The Fund normally invests at least 80 percent of its total assets in securities that comprise the Funds benchmark index. The Semiconductor Index includes common stocks and depositary receipts of U.S. exchange-listed companies in the semiconductor industry. Such companies may include medium-capitalization companies and foreign companies that are listed on a U.S. exchange. To be initially eligible for the Semiconductor Index, companies must generate at least 50 percent of their revenues from semiconductors. Semiconductors include companies engaged primarily in the production of semiconductors and semiconductor equipment. Of the largest 50 stocks in the semiconductor industry by full market capitalization, the top 25 by free-float market capitalization (i.e., includes only shares that are readily available for trading in the market) and three month average daily trading volume are included in the Semiconductor Index.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co&#8217;s (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSM#NYSE">TSM</a>) <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/24/08/40554768/taiwan-semiconductor-ramps-up-overseas-investments-with-1-95b-in-subsidies-eyes-long-term-growth" rel="noreferrer noopener">debut plant in</a> Kumamoto, Japan, will start commercializing by the end of 2024.
Sony Group Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SONY#NYSE">SONY</a>) and Denso Corp (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DNZOF#OTC">DNZOF</a>) (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DNZOY#OTC">DNZOY</a>) will be the Taiwanese contract chipmaker&#8217;s initial customers, Technode <a target="_blank" href="https://technode.com/2024/12/19/tsmcs-kumamoto-plant-to-supply-initial-output-to-sony-and-denso/" rel="noreferrer noopener">cited</a> JASM (Taiwan Semiconductor&#8217;s Japanese subsidiary) President Yuichi Horita from a Taiwanese media outlet.
Horita expects Taiwan Semiconductor&#8217;s production line in Japan to align with the quality of those in Taiwan.
The first Kumamoto plant focuses on 22 nm,28 nm, 12 nm, and 16nm processes, while the second will produce 6 nm and 7nm process chips, as planned.

Construction of the second Kumamoto plant will likely begin in the first quarter of 2025, with mass production scheduled by the end of 2027.
The combined monthly production capacity of the two plants will likely exceed 100,000 wafers.
The Japanese government <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/regulations/24/11/41939018/japan-increases-semiconductor-funding-as-us-trade-policies-pressure-taiwan-semiconductor" rel="noreferrer noopener">earmarked over $64.9 billion</a> to consolidate its semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) positions, taking a cue from the U.S. and China. Taiwan Semiconductor&#8217;s Arizona fab, worth $20 billion, will produce <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/media/24/12/42514266/taiwan-semiconductor-unveils-20-billion-arizona-chip-fab-apple-named-key-customer" rel="noreferrer noopener">4-nanometer chips by 2025</a>.
Currently, 92% of the most advanced chips are made in Taiwan.
Japan&#8217;s semiconductor package totals over 10 trillion yen and aims to drive public and private investment of over 50 trillion yen by fiscal 2030.
Taiwan Semiconductor is eyeing a second facility in Japan&#8217;s Kumamoto, following its initial $8.6 billion wafer factory in the region. The company plans to invest $13.5 billion in the project.
The chipmaker is also plotting a third high-tech chip production facility worth $20 billion in Kumamoto to manufacture 3 nm chips.
Taiwan Semiconductor chair and CEO&nbsp;C.C. Wei <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42507816/taiwan-semiconductor-ceo-highlights-ai-powered-drones-next-gen-robots-as-growth-drivers" rel="noreferrer noopener">expects advanced robots</a> and AI-powered drones to be key growth drivers.
Taiwan Semiconductor stock surged 92% year-to-date.

