Blue Hat Interactive Entertainment Technology

At first glance, the multinational clothing and accessories retailer Gap Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GAP#NYSE">GAP</a>) may seem like a poor investment. With many consumers facing challenging economic conditions, a clear incentive exists to reduce spending on non-essentials, which is problematic for fashion-centric businesses. There's also the matter of global supply chain risks due to the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/tariffs">Trump administration's tariffs</a>. Sure enough, GAP stock has been hit badly, but that's not the entire story.
No, this isn't an exercise in irrationality. There's no question that millions of Americans are hurting, reflected in cutbacks on dining out and increased expenditures on comfort foods. Naturally, such headwinds impose downstream consequences on other sectors. Further, while clothing represents a necessity, consumers in a tough environment may not necessarily go for the highest-quality offerings (which of course tend to be pricier).
At the same time, it's also fair to point out that Gap saw comparable <a href="https://www.gapinc.com/en-us/articles/2025/05/gap-inc-reports-first-quarter-fiscal-2025-results#:~:text=First%20quarter%20net%20sales%20of,share%20gains%20for%20the%20brand.">sales</a> in the first quarter rise 3%, marking the ninth consecutive quarter of market share gains. What this fundamental catalyst translates to is that the retailer is resonating with consumers. So, while GAP stock may be swimming in red ink, the underlying nuances may not be as terrible as the market thinks.
Another point of contention working against the fashion brand is the political realm. Like many other businesses, Gap is reliant on supply chains that flow through China. With U.S.-China relations strained and President Trump's tough rhetoric not exactly smoothing matters over, GAP stock clearly carries risks. Nevertheless, the underlying company has been reducing its dependency on China and <a href="https://www.supplychaindive.com/news/gap-sourcing-strategy-inventory-Q4-richard-dickson/710143/">retooling</a> its sourcing strategy.
To be sure, these last points aren't going to make GAP stock the greatest investment ever. But from a contrarian trader's perspective, there's a legitimate justification for a bounce-back.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Narrowing Down a Strategy for GAP Stock</h2>
While it's possible that investors may be discounting the positives that Gap offers, it's admittedly an extraordinary claim on my part to suggest that, based on the above opinion, GAP stock is compellingly mispriced. I'm almost certainly not the first person to notice these positives, so that can't be the main reason for my bullishness. Instead, I'm relying on the quantitative argument.
Quantitative traders or quants at the core think in terms of conditional logic: What is the probability of B given that A has occurred? This statement is mathematically expressed as P(B&#x7C;A) and it's the foundation of empirical analysis of the financial markets.
As powerful as this methodology is, one of the missteps (in my opinion) is that quants tend to conduct the conditional logic on either the share price or its many derivatives (such as percentage gain or loss). However, the share price is an unbounded continuous signal, meaning that it can theoretically rise forever and that there's no way to objectively categorize it (i.e. a "good" price or a "bad" price).
Given the limitations, it's arguably better to compress the price action into the first-order principles of market breadth or sequences of accumulative and distributive sessions. This answers the root question: was the market a net buyer or net seller of the security at hand? By examining the foundation of demand, we can segregate chaotic price discovery into distinct behavioral states.
Conducting the above exercise across rolling 10-week intervals for GAP stock reveals the following demand profile:

In the trailing two months, GAP stock is printing a "6-4-D" sequence: six up weeks, four down weeks, with a negative trajectory across the 10-week period. It's a relatively rare sequence, having materialized only 21 times since January 2019. Part of what makes it distinct is that the trajectory is negative despite the balance of accumulative sessions outweighing distributive.
Still, the biggest takeaway from an options trading perspective is the conditional probability. If the 6-4-D flashes, the following week's price action tends to rise 61.9% of the time. Further, the median return under this positive pathway is 3.8%.

Based on the price at the time of writing, GAP stock could potentially rise to $21.45 within a week or two. Should the bulls maintain control of the market over the next four weeks, a push toward the $22 level isn't out of the question.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Playing the Contrarian Game the Smart Way</h2>
Armed with the market intelligence above, aggressive speculators may consider the 20/22 bull call spread expiring Aug. 15. This transaction involves buying the $20 call and simultaneously selling the $22 call, for a net debit paid of $$97 (the most that can be lost in the trade). Should GAP stock rise through the short strike price ($22) at expiration, the maximum reward is $103, a payout of just over 106%.
What makes this trade attractive is that market makers are unlikely to anticipate a rebound. As a baseline, GAP stock suffers from a negative bias. On any given week (since January 2019), the chance that a long position will be profitable is only 49.42%. Therefore, the statistical response to the 6-4-D sequence implies that the bullish trader is receiving 12.48 percentage points of favorable odds.
That said, it's important to realize that we're talking about probabilities, not certainties. GAP stock is historically risky. In addition, the market being an open system means that outside influences can easily disrupt the paradigm. Still, the above quantitative approach provides an empirical framework, thus helping crystallize the decision-making process.

