Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin Turn Red, Trader Marks 'Ideal Support Level At $81,500'

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is too tough on crypto, 18 Attorneys General allege <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/law">in a new lawsuit</a>. 
What Happened: AGs from 18 Republican-leaning states joined the DeFi Education Fund to file a lawsuit against the SEC for what they consider overly harsh regulation against digital assets.
The plaintiffs are complaining that the SEC, led by Chairman Gary Gensler, is exceeding its authority in an attempt to regulate <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/11/41680397/who-will-replace-gary-gensler-the-top-candidates-for-sec-chair-after-the-election">the entire cryptocurrency sector.</a>
The lawsuit contends that the SEC's expansive approach lacks Congressional authorization, which would be necessary for it to assume such sweeping control.

According to the states, the SEC's "regulation by enforcement" strategy has hindered the growth of a sector.
The complaint states, "The SEC's assertion of sweeping jurisdiction without congressional authorization deprives States of their proper sovereign role and chills the development of innovative regulatory frameworks for the digital asset industry."
The lawsuit also challenges the SEC's enforcement actions, alleging that they lack clear standards and impose undue burdens on industry participants. 
This has resulted in significant financial harm, with some companies moving operations overseas due to regulatory uncertainty, the plaintiffs argue. 
The SEC's regulatory stance &#8220;threatens to displace better-suited state laws that have been carefully designed to ensure consumer protection in the digital asset industry,&#8221; they added.
The timing of the suit coincides with a growing national conversation on digital asset regulation, especially as Benzinga's <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/events/digital-assets/agenda/">Future of Digital Assets</a> conference approaches on Nov. 19, where key industry stakeholders and policymakers will discuss the future of cryptocurrency regulation in the U.S.

18 Republican States Sue Biden's SEC Over Harsh Crypto Crackdown

A new report from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has called attention to the prevalence of extremist and hateful content on Steam, accusing the platform of enabling the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/gaming">spread of such material. </a>
<a href="https://www.adl.org/resources/report/steam-powered-hate-top-gaming-site-rife-extremism-antisemitism">According</a> to the ADL's findings, over 1.8 million instances of hate-related content, including Nazi imagery and support for terrorist organizations like ISIS and Hamas, were discovered during an &#8220;unprecedented&#8221; analysis of Steam&#8217;s vast user base.
Benzinga has reached out to Valve Corporation, the platform&#8217;s parent company, for comment, but the company had not responded at time of publication.

The report, published on the ADL&#8217;s website, offers a sweeping look at the types of content found across the platform.
Over the course of its investigation, the ADL examined 458 million user profiles, 152 million group avatars and more than 610 million comments from users. Among the most concerning discoveries were antisemitic symbols, white supremacist propaganda and support for extremist groups, including thousands of mentions of ISIS and Hamas.
In addition to the hateful imagery, the ADL uncovered troubling use of offensive keywords such as "1488," "shekel" and "white power," with nearly 185,000 specific terms identified in extremist contexts. In total, 1.5 million unique users and over 73,000 groups were found to have shared such content.
Despite these alarming findings, the ADL points out a critical gap in Steam&#8217;s content moderation policies. While Valve explicitly prohibits hate speech in its developer and community guidelines — stating that it forbids &#8220;speech that promotes hatred, violence or discrimination&#8221; — the ADL argues that enforcement of these rules remains inconsistent.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Valve's Moderation Tools Under Scrutiny</h1>
The ADL&#8217;s report goes on to question the effectiveness of Valve&#8217;s moderation efforts. While the company employs filters and automated tools to screen user-profiles and comments, these measures are not universally applied across all areas of the platform.
Notably, users can disable filters, making it easier for harmful content to slip through the cracks. Furthermore, the ADL asserts that Valve's keyword detection system can easily be evaded, with users modifying words or using ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) art to circumvent moderation systems.
&#8220;While Steam appears to be technically capable of moderating extremist and hateful content on its platform, the spread of extremist content on the platform is due in part to Valve&#8217;s highly permissive approach to content policy,&#8221; the ADL stated. 
It also pointed out that, in rare instances, Valve has taken down extremist content, but this has often occurred only after external pressure or media attention, rather than as part of a consistent, proactive strategy.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Calls For Change In Valve&#8217;s Platform</h1>
The organization has called for a significant overhaul of the company's content governance, urging Valve to implement policies that explicitly prohibit hate and extremism, conduct thorough audits of their moderation practices, and collaborate with researchers and civil society to improve their approach.
&#8220;Major gaming companies are selling their wares on a platform that is not addressing users&#8217; support of extremists and allowing the proliferation of hate,&#8221; Daniel Kelley, the ADL's director of strategy and operations, remarked in an <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-11-14/white-supremacist-nazi-content-spread-on-steam-gaming-platform?srnd=undefined">interview</a> with Bloomberg. 
&#8220;This increases the likelihood that someone will travel all the way down the rabbit hole,&#8221; Kelley added.

