AI Meme Coin GOAT Joins $1 Billion Club—Can It Target The Likes Of Dogecoin, Shiba Inu?

Microsoft has been turning its OpenAI deal into a big business. Earlier this year, much of its Azure OpenAI offering, which provides access to OpenAI's language models, was contingent on a single big spender: TikTok. But I've now seen a recent list of its top customers, and it's clear that Microsoft has managed to diversify the business with a selection of major clients spending more than $1 million per month on Azure OpenAI services.
The software giant has a running list of what it considers its top 10 customers for Azure OpenAI, and I'm told Adobe and Meta both spent more than $1 million on Microsoft's AI services in September alone to make the top 10 customer list. Both Adobe and Meta are primarily using Microsoft's provisioned output for access to OpenAI models, which provides dedicated model processing capacity rather than Microsoft's token-based offerings for text and image generation.
Meta and Adobe's use of Azure OpenAI still falls far behind TikTok owner ByteDance's, though. The Information reported earlier this year that TikTok was <a href="https://www.theverge.com/2024/7/31/24210667/microsoft-tiktok-ai-openai-customer">paying Microsoft almost $20 million</a> per month to access OpenAI's models, making up nearly a quarter of the revenue generated by Azure OpenAI at the time. ByteDance's spending on Azure OpenAI is now less than 15 percent of Microsoft's Azure OpenAI business, thanks in part to a more diverse amount of customer spending on Microsoft's AI services and ByteDance spending less.

On Friday, Vir Biotechnology, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/VIR#NASDAQ">VIR</a>) announced end-of-treatment data from Part B of the MARCH Phase 2 study evaluating combinations of tobevibart and elebsiran, with or without pegylated interferon alfa (PEG-IFNα), in participants with <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/11/b42012383/vir-biotechnology-announces-positive-end-of-treatment-results-for-tobevibart-and-elebsiran-combina" rel="noreferrer noopener">chronic hepatitis B</a>.
Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) is a long-lasting, inflammatory liver disease caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV).
The World Health Organization estimates that 254 million people live with CHB, and an estimated 1.1 million yearly deaths are associated with the disease.

Participants in the trial received tobevibart and elebsiran alone (doublet regimen) or in combination with PEG-IFNα (triplet regimen).
The study demonstrated promising rates of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) loss (seroclearance) in participants with low baseline HBsAg (&lt;1000 IU/mL) in both combination regimens.
The doublet and triplet regimens resulted in HBsAg loss at the end of treatment in 39% (7/18) and 46% (5/11) of participants with baseline HBsAg&lt;1,000 IU/mL, respectively.
The proportion of participants with varying baseline HBsAg levels who achieved HBsAg loss at the end of treatment was 16% (8/51) for the doublet and 22% (6/27) for the triplet regimen.
The doublet regimen resulted in 50% (4/8) of participants achieving HBsAg loss and anti-HBs seroconversion.
All participants with HBsAg loss at the end of treatment who received the triplet regimen achieved anti-HBs seroconversion (100%, 6/6).
Participants with HBsAg seroclearance at the end of treatment who meet eligibility criteria will discontinue treatment. A functional cure assessment will occur 24 weeks after treatment discontinuation.
Mark Eisner, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Vir Biotechnology, said, &#8220;We are encouraged by these results and eagerly anticipate the functional cure data in 2025, as it will be decisive for the next steps of clinical development.&#8221;

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) today announced the issuance of a Request for Information (RFI) to gauge market interest in activities to develop advanced nuclear energy technologies in New York State. Through this RFI, NYSERDA seeks to identify entities that are currently pursuing or interested in a potential role in advanced nuclear energy development. Responses will help inform next steps following the Future Energy Economy Summit held in September at Governor Kathy Hochul's direction. Today's announcement demonstrates the State's continued commitment to remain at the forefront of emerging technologies to support the advancement of renewable energy resources and foster continued economic development.
NYSERDA President and CEO Doreen M. Harris said, "As local, national and international companies pursue nuclear energy for their on-site energy needs and the federal government signals interest in investing in this resource, we recognize that now is the time to position New York to fully engage this new sector that can drive significant economic development. Understanding the status of potential opportunities through this RFI will enable us to begin developing strategic partnerships and initiatives for complementary resources that will ultimately support the increased deployment of renewables as we work toward a zero-emission grid of the future."
Entities encouraged to respond include:

