These funds mirror the performance of the S&amp;P 500 Index.</p>

<p><strong>SS&amp;C Technologies Holdings Inc.</strong> (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SSNC#NASDAQ">SSNC</a>) has signed a definitive <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/07/b46512828/ss-c-technologies-to-acquire-calastone" rel="noreferrer noopener">agreement to acquire</a> <strong>Calastone</strong>, a major technology player in the wealth and asset management space, from global investment firm <strong>Carlyle</strong> (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CG#NASDAQ">CG</a>) for approximately £766 million, or around $1.03 billion.</p>
<p>The deal marks a major expansion move for SS&amp;C in global fund distribution and automation. Based in London, Calastone connects over 4,500 financial organizations across 57 markets. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, pending regulatory clearance.</p>
<p>SS&amp;C will integrate Calastone&#8217;s 250-person workforce across seven global offices into its Global Investor &amp; Distribution Solutions unit, led by General Manager Nick Wright. The acquisition, to be financed through a mix of debt and cash, is expected to become earnings accretive within 12 months.</p>

<p>SS&amp;C&#8217;s Chairman and CEO <strong>Bill Stone</strong> said the combination will help build a more intelligent and automated global fund infrastructure. &#8220;Together, we will create a more connected, automated, and intelligent global fund ecosystem,&#8221; he said.</p>
<p>Calastone&#8217;s platform aligns with SS&amp;C&#8217;s strengths in fund administration, AI, and automation. The merger aims to cut costs and risks for clients while improving scalability and investor services globally.</p>
<p><strong>Julien Hammerson</strong>, Calastone&#8217;s CEO, said joining SS&amp;C will help speed innovation and deliver new capabilities to asset and wealth managers. Fernando Chueca of Carlyle added that the firm is confident SS&amp;C is the right partner to carry Calastone forward after a period of substantial growth.</p>
<p>SS&amp;C Technologies held <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/04/b44994849/ss-c-technologies-releases-q1-2025-earnings-results" rel="noreferrer noopener">$515.0 million</a> in cash and cash equivalents as of March 31, 2025.</p>

<p>While the market absorbs a mixed bag of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/07/46435439/dow-tumbles-over-400-points-as-inflation-rises-faster-than-expected-fear-index-moves-to-greed-zone">inflation reports</a> and Fed projections, focus is shifting back to earnings, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings/analyst-color/25/07/46420414/bank-earnings-performance-q2-citigroup-jpmorgan-blackrock-wells-fargo">beginning with the largest banks</a>. <strong>Goldman Sachs</strong> (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GS#NYSE">GS</a>), <strong>Morgan Stanley</strong> (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MS#NYSE">MS</a>) and <strong>Bank of America </strong>(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BAC#NYSE">BAC</a>) reported on Wednesday and their figures have the financial sector cheering.</p>
<p>But rather than stock-picking their way through spreadsheets and surprise provisions, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/etfs">ETF investors</a> can take a more direct approach: positioning through financial sector funds that provide broad exposure to Wall Street&#8217;s largest names.</p>
<p>The earnings season started on a positive note on Tuesday. <strong>Wells Fargo &amp; Company </strong>(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WC#NYSE">WC</a>) topped forecasts with higher-than-expected second-quarter adjusted EPS on July 15, benefiting from higher net interest income and careful cost discipline. Meanwhile, <strong>JPMorgan Chase &amp; Co. </strong>(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JPM#NYSE">JPM</a>) also exceeded expectations, with solid performances from both its consumer and commercial banking segments.</p>
<p>These initial beats gave hope that the remainder of the large bank group— Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Bank of America— could do the same, and they did today. </p>
<p>Bank of America beat earnings estimates and saw revenue growth. Goldman Sachs also came ahead of estimates, as trading operations generated $840 million more revenue than expected. Morgan Stanley, too, beat earnings estimates on increased trading revenues.</p>
<p>This creates a key window now for ETF investors wanting to ride or hedge against banking sector volatility.</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The ETF Earnings Playbook: Financials In Focus</h2>
<p>Bank stocks can sometimes serve as macroeconomic health indicators. Loan expansion, consumer credit, investment banking work, and trading revenues all speak to a larger economic tale. And when sentiment is soaring (as it is currently, with the CNN Fear &amp; Greed Index in the &#8220;Greed&#8221; range), financials may receive a boost or a beating from even small surprises.</p>
<p>Three ETFs are in the limelight this earnings season:</p>
<p><strong>Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund </strong>(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/XLF#NYSE">XLF</a>): The fund, which has an expense ratio of 0.08%, has leadership holdings in  JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley.</p>