1.8 Million Instances Of Hate Content On Steam — Is Valve Ignoring Extremism?: Report

Former DoorDash Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DASH#NASDAQ">DASH</a>) delivery workers are claiming they haven't been paid thousands of dollars in wages from past years and are seeking protection from deportation after Donald Trump's recent win in<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/11/41768178/donald-trump-defeats-kamala-harris-to-win-2024-election"> the 2024 election.</a>
 What Happened: A group of 95 delivery workers claim they were not paid their wages by DoorDash, one of the leading<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/food-delivery"> food delivery companies</a> in the U.S., or by Motoclick, a smaller food delivery company.
Wage theft claims filed claim the workers were not paid more than $78,000 in wages, according to a <a href="https://gothamist.com/news/nyc-delivery-workers-filing-wage-theft-claims-seek-protection-from-deportation-under-trump">report </a>from Gothamist.
"We're not able to pay the rent or send money to our families in our own countries," Juan Iturbide, a former DoorDash delivery worker said.
Iturbide filed his claim against DoorDash with New York City's Department of Consumer and Worker Protection in 2023 according to a <a href="https://documentedny.com/2024/11/13/doordash-immigrant-delivery-workers-stolen-wages/">report </a>from DocumentedNY.
"Delivery work is one of the most dangerous occupations in the city. In addition to risking our lives, we shouldn't have to worry about being robbed by such a wealthy company," Itrubide said, as reported by DocumentedNY. "We deserve to be paid for the service we provide."
The former delivery worker said he is owed around $1,500 by DoorDash in unpaid wages. Iturbide was deactivated by DoorDash in 2021 after five years working as a delivery driver.
Several of the workers, including Iturbide protested outside DoorDash's Manhattan headquarters on Wednesday.
One of the concerns of labor organizers helping the workers is that many claiming lost wages are immigrants without work authorization in the U.S. Bringing the claims forward could put the workers more at risk of deportation under Trump in his second presidential term, according to the report.
"If the federal government is going to fail workers, workers are going to need the protection of city and state agencies to hold these multibillion-dollar companies accountable," Worker's Justice Project executive director Ligia Guallpa said.

Why It's Important: The claims of unpaid wages could reignite the debate of whether food delivery workers are employees or independent contractors and comes with the timing of Trump's election win and deportation promises. The report said that New York City's 60,000 delivery workers are independent contractors.
New minimum wage laws and rules for delivery workers have added to the claims from workers against delivery companies.
The unpaid wages claims have caught the attention of New York City's Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, who sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in September.
The letter said that immigrant workers who have filed claims should be given protection from deportation proceedings and given legal right to work in the U.S.
DoorDash spokesperson Eli Scheinholtz said it takes concerns on wage theft seriously and investigates all claims to make sure the workers "receive what they're owed."
"Here's what we know to be true: Dashers in New York City get paid for the time spent completing work on our platform, in accordance with the city's minimum pay rules. If their pay does not meet the minimum pay rate at the end of the week, then they receive an adjustment — without exception," Scheinholtz said.
DASH Price Action: DoorDash stock closed Thursday down 1.12% at $173.80 versus a 52-week trading range of $92.56 to $178.16. DoorDash stock is up 80.2% year-to-date in 2024.