The Trade Desk, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TTD#NASDAQ">TTD</a>) is <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/movers/25/07/46422755/the-trade-desk-extends-rally-on-sp-500-entry-news">trading higher</a> Tuesday after the digital advertising company announced that it would be added to the S&amp;P 500 Index. This is considered a bullish dynamic because it expands the number of institutional investors who can invest in the stock.
There is a chance it is about to fill a gap. This could mean a rapid move higher. It is why The Trade Desk is our <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/stock-of-the-day">Stock of the Day</a>.
As you can see on the chart, the shares have run into resistance around $85.50. This isn't a coincidence. On Feb. 12, the stock closed at $122.23. The next day, it opened at $85.18. Because there was no trading between these prices, it appears as a blank space or ‘gap' on the chart (see below).

Some of the people who bought The Trade Desk shares around this opening price thought they got a bargain. The price was down by almost 33%.
However, as soon as they finished buying, the price dropped even further. When this happened, many of those who bought shares experienced buyer's remorse. Some of them decided to hold onto their losing positions.
They also decided that if they could eventually do so, they would sell their stocks at the same price they paid for them to get out at breakeven. So, when the shares rallied back to around $85 this morning, they placed sell orders.
The large number of these orders created resistance around the price. If the stock can break this resistance, there is a good chance it makes a rapid move higher. It would be entering the same price levels that it gapped down through in February, but going in the opposite direction.
One of the main reasons why resistance forms in markets is because of buyer's remorse. People try to sell things on the way back up so they can get out without losing money.
There was no trading in the price levels that their shares gapped down through. This means there won't be any remorseful sellers trying to get out on the way up.
The lack of sell interest at these levels could mean the buyers will need to be aggressive and force the price higher to acquire shares. This could create a new uptrend and the gap may be refilled.

Refusing to make exceptions in an already unequal startup landscape, Melinda French Gates said she declined to fund her daughter's new business, insisting she raise outside capital based on merit.&nbsp;
"She got capitalized, not because of my contacts, not because of me. I wouldn't put money into it, " Gates <a href="https://fortune.com/2025/07/08/melinda-french-gates-reveals-shes-refusing-to-fund-her-gen-z-daughters-new-startup-despite-being-worth-nearly-31-billion/">said</a> at the Power of Women's Sports Summit presented by e.l.f. Beauty (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ELF#NYSE">ELF</a>).
"If this is a real business, others need to be willing to back it," she said, according to Fortune. "She's growing from this."

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gates Family Maintains Stance on Inheritance</h2>
The approach aligns with the position long held by her former husband, Microsoft (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>) cofounder Bill Gates. He has previously stated that his children would <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/44579813/bill-gates-declares-that-his-children-would-inherit-less-than-1-of-his-fortune-i-am-not-asking-them-to-run-microsoft">inherit less than 1% </a>of his wealth, encouraging them to forge their own paths.
While French Gates did not identify which daughter she was referencing, Phoebe Gates, the couple's youngest child, recently launched Phia, a fashion-tech startup, with her Stanford University roommate, Sophia Kianni. The platform compares clothing prices from over 40,000 sites to help users find deals.
In April, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/25/04/44937340/im-a-nepo-baby-phoebe-gates-opens-up-on-privilege-pressure-and-her-billionaire-dads-college-warning">Phoebe Gates said</a> her parents did not allow her to leave college to launch the venture, even though her father famously dropped out of Harvard to start Microsoft.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Rejection as a Growth Tool for Female Founders</h2>
Gates noted that her decision is also rooted in a broader commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs. She said her daughter's experience reflects a common thread among women featured in her YouTube series, "Moments That Make Us."
"I saw that going through something difficult changed all of them, and that they had to learn to find resilience somewhere," she said, according to Fortune. "And in finding that resilience, they found themselves."
Tennis legend Billie Jean King, who joined Gates on stage, agreed and spoke about the value of feedback during challenging times. "To your point, like your daughter has figured out how to get this first business started—that's amazing," King said.
King also revealed she avoids using the word "failure," preferring to reframe setbacks as opportunities for feedback. "When people start thinking about failure, it's a very negative feeling," she said.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Women Face Ongoing Challenges in Startup Funding</h2>
Gates, who has spent over two decades advocating for women's empowerment, said female founders must be especially resilient to succeed in the startup world.
"It is very, very hard to get your business funded if you're a woman," she said. "And so you do have to learn a bit how to have the courage to play the game and to stick with it."
According to the Founders Forum Group <a href="https://ff.co/women-funding-statistics-2025/">report</a>, only 2.3% of global venture capital went to female-only founding teams last year, showcasing pronounced gender disparities.

MARA Holdings on Tuesday announced a $20 million equity investment in Two Prime, deepening its involvement in institutional<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/crypto/25/07/46407297/bitcoin-retraces-from-highs-ahead-of-cpi-report-ethereum-gains-and-dogecoin-falls-analyst-says-135000-140000-isnt-hopium-but-one-clean-breakout-away"> Bitcoin yield strategies</a>.
The deal formalizes MARA's minority stake in the SEC-registered investment advisor and expands its Bitcoin allocation with Two Prime from 500 Bitcoin to 2,000 Bitcoin. MARA framed the move as part of a broader strategy to turn its Bitcoin holdings into active, yield-generating assets rather than passive investments.
The announcement comes as institutional and sovereign demand for Bitcoin-based treasury solutions continues to rise, with entities seeking more sophisticated ways to deploy digital assets. Two Prime, known for its risk-managed institutional products, now manages around $1.75 billion in assets and was recently named the largest centralized finance lender in the U.S.
