The Fund is an actively managed exchange-traded fund (ETF) that pursues its investment objective by seeking investment exposure to the largest companies (Underlying Issuers) in one or more of the following industries, each of which is defined by an independent industry classification scheme: Technology Hardware Industry; E-Commerce Discretionary Industry; Internet Media & Services Industry; and Software Industry (collectively, the Technology Industries). Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) investors have typically rushed to buy the stock on any dips, but the <a href="https://in.benzinga.com/tech/25/01/43302711/nvidia-hardest-hit-among-mag-7-stocks-by-deepseek-and-this-stock-ranked-second">mood has shifted</a> following a sharp selloff driven by Chinese AI startup DeepSeek. Nvidia shares slumped 17% in a single day, wiping out about $590 billion in market capitalization, after DeepSeek claimed high performance at a lower cost. While the stock has regained some ground, it remains over 12% below its January record high, signaling growing fears of a slowdown in AI spending, said Bloomberg. The stock is down 4.85% so far this year.

The stock has gained substantially in early 2025, helping offset losses elsewhere in the fund. The stock is up 20.85% this year thus far.
However, not all MAGS components have fared as well. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) has faced headwinds from weakening iPhone demand in China and regulatory challenges in the EU, dipping 3.51% YTD. Alphabet Inc. Equal-Weight Structure Keeps Gains In Check
One crucial factor behind MAGS' flat performance is its equal-weighting strategy. Unlike the S&amp;P 500 or Nasdaq indexes, which are weighted by market capitalization, MAGS ensures that each of the seven stocks carries nearly the same portfolio weight. While this strategy prevents any single stock from dominating the fund, it also means that even when gains and losses in the stocks counterbalance one another.
While the MAGS ETF has outperformed the broader Nasdaq over the past year, its equal-weight structure has contributed to its lackluster YTD performance. With Tesla and Nvidia dragging the fund down and Apple and Alphabet also struggling, the gains from Meta haven't been enough to push MAGS higher.

Why The MAGS ETF Has Remained Flat Year-to-Date Despite Some Strong Performers

China is looking to target U.S. tech companies in order to gain leverage in trade negotiations <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/02/43577207/trump-says-he-will-announce-reciprocal-tariffs-next-week-that-will-impact-everyone-escalating-trade-war-with-global-partners-the-only-fair-way-to-do-it">with U.S. President Donald Trump</a>.
What To Know: According to the <a href="https://www.wsj.com/tech/china-trade-war-us-tech-03578671?mod=hp_lead_pos3">Wall Street Journal</a>, Chinese officials are building a list of U.S. tech companies that can be probed over antitrust concerns, including Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) and Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>). 
The Nvidia probe came after the Biden administration ramped up export controls on high-end semiconductors to China, and the Google probe came immediately after an additional 10% tariff on Chinese goods went into effect last week.
China is also targeting Apple Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>), Broadcom Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AVGO#NASDAQ">AVGO</a>) and Synopsys Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SNPS#NASDAQ">SNPS</a>).
The goal is to influence tech executives who have become close to Trump as trade tensions rise.

"China is on a chip-gathering exercise,&#8221; Trivium China&#8217;s Tom Nunlist told the WSJ. &#8220;They want to come to the table to negotiate and need something to play with.&#8221;
China has strengthened regulatory tools in recent years including adding an &#8220;unreliable entity list&#8221; and amending laws to tighten rules on anticompetitive acquisitions. Chinese officials reportedly aim to get the attention of some of the top tech executives who appear to be close to Trump, including those who sat next to him on Inauguration Day like Google&#8217;s Sundar Pichai and Apple&#8217;s Tim Cook. 
Chinese tech companies typically criticize Apple because of the fees it charges developers for in-app services. Apple has said its policies help ensure that the apps remain safe.
The report indicates that Chinese regulators have started taking a closer look at Apple in recent weeks as some view Apple&#8217;s fees as &#8220;unreasonably high&#8221; and believe its app rules could hurt competition. 
Price Action: The Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/XLK#NYSE">XLK</a>) was up more than 1.5% on Monday at last check.
The tech-heavy Invesco QQQ (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>) was up about 1.25%.