DoorDash Workers Claim Unpaid Wages, Seek Protection From Deportation: 'We're Not Able To Pay The Rent'

Uruguay, the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/23/07/33447320/first-country-to-legalize-weed-celebrates-6-years-of-pot-sales-promised-land-of-cannabis-and-mor">first country in the world</a> to legalize adult-use marijuana in 2013, initially made headlines as a pioneer in <a href="http://benzinga.com/cannabis">cannabis</a> regulation. However, despite early momentum, the industry now faces significant hurdles in export growth, driven by low prices, international trade restrictions and regulatory obstacles. Today, the sector comprises nearly 100 projects and employs around 756 people, with 77% of the workforce based outside the capital.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Challenges Impacting Uruguay's Cannabis</h3>
According to a recent <a href="https://www.ambito.com/uruguay/la-industria-del-cannabis-y-sus-desafios-el-escenario-global-n6081303">article</a> in Ámbito Financiero, half of the companies authorized for cultivation and industrialization in 2023 succeeded in <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/20/08/16910793/uruguay-exports-1000-pounds-of-cannabis-to-switzerland-announces-new-industry-measures">exporting flowers and medical products</a>. Yet, revenues fell sharply, with a 44% decline from the previous year, totaling just $3 million from 25 tons of hemp sub-products. The dip is largely attributed to low international prices, undermining the financial stability of many enterprises.
The industry remains dominated by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which account for 96% of the 90 active projects, while only 4% are considered large-scale companies. Despite these challenges, Uruguay managed to rank as the eighth-largest exporter of <a href="http://benzinga.com/topic/medical-cannabis">medical cannabis</a> in 2022, capturing a 2.1% share of the global market with exports of about 15 tons. Nonetheless, production volumes saw a 14% drop compared to the previous year.

As a country with 3.4 million inhabitants, exports play a key role in the growth of the industry. However, one of the major barriers to growth is the restrictive international trade environment. It&rsquo;s not just hydrogen industry executives who are losing patience over restrictive 45V tax credits. We&rsquo;re now learning that&nbsp;U.S. Senators Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Jim Risch (R-ID) and Pete Ricketts (R-NE) have also argued that the Biden administration&rsquo;s current 45V tax rule is making it difficult for U.S. hydrogen producers to qualify for tax credits.&nbsp;When and if it&rsquo;s lifted, <a href="https://investorplace.com/industries/energy/renewable-energy/hydrogen/">hydrogen stocks</a> could push higher.



&ldquo;With the proposed rule, the IRS and Treasury strayed far away from the simple definition of clean hydrogen,&rdquo;&nbsp;wrote the senators, <a href="https://www.cassidy.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/cassidy-republican-colleagues-condemn-new-biden-administration-rule-strangling-u-s-hydrogen/">as quoted by Cassidy.Senate.gov</a>.&nbsp;&ldquo;Significant buildout of renewable energy to support hydrogen production will surely face permitting, supply chain, and inflation issues.&rdquo;



If loosened,&nbsp;the Biden Administration could get one step closer to cutting emissions, as hoped. Remember, hydrogen &ndash; which only produces water vapor and warm air &ndash; is key to helping the U.S. achieve its net-zero emission goals.&nbsp;



With high hopes that 45V will be changed, buy some of the top hydrogen stocks today.



<h2>Bloom Energy (BE)</h2>

Helping analysts at RBC Capital just reiterated an outperform rating on the stock with a price target of $15. For example, the firm highlighted the&nbsp;potential for Bloom&rsquo;s fuel cell technology to meet the increasing energy demands of data center customers. Analysts at BTIG reiterated a buy rating on the stock with a price target of $21.



