QIAGEN N.V. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QGEN#NYSE">QGEN</a>, Frankfurt Prime Standard: QIA))) today announced that its Supervisory Board has elected Stephen H. Rusckowski as Chairman following the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) on June 26, 2025.
He succeeds Lawrence A. Rosen, who did not stand for re-election after serving for 12 years on the Supervisory Board. The Dutch Corporate Governance Code indicates that Directors of public companies should not serve more than 12 years for a company on their Supervisory Board.
At the AGM, where 80.4% of QIAGEN's issued shares were represented, shareholders approved all proposed resolutions, including the initiation of an annual cash dividend and a new share repurchase authorization of up to $500 million.
Additionally, Prof. Dr. Elaine Mardis stepped down from the Supervisory Board after deciding not to stand for re-election. Prof. Dr. Mardis brought important scientific expertise to the Board since 2014, especially through her service on the Science &amp; Technology and Human Resources &amp; Compensation Committees.
Following the AGM, QIAGEN's Supervisory Board now consists of eight members, reflecting the implementation of a plan announced in 2024 to return to a size consistent with historical levels and continuing to represent all the necessary expertise to support the future development of QIAGEN in a highly effective manner.
The AGM approved the re-appointment for one-year terms of the following Board members: Dr. Metin Colpan, Dr. Toralf Haag, Prof. Dr. Ross L. Levine, Mr. Bert van Meurs, Ms. Eva van Pelt, Dr. Eva Pisa, Ms. Elizabeth Tallett and Mr. Stephen H. Rusckowski.
Shareholders also approved the initiation of QIAGEN's first-ever annual cash dividend - a milestone that reflects QIAGEN's strong financial position and disciplined capital allocation strategy, which includes dividends in addition to organic investments, value-creating acquisitions and share repurchases.
The first dividend payment will be $0.25 per ordinary share, totaling approximately $54 million, with a record and ex-date of July 2, 2025, and payment date of July 10, 2025.
In addition, the AGM approved a new synthetic share repurchase authorization of up to $500 million, reinforcing QIAGEN's commitment to returning capital to shareholders while preserving financial flexibility to invest in innovation and long-term growth.

A new film about Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>) is in the works. Here's why Meta CEO<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/mark-zuckerberg"> Mark Zuckerberg</a> might not be happy about seeing his company on the big screen.
What Happened: A sequel to the 2010 film "The Social Network," which Zuckerberg <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/21/10/23381351/5-things-you-might-not-know-about-facebooks-mark-zuckerberg-2">was highly critical of</a>, is in the works.
Tentatively titled "The Social Network Part II," the film comes from the Sony Group Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SONY#NYSE">SONY</a>) unit of Sony Pictures, according to a report from <a href="https://deadline.com/2025/06/the-social-network-sequel-aaron-sorkin-1236439539/">Deadline</a>. According to the report, the film will not be a straight sequel, but rather a follow-up to the first film.
Aaron Sorkin, who wrote the screenplay for the first film, is returning to write the screenplay and direct the film. David Fincher, who directed the first film, is not mentioned in the report on the sequel.
While the first film was based on the book "The Accidental Millionaires" by Ben Mezrich, the new movie will focus on the story "The Facebook Files" from the Wall Street Journal. That story exposed the inner workings of Facebook and the potential harm it has done.
Sorkin has been vocal about wanting to do a follow-up to the hit 2010 movie; now it appears he&#8217;s found his angle with "The Facebook Files."
The writer and director also said in an interview last year that he believes Facebook played a role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. The new film won't focus solely on Jan. 6 or the 2020 election. It will also examine the potential harmful impact of Facebook on teenagers and preteens.
Todd Black, Peter Rice, Stuart Besser and Sorkin will produce the film. A production date has not been announced, with Sorkin likely working on casting first.
It is unknown if Jesse Eisenberg, who played Zuckerberg in the 2010 film, will return for the follow-up movie.