Taiwan Semiconductor Expands in Japan: Sony and Denso Among First Customers

<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/european-commission" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The European Commission</a> granted unconditional approval Thursday for Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) to acquire Run:ai Labs Ltd, an Israel-based provider of GPU orchestration software.
The decision under the EU Merger Regulation concluded the acquisition would not raise competition concerns within the European Economic Area.
Nvidia, a U.S.-based leader in GPU technology for data centers, gaming and automotive applications, aims to integrate Run: ai&#8217;s software into its ecosystem. Run:ai specializes in software that helps organizations optimize and manage their artificial intelligence compute workloads across various environments, including on-premises and cloud platforms.
The commission&#8217;s investigation focused on whether the merger could harm competition in two critical markets: discrete GPUs for data centers and GPU orchestration software.
Although Nvidia holds a dominant position in the global market for data center GPUs, the inquiry determined the company lacks the technical ability and motivation to limit compatibility between its GPUs and competing software solutions. Similarly, Run:ai does not command a significant market share in GPU orchestration software, ensuring continued access to alternative providers for customers.
Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SMCI#NASDAQ">SMCI</a>) and Dell Technologies Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DELL#NYSE">DELL</a>) server products embedded Nvidia AI chips.
Some customers replicated serial numbers of the servers containing Nvidia chips purchased from Super Micro and attached them to other servers.
Also, smugglers altered the serial numbers in the server operating system.
Dell and Super Micro said they complied with the regulatory norms.
U.S. Big Tech giants have drawn intense regulatory scrutiny for allegedly trying to stifle fair competition by exploiting their influence.
In 2024, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/24/11/41685490/nvidias-run-ai-acquisition-draws-european-regulatory-scrutiny-on-competition-concerns" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">U.S. regulatory bodies</a>, including the Department of Justice&#8217;s antitrust division, reviewed Nvidia&#8217;s potential dominance within the AI chip sector. The Federal Trade Commission was also examining investments by the Big Tech giants.
Nvidia&#8217;s plans to purchase British chip designer Arm Holdings plc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ARM#NASDAQ">ARM</a>) succumbed to global regulatory opposition. Other significant acquisitions that failed to win regulatory approval included Broadcom Inc&#8217;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AVGO#NASDAQ">AVGO</a>) plans to acquire Qualcomm Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QCOM#NASDAQ">QCOM</a>).
Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Commerce urged Nvidia&nbsp;to investigate how the company&#8217;s products reached China by flouting the semiconductor embargo, Reuters reported, citing The Information.
The Biden Administration slapped semiconductor sanctions on China by restricting its access to advanced artificial intelligence technology chips and equipment meant to produce the chips.
Nvidia urged leading distributors like Super Micro Computer and Dell to conduct spot checks of Southeast Asian customers.
Nvidia stock surged over 171% year-to-date. Nvidia Secures EU Approval For Run:ai Deal, US Probes China Export Breach

As markets brace for the Federal Reserve's final policy meeting of the year, scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Goldman Sachs highlighted 20 exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that have historically shown outsized <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/federal-reserve">moves around Fed decision days</a>.
While a 25-basis-point rate cut to a target range of 4.25%-4.50% is widely anticipated, the market's focus is on the Fed's forward guidance, particularly the Summary of Economic Projections (SEP) and the updated &#8220;dot plot.&#8221;
Following December's expected cut, Goldman Sachs projects a more measured pace of easing next year, forecasting rate cuts in March, June, and September, with the terminal rate seen at 3.50%-3.75%.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Market Dynamics Around Fed Days</h3>
U.S. equity markets have displayed strong short-term gains during Fed meeting weeks in 2024. 
Investors employing a simple strategy of buying the S&amp;P 500 index at market close before a Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) announcement and selling at close the following day have captured median returns of 1.1% across the past seven meetings.
Yet those extending the trade horizon to 15 sessions post-Fed meeting have enjoyed significantly larger average gains of 3.29%, more than double the short-term returns. Notably, every Fed meeting this year has resulted in positive 15-day returns.
"We observe that U.S. banking ETFs, such as SPDR S&amp;P Bank ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KBE#NYSE">KBE</a>) and SPDR S&amp;P Regional Banking ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KRE#NYSE">KRE</a>), have seen unusually large moves on FOMC days since 2022" Goldman analysts wrote in a recent note.
For bond-focused investors, the report highlights consistent post-meeting gains in high-yield and investment-grade ETFs like iShares iBoxx $ High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HYG#NYSE">HYG</a>) and iShares iBoxx $ Investment Grade Corporate Bond ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LQD#NYSE">LQD</a>).
Meanwhile, energy-focused ETFs, such as the United States Oil Fund (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/USO#NYSE">USO</a>), have seen negative reactions.

Denso President Shinnosuke Hayashi emphasized the importance of a strong supply chain for critical materials like semiconductors, noting that Denso, the world&#8217;s second-largest supplier of automotive systems and parts, relies on this to deliver innovative products to customers.
He highlighted the need for collaboration with industry leaders like ON Semiconductor, which has advanced vehicle safety and autonomy through intelligent sensing technologies while providing reliable supply assurance.
Denso intends to acquire ON Semiconductor stock on the open market as a mark of their collaboration.
Bank of America analyst Vivek Arya identified ON Semiconductor among his top picks for 2025, projecting a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/12/42516826/nvidia-and-5-other-stocks-are-analysts-top-semiconductor-picks-for-2025-sees-2-ai-trends" rel="noreferrer noopener">recovery from cyclical trends</a>. He expects the automotive and industrial sectors to drive significant semiconductor demand in the latter half of the year.

