Kevin O'Leary Says, 'The More People Have My Number, The Less It Rings,' Explaining Why His Number Is Widely Known

Apparently shaken by the fallout from the Hawk (CRYPTO: HAWK) <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/content/42377682/coffeezilla-debunks-misleading-headlines-about-influencer-hailey-welch-and-hawk-memecoin">meme coin crash</a>, social media influencer Haliey Welch, widely known as the &#8220;Hawk Tuah Girl,&#8221; on Friday broke her silence on Friday, addressing the public for the first time since a lawsuit was filed by investors.
Welch, 22, shared a <a href="https://x.com/HalieyWelchX/status/1870123827725840484">statement</a> on microblogging platform X expressing her commitment to uncovering the truth, assisting impacted individuals, and holding those responsible accountable.
"I take this situation extremely seriously and want to address my fans, the investors who have been affected, and the broader community," Welch wrote. She also urged those who experienced losses to contact Burwick Law, the firm representing the plaintiffs.
Blockchain investigator ZachXBT, known for his critical analysis of crypto scams, highlighted prior community warnings about the HAWK coin. 
In a tweet dated Nov. 6, he <a href="https://x.com/zachxbt/status/1870133798374981920">wrote</a>, "We were warned," alongside a screenshot of another user's tweet, which said, "Hawk Tuah girl was gonna do a coin, they assembled KOLs [key opinion leaders] for it, but then it kind of fell apart. They wanted me on supposedly… She's gonna farm us."
The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court in New York, alleges that the HAWK coin team failed to register the token in accordance with securities laws. 
The coin, inspired by Welch's viral &#8220;Hawk Tuah&#8221; catchphrase, launched on Dec. 4 and briefly reached a market cap of $500 million before crashing by 95% within minutes. Investors reportedly lost a combined $151,000 in the rapid downturn.
Named defendants include Tuah The Moon Foundation, the crypto launchpad overHere, its founder Clinton So, and HAWK team member Alexander Larson Shultz, also known as &#8220;Doc Hollywood.&#8221; 
The <a href="https://www.bloomberglaw.com/public/desktop/document/AlbounietalvSchultzetalDocketNo124cv08650EDNYDec192024CourtDocket?doc_id=X72TI5SSOV989POPAQPF24AV7AU">complaint </a>accuses the team of exploiting Welch's popularity to market the token and alleges insider trading and deceptive promotional practices.
The situation has drawn sharp criticism from the crypto community. Blockchain investigator ZachXBT took to Twitter to comment, "Only if you were warned by the entire community prior to launching the token," highlighting concerns about Welch's involvement.
Billionaire investor Mark Cuban, however, defended Welch, stating she was<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/entertainment/24/12/42545829/mark-cuban-expresses-sympathy-for-hawk-tuah-girl-amid-meme-coin-controversy-wasnt-something-she-fully-understood"> likely unaware of the complexities</a> surrounding the project. "It wasn't something she fully understood, but she trusted the people around her," Cuban said during a podcast with Jules Terpak.

He added that while mistakes were made, Welch should not be blamed entirely for the controversy.
Cuban, who has publicly criticized meme coins as a "game of musical chairs with money," reiterated his lack of trust in such projects. 
"There's no there there—it's just hustle," he said, calling for caution in speculative investments.
Shytoshi Kusama, the pseudonymous leader of the Shiba Inu (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/shib/usd">SHIB</a>) ecosystem, also distanced themselves from the project, revealing that Welch's team had approached them to promote the coin, an offer they declined.

The Solana (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/sol/usd">SOL</a>)-based meme coin initially skyrocketed, hitting a valuation of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/entertainment/24/12/42333397/hawk-tuah-girl-accused-of-scamming-crypto-buyers-after-newly-launched-meme-coin-pumps-and-dumps-victims-contemplate-legal-action">$425 million shortly after launch.</a> 
However, the rapid pump-and-dump left investors reeling. Welch, who had earlier denied wrongdoing, stated no free tokens were distributed to anyone in her network. 
On-chain data has yet to substantiate claims of insider trading, but the sudden market crash has raised questions about the token&#8217;s design and promotional strategy.
Welch rose to fame earlier this year for her viral catchphrase &#8220;Hawk Tuah&#8221; during a street interview, which turned her into an internet sensation.

Eric Krueger, CEO of GTN Americas, reflected on how this change has made investing accessible to everyone. "When I started, my first trade was $1,000 worth of Microsoft, and I paid $100 in commission," he said. Today, retail investors can trade seamlessly on mobile apps with zero fees. "The barrier to entry has disappeared."

