Inclusion of the Model 3+ trim in the catalog released by the ministry is seen as the final regulatory step before it can be sold in the Chinese market, the report suggests.

Additionally, CFO Joe Wolk <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-07-16/j-j-beats-sales-expectations-while-trump-threatens-tariffs">told</a> Bloomberg that a slow tariff ramp-up, potentially starting late July with levies up to 200% if manufacturing doesn't shift to the U.S., offers strategic breathing room, not relief, given the time needed for biopharma facilities. 
This comes as President Trump announced last week that the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/07/46364024/trump-threatens-200-pharma-tariffs-but-analyst-says-this-stock-is-immune-and-expected-to-benefit-from-levies">pharma tariffs</a>, part of a Section 232 investigation launched in April, are expected to be detailed by month&#8217;s end, with a grace period of &#8220;about a year, year and a half&#8221; before implementation.
The delay shows "there's an understanding you can't put up a biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility overnight," Wolk told Bloomberg. "As long as those conversations continue to occur, I think we're in a pretty good position."