After ON Semiconductor&#8217;s <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/10/41603256/on-semiconductors-q3-solid-analyst-highlight-l-shaped-recovery" rel="noreferrer noopener">third-quarter print</a>, Needham analyst Quinn Bolton projected an L-shaped recovery for the company through the first half of 2025. Datacenter opportunities will gain traction as key design wins ramp up next year.
Goldman Sachs analyst Toshiya Hari, Benchmark analyst David Williams, and JP Morgan analyst Harlan Sur flagged China&#8217;s EV market strength and silicon carbide (SiC) growth.

ON Semiconductor and Denso Team Up to Boost Self-Driving Tech

Two of the globe&#8217;s largest chip manufacturers will clash in court this week due to a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/intellectual-property">disagreement over intellectual property</a>.
What Happened: Arm Holdings plc's (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ARM#NASDAQ">ARM</a>) legal spat with Qualcomm Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QCOM#NASDAQ">QCOM</a>) commenced Monday, Dec. 16, before a federal jury in Delaware, Bloomberg <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-12-16/arm-qualcomm-contract-fight-threatens-to-upend-chip-industry?sref=TBDibEcD">reported</a>.
Recall Qualcomm's <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/21/01/19148004/qualcomm-to-buy-startup-nuvia-in-1-4b-deal-what-investors-need-to-know">$1.4 billion acquisition of NUVIA</a>, a chip startup, in 2021. Just two years earlier, Arm granted licenses to NUVIA — assets Qualcomm eventually inherited.
Arm, headquartered in the U.K. and majority-owned by SoftBank Group, claims the Nuvia deal requires renegotiation. It also wants Qualcomm to destroy certain chip designs it received once the deal closed.
Qualcomm, in court documents, insists it has its own license agreements with Arm. &#8220;Qualcomm has licensed and paid for the same intellectual property that NUVIA licensed under its own separate agreements with ARM,&#8221; the statement <a href="https://semianalysis.com/wp-content/uploads/files/71776a9c-ee79-4c5c-947b-f7e98cf40bcc.pdf">reads</a>.

Why It Matters: The case — Arm v. Qualcomm, 22-cv-01146, US District Court, District of Delaware (Wilmington) — will likely see both CEOs, Arm&#8217;s Rene Haas and Qualcomm&#8217;s Cristiano Amon, take the stand.
This isn't the first time an M&amp;A agreement involving these companies sparked legal challenges. Back in 2020, Nvidia attempted to buy Arm for $40 billion, which threw San Diego-based Qualcomm and other tech companies into a panic.
Regulators sank the deal in 2022 when the Federal Trade Commission sued Nvidia to block the merger. Arm also faced substantial regulatory pressure from British authorities.&nbsp;
Fast-forward to today, and Arm is now trying to flex its muscles by pulling Qualcomm's license — worth an estimated $1.5 billion.
And Qualcomm is not known to give up easily. Recall its past licensing tussle with Apple, <a href="https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2019/04/qualcomm-and-apple-agree-to-drop-all-litigation/">settled</a> in April 2019. 
What&#8217;s Next: Analysts predict the companies will eventually settle, probably with Qualcomm paying more to access Arm's tech. 
The proceedings are anticipated to conclude by Friday, Dec. 20.
It&#8217;s worth noting that the chips in question power most mainstream devices, and the legal dispute could have wide-ranging repercussions on the tech industry.

