Philip Morris has raised the low end of its U.S. ZYN volume outlook for 2024, now expecting 570 to 580 million cans, which is an increase of 10 million at the low end. The analyst estimates a total of 579 million cans, reflecting over 50% growth.
For 2025, the analyst estimates 9.5% EPS growth, driven by 8% organic revenue growth and margin expansion from smoke-free products.
This includes a 10% increase in organic operating profit, supported by volume growth and over 7 percentage points from price/mix contributions.

As far as the earnings season is concerned, around one-fifth of the S&amp;P 500 companies have released quarterly results so far, with the majority of those exceeding market estimates.
On the economic data front, the composite manufacturing index in the US Fifth District came in at -14 for October compared to a reading of -21 in the prior month.
Most sectors on the S&amp;P 500 closed on a negative note, with industrials, materials, and utilities stocks recording the biggest losses on Tuesday. However, consumer staples and communication services stocks bucked the overall market trend, closing the session higher.

The analyst is particularly optimistic about the significant progress in reducing ZYN out-of-stock in the U.S., aligning with insights from their recent Nicotine Nuggets Q3 Retailer Survey, which should help limit market share loss.
&#8220;Ultimately we believe management&#8217;s decision to raise guidance again this year is positive and suggests management has good visibility into its business,&#8221; the analyst writes.
The analyst says the third quarter results significantly exceeded expectations, and management raised its FY24 guidance for the third time this year.
Notably, they also increased dollar EPS growth projections, even with a larger anticipated currency headwind, highlighting the strong underlying momentum.

Philip Morris' Raised Guidance Suggests Good Visibility: Goldman Sachs Analyst

Wall Street traded lower for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, as investor sentiment turned cautious with the U.S. presidential election <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/2024-elections">just two weeks away. </a>
Concerns over U.S. fiscal policies and potential shifts in economic direction fueled the pause in risk-taking.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) upgraded its U.S. growth forecasts for 2024 and 2025 in the latest World Economic Outlook, while also flagging rising concerns about the country's debt trajectory, warning that with current large fiscal deficits, &#8220;the U.S. public debt is not stabilized.&#8221;
Commodities were the standout performers on Tuesday, with both metals and energy experiencing notable gains.
Gold, tracked by the SPDR Gold Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLD#NYSE">GLD</a>), rose 0.8%, pushing further into record territory. This increase extended its year-to-date performance to 34%, positioning gold for its strongest <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/bonds/24/10/41455678/gold-on-track-for-best-year-since-1979-veteran-investor-says-sell-bonds-buy-gold">annual gain since 1979.</a> Gold miners, as represented by the VanEck Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GDX#NYSE">GDX</a>), rallied for the ninth consecutive session, hitting their highest levels in over four years.
Silver, tracked by the iShares Silver Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SLV#NYSE">SLV</a>), surged 2.8%, reaching levels not seen since October 2012.
Oil prices rallied nearly 3%, building on a 2% surge from Monday. U.S. Treasury yields ticked up modestly on Tuesday following Monday's spike, with the 10-year yield settling at 4.21%.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY), tracked by the Invesco DB USD Index Bullish Fund ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UUP#NYSE">UUP</a>), climbed past the 104 mark, continuing its steady ascent and eyeing a fourth consecutive week of gains.
In the cryptocurrency market, Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) fell 0.5%, dipping to around $67,000 and marking its second consecutive day of declines.

U.S. stocks were lower, with the Dow Jones index falling around 50 points on Tuesday.
Shares of Quest Diagnostics Incorporated (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DGX#NYSE">DGX</a>) rose sharply during Tuesday's session after the company reported better-than-expected third-quarter financial results and issued FY24 revenue <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/10/41458004/quest-diagnostics-ceo-touts-new-customer-wins-in-q3-expects-earnings-growth-in-2025">guidance above estimates</a>.
Quest Diagnostics posted third-quarter adjusted earnings per share of $2.30, beating the consensus of $2.26. Sales increased 8.5% year-over-year to $2.49 billion, beating the consensus of $2.42 billion
Quest Diagnostics shares jumped 7.1% to $157.87 on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Philip Morris International Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PM#NYSE">PM</a>) stock is trading higher after the company reported better-than-expected&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/10/b41447681/philip-morris-international-reports-2024-third-quarter-first-nine-months-results-raises-2024-guida" rel="noreferrer noopener">third-quarter 2024 earnings</a>.
The Marlboro maker reported third-quarter revenue of $9.91 billion, up 8.4% year over year, beating the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/earnings" rel="noreferrer noopener">consensus of $9.69 billion</a>.
Net revenues increased by 11.6% on an organic basis, mainly reflecting a favorable pricing variance, primarily due to higher combustible tobacco pricing, and a favorable volume/mix, mainly driven by higher smoke-free product volume.
&#8220;In the third quarter, we delivered exceptionally strong performance, with record quarterly net revenues and earnings per share,&#8221;&nbsp;said Jacek Olczak, CEO.
&#8220;This reflects excellent momentum across all regions and categories, with a reacceleration in IQOS adjusted&nbsp;in-market sales growth, strong ZYN volumes, and resilient combustible performance,&#8221; the CEO added.

Quarterly shipments of smoke-free products reached close to 40 billion units. The smoke-free business accounted for 38% of total net revenues and 40% of gross profit, with net revenues increasing by 14.2% (16.8% organically) and gross profit increasing by 15.9% (20.2% organically).
The third-quarter total cigarette and Heated Tobacco unit (HTU) shipment volume grew by 2.6% year-over-year to 198.59 billion (HTU shipments increased by 8.9%, and cigarette shipments increased by 1.3%), with increases across all regions except the Americas Region.
Total oral product shipment volume in cans increased by 24.7%, predominantly reflecting growth in nicotine pouches.
Adjusted EPS reached $1.91, up 14.4%, beating the consensus estimate of $1.82 and management guidance of $1.77 – $1.82. Adjusted EPS excluding currency reached $1.97, up 18%.
Outlook: Philip Morris raised its fiscal year 2024 adjusted EPS outlook&nbsp;to $6.45-$6.51 from <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/07/39908836/tobacco-company-philip-morris-lights-up-q2-earnings-surpass-estimates-raises-2024-eps-forecast" rel="noreferrer noopener">prior guidance of $6.33 – $6.45</a> versus the consensus of $6.41.
This forecast assumes Nicotine pouch shipment volume in the U.S. of 570 to 580 million cans, and net revenue growth of&nbsp;7.5%&nbsp;to&nbsp;9%&nbsp;on an organic basis.
Total cigarette, HTU, and oral smoke-free product shipment volume growth for PMI of 2% to 3% driven by smoke-free products.
The company expects organic operating income growth of 14% to 14.5%.
Price Action: At the last check Tuesday, PM stock was trading higher by 4.59% at $124.42.
