Rivian Automotive Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RIVN#NASDAQ">RIVN</a>) shares are trading higher Friday as investors reacted to a series of expansion initiatives and product updates <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/large-cap/25/07/46449975/rivian-unseats-lucid-draftkings-ousts-plug-power-in-russell-1000-shake-up">from the electric vehicle maker.</a>
What To Know: On Tuesday, Rivian confirmed it will establish an East Coast headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. The new office, set to open in late 2025, will serve as a complement to Rivian's $5 billion manufacturing facility under construction in Social Circle, Georgia. The Atlanta headquarters is expected to employ around 100 people by the end of next year, with the workforce growing to about 500 as operations ramp up.
Rivian also recently broke ground on a new service center in Laval, Québec, in partnership with Montoni Group. The center, aimed at improving after-sales service in the Canadian market, will be built by local partners and is part of Rivian's broader North American expansion strategy.
Rivian, earlier this week, also announced a<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/07/46425563/tesla-rival-rivians-custom-google-maps-is-here"> new in-car navigation system </a>developed in collaboration with Google, integrating Google Maps' Auto SDK. The system aims to enhance the EV driving experience with better route planning, energy monitoring and smart charging features. Rivian said its revamped Energy app now offers more detailed tracking of energy consumption and charging behavior. A Smart Charging feature will roll out later this month and bidirectional charging is planned for 2025.
<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/07/46385263/tesla-rival-rivian-could-lose-a-major-revenue-stream-due-to-a">Despite these developments</a>, Rivian continues to face broader industry pressures. The company reaffirmed its full-year delivery guidance of 40,000 to 46,000 vehicles after reporting 10,661 deliveries in the second quarter. However, policy changes under former President Donald Trump's administration could impact a key revenue source. New legislation may weaken Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards, reducing demand for Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) credits that Rivian sells to traditional automakers. In 2024, Rivian reportedly generated $325 million from ZEV credit sales.
Year-to-date, Rivian shares remain down about 4%, trailing the Nasdaq Composite's 8% gain. The stock showed strength Tuesday as investors responded positively to the company's ongoing efforts to expand its footprint and enhance product offerings, even amid regulatory and market headwinds.

Note the following:

<li>The chart shows how the important Trump-Powell drama played out and provides a valuable tell for the stock market.</li>
<li>The chart shows when the news broke that President Trump had written a draft letter firing Fed Chair Powell and had shown the letter to Republican lawmakers.</li>
<li>The chart shows that the stock market immediately tumbled.</li>
<li>The chart shows when President Trump backtracked.</li>
<li>The chart shows that when President Trump backtracked, the stock market immediately moved up.</li>
<li>President Trump stated, "I don't rule anything out, but I think it's highly unlikely, unless he has to leave for fraud." Adding to the possibility, Trump said, "It's possible there's fraud involved."  In our analysis, President Trump is trying to use the cost overrun in Fed building renovations as an excuse. President Trump has not been a fan of Powell, sharing, "He's a terrible Fed chief. I was surprised he was appointed."  Prudent investors remember that President Trump is the one who initially appointed Fed Chair Powell and was later nominated for a second term by President Biden.</li>
<li>There are the important tells from the chart: 
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>The VUD indicator, the most sensitive measure of supply and demand in real time, did not turn orange even when the stock market was rapidly dropping.&nbsp; Orange indicates a net supply of stocks, and green indicates a net demand for stocks.</li>
<li>For the rest of the day, the VUD indicator stayed mostly green, indicating net demand for stocks.</li>
<li>The price action on the chart shows that subsequent to President Trump's denial, the market went higher compared to where it was when the news broke of President Trump's draft letter firing Fed Chair Powell.</li>
<li>The sum total of the foregoing is that overall, the prospect of Fed Chair Powell being fired and the Fed losing its independence did not concern the stock market.</li>
<li>If it was not for the extreme bullishness in the stock market right now and dominance of the momo crowd, the stock market would have continued to go down even after President Trump's denial.&nbsp; The reason is rather simple – in all developed countries, central banks are independent; only in the third world countries do presidents fire central bank chiefs and have central banks do presidents&#8217; bidding.&nbsp; Prudent investors should note a Fed Chair has never been fired in U.S. history.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>In our analysis, here are the reasons behind the stock market's response: 
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>The momo crowd aggressively bought the dip.&nbsp; The momo crowd does not do deep analysis and does not understand the implications.&nbsp; The momo crowd simply has stars in their eyes and buys every time the stock market dips.</li>
<li>Smart money is split.&nbsp; Smart money recognizes President Trump firing Fed Chair Powell will be a big negative in the long term but in the short term a new Trump appointee will significantly lower interest rates and drive the stock market higher.</li>
<li>In our analysis, in the past, Fed Chair Powell enjoyed great support from both Republicans and Democrats.  However, now Powell is losing support from both Democrats and Republicans.  The reason is that Washington has now become a totally polarized place.  Powell tries to stay politically neutral although President Trump accuses him of being political and previously helping out President Biden.  In Washington, there is no place for a person who is trying to do a good job without being influenced by politics.</li>
<li>In our analysis, as damaging as it would be for the U.S. Federal Reserve to become similar to the central banks in third world countries, there is merit to President Trump's idea of a golden age.  As AI becomes more pervasive, the economy will become more efficient and as such lower interest rates may be in order.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>President Trump appears to have persuaded Coca-Cola Co (KO) to use real sugar for drinks sold in the United States.  This is a big change, as long ago both food and beverage industries mostly switched over from real sugar to high-fructose corn syrup.  The reason is that high-fructose corn syrup is cheaper than sugar.  Prudent investors should note an increase in sugar demand will require more sugar imports.  A change is happening here and investors need to get ahead of the change.  This may turn out to be stage 1 of a high alpha generating moment.  Please <a href="https://thearorareport.com/ppp-long-trade-ppp">click here </a>to see the five stages of a long trade, and please <a href="https://thearorareport.com/five-stages-of-a-short-trade-ppp">click here</a> to see the five stages of a short trade.</li>
<li>As full disclosure, on the Coca-Cola news, so far we gave three signals.

