A March Emerson College <a href="https://emersoncollegepolling.com/march-2025-national-poll/">poll </a>of registered voters showed that Trump's job approval rating <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/02/43847433/trump-approval-rating-declines-in-february-unpopular-domestic-and-foreign-policy-ideas">remained unchanged </a>at 49% with his disapproval rating going up one percentage point to 43%.
One of the factors that could be hurting Trump's approval rating is his handling of the war between Russia and Ukraine. Of the voters polled, 44% disapprove of Trump's handling of the war between the two countries, with 41% approving and 15% neutral.
Approval of Trump's handling of the Russia-Ukraine war was split by party with 73% of Republicans approving, 76% of Democrats disapproving and 46% of Independents disapproving versus 35% approval.
Overall, 41% of voters said Trump's handling of foreign policy was poor, with 15% ranking his handling fair, 18% said good and 26% said excellent.
A tense meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy drew mixed reactions in the poll.
"Which country do you believe walked away the winner from the Oval Office meeting between Ukrainian President Zelenskyy and American President Trump?" the poll asked.
Overall, 46% of voters said neither the U.S. or Ukraine was the winner, with 35% saying the U.S. was the winner and 15% saying Ukraine was the winner. Four percent said both countries were equal winners.
One of the more telling results from the poll could have been a question about increased global wars.
"How likely do you think it is that a world war breaks out in the next four year?" the poll asked.
The poll found that 55% of voters think a world war is likely or somewhat likely in the next four years while 45% said it is not very likely or not at all likely.
The results for the question were mostly divided by age with the 18-29 age demographic having 70% saying it is very likely or somewhat likely. Of the age demographics, only the 60-69 and 70 and older had less than 50% of voters say a world war is not likely or somewhat likely in the next four years.

The poll found that 55% of voters think Ukraine will likely have to give up some land to Russia. Seventeen percent believe Ukraine will become part of Russia.
A positive for Trump from the poll is 45% of voters saying the U.S. has given too much aid to Ukraine, while only 22% believe the U.S. has given too little aid to Ukraine. The remaining 33% said it was the right amount given.
While Trump has painted Zelenskyy in a negative fashion, the poll found that he has high favorable ratings among U.S. voters. Zelenskyy has a 45% favorable rating from U.S. voters compared to a 12% favorable rating for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Among voters, 66% of Democrats view Zelenskyy favorably, followed by 42% of Independents and 28% of Republicans.
While the current negotiations between Ukraine, Russia and the U.S. will be a big foreign policy issue for Trump, voters said the top issues remain the economy, threats to democracy, immigration and health care.