Why It's Important: The 2010 film focused on the early days of Facebook&#8217;s creation. It examined several disputes, including those between Zuckerberg and key figures in the company&#8217;s early days, such as the Winklevoss twins and Eduardo Saverin.
Zuckerberg has criticized that film on several occasions, saying it had many inaccuracies.
"It's interesting what stuff they focused on getting right; like, every single shirt and fleece that I had in that movie is actually a shirt or fleece that I own. So there's all this stuff that they got wrong and a bunch of random details that they got right," Zuckerberg said.
Zuckerberg may be even more concerned about the second movie as it will center on a report that sheds a negative light on the social media company.
"The Social Network" grossed $97 million domestically and $225 million globally, according to BoxOfficeMojo.
The film won three Academy Awards for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing and Best Original Score. The film was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including top categories like Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor for Eisenberg.
Meta Platforms&#8217; stock is up 233% over the last five years. Shareholders will closely watch the timing of the movie release to see if the film could harm the company's brand and share price.

He might want to look at the stock now, as it has recently hit new all-time highs.
Here's a look back at how much Huang and other investors who bought or owned shares when the company went public have made.
Investing $1,000 in Nvidia at IPO: Nvidia became one of the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/05/32630114/nvidia-becomes-ninth-company-to-hit-1-trillion-market-cap-who-could-be-next-to-join-elusive-club" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">most valuable companies</a>&nbsp;in the world in May 2023, passing the $1 trillion market capitalization level.
Since that time, the company went on to pass the $2 trillion and $3 trillion market capitalization levels. Since its IPO, Nvidia has undergone several stock splits, which have increased the number of shares held by shareholders. The stock had 2:1 splits in 2000, 2001, and 2006, a 3:2 split in 2007, a 4:1 split in July 2021, and the most recent 10:1 split in June 2024.
Today, the original 83.33 shares would total 39,998.4 shares after the stock splits.
The original $1,000 investment in Nvidia stock would be worth $6,214,951.39 based on a share price of $155.38. This represents a huge return for Nvidia IPO buyers with some potential millionaires created over the years.
For comparison, the same $1,000 invested in the&nbsp;SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust&nbsp;(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>), which tracks the S&amp;P 500, would have underperformed Nvidia.
A $1,000 investment in SPY stock could have bought 12.82 shares at the time, based on an adjusted price of $78.03 on Jan. 22, 1999.

Republic, a New York-based investment platform, has started offering <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/space/25/06/46012079/elon-musks-spacex-suffers-major-setback-as-starship-rocket-explodes-in-static-fire-test">tokenized exposure to SpaceX shares</a>, aiming to give retail investors access to private company stakes that were traditionally limited to large, accredited investors.
What Happened: The company's digital tokens, which do not confer direct ownership but provide exposure to share performance, will soon be available for purchase, with plans to expand the offering to other private giants like OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe, X, Waymo, and Epic Games, <a href="https://www.wsj.com/finance/investing/republic-investing-tokens-companies-ipo-ccff7f91?mod=hp_lead_pos5">according</a> to The Wall Street Journal.
Republic co-CEO Andrew Durgee <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/06/25/blockchain-investing-startup-republic-to-allow-users-to-buy-tokenized-spacex-shares.html">told</a> CNBC the initiative is designed to open doors for retail investors who have long been excluded from pre-IPO opportunities.
&#8220;The fact that retail investors couldn't own pre-IPO SpaceX has always been crazy to us," Durgee said, emphasizing the company's focus on assets with broad public interest.
Tokenization in crypto involves creating blockchain-based representations of assets like stocks or commodities. Investors in these tokenized products gain price exposure but do not hold the actual underlying assets.
The announcement comes as the U.S. crypto industry enters a more permissive regulatory climate under President Donald Trump's administration. 
Recent regulatory developments include the SEC dropping enforcement cases against Coinbase (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/COIN#NASDAQ">COIN</a>) and other major crypto players, scaling back crypto enforcement units, and clarifying that meme coins are not securities. 
A new Crypto Task Force is also actively engaging with the industry through policy roundtables.
Durgee noted that the crypto space, once mired in restrictive oversight, is now benefiting from a more supportive environment. 
"We've moved from nothing but headwinds to having industrywide tailwinds," he said.
Republic will allow retail investors to purchase tokenized shares with investments ranging from $50 to $5,000, significantly lowering the usual barriers to entry. 
Private company shares are typically accessible to accredited investors with higher minimum investment thresholds.
The tokens will initially be priced based on secondary market valuations of SpaceX shares.

