Revenue grew by&nbsp;1%&nbsp;year over year (Y/Y) to&nbsp;$3.13 billion, missing the consensus of $3.15 billion.
Operating revenue grew 2% Y/Y to $2.6 billion aided by prior year acquisition and contractual revenue growth in Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) and Fleet Management Solutions (FMS).
Revenue from FMS dipped 1% Y/Y to $1.45 billion&nbsp;due to decline in fuel costs passed through to customers.
SCS rose&nbsp;2% Y/Y to&nbsp;$1.33 billion&nbsp;as growth in operating revenue was led by new business and higher customer volumes.
Dedicated Transportation Solutions upped 7% Y/Y to&nbsp;$602 million, reflecting the prior year&#8217;s acquisition completed in February 2024.
Adjusted EPS of&nbsp;$2.46 beat the&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/earnings" rel="noreferrer noopener">analyst consensus estimate of&nbsp;$2.41</a>.
Operating cash flow from continuing operations for the quarter was $651 million, with a free cash flow (non-GAAP)&nbsp;of&nbsp;$259&nbsp;million. Ryder System held&nbsp;$151 million in cash and equivalents as of March 31.
Ryder System CEO Robert Sanchez said, &#8220;We remain on track to achieve expected benefits in 2025 from strategic initiatives that are well underway. These benefits include our lease pricing initiative, savings from our multi-year maintenance initiative, realization of acquisition synergies, and optimization of our omnichannel retail network.&#8221;
Outlook: Ryder now expects 2025 operating revenue growth and total revenue growth guidance of ~1% each.
The company lowered the fiscal 2025 adjusted EPS outlook to $12.85-$13.60 from $13.00-$14.00 (versus the consensus of $13.17). It expects operating cash flow of $2.5 billion and free cash flow (non-GAAP) of positive $375 million &#8211; $475 million.
For&nbsp;the&nbsp;second quarter, Ryder expects adjusted EPS of&nbsp;$3.00-$3.25, compared to&nbsp;the&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance" rel="noreferrer noopener">consensus of&nbsp;$3.31</a>.
CFO Cristina Gallo-Aquino says Ryder&#8217;s revised 2025 forecast assumes &#8220;a more muted economic environment&#8221; that will impact demand for its rental business.
&#8220;We have also increased our free cash flow forecast to reflect lower capital spending,&#8221; Gallo-Aquino adds. We expect the execution of our initiatives and the strength of our contractual businesses to continue to drive earnings growth this year.&#8221;

A hotter-than-expected inflation report initially rattled markets on Wednesday morning, but investors found confidence to buy the dip, helping major indexes recover most losses by <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/regulations/25/02/43656846/inflation-rises-more-than-expected-in-january-chills-interest-rate-cut-hopes">midday trading in New York.</a>
The S&amp;P 500 was down 0.2%, while the Nasdaq 100 was flat, both rebounding from sharp declines following the January Consumer Price Index report. Small-cap stocks underperformed, with the Russell 2000 slipping 0.8%.
The headline CPI rose 3% year over year in January, surpassing both December's 2.9% reading and economist forecasts of 2.9%. On a monthly basis, inflation increased 0.5%, outpacing expectations of 0.3% and accelerating from December's 0.4% gain. This marked the fastest monthly inflation rate since August 2023.
Core inflation, which excludes food and energy, climbed to 3.3% year over year from 3.2% in December. On a monthly basis, core CPI increased 0.4%, exceeding estimates of 0.3% and doubling December's 0.2% rise.
Treasuries and interest rate markets reacted sharply to the inflation data. Traders scaled back expectations for Federal Reserve rate cuts, now projecting only one reduction by December 2025.
Treasury yields surged, reflecting heightened investor uncertainty. The 10-year Treasury yield jumped 10 basis points to 4.64%. The iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TLT#NASDAQ">TLT</a>) fell 1%.
Despite rising Treasury yields and a stronger dollar, gold edged up 0.2% to $2,910 per ounce. Oil prices dropped 2% after reports that Donald Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin, fueling speculation about a potential ceasefire in Ukraine.
Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) also rebounded from earlier session losses.

Revenue from Fleet Management Solutions remained firm at $1.49 billion as lease earnings growth more than offset headwinds in rental and used vehicle sales, Supply Chain Solutions rose 3% to $1.34 billion backed by higher volumes and optimization efforts in its omnichannel retail vertical and Dedicated Transportation Solutions jumped 39% to $615 million reflecting strong performance in its legacy business and the Cardinal acquisition.

Ryder System (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/R#NYSE">R</a>) reported quarterly earnings of $3.45 per share which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $3.38 by 2.07 percent. This is a 16.95 percent increase over earnings of $2.95 per share from the same period last year. The company reported quarterly sales of $3.19 billion which missed the analyst consensus estimate of $3.31 billion by 3.69 percent. This is a 5.49 percent increase over sales of $3.02 billion the same period last year.