<li>We have given a signal to buy the sugar ETF Teucrium Sugar Fund (CANE).  The signal is in our ZYX Allocation.</li>
<li>We have given a signal to short sell Ingredion Inc (INGR).  INGR is a major high-fructose corn syrup producer.</li>
<li>A call was made to take profits on the agricultural products company Archer-Daniels-Midland Co (ADM).  ADM is a producer of high-fructose corn syrup.  When the signal was given, ADM was trading at $53.62.  Later on in the aftermarket, ADM fell as low as $49.50 but has since then recovered to $52.25 as of this writing.</li>
<li>More signals will be coming.</li>

<li>Taiwan Semicndctr Mnufctrng Co Ltd (TSM) reported earnings better than the consensus and the whisper numbers.  TSM earnings are important for two reasons: 
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>TSM manufactures advanced AI chips for NVIDIA Corp (NVDA) and Advanced Micro Devices Inc (AMD).  TSM also manufactures chips for Apple Inc (AAPL) iPhones.</li>
<li>Good earnings from TSM come right after lower projections from the most important semiconductor manufacturing company ASML Holding NV (ASML).  Please see <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/07/46446650/bank-of-america-contradicts-consumer-weakness-stock-buying-on-ppi-important-semiconductor-data">yesterday's Morning Capsule</a>.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Initial jobless claims came at 221K vs. 230K consensus.&nbsp; This indicates that the jobs picture remains strong, at least for the time being.</li>
<li>Among important earnings, Netflix Inc (NFLX) and Interactive Brokers Group, Inc. (IBKR) will report earnings after the close.</li>
</ul>
<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Magnificent Seven Money Flows</h4>
In the early trade, money flows are positive in  Apple (AAPL), Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN), Meta Platforms Inc (META), Nvidia (NVDA), Microsoft Corp (MSFT), and Tesla (TSLA).
In the early trade, money flows are negative in Alphabet Inc Class C (GOOG).
In the early trade, money flows are positive in S&amp;P 500 ETF (SPY) and Invesco QQQ Trust Series 1 (QQQ).
<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Momo Crowd And Smart Money In Stocks</h4>
Investors can gain an edge by knowing money flows in SPY and QQQ.  Investors can get a bigger edge by knowing when smart money is buying stocks, gold, and oil.  The most popular ETF for gold is SPDR Gold Trust (GLD).  The most popular ETF for silver is iShares Silver Trust (SLV).  The most popular ETF for oil is United States Oil ETF (USO).