China Sets Sights On Apple, Nvidia And Other US Tech Companies As Trade Tensions Rise

Major stock indices have completed their recovery following Monday's sharp drop, buoyed by tech stocks rallying on the back of solid earnings <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/econ-s">and positive macroeconomic data.</a>
The S&amp;P 500 index stands at 6,118 points at midday trading in New York, not far from the all-time high of 6,128 points reached last Friday.
The Personal Consumption Expenditure price index — the Fed's preferred inflation gauge — <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/25/01/43390001/feds-favorite-inflation-gauge-rises-as-predicted-consumer-spending-jumps-at-fastest-pace-in-9-months">came in line with expectations in December</a>, easing market participants&#8217; concerns over interest rates. Fed futures continue to reflect expectations for two rate cuts by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, personal spending posted a robust 0.7% increase in December, signaling strong consumer appetite in the final month of the year — a promising sign for corporate earnings.
The Magnificent Seven — as tracked by the Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAGS#NASDAQ">MAGS</a>) – soared 1.6% on Friday, effectively erasing weekly losses after plunging as much as 3.1% on Monday due to the DeepSeek selloff.
Yet, within the elite group, NVIDIA Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) remains 12% lower than last Friday's close, with Friday&#8217;s gains primarily driven by Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) and Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>)
The Dow Jones, flat on the day, attempted to break its all-time highs at the open but faced resistance from sellers. Sector-wise, tech leads the charge, while energy lags following mixed earnings results from oil giants Exxon Mobil Corp. WTI crude oil prices were down 0.3% at $72.3 per barrel, potentially marking their second consecutive weekly decline.

The company went from being the most valuable in the world to the third most valuable.
The loss of around $600 billion in value marked the largest single-day value drop in U.S. stock history.
Investors were concerned that Nvidia could suffer from a more cost-effective AI model, and the rise of DeepSeek could mean less spending on products from the semiconductor giant.
A Benzinga reader poll found that when it comes to which Magnificent 7 stocks could be the most impacted by DeepSeek, Nvidia wins rather handily.
"Which Magnificent 7 company could be hit hardest by China's DeepSeek AI platform," Benzinga asked.

The poll showed Nvidia as the clear winner with 82%, reflecting its status as the steepest decliner among the seven stocks on Monday.
Ranking second was Microsoft, which has become a big investor in the AI sector, including a stake in OpenAI. The capabilities of DeepSeek were quickly compared to OpenAI on Monday and could ramp up a rivalry between the two companies. Microsoft stock fell 2.1% on Monday.
Ranking third was Alphabet with 3% followed by Amazon and Meta at 2%. Tesla and Apple did not receive any responses in the poll, suggesting these companies are potentially less impacted by the rise of DeepSeek.

Why It's Important: Many technology stocks came roaring back on Tuesday, showing fears of DeepSeek could be overblown.
Nvidia stock was up 8.8% on Tuesday, while Microsoft also gained 2.9%.
The Roundhill Magnificent 7 ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAGS#NASDAQ">MAGS</a>), which tracks the seven stocks mentioned above, was up 3% on Tuesday. The ETF was down 3.1% Monday.
A <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/movers/25/01/43289107/will-deepseek-hurt-magnificent-7-stocks-valuation">separate Benzinga reader poll</a> asked if DeepSeek could drive down the valuation of Magnificent 7 stocks in 2025. The poll found that 57% said yes that valuations could face pressure.
Several leading investment voices called Monday's selloff of Nvidia stock a buying opportunity.
"To me, it's an overreaction," Fundstrat Global Advisors' head of research Tom Lee said Monday.
Lee compared Monday&#8217;s drop to a March 2020 Nvidia stock decline that ended up being a good entry point for investors.
&#8220;I&#8217;d be looking at this as an opportunity.&#8221;
Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives called DeepSeek the "Temu of AI" in a <a href="https://x.com/DivesTech/status/1884222484536553882">tweet</a>, comparing the Chinese AI to a Chinese ecommerce company that has tried to disrupt Amazon with low prices, but potentially inferior goods.
Ives also questioned the reports that DeepSeek built its AI models without using Nvidia products, saying it was unlikely.
"We expect more innovation in AI/LLM model costs to come down. However, saying DeepSeek was built for $6 million with no Nvidia next generation hardware is likely a fictional story that is at the heart of the debate and drove a massive tech-sell off."
The analyst <a href="https://x.com/DivesTech/status/1884370285790421282">hinted </a>that earnings reports from Meta and Microsoft on Wednesday after market close could show the importance of AI in the U.S.
"We expect Meta and Microsoft to reiterate their massive 2025 AI driven Capex numbers of $60 billion-$65 billion and $80 billion respectively with a firm tone."