Bloom just&nbsp;<a href="https://www.datacenterdynamics.com/en/news/bloom-energy-to-provide-additional-fuel-cells-for-intel-data-center/">signed a contract</a>&nbsp;with&nbsp;Intel&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/intc-stock-quote/">INTC</a>) to install fuel cell-based services at Intel&rsquo;s computing data center in Santa Clara, California.&nbsp;With its focus on the rapidly growing data center market, this&nbsp;should draw even more attention&nbsp;to Bloom.



Investors should use the latest pullback in BE shares as a buying opportunity.



<h2>Plug Power (PLUG)</h2>

At $2.45, PLUG now sits at triple bottom support dating back to January. It&rsquo;s also over-extended on RSI, MACD and Williams&rsquo; %R. I&rsquo;d like to see PLUG initially rally back to about $3.32 from its current price. Longer-term, I&rsquo;d like to see it rally back to $7.50.&nbsp;



Helping, the company said it saw a &ldquo;<a href="https://seekingalpha.com/news/4092367-plug-power-touts-substantial-advancement-in-hydrogen-generation-buildout">substantial advancement</a>&rdquo; with its plants in Georgia and Tennessee. It also noted that its Louisiana joint venture with&nbsp;Olin&nbsp;(NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/oln-stock-quote/">OLN</a>) is on track to see mechanical completion by the end of the third quarter.&nbsp; Plus, it just signed&nbsp;<a href="https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2024/04/25/2869470/9619/en/Plug-Signs-Additional-BEDP-Contracts-for-a-Total-of-4-5GW-of-Electrolyzers-Across-Europe-and-the-United-States.html">two contracts</a>&nbsp;to deliver basic engineering and design packages (BEDP) for projects in Europe and the U.S.



PLUG also just&nbsp;won a deal for 25 megawatts (MW) of proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer systems from a European customer. &ldquo;The project will employ five of Plug&rsquo;s 5 MW containerized PEM electrolyzers to reduce the company&rsquo;s carbon footprint by using green hydrogen,&rdquo; <a href="https://www.nasdaq.com/press-release/plug-secures-25-mw-pem-electrolyzer-deal-major-european-customer-2024-06-21">added the company</a>.



Analysts at H.C. Wainwright are still bullish on PLUG, with a price target of $18.&nbsp;



<h2>Global X Hydrogen ETF (HYDR)</h2>

With an expense ratio of 0.5%, the ETF invests in stocks involved in hydrogen production and developing and manufacturing fuel cells. Some of its top holdings include Bloom Energy, Plug Power, Ballard Power (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/bldp-stock-quote/">BLDP</a>), ITM Power (OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/itmpf-stock-quote/">ITMPF</a>) and&nbsp;Ceres Power&nbsp;(OTCMKTS:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/cpwhf-stock-quote/">CPWHF</a>).



It was last trading at $26.33, so it&rsquo;s a buy on weakness. From that price, I&rsquo;d like to see it triple when hydrogen names start to take off again. Plus, if and when the 45V tax credit is loosened, the ETF and related stocks will soar again.

The hydrogen industry still waits for the Biden Administration to loosen restrictive 45V tax credit rules. Now, after about seven months, it&rsquo;s safe to say industry executives and even a few U.S. Senators are losing patience. Still, even as we wait, now is a great time to invest in some of the best <a href="https://investorplace.com/industries/energy/renewable-energy/hydrogen/">hydrogen stocks</a> on weakness.



