What Happened:&nbsp;Ethereum co-founder&nbsp;Vitalik Buterin&nbsp;proposed the digital currency via a 2014 white paper, with the goal of adding scripting to make it easier for application development and to&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/21/09/22811912/5-things-you-might-not-know-about-ethereum-creator-vitalik-buterin-3" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">set up binding contracts.</a>
Ethereum was officially launched on July 30, 2015. During its first calendar year, Ethereum traded between $0.42 and $1.39 with a starting price of around $0.74, according to <a href="https://www.sofi.com/learn/content/ethereum-price-history/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">SoFi</a>. The first Ethereum transaction was carried out on Aug. 7, 2015, <a href="https://www.globaldata.com/data-insights/financial-services/ethereums-price-history/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">according </a>to Global Data.
Ethereum gained momentum thanks to its listing on cryptocurrency platform Coinbase Global Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/COIN#NASDAQ">COIN</a>). It became the second-ever cryptocurrency, after Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>), to be listed on the platform.
Over the years, several major events and updates have occurred in Ethereum, including the fork of Ethereum 2.0 and the creation of Ethereum Classic (CRYPTO: ETC).
Ethereum saw increased attention and a surge in valuation related to the boom of non-fungible tokens in 2021. Many of the NFTs were built on the Ethereum blockchain, including CryptoPunks  and Bored Ape Yacht Club. A record sale of a Beeple NFT <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/21/03/20134939/beeple-nft-sold-for-a-record-69-million" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">created interest in NFTs </a>and Ethereum.
Today, Ethereum is the second most valuable cryptocurrency with a market capitalization of $431.7 billion.

Investing $1,000 in Ethereum: An investment in the second-largest cryptocurrency, the year it launched, would have generated a strong return for investors.
While it was initially more challenging to invest in Ethereum before its inclusion on major cryptocurrency exchanges, investors could purchase the cryptocurrency after its launch.
Based on a starting price of $0.74, an investor could have purchased 1,351.35 ETH at the time of launch.
The $1,000 investment in Ethereum at launch would be worth $4,824,062.74 today based on a price of $3,569.81 at the time of writing.
At its all-time high of $4,815 set in November 2021, the $1,000 investment in Ethereum at the time of launch would have been worth $6,506,750.25.
Ethereum has traded between $1,386.80 and $4,106.96 over the last 52 weeks. There is no guarantee that the cryptocurrency will return to yearly or all-time highs.
While many missed out on investing in Ethereum in the early days, the exercise shows that sometimes investing a small amount in a high-conviction idea can have a huge payout in the future.

Chris Koopmans has been elevated to president, while Sandeep Bharathi has been named president of the company&#8217;s Data Center Group. Both executives will report directly to Matt Murphy, Marvell&#8217;s <a href="https://app.quotemedia.com/data/downloadFiling?webmasterId=101533&amp;ref=319307113&amp;type=HTML&amp;symbol=MRVL&amp;cdn=a9d5cd7e414d4a656d39e5ac0131183d&amp;companyName=Marvell+Technology+Inc.&amp;formType=8-K&amp;dateFiled=2025-07-17" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">chair and CEO</a>.

