I just don&#8217;t want to trade away the amount of time I&#8217;d have to spend fooling around to get familiar with the—and get title to—and do all the things, the rest of the things, pick one out, saw a new car," Buffett said during the event. "But if there&#8217;s a safer car made, I&#8217;ll be driving in it."

According to Louis Navellier of Navellier &amp; Associates, &#8220;Tariffs are steering the boat again.&#8221;
He said that Trump&#8217;s announcement of the U.S. striking a comprehensive agreement with the U.K. and Scott Bessent&#8217;s announcement of a meeting in Switzerland with China to discuss tariffs are propelling the market.
&#8220;This helps explain the long recovery rally since the Liberation Day announcement of tariffs on April 2nd. The fear of missing out on favorable agreements being reached has limited the number of sellers,&#8221; he said.
He added, &#8220;The upside story will be that the tariff agreements will result in mutually low tariffs, which should be generally beneficial for U.S. exporters, as Trump has contended all along.&#8221;
He also said that Trump announcing a definitive deal with the U.K. is an &#8220;important first step in reducing tariff fears.&#8221;
Meanwhile, Ed Yardeni or Yardeni Research agreed with the sentiment and added, &#8220;President Donald Trump will need to declare victories in his trade wars with multiple countries around the world sooner rather than later.&#8221;
Yardeni also explained that Trump and his fellow Republicans have to avoid a recession caused by his tariff wars. Otherwise, they risk losing their thin majorities in both houses of Congress later in 2026, as per Yardeni.
&#8220;The correction in the S&amp;P 500 that started on February 19 ended on April 8. The S&amp;P 500 now has regained almost all its losses since the April 2 close, just before it tanked during the Annihilation Days on April 3 and April 4,&#8221; he said.
According to Yardeni, the stock market will soon have &#8220;deals fatigue and tire of Trump&#8217;s declarations of victory.&#8221;
&#8220;We think the trade issue will be behind us by July or August. If so, then the focus should be on how much Trump&#8217;s tariff skirmishes weighed on the economy and earnings. We expect both will remain surprisingly resilient,&#8221; he added.

Crude oil futures were trading higher in the early New York session by 1.59% to hover around $60.86 per barrel.
Gold Spot US Dollar rose 0.65% to hover around $3,327.68 per ounce. Its last record high stood at $3,500.33 per ounce. The U.S. Dollar Index spot was lower by 0.26% at the 100.3830 level.
Asian markets were mixed on Friday as India's S&amp;P BSE Sensex, South Korea's Kospi, and China&#8217;s CSI 300 index fell. While Japan's Nikkei 225, Australia's ASX 200, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose. European markets were higher in early trade.

US Stock Futures Flicker Between Gains And Losses After Strong Three-Day Run: 'Tariffs Are Steering The Boat Again,' Says Expert