<p><strong>The trade</strong>: Bullish on big banks beating earnings estimates? XLF provides broad but concentrated exposure.</p>
<p><strong>SPDR S&amp;P Bank ETF</strong> (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KBE#NYSE">KBE</a>): This fund has an expense ratio of 0.35% and has exposure to large and regional banks. Among the top holdings are <strong>Bancorp </strong>(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TBBK#NASDAQ">TBBK</a>), <strong>Citigroup Inc</strong> (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/C#NYSE">C</a>), and <strong>Northern Trust Corp</strong> (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NTRS#NASDAQ">NTRS</a>).</p>
<p><strong>Why it matters</strong>: KBE equal-weights its positions, so it&#8217;s not controlled by the megabanks. That makes it a good bet if you believe the regional banking sector will surprise to the upside, or just remain stable after a rough year.</p>

<p><strong>Why it matters</strong>: SPY is not a financials ETF, but banking earnings tend to lead the overall market in terms of setting the tone. Positive bank earnings can boost investor sentiment across the board.</p>
<p>The trade: For those who think banks will lead the momentum and enhance risk appetite, SPY is a means to participate in that without committing to a single sector.</p>
<p>Although the hot <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/economic-data/25/07/46413961/june-inflation-cpi-report">headline inflation print </a>was at 2.7% YoY, core inflation surprisingly came in lower. That could be a green light for the banks, particularly if interest rate expectations are maintained and the loan books are healthy.</p>
<p>Despite this, not everything is rosy. The Dow fell by over 400 points on Tuesday and healthcare and materials pulled the S&amp;P 500 down. But Nasdaq jumped to new highs following Nvidia&#8217;s AI-powered chip romp, illustrating just how divided the market is.</p>

Bank Of America Q2 Earnings Preview: Can Top Warren Buffett Holding Keep Beating Analyst Estimates?

<p>The second-quarter earnings season for banks kicked off with blowout numbers from the biggest names on Wall Street, but investors weren't in <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets">the mood to celebrate.</a></p>
<p>Despite a string of upside surprises in profit and trading performance, investors focused sharply on guidance and margin pressure, sending several top bank stocks lower.</p>
<p>The <strong>Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund </strong>(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/XLF#NYSE">XLF</a>), which tracks major U.S. banks, slid 1.1% by 10:15 a.m. in New York.</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>JPMorgan: Strong Results, But Higher Costs Hit Sentiment</strong><br /><br />
<p data-start="1495" data-end="1833"></p>
</h2>
<p><strong>JPMorgan Chase &amp; Co.</strong> (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JPM#NYSE">JPM</a>) kicked off earnings season with second-quarter earnings per share of $5.24, blowing past the $4.47 consensus estimate by 17%. </p>
<p>Revenues also came in strong at $45.68 billion, versus the expected $44.05 billion.</p>
<p>The standout driver: investment banking and trading, where equities and FICC (fixed income, currencies and commodities) revenues beat forecasts by $50 million and $470 million, respectively.</p>
<p>Despite a modest miss on net interest income (NII)—$23.31 billion vs. $23.59 billion expected—the bank lifted its full-year NII forecast to $95.5 billion from $94.5 billion. </p>
<p>Return on equity jumped to 18%, well above the 15.1% estimate, and loan growth surged past expectations with $1.41 trillion in total loans.</p>
<p>"JPM delivered on strong fees and raised guidance, even as core NII came in light," Goldman Sachs analyst <strong>Richard Ramsden </strong>said in a client note, adding that the bank's 20.6% return on tangible equity was 360 basis points above its long-term guidance.</p>
<p>Yet, shares slipped 1.1% as investors zeroed in on higher expense projections and softening net interest margins.</p>

<p><strong>Citigroup Inc</strong>. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/C#NYSE">C</a>) posted one of its strongest quarters in years, with EPS of $1.96 versus the $1.60 consensus. Revenue rose to $21.67 billion, topping estimates thanks to a robust trading environment. FICC revenue hit $4.27 billion, nearly 9% above expectations, while equities trading delivered $1.61 billion.</p>
<p>Trading was a bright spot: FICC sales and trading revenue came in at $4.27 billion, beating expectations by nearly 9%, while equities revenue rose to $1.61 billion. Net interest income also surprised on the upside at $15.18 billion, compared to the $14.05 billion forecast.</p>
<p>Citi now expects full-year adjusted revenue to be near $84 billion, reaffirming the upper end of its previous guidance. The strong report supports recent bullish analyst calls highlighting Citigroup as a top money center bank pick for the remainder of the year.</p>
<p>The market responded positively, with Citigroup shares rising 1% to set a new record high.</p>