Why It Matters: The offering raises fresh regulatory questions, including how tokenized private equity aligns with disclosure rules, whether such structures could increase risks to retail investors, and how companies being represented will respond to this method of investment access.
Durgee said companies' approval isn't required for these offerings under the current securities framework, which was built on laws dating back to the 1930s. 
"People will really have to start questioning how they approach these innovations and how far they want to push the risk envelope," he added.
The push toward tokenization is gaining broader institutional interest. Proponents cite benefits like faster settlements, reduced transaction costs, increased transparency, and improved global accessibility for retail participants. 
Coinbase recently announced its intent to seek SEC approval to list tokenized public stocks, potentially expanding its offerings to compete directly with trading platforms like Robinhood (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HOOD#NASDAQ">HOOD</a>) and eToro. 
Kraken has also signaled plans to offer 24/7 tokenized stock trading in international markets.
BlackRock (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BLK#NYSE">BLK</a>) CEO Larry Fink has called the tokenization of financial assets a critical step in transforming financial markets.

More patients treated in the MR-141 arm achieved ≥15-letters ETDRS (≥3-line) gain in DCNVA and with less than five letters of loss in BCDVA at 1-hour post-dose on Day 1 compared to those receiving placebo (p=0.0002).
Significant patient-reported functional benefits at Days 3, 8, and Week 6 were observed, with patients reporting satisfaction with near vision upon awakening (p&lt;0.0001) and satisfaction with their improvement in near vision (p&lt;0.0001).
Patient reported significant improvement in near vision in dim/low light at Days 3, 8 and Week 6 compared with placebo (p&lt;0.0001).
During the 6-week follow-up, no evidence of tachyphylaxis (an acute, sudden decrease in response to a drug) was observed.
MR-141 demonstrated a safety profile consistent with previous trials. No new safety signal was identified, and no treatment-related serious adverse events were reported in this study.

As part of this initiative, the company will:

<li>Exit the molded fiber business and convert the Reno, Nev. facility to support its packaging business</li>
<li>Close its packaging facility in Marion, Ohio</li>
<li>Close its recycling facility in Wichita, Kan.</li>
<li>Sell its containerboard mill in Xalapa, Mexico and its recycling plants in Xalapa and Apodaca, Mexico to Acabados de Papeles Santinados y Absorbentes (APSA).</li>

Energy markets are in a bit of flux at the moment.
Last week, the idea of $120 oil and continued disruption from the Middle East conflict was at the top of expert minds.
This week, we seem to be back to everlasting peace, bliss, everlasting cooperation, rainbows, unicorns, and prosperity for all.
Oil prices have begun falling again, and the same experts who warned of spikes last week now expect to see crude back into the upper 50s.
Here is what I know about crude oil. The market has had a failed rally and is now back below the 50-week moving average by a smidge (highly technical term). Cash prices are opening right at the 200 days moving average.
For now Crude is still in a bearish mode in spite of last week's volatility related to the Iranian difficulties
Hedging volume by US producers soared last week as prices rose. Even as they locked in higher prices for future delivery, many producers were also buying out of the money call options just in case things got a little dodgier in Iran.
Producers were hedging and speculating a bit on a sustained conflict, but there is another group who looked at the price of the energy-related businesses they operate recently and decided that no matter what happened in the Middle East, the price of their stock was just too low.
The High-Yield Play: Mach Natural Resources (Ticker: MACH)
Sometimes the market serves up opportunities that seem almost too good to be true. Mach Natural Resources is one of those situations that demands a closer look, if only because of that eye-popping 15% plus distribution yield.
Mach operates in the Anadarko Basin, focusing on natural gas production across Western Oklahoma, Southern Kansas, and the Texas panhandle. This is not some wildcat exploration story. They are working proven reserves in established fields, which reduces the geological risk that plagues many energy ventures. The company went public in 2023, making it relatively new to the public markets but not new to the business of extracting hydrocarbons from the ground.
What immediately catches your attention is the ownership structure. William Wallace McMullen owns nearly 72% of the company, with Bayou City Energy Management controlling 66% overall.