<li>stakeholders who may be considering advanced nuclear solutions, such as users of large electric loads, industrial heat, and hydrogen – both those already active in New York and those considering establishing operations in New York;</li>
<li>supply chain companies that could provide critical components for development of advanced nuclear energy projects in New York;</li>
<li>potential host communities for nuclear reactors or supply chain projects</li>
<li>workforce development and training entities;</li>
<li>nuclear generation project developers;</li>
<li>financing/funding entities; and</li>
<li>research and development entities including laboratories, universities and private entities.</li>
</ul>
Generation project consideration associated with this RFI is restricted to New York Independent System Operator (NYSISO) Control Area Load <a href="https://www.nyiso.com/documents/20142/1397960/nyca_zonemaps.pdf/8c3807e1-5bab-ab44-3c71-2c8e61b5748b">Zones A-F <img src="https://www.nyserda.ny.gov/-/media/Project/Common/General/Rest/new-window.gif" alt="Link opens in new window - close new window to return to this page." /></a> which encompasses the area of New York State north and west of the lower Hudson Valley. All other aspects of the request including energy consumers, supply chain, and workforce apply to all parts of New York State.

The Summit put forward actions and needs associated with the simultaneous advancement of economic growth and a zero-emission electricity system in New York State, addressing increasing energy demands due to new economic development opportunities, acceleration of renewable energy development, as well as advancement of the technologies that will be necessary to enable a deeply renewable grid.
In addition to the RFI and the Final Blueprint for Consideration of Advanced Nuclear Energy Technologies in progress, other actions underway to inform planning for future energy needs include:

Why It's Important: Kudlow began his role as National Economic Council Director in April 2018 and remained in the role until the end of Trump's presidency. While other members of Trump's cabinet and administration left or got fired, Kudlow stayed. 
Reports of Kudlow being considered for a White House role comes as some Trump allies say there is a growing battle between several candidates like Howard Lutnick and Scott Bessent for economic roles in the Trump administration.
The campaigning for the role of Treasury secretary has upset Trump, according to the report, which could mean he goes a different direction in naming his new economic advisor and leadership picks.
Other names being considered for economic positions include Apollo Global Management CEO Marc Rowan and former U.S. trade representative Robert Lighthizer, the WSJ reported. 
The week has been full of several announcements from Trump on who he is planning to nominate for key White House roles once his term begins in January. More announcements are expected between now and then.

The comparison period for 2023 is the three months ended Oct. 31, 2023, due to the fiscal year-end change from Oct. 31 to Dec. 31.

<li>Gross profit amounted to $3.9 million, a decrease from $4.4 million in Q4 2023, primarily due to lower margins in Oregon and pricing pressures.</li>

Biotech stocks represent companies involved in the research, development and commercialization of biological-based products that are designed to improve health. These companies can include pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, and healthcare services.



While the industry is challenging because of the regulatory approval process and keen competition, biotech stocks do have some significant advantages. 



For example, they are relatively immune to economic downturns. Even when the economy does poorly, people and insurance companies will spend money on monthly medications they need to improve their quality of life. 



As the population ages, healthcare spending for pharmaceuticals and other medical products will continue to increase.

<h2>Eli Lilly &amp; Co. (LLY)</h2>

That&rsquo;s why the first two companies on our list are top picks, both of them are soaring on the strength of their weight loss medications.



The U.S.-based company in this equation is Eli Lilly &amp; Co. (NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/lly-stock-quote/">LLY</a>), which markets its obesity drug under the name Zepbound. About 1 in 3 people who took the injectable drug at its highest dose (15 mg) report losing more than 58 pounds over a 72-week period.



The drug in Zepbound, tirzepatide, is also used in another highly successful Lilly product called Mounjaro, which is used to treat type 2 diabetes. Analysts believe that Zepbound can eventually be worth $25 billion a year in sales, and that Mounjaro sales could jump from $5.2 billion in 2023 to $16 billion in 2024.



<h2>Novo Nordisk (NVO)</h2>

Wegovy was approved in 2021 in the U.S. to treat obesity and recently expanded to the U.K.



Expansion came with some growing pains, though. Some pharmacies continue to report shortages, and Novo Nordisk <a href="https://www.novonordisk-us.com/supply-update.html">says</a> its running its manufacturing lines 24 hours a day to try to maintain the supply.



Norvo Nordisk also manufactures the drug Ozempic as a treatment for type 2 diabetes, but doctors have also prescribed it as a treatment for weight loss.



NVO saw <a href="https://www.novonordisk.com/news-and-media/news-and-ir-materials/news-details.html?id=167013">revenue</a> of $21.4 billion in the fourth quarter, up 31% from the previous year. Profits of $7.7 billion were a 51% increase from the previous year.



NVO stock is up 20% in 2024 and gets an &ldquo;A&rdquo; rating in the Portfolio Grader.



<h2>Corbus Pharmaceuticals (CRBP)</h2>

The company has potential drugs in its pipeline to treat solid tumors with antibody drug conjugates and monoclonal antibodies.



The most advanced treatment is treating U.S. patients with metastatic urothelial cancer <a href="https://www.corbuspharma.com/press-releases/detail/410/corbus-announces-dosing-of-first-patient-in-u-s-phase-1">in a trial study</a>.