Moreover, Nvidia has already said that DeepSeek's inference requires &#8220;significant numbers of Nvidia GPUs and high-performance networking."

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">DeepSeek Sparks AI Valuation Fears</h3>
The selloff was triggered by concerns that China's DeepSeek R1, an open-source AI model reportedly rivaling top U.S. models at a fraction of the cost, could erode pricing power and future growth prospects for U.S. AI firms. 
&#8220;The Stargate project was launched in part to assert the United States' global AI dominance and prevent China from taking the lead. If China already has the lead and is able to develop comparable AI products with cheaper, less dynamic chips and other inputs, it could result in a radical change in market perceptions,&#8221; analyst Michael Gayed said.
Goldman Sachs analyst Ronald Keung highlighted that cost-efficient Chinese AI firms could rapidly expand their global influence, challenging the massive capital expenditures made by U.S. tech giants.
Yet, not all analysts see this as a long-term negative. 
CJ Muse, a semiconductor analyst at Cantor Fitzgerald, highlighted that DeepSeek's emergence could actually be bullish for Nvidia and the broader AI industry.
&#8220;DeepSeek R1 is actually very bullish for Nvidia,&#8221; Muse said on Bloomberg TV. &#8220;Their announcement means we are closer to AGI (artificial generative intelligence). That's bullish for the ubiquity of AI.&#8221;
Despite the stock plunge, Muse indicates that AI leaders will not cut capital expenditures anytime soon.
&#8220;They are not going to slow down spending. They want to win,&#8221; he said.
Ahead of this week&#8217;s key tech earnings, Muse doesn&#8217;t expect any material change in CapEx announcements from Meta, Microsoft, or Nvidia.
"The market has to digest the news and realize this is not a negative event," the analyst said. 
&#8220;China understands how important AI is for their economy,&#8221; Muse stated, indicating that the tech battle vis-à-vis the U.S. is going to be fierce.
&#8220;I wouldn't never bet against the engineer we have in the U.S.&#8221; he ended.