We all know that when loosened, the Biden Administration could get one step closer to cutting emissions, as hoped. Hydrogen &mdash; which only produces water vapor and warm air&mdash;is key to helping the U.S. achieve its net-zero emission goals.&nbsp;



While most industries wait for the rules to change, companies like Plug Power (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/plug-stock-quote/">PLUG</a>) claim <a href="https://www.hydrogeninsight.com/production/plug-power-will-recognise-hydrogen-production-tax-credits-in-financial-reports-before-45v-rules-are-finalised/2-1-1668908">tax credits</a> anyway. Plus, even though the 45V tax rules have yet to be finalized, the company is pushing forward anyway, with CEO Andy Marsh confident the rules will change.



In addition, Plug Power once noted the current restrictive rules: &ldquo;The burdens imposed by this trio of restrictions will drastically stunt the growth of the clean hydrogen industry and prevent many promising projects from ever getting off the ground,&rdquo; <a href="https://www.hydrogeninsight.com/production/plug-power-will-recognise-hydrogen-production-tax-credits-in-financial-reports-before-45v-rules-are-finalised/2-1-1668908">as quoted by HydrogenInsight.com</a>.



With hopes that 45V will soon change, it&rsquo;s time to buy some of the best hydrogen stocks.



<h2>Linde (LIN)</h2>

Plus, we can collect its yield as we wait for LIN to tick higher.&rdquo;



That was on May 20, as LIN traded at about $430. While it hasn&rsquo;t hit my target of $460 just yet, it hit a high of $446.48 before pulling back to $425, which is still a strong buy. At $425 support, not only can we pick up the LIN stock on the cheap, but we can also collect its yield of about 1.3% while waiting on its recovery.



Helping analysts at Mizuho raised their price target on LIN to $512 with a buy rating. As noted by <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/06/large-and-in-charge-3-renewable-energy-stocks-promising-powerful-profits/">Investorplace contributor Terel Miles</a>, &ldquo;Linde&rsquo;s established presence and technological capabilities will drive approximately 8-10% EPS growth in FY24. This makes LIN stock one of the top renewable <a href="https://investorplace.com/industries/energy/">energy stocks</a> to snap up before the next leg higher.&rdquo;



<h2>Air Products and Chemicals (APD)</h2>

The oversold giant caught strong support after plunging from about $285 to $246. It&rsquo;s even oversold on RSI, MACD and Williams&rsquo; %R, which tells us the pullback is greatly overdone. Better, the last time APD became this technically oversold, it bounced from about $226 to $285. A buy opportunity again now, I&rsquo;d like to see APD initially retest $285 near term.



Plus, while we wait for the recovery, we can collect its $1.77 dividend, payable Aug. 12 to shareholders of record as of July 1, which gives it a current yield of 2.82%. Even better, many analysts just raised their price targets on APD.



Bank of America analysts just <a href="https://thefly.com/news.php?symbol=APD">raised their price target</a> to $312. Deutsche Bank raised its price target to $310. Even BMO Capital raised its price target on APD to $263 from $250, with an outperform rating.&nbsp;



BMO added, &ldquo;With continued pricing, a more aggressive focus on cost-cutting, no major changes on the projects, and the corp. line likely to improve with the help of greater LNG equipment, we believe the stock will start to grind higher,&rdquo; <a href="https://www.investing.com/news/company-news/air-products-stock-target-raised-on-strong-quarter-performance-93CH-3411063">as quoted by Investing.com</a>.

The 3 Best Hydrogen Stocks to Buy in July 2024

Hydrogen energy remains a compelling alternative energy source, especially as we remain in an environment with elevated energy costs. There are a few ways to generate energy from hydrogen. For example, one way is less environmentally friendly and leverages the process of developing natural gas, which leaves a hydrogen byproduct that companies can use to make &ldquo;blue&rdquo; hydrogen. Green hydrogen solely relies on <a href="https://www.energy.gov/eere/fuelcells/hydrogen-production-electrolysis#:~:text=Electrolysis%20is%20the%20process%20of,a%20unit%20called%20an%20electrolyzer.">electrolysis</a> &ndash; the splitting of hydrogen atoms from water &ndash; to create the potent energy source.