He will now broaden his responsibilities to include Worldwide Sales, Corporate Development and Strategy. He will continue to lead global business operations, overseeing Marvell&#8217;s end-to-end revenue execution—from go-to-market strategy and customer engagement to operations and long-term growth planning. Koopmans has held several leadership positions at Marvell, including executive VP of Business Operations (2018–2019) and executive VP of Marketing and Business Operations (2019–2021), where he played a key role in the company&#8217;s corporate transformation.
Bharathi, Marvell&#8217;s chief development officer since June 2022, will now head the entire Data Center Group. His new role includes leadership of the Custom Cloud Services, Connectivity, Data Center Switch, and Cloud Optics business units. He will also continue to oversee Data Center Engineering and Central Engineering, providing strategic direction and cross-functional coordination across Marvell&#8217;s full data center portfolio. Bharathi previously held senior engineering roles at the company, including Executive Vice President of Central Engineering System-On-Chip Group and Senior Vice President of Central Engineering.
Marvell stock has plunged 35% year-to-date, lagging behind the NASDAQ Composite Index&#8217;s over 8% gains, as concerns about the Trump administration&#8217;s tariff policy and macroeconomic uncertainties weigh on the stock. On March 5, the company missed the&nbsp;topline and bottom-line guidance&nbsp;in the fourth quarter, leading to a 17% plunge in stock price. Marvell reported adjusted earnings of 60 cents per share, beating the 59-cent consensus estimate. Quarterly revenue came in at $1.81 billion, which beat the $1.79 billion analyst consensus estimate. Marvell said it expects first-quarter revenue in a range of $1.78 billion to $1.96 billion, versus the $1.87 billion estimate. Multiple Wall Street analysts <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/MRVL/analyst-ratings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">slashed their price forecasts</a> on the stock after the dismal results.
On May 29, Marvell reported <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/05/45681892/marvell-technology-stock-slips-after-q1-results-details" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">quarterly adjusted earnings</a> of $0.62 per share, which beat the Street estimate of $0.61. Quarterly revenue came in at $1.9 billion, which beat the consensus estimate of $1.88 billion. Marvell expects second-quarter net revenue of $2 billion, plus or minus 5%. It followed multiple <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/25/05/45700771/marvell-technology-analysts-slash-their-forecasts-after-q1-earnings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">price forecast cuts</a> on the stock. 
However, analysts from KeyBanc, Benchmark and UBS noted that Marvell&#8217;s <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings/price-target/25/05/45702643/marvell-analysts-back-steady-outlook-point-to-data-center-strength-ai-momentum" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">growing data-center</a> and AI momentum, anchored by deals with AWS and Microsoft, provides a solid foundation despite broader market volatility.
Price Action: MRVL stock was trading 0.68% higher at $72.50 premarket as of last check on Friday.

Marvell Reshuffles Leadership As It Looks To Reignite Momentum, Rebuild Investor Confidence (CORRECTED)

Nvidia (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/nvidia">stock is taking a hit</a> Friday as a U.S. government decision to permit the chip giant to resume sales of its H20 AI chips to China faces strong opposition from House Select Committee on China Chairman John Moolenaar. 
This move, seen by some as a boost to China&#8217;s AI ambitions, comes amid broader national security concerns that are also delaying a multi-billion dollar AI chip deal between the U.S. and the United Arab Emirates, highlighting the increasingly complex geopolitical landscape impacting the semiconductor industry.
Moolenaar warned Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick that the move could boost China&#8217;s AI capabilities and help its firms gain global market share, Reuters reported on Friday.

In a letter sent Friday, Moolenaar criticized the reversal of the April export ban, which aimed to keep cutting-edge U.S. AI chips out of Chinese hands due to national security risks.
Nvidia confirmed earlier this week that the U.S. government had authorized renewed H20 chip sales to China. The chipmaker called the product a significant revenue source.
Lutnick stated Tuesday that the H20 chip decision was linked to ongoing negotiations with China over rare earths and magnets.
The Select Committee&#8217;s April report noted that Nvidia&#8217;s H20 chips were key in enabling a surprising AI model developed by China&#8217;s DeepSeek. Moolenaar also cited Tencent&#8217;s (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TCEHY#OTC">TCEHY</a>) use of H20s to train large-scale AI systems.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Concerns and Delays in the UAE Deal</h2>
Beyond the China sales, Nvidia is facing additional scrutiny due to national security concerns that are holding up a significant chip deal with the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This deal, which would enable the UAE to acquire billions of dollars&#8217; worth of Nvidia AI chips, is facing pushback from some Trump administration officials. Their primary apprehension is that Chinese firms could gain indirect access to this advanced technology through the agreement, the Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/politics/national-security/national-security-concerns-tie-up-trumps-u-a-e-chips-deal-a0273815" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">reported</a> on Wednesday.
Although President Trump had endorsed the deal during a May visit to the Middle East, the terms have yet to be finalized. A key sticking point is G42, an Abu Dhabi-based AI firm slated to receive approximately 20% of the chips. U.S. officials are concerned that G42, due to its historical ties and collaborations with Chinese entities, could serve as a conduit for China to obtain restricted semiconductors.
For the time being, the Commerce Department intends to block shipments to G42, despite Secretary Lutnick&#8217;s public expression of confidence in the deal&#8217;s future. Analysts say this internal disagreement, amid fears that Huawei could fill the vacuum, highlights how export controls on AI chips have become a geopolitical flashpoint.
While some officials, like White House AI czar David Sacks, advocate for proceeding with the UAE agreement to maintain U.S. leadership in the global AI race, others are pushing for stricter restrictions before moving forward. The prevailing lack of clarity regarding chip limits and export rules continues to fuel broader uncertainty across the entire semiconductor industry.