The project, designed to transform America's AI infrastructure, added fuel to a market already cheering on stronger-than-expected fourth-quarter earnings and rising hopes of Federal Reserve interest rate cuts later this year.
Mega-cap technology stocks and semiconductor giants led the charge, pushing the S&amp;P 500 — tracked by the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) — higher for the sixth time in the last seven sessions.
By midday Wednesday, the S&amp;P 500 hit 6,100.4 points, narrowly surpassing its previous record of 6,099 set on Dec. 6.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">AI Stargate: A Game-Changing Investment in AI Infrastructure</h3>
Trump unveiled AI Stargate on Jan. 21. The joint venture unites OpenAI, led by Sam Altman, SoftBank, backed by Masayoshi Son, and Oracle Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ORCL#NYSE">ORCL</a>) to build next-generation AI infrastructure.
The project aims to invest up to $500 billion over four years to develop massive AI data centers across the U.S., starting with an initial $100 billion phase.
Trump hailed the initiative as a &#8220;declaration of confidence in America&#8217;s potential,&#8221; emphasizing its importance in keeping the future of AI technology within U.S. borders. 
AI Stargate is expected to create 100,000 jobs almost immediately, further boosting optimism about economic growth.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Earnings Strength Fuels Market Optimism</h3>
While AI excitement dominated headlines, a strong corporate earnings season provided the foundation for the market&#8217;s rally. 
As of Jan. 17, 81% of S&amp;P 500 companies reporting fourth-quarter results had exceeded Wall Street's profit forecasts, while 64% had beaten revenue estimates, according to FactSet.
Mega-cap firms reporting earnings this week — including Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NFLX#NASDAQ">NFLX</a>), Charles Schwab Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SCHW#NYSE">SCHW</a>), Prologis Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PLD#NYSE">PLD</a>), Procter &amp; Gamble (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PG#NYSE">PG</a>), Abbott Laboratories (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ABT#NYSE">ABT</a>), and Johnson &amp; Johnson (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JNJ#NYSE">JNJ</a>) — all topped estimates, reinforcing investor confidence in corporate America&#8217;s strength.
&#8220;The S&amp;P 500's forward profit margin was at a record-high 13.6% during the January 18, 2025, week, up 0.9 percentage points from 12.7% a year earlier,&#8221; veteran investor Ed Yardeni said in a note Wednesday. 
&#8220;Corporate profitability should continue to improve even as Trump's administration faces a big fiscal headwind.&#8221;
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tech Titans Drive The Market Higher</h2>
The so-called &#8220;Magnificent 7&#8221; stocks were at the center of Wednesday's rally, with the Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAGS#NASDAQ">MAGS</a>) climbing 1.5%.
Microsoft Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NYSE">MSFT</a>) surged 4%, while Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) jumped 4.6%, reinforcing their dominance in the AI race. Chip stocks saw particularly strong gains as investors bet on increased demand for AI-related infrastructure. 
Arm Holdings plc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ARM#NASDAQ">ARM</a>), the SoftBank-owned semiconductor design firm, soared 15%—its biggest single-day gain since February 2024.
SoftBank's 2024 annual report had described Arm as providing &#8220;the foundational technology for Artificial Super Intelligence,&#8221; a claim that now appears increasingly relevant as AI Stargate takes shape.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Six Stocks Powering The S&amp;P 500's Record High</h3>
Just a handful of companies were responsible for a significant portion of the broader market's surge on Wednesday. 
Nvidia and Microsoft alone contributed 53 basis points to the S&amp;P 500&#8217;s advance, while Netflix, Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>), Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>), and Oracle Corp. collectively added another 18 basis points.

Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) ETFs delivered over 100% gains in 2024. That&#8217;s four times the returns of the S&amp;P 500 index. The Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAGS#NASDAQ">MAGS</a>), meanwhile, lagged at 65%, proving the tech elite can't always <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/crypto">keep up with crypto</a>.
The SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>), a reliable proxy for the S&amp;P 500, posted a respectable 24.4% gain over the past year. 
It has faltered recently, dropping 2.51% over the last month.

With the stock price below its eight-, 20- and 50-day simple moving averages, SPY's technical outlook remains strongly bearish.
That said, a glimmer of hope lies in its 200-day SMA (simple moving average), which signals a bullish undertone at $555.48 compared to SPY's current $589.49 price. Short-term pain may precede long-term gains, as buying pressure hints at future bullish movement.

Despite a slight 2.54% dip last month, IBIT's long-term technicals remain robust, trading well above its 200-day SMA at $40.17. However, recent selling pressure and a price of $53.34 below its eight and 20-day SMAs indicate a short-term bearish trend.
With Bitcoin ETFs delivering unmatched growth, even slight headwinds haven't dampened their shine.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average hit an all-time high of over 45,000 points in December, one of several stock market indexes to hit records after Donald Trump won the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/11/41857971/trumps-win-sends-wall-street-to-record-highs-small-caps-tesla-outperform-fed-cuts-interest-rates-this-week-in-the-market">2024 presidential election.</a>
Here's a look at the top-performing and worst-performing Dow Jones Industrial Average components in 2024 and how the index's leaders could look much different in 2025.
2024 Performance: In 2024, 18 of the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/dow-jones-industrial-average">Dow Jones component stocks </a>were up, with 12 stocks declining for the full year. This includes the original Dow Jones members at the start of 2024 and does not factor in the index changes made throughout the year.
Here's a look at the top five gainers for the full year, based on Dec. 27 closing prices:

