SMCI Stock Gains Over 3% In Thursday Pre-Market After Short Seller Who Alleged 'Accounting Manipulation' Shuts Shop: Nikola, Block And Carvana Also In Focus

Short-seller Hindenburg Research on Wednesday announced plans to disband the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/hindenburg-research">New York-based investment firm</a>.
&#8220;The plan has been to wind up after we finished the pipeline of ideas we were working on. And as of the last Ponzi cases we just completed and are sharing with regulators, that day is today,&#8221; Hindenburg founder Nate Anderson said in a blog <a href="https://hindenburgresearch.com/gratitude/">post</a>.
What To Know: Anderson founded Hindenburg Research in 2017. The first half of the letter published on Hindenburg&#8217;s site is a reflection on the success of the company and how it came to be. 
&#8220;Nearly 100 individuals have been charged civilly or criminally by regulators at least in part through our work, including billionaires and oligarchs. We shook some empires that we felt needed shaking,&#8221; Anderson said.

About halfway through, Anderson addresses the disbandment, but he said there is no particular reason why. Anderson noted that he felt like he had some things to prove to himself early on, but that he has &#8220;finally found some comfort&#8221; with himself. Anderson also suggested his professional life has taken a toll on his well-being, adding that the &#8220;intensity and focus&#8221; required for the role has come at a cost.
&#8220;Someone once told me that at a certain point a successful career becomes a selfish act,&#8221; he said. 
Anderson said his immediate focus is on finding opportunities for members of the Hindenburg team. Some will be starting their own research firms, while others are seeking different opportunities. 
Anderson also noted he plans to spend the next six months or so working on putting together materials to open-source Hindenburg&#8217;s research model and share how the firm conducted its research so that others may be inspired to do the same.

<li>CES kicks off with a keynote address from Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang today at 6:30pm PST.</li>
<li>Huang is usually positive about the future of Nvidia in his speeches.&nbsp; NVDA stock is running up in anticipation of Huang's keynote address. Prudent investors should pay attention to what Huang says and how he says, as it will likely be market moving.</li>
<li>There is also anticipation around the possible presentation of Nvidia's next gen chip Rubin.</li>
<li>The themes for CES 2025 are artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and robotics.</li>
<li>The momo crowd is aggressively buying.&nbsp; They are focused on AI stocks.</li>
<li>Adding to the buzz around AI today is positive earnings from Foxconn.&nbsp; Foxconn is a supplier for both Apple Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) and Nvidia.&nbsp; Stocks of NVDA, ASML Holding NV (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ASML#NASDAQ">ASML</a>), Taiwan Semiconductor Mfg. Co. Ltd. <h4 class="wp-block-heading">Magnificent Seven Money Flows</h4>
In the early trade, money flows are positive in Amazon.com, Inc., NVDA, MSFT, Alphabet Inc Class C, Meta Platforms Inc, Tesla Inc, and AAPL.
In the early trade, money flows are positive in SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust and Invesco QQQ Trust Series 1.
<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Momo Crowd And Smart Money In Stocks</h4>
Investors can gain an edge by knowing money flows in SPY and QQQ.  Investors can get a bigger edge by knowing when smart money is buying stocks, gold, and oil.  The most popular ETF for gold is SPDR Gold Trust.  The most popular ETF for silver is iShares Silver Trust.  The most popular ETF for oil is United States Oil ETF.
<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Bitcoin</h4>
Bitcoin is range bound.
<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Protection Band And What To Do Now</h4>
It is important for investors to look ahead and not in the rearview mirror.&nbsp; The proprietary protection band from The Arora Report is very popular.&nbsp; The protection band puts all of the data, all of the indicators, all of the news, all of the crosscurrents, all of the models, and all of the analysis in an analytical framework that is easily actionable by investors.
Consider continuing to hold good, very long term, existing positions. Based on individual risk preference, consider a protection band consisting of cash or Treasury bills or short-term tactical trades as well as short to medium term hedges and short term hedges. This is a good way to protect yourself and participate in the upside at the same time.
You can determine your protection bands by adding cash to hedges.&nbsp; The high band of the protection is appropriate for those who are older or conservative. The low band of the protection is appropriate for those who are younger or aggressive.&nbsp; If you do not hedge, the total cash level should be more than stated above but significantly less than cash plus hedges.
A protection band of 0% would be very bullish and would indicate full investment with 0% in cash.&nbsp; A protection band of 100% would be very bearish and would indicate a need for aggressive protection with cash and hedges or aggressive short selling.
It is worth reminding that you cannot take advantage of new upcoming opportunities if you are not holding enough cash.&nbsp; When adjusting hedge levels, consider adjusting partial stop quantities for stock positions (non ETF); consider using wider stops on remaining quantities and also allowing more room for high beta stocks.&nbsp; High beta stocks are the ones that move more than the market.
<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Traditional 60/40 Portfolio</h4>
Probability based risk reward adjusted for inflation does not favor long duration strategic bond allocation at this time.
Those who want to stick to traditional 60% allocation to stocks and 40% to bonds may consider focusing on only high quality bonds and bonds of five year duration or less.&nbsp; Those willing to bring sophistication to their investing may consider using bond ETFs as tactical positions and not strategic positions at this time.

