The TJX Companies, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TJX#NYSE">TJX</a>) will release its first-quarter earnings results before the opening <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/tjx/earnings">bell on Wednesday, May 22.</a>
Analysts expect the Framingham, Massachusetts-based company to report quarterly earnings at 91 cents per share. That's down from 93 cents per share in the year-ago period. TJX Gears Up For Q1 Print; Here Are The Recent Forecast Changes From Wall Street's Most Accurate Analysts

Economist Justin Wolfers is once again directing criticism at President Donald Trump, this time taking aim at the administration's sweeping tax and spending bill, which Trump has described as &#8220;one big, beautiful bill.&#8221;
What Happened: Speaking on the TheRickWilson podcast on Tuesday, Wolfers said the current budget being debated includes deep cuts to social safety nets like Medicare and Medicaid, while preserving or expanding benefits for the ultra-wealthy.
&#8220;This one seems to bundle up a whole bunch of things that are going to cause social cost and economic cost to a lot of people,&#8221; he says, adding that it is &#8220;stacked towards the upper end of the upper end of the upper end of the economic food chain.&#8221;

The University of Michigan professor later emphasized the kind of impact this type of fiscal policy will have on everyday Americans. &#8220;If you drove yourself to work, you're one of the people who's probably going to get less out of this,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It's just pure reverse Robin Hood.&#8221;
Wolfers argues that budgets aren&#8217;t just economic plans, but rather a &#8220;statement of values&#8221; and ultimately a &#8220;moral statement.&#8221; Referring to the cuts made to Medicare and Medicaid, he says, &#8220;If your values are that you don't want to make sure poor people have health insurance, that's your statement.&#8221;
The economist also warned that the budget's structure could validate recent concerns about U.S. creditworthiness, pointing to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/25/05/45484954/treasury-secretary-bessent-addresses-moodys-downgrade-and-tariff-impact-n-walmart">Moody's downgrade</a> as a rational response to persistent fiscal instability. 
Rising bond yields will increase borrowing costs significantly, Wolfers says, &#8220;a small percent times a humongous number is a very large number.&#8221;
Why It Matters: Other prominent economists have since weighed in on this bill, echoing similar views. Craig Shapiro posted on X, saying that the bill &#8220;will explode the deficit while enriching the highest decile of Americans at the expense of the lowest decile.&#8221;

<li>Palo Alto Networks Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PANW#NASDAQ">PANW</a>) posted better-than-expected earnings for its third quarter on Tuesday. The company also raised its full-year 2025 guidance. The company now expects full-year revenue of $9.17 billion to $9.19 billion, up from prior guidance of $9.14 billion to $9.19 billion. The company now anticipates full-year adjusted earnings of $3.26 to $3.28 per share, up from prior guidance of $3.18 to $3.24 per share, per Benzinga Pro. Palo Alto shares fell 3.9% to $186.92 in the after-hours trading session.</li>

Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) CEO Elon Musk believes Tesla owners would be able to add their vehicles to the company's fleet of self-driving cars, as he says no to any potential deal with Uber Technologies Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UBER#NYSE">UBER</a>).
What Happened: "We have millions of cars that will be able to operate autonomously. And I should say that it&#8217;s a combination of a Tesla-owned fleet and also enabling Tesla owners to be able to add or subtract their car to the fleet," Musk said in an <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/video/2025/05/20/tesla-ceo-elon-musk-theres-no-need-for-tesla-to-buy-uber.html">interview</a> with CNBC's David Faber.
Musk believes that it could be a mix of Uber and Airbnb Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ABNB#NASDAQ">ABNB</a>), where Tesla owners could add their cars to the autonomous fleet and earn money.
"Tesla has all the ingredients necessary to offer a vast self-driving fleet, overnight," Musk said in the interview, reiterating the company's FSD technology's capabilities.
Why It Matters: The interview and Musk's comments outlined the billionaire's vision for the company's future, which focuses heavily on FSD and autonomous driving.
Musk also shared that next month's <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/05/45529030/elon-musk-confirms-tesla-robotaxi-launch-is-on-track-for-next-month-these-things-happen-slowly-but-then-all-at-once">Robotaxi launch in Austin</a> is going ahead as planned and could be ramped up to over 1,000 vehicles within the next few months and hundreds of thousands by the end of next year, "if not a million," he said.

We expect new cohort strength to continue and drive top-line growth acceleration in 2H as additional cohorts layer on throughout the year.
While we are encouraged by our strong Q1 results and robust top of funnel, we are maintaining full year bookings outlook of $2,025 - 2,060 million, up 11-13% y/y. This reflects conservatism due to macro uncertainty, specifically in our Business Solutions segment, with potential volatility offset by fully dissipating FX headwinds.
With these same considerations, we are also maintaining our full year revenue outlook of $1,970 - 2,000 million, up 12-14% y/y.
We expect total revenue in Q2 2025 to be $485 - 489 million, up 11-12% y/y.
For the full year 2025, we continue to expect non-GAAP total gross margin of ~70% and non-GAAP operating expenses to be 47-48% of revenue for the full year.
We continue to expect to generate free cash flow of $590 - 610 million, or ~30-31% of revenue.
As a result, we remain on track to achieve Rule of 45 in 2025 at the high end of our outlook.

JPMorgan Chase &amp; Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JPM#NYSE">JPM</a>) CEO Jamie Dimon, who correctly flagged trouble before the 2008 Lehman Brothers collapse, is now cautioning that Wall Street&#8217;s expectations for S&amp;P 500, tracked by SPDR S&amp;P 500 (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) earnings growth could plummet from 12% to 0% as tariff impacts ripple through the economy.
What Happened: &#8220;I think earnings estimates will come down, which means PE [Price-to-Earnings&nbsp;ratio] will come down,&#8221; Dimon said at the bank&#8217;s annual investor day, suggesting equity valuations face downward pressure. He described current asset prices as &#8220;kind of high&#8221; while credit spreads remain &#8220;kind of low.&#8221;

Since taking the helm in 2005, Dimon has led JPMorgan to a total return of 1,012%, including dividends, surpassing the S&amp;P 500's 596% gain and even outpacing the Nasdaq's 971% rise.