<a href="https://investorplace.com/industries/energy/renewable-energy/hydrogen/">Hydrogen stocks</a> have not proven to be the best investments over the past 12 months, though. Oil prices coming down from record highs, as well as a lack of capital being deployed to hydrogen projects, have affected investors&rsquo; outlook on the sector. Rate cuts, however, could provide some of the juice hydrogen stocks have needed. Because producing green hydrogen is a capital-intensive process, lower interest rates on debt could spark a revitalization of the space. With that said, below are three hydrogen stocks to bet on for market-crushing returns.



<h2>Air Products (APD)</h2>

The firm has taken a <a href="https://investors.airproducts.com/static-files/40486de7-1bfd-42a7-ba36-984fb0b692af">dual approach</a> to its gas operations: on the one hand, developing gases, including oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen for the operations of various industrial companies, and on the other hand delivering clean hydrogen solutions to companies looking to decrease their carbon footprint. Air Products is also a key provider of liquified natural gas technology, which includes turbo machinery, membrane systems and cryogenic containers. In fiscal year 2023, ending on September 30th, 2023, Air Products generated $12.6 billion in sales, 45% of which came from North America and 23% of which came from EMEA and India.



Air Products&rsquo; share price took two separate major downswings after the company revealed dismal demand from Asia in its first-quarter earnings report for fiscal year 2024 and pricing power issues in its second-quarter report. However, APD appears to be on its way to recovery. Shares had tumbled more than 20% for the year in February, but now the stock is only down 7.9% on a year-to-date basis. The industrial gas firm&rsquo;s relatively low 20.1x forward earnings multiple makes a potential investment even more enticing.



<h2>Bloom Energy (BE)</h2>

The firm leverages this technology to create fuel cells that other businesses can use for on-site power generation. Companies in a variety of industries have sought to decrease their carbon footprint, and for some of them, investing in hydrogen energy technologies makes an attractive long-term investment.



The company, like many pure-play hydrogen stocks in the space, has suffered from a lack of demand and investment from its customers, who are also trying to keep costs down. First-quarter earnings for fiscal year 2024 were, again, emblematic of Bloom Energy&rsquo;s current struggles, with both revenue and gross margins <a href="https://investor.bloomenergy.com/press-releases/press-release-details/2024/Bloom-Energy-Reports-First-Quarter-2024-Financial-Results/default.aspx">in decline</a> on a year-over-year basis.



A recent silver lining has been Bloom&rsquo;s ability to raise capital in this uncertain economic environment. The company had been hoping to raise $250 million in green convertible notes, but capital markets seemed to have more confidence in Bloom Energy, and the hydrogen company walked away with <a href="https://investor.bloomenergy.com/press-releases/press-release-details/2024/Bloom-Energy-Corporation-Prices-Upsized-350.0-Million-Green-Convertible-Senior-Notes-Offering/default.aspx">$350 million in green convertible notes</a> priced at a rate of 3% annual coupon. With that kind of capital added to Bloom Energy&rsquo;s $515.9 million cash balance, the company should have ample room to commit to new investments, even as customers are reticent to buy for now. 



<h2>Global X Hydrogen ETF (HYDR)</h2>

The ETF manages $42.7 million in assets, investing in hydrogen production, hydrogen fuel cells, hydrogen technology and hydrogen integration businesses. According to Koyfin, HYDR has 29 holdings, and many of them are those pure-play hydrogen businesses that are deeply committed to the space and have the potential to surge in price, as the macro environment clears up.



Of course, investors should think hard about when they would like to invest in HYDR, given shares have fallen 22% on a year-to-date basis. Interest rate cuts could be a big deal for the space, especially given that it&rsquo;s quite capital intensive. After the release of several promising macroeconomic data points, Federal Reserve <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-07-15/traders-add-to-bets-on-fed-rate-cuts-after-goldman-sachs-view">rate cut bets</a> are back on the rise, and this could help fuel HYDR and its hydrogen stocks in the near term.