It is important for investors to look ahead and not in the rearview mirror.  Our proprietary Protection Band puts all of the data, all of the indicators, all of the news, all of the crosscurrents, all of the models, and all of the analysis in an analytical framework that is easily actionable by investors.
Consider continuing to hold good, very long term, existing positions. Based on individual risk preference, consider a protection band consisting of cash or Treasury bills or short-term tactical trades as well as short to medium term hedges and short term hedges. This is a good way to protect yourself and participate in the upside at the same time.
You can determine your protection bands by adding cash to hedges.&nbsp; The high band of the protection is appropriate for those who are older or conservative. The low band of the protection is appropriate for those who are younger or aggressive.&nbsp; If you do not hedge, the total cash level should be more than stated above but significantly less than cash plus hedges.
A protection band of 0% would be very bullish and would indicate full investment with 0% in cash.&nbsp; A protection band of 100% would be very bearish and would indicate a need for aggressive protection with cash and hedges or aggressive short selling.
It is worth reminding that you cannot take advantage of new upcoming opportunities if you are not holding enough cash.&nbsp; When adjusting hedge levels, consider adjusting partial stop quantities for stock positions (non ETF); consider using wider stops on remaining quantities and also allowing more room for high beta stocks.&nbsp; High beta stocks are the ones that move more than the market.
<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Traditional 60/40 Portfolio</h4>
Probability based risk reward adjusted for inflation does not favor long duration strategic bond allocation at this time.
Those who want to stick to traditional 60% allocation to stocks and 40% to bonds may consider focusing on only high quality bonds and bonds of five year duration or less.&nbsp; Those willing to bring sophistication to their investing may consider using bond ETFs as tactical positions and not strategic positions at this time.

For investors in Bitcoin or those on the sidelines, the good news is the price could keep going up according to Ark Invest CEO Cathie Wood. 
Here's a look at Wood's predictions for Bitcoin in 2030 and how much a small investment today could be worth if she's right.
Following Wood Into Bitcoin: Wood has been a vocal bull for the cryptocurrency sector<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/crypto/cryptocurrency/25/06/46087464/bitcoins-400x-rise-aside-cathie-wood-says-the-next-exciting-leg-is-just-beginning"> for years,</a> specifically for Bitcoin.
Ark Invest has updated its price targets for Bitcoin several times, with most of the prices significantly higher than where Bitcoin trades today.
Earlier this year, Ark <a href="https://www.ark-invest.com/articles/valuation-models/arks-bitcoin-price-target-2030">updated </a>its Bitcoin price targets with increased optimism for the sector. The new price targets are $500,000 for the bear case, $1,200,000 for the base case and $2,400,000 for the bull case for the year 2030. Those targets replaced existing price targets of $300,000, $710,000 and $1,500,000, respectively.
Wood <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/03/37902973/cathie-wood-says-bitcoin-could-skyrocket-to-3-8m-by-2030-thanks-to-institutional-gr">also previously said </a>that Bitcoin could reach $3,800,000 by 2030 if companies allocated 5% to Bitcoin.
With Bitcoin trading at $118,753.54 at the time of writing, an investor could buy 0.00084 BTC today with $100. Here is a look at how much that $100 would be worth in the future under Wood's various price targets:

While there's no guarantee that any of the price targets will hit, the exercise shows how a small investment in cryptocurrency could add up over time.

What&#8217;s Next: Wood has been reiterating high price targets for Bitcoin over the years. In a 2024 CNBC <a href="https://x.com/BitcoinMagazine/status/1857483221857865879" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">interview, </a>Wood highlighted how Ark Invest was early to investing in Bitcoin.
&#8220;We were the first public asset manager to gain exposure to Bitcoin in 2015 at $250,&#8221; Wood said.
Wood said that even with Bitcoin trading around $90,000 at the time, the company believes there is a long way to go.
The fund manager said that getting regulatory relief with a new administration is one of the most important things for Bitcoin. Wood also sees Bitcoin being viewed as a new asset class, leading to more institutions and asset allocators wanting to invest in the top cryptocurrency.
In the May update, Ark said institutional investors, Bitcoin viewed as a safe haven, nations buying Bitcoin and a rise in companies making Bitcoin part of their treasuries were factored into the new price targets.
Wood's Ark Invest&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/01/36605838/ark-invest-ceo-cathie-wood-projects-a-single-bitcoin-could-be-worth-1-5m-by-2020-probabili" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">was also one of several companies&nbsp;</a>to have a Bitcoin ETF approved by the SEC with its&nbsp;Ark 21 Shares Bitcoin ETF&nbsp;ARKB.
Wood&#8217;s $3.8 million price target might be one of the biggest from a fund manager and among the most bullish bets on cryptocurrency. The target came from the approval and early success of Bitcoin ETFs earlier this year.
"With this institutional green light that the SEC has provided, kicking and screaming though it did, the analysis we've done is that if institutional investors were to allocate a little more than 5% of their portfolios to Bitcoin, as we think they will over time, that alone would add $2.3 million to the projection I just gave you," Wood previously said.
The approval of<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/bitcoin-etf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">&nbsp;the Bitcoin ETFs&nbsp;</a>led Wood to say in an interview that "the probability of the bull case has increased."