For comparison, 19 of the Dow Jones components stocks <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/01/36455419/5-biggest-winners-5-biggest-losers-from-dow-jones-industrial-average-in-2023">were up in 2023</a>, with 11 down for the full year.
A quick look at the losers list shows two stocks that are no longer part of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, thanks to several changes that took place in 2024 to the 30 core components.
Apple is the only stock to appear on the top gainers list for both 2023 and 2024, ranking fourth in 2023 and fifth in 2024.
Intel was the second-biggest gainer in 2023 before falling in 2024 and turning in the second-worst performance of the 30 stocks. Boeing also flipped from being a top performer, ranking fifth in 2023 to turning in a poor performance in 2024.
Walgreens was the worst-performing Dow Jones stock for the second straight year, but that will be a thing of the past heading into 2025.

 What's Next in 2025: After several years of no changes to the 30 components of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the well-known market index made multiple changes in 2024.
The index replaced underperforming Walgreens with Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>) in February. The index also replaced Intel and Dow Inc with NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) and Sherwin-Williams (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SHW#NYSE">SHW</a>) respectively.
With the changes, the Dow Jones Industrial Average will now have four of the seven Magnificent 7 stocks heading into 2025 with Amazon, Nvidia, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>) and Apple Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) all included in the Dow.
The stocks that left the Dow Jones in 2024 were among the biggest losers in 2024 for the index, with Walgreens ranking worst for yearly performance, Intel ranking second worst and Dow ranking sixth worst at -27.0%.
The underperformance of several Dow Jones components kept the index down compared to other market barometers. The SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DIA#NYSE">DIA</a>), which tracks the Dow Jones Industrial Average, is up 14.0% year-to-date in 2024.
For comparison, the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>), which tracks the S&amp;P 500 Index, is up 23.8% year-to-date.
The Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAGS#NASDAQ">MAGS</a>), which tracks the Magnificent 7 stocks, is up 68.5% year-to-date.
Having Amazon, Nvidia and Sherwin Williams as components to start 2024 would have made the index's returns look significantly different. While the three stocks that left the index were each down over 25% year-to-date in 2024, here are the year-to-date returns of the replacement stocks in 2024:

Dow Jones 2024 Scoreboard: Top 5 Winners, Losers — And How Amazon, Nvidia Could Reshape 2025 (CORRECTED)

U.S. stock futures declined on Thursday in premarket hours after hitting fresh highs on Wednesday. The futures of all the four major indices were trading lower.
November inflation data was in line with analyst expectations, shooting up the probability of a further 25 basis point rate cut in December rose to 98.6% versus 58.75% probability a month ago, according to <a href="https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html">CME Group&#8217;s FedWatch tool</a>. Federal Reserve officials are currently in a quiet period ahead of their December meeting.
Traders now await the producer price index data, which will be released later today. The 10-year and two-year Treasury notes yielded 4.30% and 4.18%, respectively

The Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAGS#NASDAQ">MAGS</a>), a closely watched benchmark for the group&#8217;s market performance, surged 3.03% on Wednesday, setting a new all-time high.

Despite the S&amp;P 500 Index nearing record highs on Wednesday, its breadth was skewed in the favour of the bears.
&#8220;117 stocks in the S&amp;P 500 made a new monthly low yesterday, the most since 139 on Halloween. 211 made a 10-day low, most since Sept 6,&#8221; said Ryan Detrick, the chief market strategist at Carson Group.

Talking about balancing growth amid policy shifts, Andrew Pease, the chief investment strategist at Russell Investments said, &#8220;Tax cuts and deregulation could provide a meaningful growth boost, particularly to domestic and cyclical sectors.&#8221;
&#8220;Given lower valuations and improving sentiment, we are more positive on U.S. small-cap equity than we have been in prior years. Large-cap dominance in both earnings and price appreciation will require a catalyst to shift returns in the small-cap direction,&#8221; he added.
Apart from small-caps, Pease in his note said that &#8220;growth managers targeting high-growth cyclical sectors like software, while value managers identify mergers and acquisitions potential in financials and healthcare. Core managers are balancing cyclical exposure and managing risks in rate-sensitive sectors.&#8221;
Citing rich valuations, Alex Chaloff, the chief investment officer at Bernstein Private Wealth Management said that they are still pro-equities.
&#8220;We&#8217;re optimistic on equities, think that valuations are a little bit rich in a pocket of the market, but there are some opportunities. In bonds, you can clip the coupon even if rates move higher from here, which we don&#8217;t think is our base case,&#8221; he said.