<p><strong>Wells Fargo &amp; Co. </strong>(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WFC#NYSE">WFC</a>) also beat expectations with second-quarter EPS of $1.60 versus the $1.41 estimate. Revenues landed at $20.82 billion, essentially in line. </p>
<p>Yet, management trimmed its 2025 net interest income guidance to $47.7 billion, now expected to be flat year over year, citing lower market-related income. That modest disappointment was softened by solid fee income growth and stronger-than-expected loan performance.</p>
<p>"Wells delivered a mixed bag," Ramsden said, noting that while core EPS was slightly below Goldman estimates, loan growth and capital markets fees were encouraging.</p>
<p>Wells Fargo stock declined 4.7% on the news, making it the worst-performing large-cap bank on Tuesday.</p>

<p><strong>BlackRock Inc. </strong>(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BLK#NYSE">BLK</a>) posted adjusted EPS of $12.05, easily beating the $10.87 estimate. While net inflows came in light at $67.74 billion—well below the $84.72 billion forecast—the firm's assets under management rose to $12.53 trillion, driven by strong equity flows and favorable market performance. </p>
<p>Base fee revenue hit $4.45 billion, marginally above estimates, and the asset manager enters the second half of 2025 with a stronger fee base thanks to the closing of its HPS acquisition.</p>
<p>Despite the record AUM, BlackRock shares plunged 6.5%, as softer flows and rising expenses overshadowed the earnings beat.</p>

<p>Wells Fargo is forecast to earn $1.40 per share, a 5.3% increase over the prior-year quarter. Revenue is expected to remain flat at $20.78 billion, indicating stable core banking performance despite macroeconomic headwinds.</p>
<p><strong>BlackRock Inc.</strong> (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BLK#NYSE">BLK</a>), although not a traditional bank, is poised for a solid performance in asset management, with EPS expected to reach $10.80, representing a 4.2% increase over last year. Revenues are projected to be $5.34 billion, representing an 11% increase.</p>
<p>Other names in focus include <strong>Bank of New York Mellon Corp.</strong> (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BK#NYSE">BK</a>), expected to post EPS of $1.76 on $4.83 billion in revenue, and <strong>State Street Corp.</strong> (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/STT#NYSE">STT</a>), which is projected to earn $2.37 per share on $3.35 billion in revenue—both reflecting ongoing resilience in custody and asset servicing segments.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Banks To Step Up Shareholder Returns</h2>
<p>The positive earnings outlook follows banks passing the Federal Reserve's June stress tests with ease, prompting widespread dividend hikes.</p>
<p>The median dividend per share across major banks rose 7%, with standouts like <strong>Goldman Sachs Group Inc. </strong>(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GS#NYSE">GS</a>) lifting its quarterly payout 33% to $4.00.</p>
<p>JPMorgan raised its dividend by 7% to $1.50 and authorized a massive $50 billion stock buyback program.</p>
<p>Citigroup boosted its dividend by 7% and continues its $20 billion multi-year repurchase plan.</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Analyst Views: Where's The Opportunity?</strong></h2>
<p>Goldman Sachs analyst <strong>Richard Ramsden</strong> said Wells Fargo and <strong>Bank of America Corp.</strong> (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BAC#NYSE">BAC</a>) offer the best earnings upside for investors heading into 2026.</p>
<p>He sees Bank of America's net interest income (NII) growing 7% annually through 2026, outperforming large bank peers, driven by stronger loan growth, favorable asset sensitivity and lower deposit costs. "We view BAC&#8217;s current ~1.5x 2026E price-to-tangible book value as attractive," Ramsden said.</p>
<p>For Wells Fargo, the recent removal of its asset cap opens the door to deposit growth, capital markets expansion and cost savings. Ramsden believes these factors could boost earnings by as much as 19% and push return on tangible common equity (ROTCE) to as high as 17.3%.</p>
<p>Bank of America analyst <strong>Ebrahim Poonawala</strong> echoed bullish sentiment, saying the sector could see &#8220;positive EPS revisions and further stock re-rating&#8221; if capital expenditures and client activity pick up.</p>
<p>He flagged Citigroup, Wells Fargo, and Goldman Sachs as offering the best risk-reward among money center banks.</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What's At Stake For Investors?</strong></h2>
<p>With the <strong>Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund </strong>(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/XLF#NYSE">XLF</a>) up more than 8% year-to-date, bank stocks have already benefited from a more stable rate environment and strong capital positions.</p>
<p>However, any surprises in loan demand, expense growth, or trading revenue could quickly swing sentiment.</p>
<p>Tuesday&#8217;s results will set the tone for the rest of earnings season and could determine whether banks still have room to run, or whether Wall Street has already priced in the rebound.</p>