The U.S. and U.K. sealed a bilateral trade deal Wednesday, cutting tariffs, boosting industrial ties and securing billions <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/tariffs">in new market access</a>. 
The announcement came during a White House press conference where President Donald Trump unveiled the agreement alongside UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. 
Among the highlights: The U.S. will slash tariffs on UK-made cars, while the U.K. will reduce tariffs on ethanol imported from the U.S. to zero.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Tariffs Slashed On Autos, Beef and Steel</h3>
Among the most consequential elements of the pact: the U.S. will cut tariffs on UK-made cars from 25% to 10%, granting British automakers a quota of 100,000 vehicles annually. In return, the UK will eliminate tariffs on American cars like those from General Motors Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GM#NYSE">GM</a>) and Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/F#NYSE">F</a>), and fast-track US exports through customs.
The auto provision alone could support tens of thousands of jobs across the UK manufacturing sector. 
"The UK is the fourth largest export market for the U.S." said US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.
Lutnick indicated that the US-UK agreement could add over $5 billion in new opportunities for American exporters — particularly in agriculture and heavy industry — while protecting domestic jobs. "This is what happens when you have a dealmaker in the room," he said. "What would've taken years took 45 days."
Additionally, U.S. tariffs on UK steel — previously set at 25% — will be reduced.
The U.S. and UK agreed to reduce tariffs on beef imports and exports to near-zero levels.
Currently, U.S. tariffs on British beef range from 4% to 26%, while the U.K. imposes up to 20% on American beef. Those barriers now come down dramatically. Trump described it as "billions of dollars of increased market access for American exports."
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Industrial And Aerospace Wins</h3>
Beyond cars and cattle, the deal unlocks new opportunities in industrial goods, machinery, chemicals and aerospace. 
Rolls-Royce Holdings will now be able to export jet engines to Boeing Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BA#NYSE">BA</a>) tariff-free. In return, a major UK airline is expected to announce a $10 billion purchase of Boeing aircraft later this week.
Shares of Boeing and Rolls Royce rallied over 2% on the news. 
Trump praised the agreement as a new model for international commerce, saying it underscores "reciprocity and fairness as vital principles of global trade." 
Starmer called it a "fantastic, historic day.&#8221; The deal, finalized almost 80 years to the hour after Victory in Europe Day, aims to preserve and create jobs on both sides of the Atlantic.
"Economic security is national security," Starmer said. "Now we take this into the territory of trade and the economy — and it builds on our unparalleled intelligence, defense and diplomatic partnership."
The trade pact also includes provisions for stronger export controls, supply chain protections, and collaborative standards for strategic industries — particularly steel, pharmaceuticals and aviation.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">First Deal After Tariff Pause, More Coming Soon</h3>
This UK agreement marks the first breakthrough since Trump paused his sweeping global tariffs for a 90-day negotiation window in early April. 
"We are very close to more deals," he said, noting that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is heading to Switzerland to negotiate with China. 
"They want to make a deal," Trump said, also teasing progress on trade talks with the European Union.
&#8220;We&#8217;d like to see China opened up so we can compete in China,&#8221; Trump said. 
The President also indicated that the 10% baseline tariff applied to the UK won&#8217;t be a template for future deals. 
&#8220;That&#8217;s a low number, they made a good deal. Many [countries] will be much higher [tariffs] because they have massive trade surpluses,&#8221; he said.

House Republicans could eliminate the federal EV credit program as the GOP Representatives consider ways to implement President Donald Trump's tax cut package.

The program, which has been around for years, offers incentives of up to $7,500 on all EV purchases. The report suggests that the initially projected $12.5 billion cost in 2022 could balloon further, with experts cited in the report predicting the scheme could cost $200 billion over the next decade.
Why It Matters: The news comes in as the U.S. is seeing more adoption of EVs across the country. The sector saw a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/44755934/us-q1-ev-sales-data-shows-106-yoy-growth-tesla-experiences-decline-but-still-dominates-domestic-ev-sales">10.6% YoY growth</a> in cumulative sales in Q1 2025, highlighting increased preference for EVs among drivers.
Several auto manufacturers in the country had previously sounded out calls to the Trump administration to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/25/02/43648415/tesla-rivals-call-for-gradual-elimination-of-ev-tax-credits-many-of-those-jobs-will-be-at-risk">gradually phase out EV credits</a> rather than ending the scheme at once.&nbsp;
The proposed halt could have lasting effects on companies like Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>), General Motors Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GM#NYSE">GM</a>) and Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/F#NYSE">F</a>), as the EV tax credit has been used by manufacturers as an incentive to boost sales.
Elon Musk's EV giant <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/44802015/us-electric-vehicle-sales-up-11-in-q1-as-tesla-declines-the-winners-and-losers">remains a market leader</a> in the U.S. EV sector with over 43.5% segment share. However, there has been a decline in sales for the company both domestically as well as in other markets like Europe.
Elsewhere, the proposed halt could also hamper Jeff Bezos-backed Slate Auto's plans to launch a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/25/05/45185245/slate-auto-secures-111m-from-jeff-bezos-and-guggenheims-mark-walter-to-build-20k-electric-truck-challenging-teslas-market-dominance">$20,000 EV pickup truck</a>, the pricing for which would also rely on the federal EV credit.