Asian markets were mixed on Thursday as Australia&#8217;s ASX 200 and India&#8217;s S&amp;P BSE Sensex declined. While, Hong Kong&#8217;s Hang Seng, China&#8217;s CSI 300, Japan&#8217;s Nikkei 225, and South Korea&#8217;s Kospi Index advanced. Most European markets advanced.

The Magnificent Seven tech giants are rewriting the playbook on market dominance, with their combined market capitalization surging to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/magnificent-seven">an unprecedented $18.2 trillion.</a>
Five out of the seven juggernauts — Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>), Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>), Amazon Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>), Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>), and Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) — smashed through record highs during Wednesday trading, solidifying their grip on the global stock market and fueling another strong rally in 2024.
The Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAGS#NYSE">MAGS</a>), a closely watched benchmark for the group's market performance, surged 2.8% on Wednesday, setting a new all-time high.
Notably, Tesla shares soared to fresh all-time highs after surpassing the peak set in November 202. The EV-maker has gained 67% since the U.S. presidential election, thanks to its innovative ability to scale like a software company.
&#8220;Because Tesla can remotely update its fleet&#8217;s software, its ability to scale and grow are more similar to the other tech companies in the&nbsp;Magnificent-7&nbsp;than an auto manufacturer,&#8221; said Wall Street veteran investor Ed Yardeni in a note Wednesday. 
Alphabet led the day's rally with a 4.63% gain, while Apple lagged, showing a flat performance.
The elite group of tech giants has delivered an average return of 67.1% year-to-date, compared to a record-breaking 111.7% average return in 2023.
Microsoft Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NYSE">MSFT</a>) and Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) were the only members of the elite group that did not hit new all-time highs during Wednesday's trading session.
Yet, Nvidia remains the standout performer with a staggering year-to-date gain of 182%, securing its position as the top performer in the Magnificent Seven.

Magnificent Seven Tech Titans Hit $18.2 Trillion Market Cap: Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Tesla Jointly Notch All-Time Highs

<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/24/12/42436676/inflation-rises-as-expected-in-november-sustain-hopes-for-next-weeks-fed-interest-rate-cut">An inline November inflation report</a> unleashed a surge of bullish momentum across markets on Wednesday.
Traders priced in near-certainty of a 25-basis-point rate cut at next week's Federal Reserve meeting, fueling optimism for a<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/24/12/42436676/inflation-rises-as-expected-in-november-sustain-hopes-for-next-weeks-fed-interest-rate-cut"> more accommodating monetary policy.</a>
The Consumer Price Index rose by 2.7% year-over-year in November, matching expectations. Core inflation — excluding volatile items such as energy and food — remained steady at 3.3%.
Tech stocks took center stage as the Nasdaq 100 rallied 1.7%, notching a fresh record high and logging its best session in over a month. The so-called &#8220;Magnificent Seven&#8221; mega-cap stocks were the driving force behind the gains.
The Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAGS#NASDAQ">MAGS</a>) jumped 2.6%, its best performance since Nov. 6, eyeing its eighth positive session in the last nine trading days.
Six of the seven mega-cap tech giants hit record highs, with the group's combined market cap reaching a staggering $17.3 trillion. Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) was the sole exception among the elite names.
The S&amp;P 500 joined the rally, climbing 0.9% and nearing its all-time highs. Small-cap stocks added 0.7%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average remained flat, lagging behind its peers.
Improving rate-cut expectations — fed futures now almost fully pricing in a 25-basis-point rate cut next week — supported gold, with the yellow metal rising 0.9% to 2,717 per ounce, heading for a fourth straight session of gains.
Bullish sentiment returned to the crypto market, with Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) rallying 4% to above $100,000 again, almost erasing losses from prior two sessions. 
Oil prices rose more than 2% on Wednesday, even as OPEC downgraded its global demand outlook for both 2023 and 2024.