The second path to building a life you never want to retire from is more practical for many people. It involves establishing a reliable source of income, through something like waitressing or working in retail, that will pay the bills while you pursue your passion on the side.&nbsp;
&#8220;Elizabeth Gilbert talked about this in her book &#8216;Big Magic,'" Han said. "You have a cash cow and you also have your passions. They don&#8217;t have to be the same thing. It&#8217;s like being the lawyer who has a rock band on the weekends.&#8221;

&#8220;The overall emphasis on money and the accumulation of money has just gotten out of hand, because capitalism has gotten out of hand,&#8221; she said. &#8220;It&#8217;s taken us away from what really, really matters, which is time with our loved ones and relationships.&#8221;
These days, Han chooses to spend her free time doing things like hanging out with her boyfriend or camping with their dog, rather than chasing down that next million.

Carpenter noted Roku appears well-positioned to outperform expectations, with stable advertising spending in the second quarter and easing China tariffs providing a supportive backdrop.
The analyst pointed out that Roku chose not to raise its 2025 Platform revenue guidance last quarter, even after acquiring Frndly, potentially to leave room for macroeconomic uncertainties.
However, Carpenter now sees that approach as overly cautious and foresees Roku reflecting Frndly's estimated $40 million second-half revenue in its updated outlook.
He also highlighted the upcoming Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>) DSP partnership, likely launching in the fourth quarter, as another potential boost to 2025 Platform revenue, which he believes wasn't factored into earlier guidance.
Carpenter raised his Platform revenue growth estimate to 15% for the second quarter and 14% for full-year 2025, both above Roku's official guidance of 14% and 12%, respectively.
This apart, the analyst noted that Roku's first-quarter guidance factored in some macroeconomic softness, but advertising spend held steady in the second quarter.
Per Carpenter, this stability is likely to drive a slight upside in Platform revenue.
As a result, he raised his adjusted EBITDA estimate for the second quarter from $70 million to $73 million, modestly above the company's guidance of $70 million and reflecting the expected revenue improvement.

Roku Set For Q2 Spotlight As Ad Resilience, Frndly Boost, Amazon Deal Fuel Investor Optimism

Resource portfolio supports electric reliability, grid resilience and economic growth
Xcel Energy has announced new generation resource additions as part of an overall portfolio to meet the rapidly rising energy needs of its Texas and New Mexico service area. The portfolio includes extensions of 521 megawatts of existing generation as well as the addition of 17 new power projects that will add 5,168 megawatts of new nameplate capacity to the region's generation fleet by 2030. Technologies selected include 3,200 megawatts of dispatchable generation and energy storage and 1,968 megawatts of wind and solar facilities, establishing the foundation for long-term system reliability, economic development and a resilient energy supply.
The region's electricity demand is expected to grow by more than 40% by 2030, driven by population growth, industrial expansion and increased electrification. New planning reserve margin requirements from the Southwest Power Pool further raise the bar, with utilities now required to have more capacity to meet increasing seasonal demand.
In 2024, Xcel Energy invited developers to submit proposals for new power projects using any type of technology. This open and competitive process resulted in a diverse mix of energy solutions, including wind, solar, battery storage and gas power sources. The projects will be developed through a variety of ownership structures. Some will be built and owned by Xcel Energy, others built by developers and then sold to the company, and some operated under long-term agreements to purchase the power they produce. The portfolio also includes extending the lives of existing natural gas units at Nichols, Maddox, and Plant X, which supports reliability and lowers overall costs of the portfolio.
The portfolio supports Xcel Energy's broader five-year investment plan for Texas and New Mexico, announced in October 2024, which will modernize and expand the region's energy infrastructure. Many of the proposed projects will be built at existing power plant sites, reducing development timelines and leveraging existing infrastructure to interconnect new generation to the grid. This approach reinvests in host communities, saves customers money and helps shorten development timelines, allowing new power plants to come online more quickly.
The projects are also expected to deliver significant economic benefits across both states. In New Mexico, a third-party analysis projects up to $5 billion in economic impact over five years, driven by oil and gas industry expansion and increased electrification. In Texas, the projects will help meet growing demand in the Panhandle and other high-growth areas, while supporting job creation, tax revenue and infrastructure investment in rural and urban communities alike.
To help meet New Mexico's 50% renewable energy requirement by 2030, two solar projects are also included as additions to the portfolio and will be dedicated to New Mexico customers.
Xcel Energy will seek approval of the portfolio from state regulators in the second half of 2025. Encouraged by developer response to this recent solicitation and to increase speed to market for new customers and those seeking to expand their regional operations, the company plans to issue another all-source request for proposals to secure additional resources to be operational by 2032.
