Stock indices in England, France, and Germany have made new all-time highs in 2025, outpacing the modest gains from US stocks. The Vanguard FTSE Europe ETF is up more than 8% over the last three months, while the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF has traded flat.

The Stoxx 600 index, which covers markets across the bloc, made several new all-time highs in February, led by a surge from the defense sector. Is this finally the year that European stocks beat their American counterparts? With the United States threatening to pull back from Europe, these tailwinds may have more room to run, especially if the EU follows through on defense spending expansion.
Today we'll look at six European stocks that could continue outperforming in 2025. Some of these companies are available to US investors through American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) or on over-the-counter (OTC) exchanges, so be sure to understand how these assets and markets function before putting any capital to work.

Danish healthcare giant Novo Nordisk is responsible for Wegovy and Ozempic, two of the prescription GLP-1 medications taking the world by storm. Both are different forms of semaglutide, as Wegovy is FDA-approved for weight loss while Ozempic is only approved for Type 2 diabetes. Demand for these drugs has been so strong that shortages have been common, but the FDA recently announced that Wegovy and Ozempic are no longer on their shortage list.

Novo Nordisk suffered a lost year in 2024 during the shortage, losing ground to Eli Lilly's Mounjaro and Zepbound. However, the company is still the top player in the GLP-1 space and posted solid revenue (8.1%) and earnings (9.6%) growth in the most recent report for Q4 2024.
The company's margins are also the envy of European drug makers: 34.8% gross, far outpacing EU competitors AstraZeneca (13%) and Roche (17.5%). NVO also sits on a formidable $9.8 billion cash pile. NVO shares have been choppy since the start of 2025, but the company issued strong guidance and is well-positioned to rebound after a rough 2024.

Unilever is a global consumer and household products company that markets itself under popular brands such as Ben and Jerry's, Axe, Dove, Breyers, Vaseline, and many more. The firm has offices in over 80 countries, but its headquarters has been in London for more than 100 years.

Uncertainty is beginning to weigh on investors as US consumer discretionary stocks have been tumbling for most of February while consumer staples surge higher. Airbus is under the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Co. (EADS) umbrella and has a market cap of $139 billion, nearly $33 billion more than its closest competitor, Safran SA. Airbus has a cheaper valuation than Safran or Rheinmetall and a healthier free cash flow pile ($3.9 billion). Airbus might not be lagging in the European defense sector for much longer.

BNP Paribas is attractive for several reasons, none more so than the 7.03 forward P/E ratio and 1.22 P/S ratio. The stock is up more than 38% in the last three months alone, but the fundamentals are strong, and the stock is comfortably above its 50-day and 200-day moving averages with a Relative Strength Index (RSI) reading of 55.

European Aviation Safety Agency Certifies Airbus A321XLR With Pratt & Whitney GTF Engines, Paving the Way For Entry Into Service

Airbus SE (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/EADSY#OTC">EADSY</a>) reported fourth-quarter <a href="https://www.airbus.com/en/investors/financial-results" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">revenue </a>rising 8% year-over-year to 24.716 billion euros, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings">above the consensus of 24.567 billion euros.</a>
EBIT Adjusted for the quarter rose by 16%, driven by higher commercial aircraft deliveries, reduced R&amp;D expenses, and strong performance in Airbus Helicopters&#8217; programs and services.
Earning per share was 3.07 euros, up from 1.85 euros YoY, beating the consensus of 2.43 euros.
Quarterly sales by segments: Airbus 17.767 billion euros (+9% YoY), Airbus Helicopters 3.066 billion euros (+15% YoY), and Airbus Defence and Space 4.473 billion euros (+3% YoY).

2024 Segment Performance: Airbus Helicopters&#8217; revenue grew 8% to 7.9 billion euros with 361 deliveries (2023: 346), while Airbus Defence and Space revenue increased 5% to 12.1 billion euros, supported by Air Power, with seven A400M deliveries.
Airbus stated that the A320 Family ramp-up continues, targeting 75 aircraft per month by 2027, while A330 production stabilizes at four per month. Supply chain challenges, especially with Spirit AeroSystems, are impacting A350 and A220 ramp-ups.
The A350 targets 12 per month by 2028, with its freighter variant now expected in H2 2027, while the A220 aims for 14 per month in 2026.
The company recorded a 121 million euro charge for the A400M program due to contract updates and production risks. The company is evaluating order impacts on manufacturing, while technical qualification risks remain stable from 2023.
Dividend: The company stated that its Board will propose a 2.00 euro per share dividend and a 1.00 euro special dividend for 2024, with payment set for April 24, 2025, pending approval at the April 15 AGM.

The commercial aerospace sector is gaining altitude, driven by surging demand for passenger travel, robust freight activity, and a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/expert-ideas">resurgence in aircraft orders</a>.
According to Goldman Sachs analyst Noah Poponak, CFA, air traffic recovery is exceeding expectations, with growth now outpacing GDP by more than double. 
The sector&#8217;s strong fundamentals, buoyed by tight supply chains and rising aftermarket revenues, are positioning key aerospace stocks for a significant takeoff.
Here&#8217;s what you need to know — and the top stocks analysts say you should have on your radar.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Air Traffic Surpasses Pre-Pandemic Levels</h3>
&#8220;The overall commercial aerospace market is fundamentally strong,&#8221; said Poponak in a note Thursday. 
Global passenger traffic continues its remarkable climb as international air traffic jumped 9% year-over-year (yoy) in September, following an 11% yoy increase in August, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Passenger capacity rose in lockstep, up 9% and 10% yoy, respectively.
Goldman Sachs forecasts another 9% yoy gain for October based on airline reports. 
Forward airline schedules indicate that global passenger capacity will grow by 6% to 7% year-over-year through November, December, and January, reflecting sustained demand as travel appetite remains strong.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Freight Market Delivers Double-Digit Growth</h3>
The recovery isn't limited to passengers. International freight traffic surged 11% yoy in September, following a 12% yoy gain in August, with freight capacity expanding by 8% yoy in both months. 
Major cargo players FedEx Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FDX#NYSE">FDX</a>) and United Parcel Service Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UPS#NYSE">UPS</a>) also saw gains, with UPS reporting 11% yoy growth and FedEx posting a 3% yoy increase in global air cargo traffic.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Boeing, Airbus Rack Up Orders</h3>
Large commercial jet manufacturers are riding the wave of demand. In October alone, Boeing Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BA#NYSE">BA</a>) secured 63 new orders, while Airbus SE (OTCPK: EADSY) booked 82 aircraft orders—both with zero cancellations. 
&#8220;New aircraft order campaigning activity appears to remain robust, for both growth and replacement,&#8221; Poponak wrote. 
Parked aircraft, which currently make up 11.8% of the total global fleet, remained flat month-over-month, further reflecting high utilization levels as airlines capitalize on the recovery in passenger and freight traffic.

Goldman Sachs&#8217; Poponak highlighted 11 buy-rated stocks that stand to benefit from the industry's resurgence. These include large aircraft manufacturers, component suppliers, and business jet producers.