Nasdaq 100 Rallies To Record Highs, Magnificent 7 Market Cap Tops $17 Trillion, Bitcoin Soars To $100,000: What's Driving Markets Wednesday?

Aswath Damodaran, finance professor at New York Univerisity&#8217;s Stern School of Business, told Bloomberg Television on Monday that he recommends buying any of the Magnificent Seven <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/tech/24/11/42143676/which-magnificent-7-stock-should-doj-target-next-benzinga-poll-finds-over-50-say">stocks on dips. </a>
What To Know: Corrections will occur and "I'd suggest that when that happens you find a way to add at least one, maybe two or three of these companies, because these are so much part of what drives the economy and the market," Damodaran said.

It has been difficult to buy the dip on a Magnificent Seven stock as the tech giants have climbed throughout 2024. The Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAGS#NASDAQ">MAGS</a>) offers equal-weight exposure to the Magnificent Seven stocks and is up nearly 60% year-to-date. 
"As a value investor, I have never seen cash machines as lucrative as these companies are," Damodaran said. "And I don't see the cash machine slowing down."
Apple, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) and Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) continue jockeying for the top position as the largest company in terms of market capitalization. Apple currently holds the largest market cap at $3.67 trillion, while Nvidia is in second place with a market cap of $3.44 trillion. Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>) remains in third with a market capitalization of $3.21 trillion. 
Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>), formerly the laggard of the seven, has gained more than 40% over the past month. CEO Elon Musk has grown into a trusted advisor of President-elect Donald Trump and investors are betting Tesla <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/global/24/12/42283558/elon-musks-doge-co-lead-already-targeting-tesla-rivals-vivek-ramaswamy-flags-stellantis-75b-loan-days-after-criticizing-rivians-66b-loan">will benefit</a> under the Trump administration. 
Though not quite a dip, Alphabet, Inc. What Happened: Nvidia stock is up 199% year-to-date in 2024 and could have more upside ahead according to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/11/42119226/nvidia-analysts-see-stock-best-positioned-in-ai-not-worried-about-guidance-all-systems-go-for-blackwell-ramp">analyst price targets </a>after the company's third-quarter beat and raised guidance.
Benzinga recently asked readers if any of the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/magnificent-seven">Magnificent 7 stocks</a> could post stronger stock growth than Nvidia in the next year.

The poll found the near-majority predicting Nvidia will have the strongest growth in 2025 and dominate the Magnificent 7 stocks once again.
Coming in second place, and the stock that could have the best chance to pass Nvidia according to readers, was Tesla at 27%. This might not be a huge surprise given Tesla's five-year return is the next closest to Nvidia's when looking at the Magnificent 7 stocks.

Tech giants' earnings were underwhelming, except for Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) and Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>). None of the other &#8220;Magnificent Seven&#8221; companies posted positive weekly performance. Among mega-cap companies, the top performers for the week were Charter Communications Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BKNG#NASDAQ">BKNG</a>), both rising approximately 9%. Booking also marked the strongest weekly gains since August 2022.

On the macroeconomic front, the U.S. economy saw a surprising slowdown in job growth in October, with <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/econ-s/24/11/41684710/us-economy-adds-only-12-000-jobs-in-october-sharply-misses-estimates-as-hurricane-strikes-pummel-hir">nonfarm payrolls increasing by just 12,000</a>—nearly a four-year low and well below the expected 113,000.

The U.S. economy added only 12,000 jobs in October, 211,000 fewer than in September. This marked the lowest monthly pace since December 2020 and sharply missed estimates of 113,000.
Market pricing now reflects a full probability of a 25-basis-point rate cut at next week's Federal Reserve meeting, with the likelihood of another cut in December surging to 85%, according to the CME FedWatch tool.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hurricanes, Strikes Knock October Employment Down</h2>
Beyond the dismal October employment figures, which suggest a recession-like scenario, factors such as hurricanes and strikes have significantly disrupted hiring across the nation.

