As the most powerful investors in the world are loading up on <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/energy">energy </a>investments following President-elect Donald Trump&#8217;s victory, this investor highlights a profitable and lower-risk oil and gas play that is &#8220;set to outperform all the rest.&#8221;
What Happened: Warren Buffett holds <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/content/42715498/buffett-takes-the-bait-berkshire-buys-more-oxy-in-december">$13.15 billion worth</a> of Occidental Petroleum (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/OXY#NYSE">OXY</a>) as of the third quarter of this fiscal year. According to 13F filings, Carl Icahn owns <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/insights/news/25/01/42755511/positive-signal-carl-icahn-shows-faith-buying-339k-in-cvr-partners-stock">$1.53 billion worth</a> of CVR Energy Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CV#NYSE">CV</a>) as of Q3. Meanwhile, billionaire Ken Griffin boosted his holdings in certain <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/asia/22/11/29831732/ken-griffins-hedge-fund-increased-its-stake-by-over-150-in-these-2-dividend-paying-energy-stocks">oil stocks by 150%</a> in 2023.
However, Marc Lichtenfeld, the chief income strategist at the Oxford Club, on Monday revealed a little-known oil strategy that first caught the attention of Buffett's partner, Charlie Munger, in 1962. He explains, &#8220;It has nothing to do with oil futures, ETFs, or stocks. Yet the returns can be MUCH bigger.&#8221;
Lichtenfeld describes oil and gas royalties as a &#8220;backdoor way&#8221; to earn recurring payments from oil fields without the usual costs of exploration, labor, or transportation. &#8220;Instead, you simply collect incredible royalty streams for owning a very valuable asset… the oil or gas field. It's the ultimate passive income investment,&#8221; he says.
Before his passing, Munger <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/24/05/38619559/charlie-munger-and-a-friend-each-made-70-000-per-year-from-a-1-000-investment-60-years-ago-rakin">earned $70,000 annually</a> from an investment of just $1,000 made more than six decades ago.

Why It Matters: Highly regulated industries are likely to benefit under Trump&#8217;s administration due to his proposed deregulation efforts. This includes the creation of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, aimed at cutting the government&#8217;s wasteful spending.
Lichtenfeld highlights that oil and gas royalties offer lower risk than traditional energy stocks. While conventional oil companies face operational challenges and heavy debt, royalties provide a more stable investment.
&#8220;It's a perfect investment during times of high inflation, like right now. In Texas, they call oil royalties &#8216;mailbox money,&#8217; because you walk out, open up the mailbox, and the check is there. It's as easy as it gets,&#8221; he says.
Lichtenfeld also underscores the investment potential of Permian Basin royalties, noting that other U.S. basins are nearing the end of their productive life, while the Permian is at peak production.
&#8220;Unlike with Occidental, you're not investing in a high-capital company that needs to drill, extract, transport, or store any product. You simply collect royalties from this superstar basin. It's a win-win,&#8221; he adds.

What Are Experts Saying: According to Mario Georgiou, the executive director and head of investments at InCred Global Wealth, "Deregulation supporting oil production and geopolitical risks could sustain elevated oil prices and relative valuations are attractive."
"Fundamentally, (energy) companies are shareholder friendly with 8-12% shareholder yields, have strong balance sheets with low net debt to EBITDA ratios and high free cash flow yields of 6.50% and above," he adds.
According to JPMorgan, oil prices could reach a "stratospheric" $380 a barrel.
As per Morgan Stanley, the energy sector faces a divided future. Trump's deregulation could benefit traditional energy, but the outlook for oil is uncertain due to potential oversupply and weak global demand, especially from China. In contrast, natural gas may see growth from strong European demand and increased domestic use for electrification and AI-powered data centers.

As Warren Buffett And Other Billionaires Load Up On Energy Stocks, This Analyst Highlights Charlie Munger's 1962 Oil Investment Which Can 'Outperform All The Rest'

Niu Technologies (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NIU#NASDAQ">NIU</a>) shares are trading higher premarket on Monday after the company disclosed its sales volume results for the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/01/g42808251/niu-technologies-provides-fourth-quarter-and-full-year-2024-sales-volume-update" rel="noreferrer noopener">fourth quarter and full year 2024</a>.
In the fourth quarter, the company sold a total of 226,634 units, comprising e-motorcycles, e-mopeds, e-bikes, kick-scooters, and e-bikes.
Of these, 182,333 units were sold in China, while 44,301 units were sold in international markets.
For the full year of 2024, the company sold 924,340 units, with 759,094 units sold in China and 165,246 units sold in international markets.
The company witnessed a 65% year-over-year growth in the quarter, fueled by the successful launch of new models and the fulfillment of third-quarter backlog orders after new battery and electric system safety standards were implemented in late October.
The newly launched models, designed to appeal to diverse consumer segments, made up over 70% of the quarterly sales.
Niu&#8217;s micro-mobility segment performed well, with a 65% year-over-year growth in the fourth quarter and a 57% increase for the full year.
Last week, Niu Technologies launched its nationwide direct-to-consumer (D2C) sales platform for its off-road and on-road dirt bikes, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/12/g42262847/niu-launches-direct-to-consumer-sales-of-its-xqi3-all-electric-on-and-off-road-dirt-bike" rel="noreferrer noopener">the XQi3 Wild and XQi3 Street</a>.
Price Action: NIU shares are up 6.21% at $1.88 premarket at the last check Monday.

Niu Technologies Zooms Ahead: Q4 Sales Volume Soar 65% As New Models Electrify The Market

Analysts expect Constellation Brands, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/STZ#NYSE">STZ</a>) to report third-quarter earnings of $3.32 per share before the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/STZ/earnings">opening bell, on Thursday, Jan. 9.</a>
That&#8217;s up from $3.19 per share in the year-ago period. 
The Rochester, New York-based company projects quarterly revenue of $2.54 billion, compared to $2.47 billion a year earlier, according to data from <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga Pro</a>.
On Dec. 3, Constellation Brands reached an agreement with global spirits company Sazerac, to divest its Svedka brand.
With the recent buzz around Constellation Brands, some investors may be eyeing potential gains from the company's dividends, too. As of now, Constellation Brands offers an annual dividend yield of 1.82%, which is a quarterly dividend amount of $1.01 per share ($4.04 a year).
So, how can investors exploit its dividend yield to pocket a regular $500 monthly?
To earn $500 per month or $6,000 annually from dividends alone, you would need an investment of approximately $329,551 or around 1,485 shares. For a more modest $100 per month or $1,200 per year, you would need $65,910 or around 297 shares.
To calculate: Divide the desired annual income ($6,000 or $1,200) by the dividend ($4.04 in this case). So, $6,000 / $4.04 = 1,485 ($500 per month), and $1,200 / $4.04 = 297 shares ($100 per month).
Note that dividend yield can change on a rolling basis, as the dividend payment and the stock price both fluctuate over time.
How that works: The dividend yield is computed by dividing the annual dividend payment by the stock&#8217;s current price.
For example, if a stock pays an annual dividend of $2 and is currently priced at $50, the dividend yield would be 4% ($2/$50). However, if the stock price increases to $60, the dividend yield drops to 3.33% ($2/$60). Conversely, if the stock price falls to $40, the dividend yield rises to 5% ($2/$40).
Similarly, changes in the dividend payment can impact the yield. If a company increases its dividend, the yield will also increase, provided the stock price stays the same. Conversely, if the dividend payment decreases, so will the yield.
STZ Price Action: Shares of Constellation fell 0.3% to close at $221.92 on Friday.