Shares of semiconductor and AI stocks are trading higher in possible reaction to Microsoft's plan to invest approximately $80 billion into AI data center development in fiscal 2025.

U.S. stocks were higher, with the Dow Jones index gaining over 200 points on Monday.
Shares of fuboTV Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FUBO#NYSE">FUBO</a>) rose sharply during Monday's session after the company announced it entered into a definitive agreement for Disney to combine its Hulu with Fubo to form a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/01/42816545/fubotv-and-disney-near-merger-to-create-second-largest-digital-tv-provider-shares-soar-report">virtual MVPD company.</a>
fuboTV shares jumped 140% to $3.4501 on Monday.
Here are some other big stocks recording gains in today's session.

<li>Serve Robotics Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SERV#NASDAQ">SERV</a>) surged 21.7% to $23.18 after the company announced it raised $86 million in funding for December and $167 million for 2024.</li>
<li>Paycor HCM, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PYCR#NASDAQ">PYCR</a>) gained 21.5% to $22.52. Needham analyst Scott Berg reiterated Paycor HCM with a Buy and maintained a $20 price target.</li>
<li>Vuzix Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/VUZI#NASDAQ">VUZI</a>) surged 21.4% to $5.33.</li>
<li>Amprius Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMPX#NYSE">AMPX</a>) rose 19% to $3.9000.</li>
<li>SolarEdge Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SEDG#NASDAQ">SEDG</a>) gained 18.3% to $18.08 after the company revealed plans for 2025 including layoffs of approximately 400 employees and other spending reduction measures.</li>
<li>Ceragon Networks Ltd. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CRNT#NASDAQ">CRNT</a>) rose 16.8% to $5.53.</li>
<li>LanzaTech Global, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LNZA#NASDAQ">LNZA</a>) gained 16% to $1.9500.</li>
<li>Quantum Computing Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QUBT#NASDAQ">QUBT</a>) surged 14% to $19.96.</li>
<li>Super Micro Computer, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SMCI#NASDAQ">SMCI</a>) rose 11% to $36.97.</li>
<li>Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MU#NASDAQ">MU</a>) gained 10.5% to $99.29.</li>
<li>Plug Power Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PLUG#NASDAQ">PLUG</a>) shares rose 10.5% to $2.9100.</li>
<li>BlackBerry Limited (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BB#NYSE">BB</a>) gained 9% to $4.0124.</li>
<li>Rigetti Computing, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RGTI#NASDAQ">RGTI</a>) shares gained 8.8% to $20.71.</li>
<li>Coinbase Global, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/COIN#NASDAQ">COIN</a>) rose 8% to $291.92.</li>
<li>Capri Holdings Limited (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CPRI#NYSE">CPRI</a>) rose 7.9% to $21.88 after BMO Capital upgraded the stock from Market Perform to Outperform and raised its price target from $25 to $31.</li>
<li>Asana, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ASAN#NYSE">ASAN</a>) rose 7.8% to $22.24 after Piper Sandler upgraded the stock from Neutral to Overweight and raised its price target from $19 to $27.</li>
<li>UiPath Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PATH#NYSE">PATH</a>) gained 6.9% to $14.19.</li>