Additionally, layoffs surged in manufacturing, rising to 46,000 — the highest since 2009, excluding the pandemic months of March and April 2020. "Manufacturing employment decreased by 46,000 in October, reflecting a decline of 44,000 in transportation equipment manufacturing largely due to strike activity," the BLS added.
Despite stagnant job growth in October, the unemployment rate held steady at 4.1%, indicating that businesses remain committed to retaining their workforce.

<li>The Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAGS#NASDAQ">MAGS</a>) rose 1.4%. On Thursday, it tumbled 3.9%, marking the sharpest 1-day drop since late July.</li>
<li>Sector-wise, the Consumer Discretionary&nbsp;Select Sector SPDR Fund (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/XLY#NYSE">XLY</a>) led gains, up over 2%, fueled by a 6% post-earnings rally from Amazon.com Inc. <li>The Direxion Daily AMZN Bull 2X Shares (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZU#NASDAQ">AMZU</a>) skyrocketed by 13%. </li>
<li>Rising expectations for Fed rate cuts fueled gains in real estate industries, with the iShares U.S. Home Construction ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ITB#NYSE">ITB</a>) rising 1.8%. </li>
<li>Semiconductors rebounded after tumbling by 3.9% on Thursday. The iShares Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SOXX#NASDAQ">SOXX</a>) rose 1.6%. Intel Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/INTC#NASDAQ">INTC</a>) was among the best performers following better-than-expected results. </li>

<li>The United States Oil Fund (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/USO#NYSE">USO</a>), which tracks West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude performance, gained 1% amid rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East following Iran&#8217;s retaliatory attack on Israel. </li>

Benzinga readers were recently asked to pick which Magnificent Seven stocks could benefit the most from the interest rate cut.
What Happened: The Federal Reserve's decision to<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/24/09/40926026/federal-reserve-delivers-bold-0-5-rate-cut-signals-further-easing-ahead"> cut interest rates</a> could benefit small-cap stocks the most, with loans cheaper for companies that need capital to continue growing.
Interest rate cuts could also benefit consumers as mortgage rates decline, auto loans get cheaper and credit card fees get lowered as a trickle-down impact from the Federal Reserve's decision.
Along with small cap stocks, the overall stock market could benefit including the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/magnificent-seven">Magnificent Seven stocks </a>that are among the most valuable and most-followed stocks in the U.S.
"Which Magnificent 7 stock will perform the best during the rate-cutting cycle," Benzinga recently asked readers.

Tesla won the poll as the stock that will perform the best during the rate-cutting cycle with nearly a quarter of the vote. The stock could be popular given auto loans could come down in price and consumers having less concerns about higher prices all around could mean new auto purchases become more of a possibility.
Investors may also have picked Tesla in the poll as it is the Magnificent Seven stock with the worst year-to-date and one-year performance.

The Magnificent 7 stocks have mostly outperformed the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>), which tracks the S&amp;P 500 Index. The SPY is up 20.8% year-to-date and has climbed 32.1% over the last year, beating three Magnificent 7 stocks year-to-date and three stocks over the previous year.

What's Next: With less than three months left in 2024, investment appetite for Magnificent Seven stocks could change, with investors looking for small-cap winners or stocks that could perform well after the 2024 election.
Benzinga readers recently voted Nvidia as <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/top-stories/24/08/40602271/ready-to-retire-on-a-single-magnificent-7-stock-poll-reveals-top-pick-and-its-not-apple" target="_blank" rel="noopener">their top Magnificent 7 stock </a>to retire on, with 33% of the vote. Apple and Microsoft ranked second and third, with 21% and 17%, respectively.

The different polls show varying interest in the Magnificent Seven stocks depending on the investment angle. Tesla did not rank in the top three of recent polls until investors were asked about the investment angle of rate cuts.
For investors looking to get exposure to all the Magnificent Seven stocks, there is also the Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAGS#NASDAQ">MAGS</a>), which holds the seven companies. The ETF is up 45% year-to-date and up over 57% in the past year.
The study was conducted by Benzinga Sept. 19 through Sept. 20, 2024, and included the responses of a diverse population of adults 18 or older. Opting into the survey was completely voluntary, with no incentives offered to potential respondents. The study reflects results from 210 adults.
