Pope Leo XIV holds a net favorability score of +46, significantly higher than Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (+18) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) (+11). Pope Leo&#8217;s 57% favorability rating aligns with the initial ratings of his predecessors, Pope Francis and Pope Benedict XVI. 



Simultaneously, French President Emmanuel Macron and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) received mixed reviews, with a large portion of respondents expressing neutrality. Conversely, personalities like Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were viewed unfavorably.

Elon Musk's Favorability Rating Among Americans Has Tanked Since January

The creator of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, has raised concerns about the possible dangers posed by companies that hold Ethereum (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/eth/usd">ETH</a>) in their balance sheets. 



What Happened: Buterin warned that the overleveraging practices of companies holding ETH could potentially trigger a collapse of the cryptocurrency. 



During a recent interview he said, &#8220;If you woke me up three years from now and told me that treasuries led to the downfall of ETH, then, of course, my guess for why would basically be that somehow they turned into an overleveraged game, and then at some point a 30% drop turned into forced liquidations that turned into a 50% drop and then a 70% and 90% drop, and then that got compounded with a loss of credibility.&#8221;

Despite his cautionary note, Buterin also underscored the advantages of companies maintaining an ETH treasury. He pointed out the social value of coordinating around ETH as&nbsp;an asset that companies can&nbsp;include in their treasury.



"The social aspect of coordinating around ETH just being an asset that companies can have as part of their treasury is good and valuable. Having different vehicles for people to have access to ETH, which is, I think, one of the reasons why people are buying into treasury companies instead of just hodling ETH directly, is also good,&#8221; he further said.

Barbara Corcoran, a real estate mogul and star of the TV show &#8220;Shark Tank,&#8221; shared how President&nbsp;Donald Trump, then a real estate baron,&nbsp;used his salesmanship to sell his New York Plaza Hotel.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Trump Pitched Land, Not Hotel, And Sealed The Deal</h2>



Corcoran, speaking at the Business Insider&#8217;s IGNITION Conference in New York City in 2018, recounted her experiences with Trump as a real estate tycoon.



She recalled a time when Trump, on the brink of bankruptcy, managed to sell a large plot of land along with&nbsp;the Plaza Hotel in New&nbsp;York City, which was not initially part of the deal. This sale, she said, helped Trump recover from his financial troubles.



She spoke about how Trump walked into a high-stakes deal to sell the Plaza Hotel to one of Hong Kong's wealthiest families. Corcoran, who was a broker on the deal, said that they were desperate to close the deal. All the buyers wanted was the hotel. But Trump barely mentioned it.

Instead, he sold them on the Hudson River land. Corcoran thought Trump wouldn&#8217;t be able to close the deal, but he did. Trump not only successfully sold the Plaza hotel, but the elite Asian buyers bought the adjoining land parcels too later making the Trump Towers on it.



&#8220;I&#8217;ve&nbsp;done a lot of work&nbsp;with Donald and I can&nbsp;tell you he is the&nbsp;best salesman I&#8217;ve ever met in my life,&#8221; said Corcoran.

&#8220;He&nbsp;put his finger on what&nbsp;the weakness was, the vulnerability&nbsp;of people and he knows&nbsp;how to touch it just&nbsp;so. And people go along&nbsp;for the ride,&#8221; Corcoran said.

It's been a raucous rally ever since the Trump tariffs were canceled a week after the inaptly-named Liberation Day press conference. But now, with Q2 earnings rolling out, we're seeing some stocks get left behind after poor numbers or guidance projections.



Even decent numbers are getting punished. Take Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMD#NASDAQ">AMD</a>) as an example, whose stock sank over 6% the day after it beat top and bottom line projections. If you're a company with high expectations, you can't just narrowly surpass expectations &#8211; you need to crush them.



But things look very different for stocks with low expectations. Not every company has participated in the Q2 rally, and some stocks are reaching key technical levels that indicate a potential rebound.

The company reported EPS of $0.10, beating the consensus expectation of $0.04. Over 234.8 million rides were booked in Q2, which is the highest figure on record for Lyft. But, it also represented 14% year-over-year (YOY) growth, marking the slowest quarter of gross bookings growth in the last two years.



However, revenue is still hitting records, and slowing growth can be expected when you're eclipsing 234 million rides in a quarter. Lyft is also reaping benefits from strategic partnerships with DoorDash, Chase, United Airlines, Mastercard, and Hilton &#8211; over 25% of gross bookings now come from partners.

The RSI triggered an Oversold reading in the first week of August, but it also hit this level back in the summer of 2025. In that instance, shares nearly doubled in just a few months until the RSI found itself at the other end of the spectrum, over 70. If Lyft can continue expanding bookings and revenue, the stock could repeat its 2025 performance.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">International Business Machines Corp.</h2>



IBM (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IBM#NYSE">IBM</a>) hasn't exactly been left behind during the latest rally, but its stock has pulled back a bit in the last few weeks following a record rally. The stock reached a new all-time high of $294.78 on June 30 but has since dropped 15% despite a glowing Q2 earnings report on July 23. IBM beat top and bottom line estimates with YOY revenue growth of 8%, and boosted full-year guidance to $66.83 billion.

Like Lyft, IBM sold off following the report, but this is likely profit-taking after the stock had gained over 40% in the last 12 months. The RSI is flashing an Oversold signal with the stock sitting firm at the 200-day moving average, which has previously been a level of strong support. Once the profit taking subsides, IBM's long-term trend remains firmly intact, and buyers will likely have a good entry point for new positions.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Dana Inc.&nbsp;</h2>



Dana Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DAN#NYSE">DAN</a>) is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for vehicles and machines, providing propulsion equipment and energy solutions for trucks, SUVs, vans, and passenger cars. Like many equipment manufacturers, Dana was hit hard by the Trump tariff announcements in April, but has since recovered most of those losses. The company just released earnings earlier this week, and expectations were largely met.

OppFi (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/OPFI#NYSE">OPFI</a>) is a small fintech company with a market capitalization under $1 billion and annual sales of only $525 million. But, we aren't looking for massive companies producing record revenue; we're looking for oversold stocks ready to reverse, and OPFI shares are offering plenty of evidence that the next move is to the upside.

OPFI has impressive growth metrics and a chart to back it up, so a momentum reversal to the upside here is a strong possibility.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kaiser Aluminum Corp.&nbsp;</h2>



Kaiser Aluminum (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KALU#NASDAQ">KALU</a>) manufactures and sells prefabricated aluminum and steel products to a global base of customers, which could help explain part of its slump as President Trump continues to make steel and aluminum tariffs increasingly prohibitive. Despite beating EPS and revenue estimates, the stock dropped more than 20% in the days following its Q2 earnings release on July 23. A reduction in free cash flow guidance was the major red flag in the report, but the EBITDA outlook was improved, and the company maintained margins of 19% in the first half of 2025.