Corbus also started work on a treatment for obesity and related conditions, although trials for that aren&rsquo;t expected to begin until the fourth quarter of this year.



Corbus doesn&rsquo;t have revenue coming in yet, so it&rsquo;s seeing steep losses &ndash; $8 million in the fourth quarter and $44.6 million for the full year. But that&rsquo;s expected for a biotech stock that has drugs in the pipeline but none yet for sale. You have to be willing to ride it out.



Many investors are. CRBP stock is up more than 500% so far this year as the market reacts to positive developments in the company&rsquo;s clinical trials. It gets an &ldquo;A&rdquo; rating in the Portfolio Grader.



<h2>Aptorum Group (APM)</h2>

Its approach includes screening approved drug molecules and using its research platform to seek and develop new treatments and therapies.



The company recently agreed to a <a href="https://www.marketwatch.com/story/aptorum-group-to-merge-with-yoov-group-split-off-legacy-assets-28822b75">reverse merger</a> between its wholly owned subsidiary and YOOV Group, specializing in AI techniques to optimize business operations. &nbsp;APM shareholders will own 10% of the combined company after the merger.



Aptorum also plans to split off its legacy business assets into a subsidiary to be called Aptorum Therapeutics.



News of the merger and restructuring turbocharged APM shares, which are now up 264% in 2024. It gets an &ldquo;A&rdquo; rating in the Portfolio Grader.



<h2>Merck &amp; Co. (MRK)</h2>

(NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/mrk-stock-quote/">MRK</a>) is a New Jersey-based pharmaceutical company best known for its Keytruda cancer treatment. Keytruda brought in <a href="https://www.fiercepharma.com/pharma/whos-no-1-25b-sales-mercks-keytruda-appears-set-be-top-selling-drug-2023">$25 billion</a> in sales in 2023, making it the top-selling drug in the world.



But Merck also has many other drugs on the market, including Gardasil for human papillomavirus; ProQuad, which is a vaccine for measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox; and Januvia for type 2 diabetes. And that&rsquo;s important, as Merck will lose exclusivity for Keytruda in 2028, making it available for generic substitutes.



Merck expanded that pipeline last month by <a href="https://www.merck.com/news/merck-completes-acquisition-of-harpoon-therapeutics-inc/">completing its acquisition</a> of Harpoon Therapeutics. The company&rsquo;s lead drug candidate treats small cell lung cancer and neuroendocrine tumors.



Earnings for the <a href="https://www.merck.com/news/merck-announces-fourth-quarter-and-full-year-2023-financial-results/">fourth quarter</a> included revenue of $14.6 billion, up 6% from a year ago. The company reported a loss of $1.2 billion and 48 cents per share as part of previously announced charges incurred in its deal with Daiichi Sankyo to jointly develop three cancer treatments.



MRK stock is up 16% in 2024 and gets an &ldquo;A&rdquo; rating in the Portfolio Grader.



<h2>Gyre Therapeutics (GYRE)</h2>

The company completed a Phase 2 trial in China for its treatment of hepatitis B-induced liver fibrosis.



It&rsquo;s now planning a Phase 2 trial for the treatment in the U.S. The drug candidate, Hydronidone, is a structural analog of pirfenidone, which is already approved in the U.S. and China for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.



The company says there are more than 140 million people who have liver fibrosis from hepatitis B, with no approved therapies on the market. So, its treatment has the potential to be profitable for investors.



Gyre posted full-year revenue in 2023 of $113.5 million, up from $102.3 million in 2022.



GYRE stock is up 330% in the last 12 months, but has been falling so far in 2024. It gets an &ldquo;A&rdquo; rating in the Portfolio Grader.



<h2>Neurogene (NGNE)</h2>

The platform can be used to achieve optimized levels of transgene expression for each drug candidate, which Neurogene says gives it an advantage over traditional gene therapy.



It&rsquo;s currently working with the platform to develop its lead gene therapy candidate for Rett syndrome, which is a disorder seen in children that impairs their ability to walk, eat, speak or breathe.



The company went public just last year in a <a href="https://ir.neurogene.com/news-releases/news-release-details/neurogene-announces-closing-merger-neoleukin-therapeutics-and">reverse merger</a> with cancer drug developer Neoleukin Therapeutics backed by investment firms that put $95 million into the newly formed company. The investment is expected to <a href="https://ir.neurogene.com/news-releases/news-release-details/neurogene-reports-fourth-quarter-and-full-year-2023-financial">assure Neurogene of funding</a> until the second half of 2026.



That gives it a solid window to develop and get approvals.



NGNE stock is up 95% this year and gets an &ldquo;A&rdquo; rating in the Portfolio Grader.