Here's How Much Just $100 In Bitcoin Could Be Worth In 2030 If Cathie Wood's Price Target Is Reached

United Airlines Holdings shares are trading higher after the company reported better-than-expected Q2 adjusted EPS results. Also, Barclays maintained an Overweight rating on the stock and raised its price target from $94 to $100.

The combined market capitalization of America's seven largest corporations has now overtaken the entire economic output of China, the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/china">world's second-largest economy</a>.
As of July 17, Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>), Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>), Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>), Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>), Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>), Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>) and Broadcom Inc. This valuation supremacy is fueled by a concentrated wave of investor enthusiasm around artificial intelligence and future cash flow generation. Nvidia alone now holds over $4.2 trillion in market cap, riding a 2024 rally powered by GPU dominance in AI workloads.
Yet, while the headline comparison is striking, it's important to recognize that market capitalization and GDP measure entirely different things. 
One is the total value of a company's stock at a moment in time. The other tracks an entire country's economic output over a year.
One is a stock, the other a flow—so the comparison, while headline-worthy, is not economically sound.
Still, the fact that just seven U.S. companies are now "worth" more than China's entire economy says a lot about how much confidence investors have in American tech.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Comparing Apples to Apples: U.S. vs. China's Top 7 Stocks</h3>
While comparing Wall Street's Big 7 to China's entire GDP generates headlines, a fairer—and more financially sound—comparison pits the largest U.S. companies against the largest Chinese companies by market cap. The result is still striking.
As of July 17, the combined market capitalization of China's seven biggest publicly traded firms stood at just $2.3 trillion, or 12% of the $18.84 trillion total commanded by the U.S. tech titans.
By comparison, Nvidia alone has a market cap of $4.2 trillion, nearly double the value of China's top seven combined.

Wall Street's Big 7 Are Now Bigger Than China's Entire Economy

Boeing Company (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BA#NYSE">BA</a>) is showing signs of steady momentum across its 737 and 787 programs in July, navigating through typical seasonal slowdowns and <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/BA/analyst-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">an initially sluggish start</a>.
Bank of America Securities (BofA) analyst Ronald J. Epstein reiterated a Buy rating on Boeing with a price forecast of $260, expressing confidence in the company&#8217;s delivery and production trajectory.
Epstein points out that while only 10 737s were delivered by mid-July, this aligns with Boeing&#8217;s usual monthly cadence, where activity accelerates in the second half.

This pattern may reflect Boeing&#8217;s strategy of treating the first week as a &#8220;safety week&#8221; to ensure quality control.
Epstein notes a positive shift in activity from China, where two aircraft have been reactivated and more pre-delivery flights are occurring.
This has already led to three deliveries to China in July, with the potential to reach six by month-end.
Given these developments, Epstein projects 737 deliveries to remain solid for the month, projecting at least 30 units, following the company&#8217;s rate of 38 in June.
Although output remains consistent, Epstein cautions that seasonal slowdowns typically seen in July and August could slightly temper overall rollouts this month.
Meanwhile, the 787 program continues to perform well, with four deliveries already completed by mid-July.
Epstein expects total deliveries to reach eight or nine units, potentially matching last month&#8217;s year-to-date high of nine.
On the production side, three 787s have already been rolled out this month, and Epstein anticipates a total of six, in line with Boeing&#8217;s broader plan to transition to a production rate of seven this year.
Price Action: BA shares are trading higher by 0.17% to $230.30 at last check Thursday.