Taiwan Semiconductor stock surged 98% year-to-date, as it is the chief contract chipmaker for Big Techs, including Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) and Apple Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>).
Taiwan Semiconductor is producing Proxima, the chip set to power Apple&#8217;s first in-house connectivity <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42487128/apples-2025-chip-transition-targets-new-wireless-edge-broadcom-to-retain-key-role" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">products in 2025</a>. Apple plans to transition to in-house chips for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity starting in 2025.
Nvidia is considering producing the front-end process of Blackwell AI chips at <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42336825/nvidia-could-become-taiwan-semis-3rd-us-plant-customer" rel="noreferrer noopener">Taiwan Semiconductor&#8217;s Arizona plant</a>. The International Data Corp (IDC) expects Taiwan Semiconductor to post a ~25% revenue increase in 2025, driven by advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) applications and <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42480928/taiwan-semi-set-to-command-67-foundry-market-share-idc" rel="noreferrer noopener">crypto mining technologies</a>.
IDC projects the global semiconductor industry will expand by 15%, with the international foundry market growing by 20% in 2025. The forecast also suggests Taiwan Semiconductor will capture a 67% share of the global foundry market in 2025, a 300 basis-point increase from the previous year.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSM#NYSE">TSM</a>) maintained its global wafer foundry business turf in the third quarter of 2024.
The contract chipmaker&#8217;s market share grew to 64.9% (up from 62.3% in the second quarter) ahead of Samsung Electronics Co (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SSNLF#OTC">SSNLF</a>) as flagship smartphone products and high-performance computing (HPC) devices gain traction, the Taipei Times <a target="_blank" href="https://www.taipeitimes.com/News/biz/archives/2024/12/09/2003828160" rel="noreferrer noopener">cites</a> from TrendForce report.
Taiwan Semiconductor reported a 39% topline growth in the third quarter, reaching a revenue of $23.5 billion.

The chipmaker&#8217;s production capacity utilization and wafer shipment boost helped it beat its rivals.
Taiwan Semiconductor credited <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/24/11/41811866/taiwan-semi-and-globalfoundries-finalize-major-us-funding-deals-eye-growth-in-chip-manufacturing" rel="noreferrer noopener">smartphone and AI-related</a> demand for its 3nm (which Needham&#8217;s Charles Shi&nbsp;primarily attributed to&nbsp;Apple Inc (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/aapl#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) and 5nm technologies.&nbsp;
Samsung bore the brunt of competition from Chinese rivals for advanced technology, with its market share falling to 9.3% in the quarter, down from 11.5% in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, the aggregate sales of the top wafer foundry operators stood at $34.9 billion, up 9.1%, sequentially as the advanced 3nm process gained traction.
China&#8217;s Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp ranked third with a market share of 6.0%, ahead of United Microelectronics Corp&#8217;s (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UMC#NYSE">UMC</a>) 5.2% and GlobalFoundries Inc&#8217;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GFS#NASDAQ">GFS</a>) 4.8%.
TrendForce expects robust global demand for emerging technologies to boost sales of the top ten wafer foundry operators in the fourth quarter.
Taiwan Semiconductor and GlobalFoundries are key contenders for U.S. chip subsidies. Taiwan Semiconductor won a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/24/11/41811866/taiwan-semi-and-globalfoundries-finalize-major-us-funding-deals-eye-growth-in-chip-manufacturing" rel="noreferrer noopener">$6.6 billion grant</a> for its Phoenix, Arizona semiconductor project, and GlobalFoundries won $1.5 billion for its facilities in Malta, New York, and Burlington, Vermont.
SinoPac Financial&#8217;s Jack Huang expects Taiwan Semiconductor
<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42366347/taiwan-semi-set-to-power-taiwan-semiconductor-index-surge-in-2025-fueled-by-ai-demand" rel="noreferrer noopener">to grow its</a> business by 20% in 2025, contributing to a Taiex rally in the first half of 2025, the benchmark weighted index on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.

Taiwan Semiconductor Extends Lead As Top Chipmaker

SinoPac Financial Holdings chief economist Jack Huang expects chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSM#NYSE">TSM</a>) to grow its business by 20% in 2025. 
What Happened: Huang <a href="https://www.taipeitimes.com/News/biz/archives/2024/12/06/2003828030" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">said</a> Wednesday that Taiwan Semiconductor could also be pivotal to an expected Taiex rally in the first half of 2025.
Taiex is the benchmark weighted index on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE).
Taiwan Semiconductor will continue to capitalize on the demand frenzy for electronics used in artificial intelligence (AI) applications, leading to the surge in the Taiwanese stock index.

SinoPac Financial expects the US dollar to hold up despite Trump&#8217;s protectionist practices, which are a tailwind for export-oriented economies, including Taiwan.

Chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Should See Business Grow 20% Fueled By AI Demand: Analyst

On Thursday, Italian startup iGenius announced partnering with Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) to build a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.igenius.ai/press-releases/ai-supercomputer-colosseum" rel="noreferrer noopener">massive data center</a> in southern Italy by mid-2025. The center will feature close to 80 of Nvidia&#8217;s advanced servers.
iGenius aims to develop open-source AI solutions for secure industries, including financial services, healthcare, and the public sector, leveraging Nvidia&#8217;s software tools.

iGenius is building a data center to accommodate 80 of Nvidia&#8217;s most powerful servers, called GB200 NVL72 machines, each with 72 of Nvidia&#8217;s Blackwell chips in them, Reuters reports.
iGenius CEO Uljan Sharka told Reuters that the European AI startup, valued at over $1 billion, has raised&nbsp;650 million euros&nbsp;so far in 2024 and is taking on additional capital for the AI computing system, &#8220;Colosseum.&#8221;
The iGenius Colosseum supercomputer features&nbsp;Nvidia DGX GB200&nbsp;systems containing thousands of Nvidia Grace Blackwell Superchips.
iGenius will use the Colosseum supercomputer to build advanced AI applications, including training open-source generative AI and trillion-plus-parameter large language models.
The Colosseum will be located in Europe and features liquid cooling.
It will likely deliver 115 exaflops of computational performance, powered by renewable energy from Italy.
Colosseum will collaborate with Nvidia to develop AI models to support financial consulting, patient services, and government planning.
Built with the&nbsp;Nvidia AI Enterprise&nbsp;software platform, Nvidia Nemotron models, and the&nbsp;Nvidia NeMo&nbsp;framework, the iGenius AI models will be offered as&nbsp;Nvidia NIM&nbsp;microservices.
iGenius plans to offer customers the option to deploy the models and microservices as fully managed applications, including cloud-based or on-premises Nvidia accelerated computing.
Blackwell chips are Nvidia&#8217;s most eagerly awaited graphics processing units (GPUs). Oppenheimer&nbsp;analyst Rick Schafer projected <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42336825/nvidia-could-become-taiwan-semis-3rd-us-plant-customer" rel="noreferrer noopener">several billion dollars</a> in revenue from Blackwell for the January quarter.
Schafer flagged investors modeling 5 million—6 million Blackwell GPUs in 2025.
Reportedly, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSM#NYSE">TSM</a>) is <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42336825/nvidia-could-become-taiwan-semis-3rd-us-plant-customer" rel="noreferrer noopener">weighing production</a> of the front-end process of Blackwell chips at its Arizona plant.
Nvidia stock is up over 201% year-to-date due to the AI frenzy. AI Startup iGenius Taps Nvidia For AI Data Center In Italy Leveraging Blackwell Chips

Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>), along with other chip stocks, are trading higher Wednesday in sympathy with Marvell Technology, Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MRVL#NASDAQ">MRVL</a>) bearing testimony to the interconnectivity of the semiconductor ecosystem.
On Tuesday, Marvell reported upbeat third-quarter results. The quarterly revenue grew 7% to $1.52 billion, topping the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/12/42302752/marvell-technology-stock-climbs-after-better-than-expected-q3-results-strong-q4-guidance" rel="noreferrer noopener">consensus estimate of $1.46 billion</a>.

This demonstrates the growing demand for the company&#8217;s custom artificial intelligence silicon programs. EPS of 43 cents surpassed the analyst consensus estimate of 41 cents.
Marvell expects fourth-quarter revenue of $1.8 billion, plus or minus 5%, compared to the $1.65 billion consensus estimate. The company projected an EPS of 59 cents, plus or minus five cents, versus the 52-cent estimate.
Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AVGO#NASDAQ">AVGO</a>) and Arm Holdings plc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ARM#NASDAQ">ARM</a>) stocks traded higher on Wednesday.
The semiconductor sector also received a boost from Amazon.Com Inc&#8217;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>) artificial intelligence offerings, which the company showcased at its latest annual event.

Amazon introduced the&nbsp;Nova models, which generate text, images, and video.
Additionally, the semiconductor sector is also trying to gauge the repercussions of the Biden administration&#8217;s third <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42289269/taiwan-semiconductor-supplier-asml-remains-unscathed-from-bidens-latest-semiconductor-embargo-on-china" rel="noreferrer noopener">semiconductor sanctions against China</a>, which prompted some chip companies to introspect their outlook.

It is worth reminding that you cannot take advantage of new upcoming opportunities if you are not holding enough cash.&nbsp; When adjusting hedge levels, consider adjusting partial stop quantities for stock positions (non ETF); consider using wider stops on remaining quantities and also allowing more room for high beta stocks.&nbsp; High beta stocks are the ones that move more than the market.

Probability based risk reward adjusted for inflation does not favor long duration strategic bond allocation at this time.
Those who want to stick to traditional 60% allocation to stocks and 40% to bonds may consider focusing on only high quality bonds and bonds of five year duration or less.&nbsp; Those willing to bring sophistication to their investing may consider using bond ETFs as tactical positions and not strategic positions at this time.