Stephen Sikes, COO of Public, highlighted how modern retail investors demand more than accessibility. They want real-time pricing, instant alerts, and meaningful tools," Sikes said. Driven by the fast-paced digital age, investors have come to expect information at their fingertips.
Beyond tools, Sikes noted the influence of social media on investor behavior. 
"They're not turning to traditional outlets like CNBC. They're getting their information from influencers and platforms like TikTok," he explained, emphasizing the need for brokerages to adapt to these new trends.
Daniel Pipitone, CEO of TradeZero, stressed the importance of education in addressing this shift. "We focus on working with trusted educators to provide unbiased content," he said. "It's about teaching risk management and smart strategies without giving specific advice."

Sikes shared an example of Public's recent success with its bond account feature. "We had bonds available for eight months, but uptake was minimal," he said. When the company repackaged bonds into a user-friendly format, trading volumes surged. "It's about presenting complex products in ways that are easy to understand."

The panel also explored the global demand for U.S. equities. 
"About 90% of trading volume from our international clients goes into the U.S. market," said Krueger. He attributed this to the strong performance of U.S. companies and the widespread recognition of brands like Tesla and Amazon.
Yoshi Yokokawa, CEO of Alpaca, noted similar trends. "We see a huge appetite for U.S. equities from clients in over 35 countries," he said, adding that platforms are adapting to serve these markets efficiently while keeping costs low.

LONDON, Dec 20 (Reuters) - The owner of TVN Group has begun the process of selling the Polish media broadcaster, four people familiar with the matter told Reuters.
Shareholder Warner Bros Discovery <a href="https://workspace.refinitiv.com/web/apps/quotewebapi?RIC=WBD.O">WBD.O</a> is working with advisers at JPMorgan on the sale of the company, the people said.
The investment bank has been in contact with potential buyers for the asset in recent weeks with sales materials to be distributed early next year, two of the people said.
A spokesperson for Warner Bros Discovery said: "As we evaluate a sale of TVN, we will prioritise its independent news status."
JPMorgan declined to comment, while TVN Group referred requests for comment to Warner Bros Discovery.
TVN Group, which includes 24-hour news channels TVN24 and TVN24BiS, could be valued at above 1 billion euros ($1.04 billion) in a sale, two other people said. The four people were speaking on condition of anonymity because the matter was private.
The Polish government last week said it had decided to add several media and telecommunication firms, including TVN, to its list of strategic companies. This means that a takeover of these companies will not be possible without the government's consent, the country's prime minister <a href="reuters://REALTIME/verb=NewsStory/ric=nL8N3NJ0ZW">said</a>.
Warner Bros Discovery is targeting domestic and international media groups as possible buyers for TVN Group, the first two people said.
U.S. media group Scripps Networks <a href="reuters://REALTIME/verb=NewsStory/ric=nKBN0MC0BY">bought</a> a majority stake in TVN Group in 2015 for $615.3 million, valuing the business at 1.8 billion dollars at the time, and <a href="reuters://REALTIME/verb=NewsStory/ric=nW8N10P004">bought</a> the rest of the business later that year.
The company was brought into the Warner Brothers Discovery group after Warner Brother's 2022 merger with the Discovery Channel, which owned Scripps.
Warner Bros Discovery earlier this month <a href="reuters://REALTIME/verb=NewsStory/ric=nL4N3ND0YT">decided</a> to separate its declining cable TV businesses, including CNN, from its streaming and studio operations. Under the new structure for Warner Bros Discovery, the cable TV business including TNT, Animal Planet and CNN will be housed in a unit called Global Linear Networks.
TVN Group revenues grew to 2.26 billion zlotys in 2023 from 2.14 billion zlotys ($522.01 million) a year earlier, due to higher advertising and subscriptions revenues, according to company filings in Poland. Net profit was 419.7 million zlotys, up from 331.8 million zlotys in 2022.

"The Fed's preferred inflation gauge came in lower than expected, which may take some of the sting out of the market's disappointment with the Fed's interest rate announcement on Wednesday," Larkin said.&nbsp;

Markets do appear to be celebrating the report with all major indices in the green. The SPDR S&amp;P 500 (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>), tracking the S&amp;P 500, is up 1.7% at $594.40 and the Invesco QQQ Trust (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>), tracking the Nasdaq 100 index, is up 1.8% at $523.54 at the time of publication. 
Joe Brusuelas, chief economist at RSM US, sees it as "increasingly likely" that the economy accelerated in the current quarter, which would lead to concerns about inflation accelerating and a more hawkish stance from the Federal Reserve. 
"Given the fact that we are almost certain to see an increase in service prices and rents at the turn of the year expect more cautious language at the Fed which clearly thinks policy has shifted into a new phase that is going to focus on price stability over employment in 2025," Brusuelas said.&nbsp;
